Ouch! MSI GE60 crazy problem when gaming

Hi all-
I have GE60 and when I play a game (EQII) more than about 20 minutes- comp goes freaking crazy and does whatever it wants....
Ingame= avatar starts running around, spins in circles, chat window starts zip-typing whatever it wants ,(nnnnnnnnnnnnnxxxxx) etc.
It seems to be escalating- when out of game after ingame problem occurs, desktop starts shaking all over, any program I am running jumps around and starts flashing menu bars on and off.
Is this an overheating problem? It seems the fan isn't turning on. How do I or can I repair this problem?

And install MSI Afterburner to check realtime temperature ingame on-screen.

  • MSI GE60 0ND problems with graphics

    Hi everybody.
I bought my MSI GE60 0ND about half a year ago, and I've recently restored it. This isn't the first time I've done that.
This time though, my graphics are really terrible. I've installed the proper drivers and even tried to use older drivers for the GPU just in case the driver was the trouble maker. According to notebookcheck.net my GeForce GTX 660m should be able to run a game like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive really smooth. This isn't the case, tough. When first starting it out, it runs with around 80-120fps, but after a few minutes, it's down to 30-50fps.
The power setting is set to "gaming". The driver is set to use the Nvidia graphics card both global and in-game. I've tried all kinds of different settings in-game.
Another thing worth mentioning is, that when I disable the integrated graphics (Intel HD Graphics 4000), the Nvidia driver suddenly can't find the GeForce gfx-card.
Does any one have an idea what is wrong? If you need more information, please just ask for it :-)
    Thanks in advantage!

Are you playing while plugging in and charging?
    It's charging :-)

What are your temperatures when the FPS drops? Use CoreTemp to measure the CPU and MSI Afterburner to measure the GPU. That's a good place to start. Report what the temperatures are when the FPS drops and we'll see if high temperatures are your issue or not.
    Here is a screenshot .
The CPU-temperatur seems way too high, but I'm setting with the laptop on my lap, and it doesn't seem almost 100degrees to me :-D Could it be wrong?
BTW, does anything else seem weird to you?
And thanks for the help both of you! :-)

  • MSI GE60 startup problem

    Hello,
Recently I've noticed that when I go to restart my MSI GE60 2OE-002 laptop, the power button will start blinking blue and orange when it tries to start back up. I assumed that the laptop would not start up as nothing was showing up on screen so I forced it to shut down. I did an EC reset and the laptop turned on properly. After another restart, I realized that even with the blinking power button issue the laptop would boot up after about a 5 minute delay whenever I restart. Is this a sign that something is wrong or possibly breaking?

After playing around for a while, I have concluded that I was wrong and the ethernet cable I was using is the problem. It seems when I attempt to restart with the cable plugged in the laptop does not boot normally. Without the cable the restart proceeds as normal; no blinking light or delay.

check nvidia geforce experience, and go to the battery boost settings.
battery boost usually caps it to 30 fps when on battery, yet you can set these values up to 60fps cap, or disable battery boost. goodluck :D
    Thanks a ton!

  • MSI GE60 0NC Problems After Upgrade

    Hi,
Recently downgraded my MSI GE60 0NC from Windows 8 to Windows 7. Had some issues with the wireless connectivity. I then flashed the laptop to Windows 7 EC controllers. It was then working after this. I then purchased a Samsung 840 Pro SSD 512GB and Corsair Vengeance 16GB. After installing the SSD I then proceeded to do a fresh install of Windows 7. After downloading the wireless drivers I am being told that the drivers may be out dated. I dont understand what the issue is as the did the exact same procedure as before.
Can anyone help me out please as the laptop is useless at the moment

Thanks for the reply, check the first thing i wrote, i explained it a bit, also check the screenshot. I think that could be the problem, but im not that good with laptops so im not sure.. "MSI suite" cant find my motherboard so the program wont execute..
edit: i've already tried the SCM that you linked, i get some errors with net framework so it wont execute after the setup..

  • MSI ge60 Touchpad problem.

    Hello!
I have recently bought a new msi ge60 0ND-249CZ but yesterday the touchpad started to act strangely.
It acts like if i would be tapping the right button continuously. I have downloaded the latest drivers already. I have been searching the internet for a hour but i found no solution.
I had to set the right button function to "none" in the driver so i can use it.

What you backup of course depends on you and what software you use to backup. It is in your hand.
Can't say how long it tkaes as it depends on the individual case and we are not MSI service but the Users-to-Users Forum. Also everyone has a "don't buy brand X"- story about any brand. Friend's stories' are not representative. Could be it will be real fast could be it takes some time if spare parts are missing for example.

  • Heat a problem when gaming?

So, I was trying out Left 4 Dead 2 last night in Win7 (Bootcamp). For some reason I felt bad to put my new iMac through such stress and to hear the fans start kicking in. I'm hoping It doesn't hurt it by getting too hot. Is there a good temperature sensor for Win7 that I can download to keep track of it? This computer does stay amazingly cool (right around 32 Celsius) when doing some web surfing in OSX.
Am I just being too paranoid about this? I did notice that the fan noise did decrease after playing for about half an hour. It seems like it did a good job of cooling it, but I'm afraid to push it too far after hearing about all the screen flickering problems right now on these discussion boards. Thankfully, mine hasn't done that yet and I've had this thing for almost a week now. The game recommended a 1080 screen resolution, but I even knocked it down to 720 just to be on the safer side.
Has anyone else done any gaming on the new 27" iMacs? What's a good temperature sensor I could use in Win7?
    Thanks!

I would say, fans kicking in is a good thing! They're doing what they are built for: keeping your system cool. I'd be more worried if I was playing a game and my fans wouldn't kick in
As long as your system doesn't overheat (it'll shut down if it does) the fans will do their job keeping the temperatures well within acceptable range. I don't really know much about the maximum safe temperature, but I trust the operating system and their drivers to keep the system in a safe situation.
You could try one of the programs mentioned above and see how fast the fans are spinning. If the temperature is kept stable without having the fans going on fullspeed, I'd say your system is capable of taking care of things itself As a precaution you could make the fans spin faster to keep it cooler, but I trust my computer to keep itself safe so usually I just leave it as it is.

  • MSI GE60 SCM problem

At first both the Disc ejection and screen off button were not working,so i tried to reinstall and update the SCM utility software. But after that,it's still the same thing but now each time whenever i tried using the Bluetooth, webcam  or any other devices. It pops up this message"Could not load type 'WPFOSD.CGetDeviceCOunt' from assembly 'WPFOSD.Version=1.0.0.0.Culture=neutral".I downloaded the latest update from MSI website which is ver.10.013.03016.Mine is running on Windows 8.Just bought it a few days back. Any ideas?

hey! I own a GT60 dominator-242 and when I had troubles with most SCM's key functions, it was because the SCM service on System Configuration was turned off. After I turned it back on and restarted, most of the functions worked! except for the airplane mode on/off on the launchpad, but I could pretty much manage without it, besides I think it may be associated to other service, because before solving this SCM issue the cooler boost and keyboard backlit switch launchpad buttons worked alright. I know this is 2 years old... but it may be useful for someone.

  • Having serious latency problems when gaming out of...

    Hi there,
I run ADSL, and being in a semi-rural area its not fantastic - 4MB if I'm lucky, but generally its been quite stable and no major problems.
Over the last week or two I've noticed that my Home and World lag on WoW seems to jump dramatically, to the point of being unplayable.
I've done all the usual - tried wired, changed filters, reset router umpteen times and still seem to be sporadically afflicted by it.
I don't know if its much help or not, but here's a pathping, and a traceroute I did earlier.

  • MSI GE60 Sound Problem !!!

I have no audio on the right channel on the headphone jack. Thought it was my speakers until I tried other audio devices on the jack. No right channel audio.
Tried uninstalling the sound device and reinstalled the drivers. No luck.
If I turn the volume wide open I get distorted sound from the right channel otherwise no sound.

    I found a temporary solution :
    1) Open the registry editor (Windows key + R, then enter "regedit")
    2) Go to this directory :
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0001\Settings\Drv7246_DevType_0892_SS146210c7
or something that looks like that
    3) Change the settings as following :
    Pin 14 : 02 00 00 00
    Pin 18 : 04 00 00 00
    Pin 19 : 04 00 00 00
    4) Restart
    5) Check if it applied. If it doesn't, try again. Sometimes it doesn't work at the first try.
It actually remaps the Mic-in jack in a audio output. The sound coming out is a bit lower than the original output but it's still better than the crappy sound I've had since the headphone jack became a piece of .

  • MSI GE60 Windows 8 - Please Wait Problem

    Hello.
I've been an MSI Notebook GE60 user for around 4 months now.
I bought this laptop in Stockholm, Sweden in July and one day after purchase it has this problem. Every time I would turn on the PC from a shutdown, sleep or  hibernate and also if I locked the screen with win + L a "Please Wait" with a loading circle would appear for 30 minutes...until I could finally log back on. I turned the laptop into the store where I purchased it and after a couple of hours the tech guys checking it for problems. They told me that it was caused by hardware problems and not by ME. So...They took the laptop back in and told me that I could get my money back due to the law in Sweden. With that money I buy the same type of laptop. A MSI GE60.
Now it is August 28 of 2013 and Im having the same problem...THE SAME PROBLEM...
I am so pissed and angry at this point. I am furious with rage.
I buy a a very good and expensive laptop with money I have worked hard for and I GET THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN???  THIS IS totally unacceptable.
I live in South America, Argentina. And I go to school, this problem cannot continue. I cannot wait 30 minutes every time I open my pc from sleep mode. I cannot shut it down and open it up again (it works fine then, but i lose all my work etc..)
I have scanned the computer with sfc /scannow and also run all troubleshooting options.
Scanned for virus's. Possibly everything that can be done. HOWEVER, this problem goes away when I run in safe mode. What can this mean?
I'm seriously demanding a refund if this is a hardware problem from MSI once again. I'm really sad about this, this is a great laptop, but the same problem occuring twice...? Come on..
    Thanks for reading.
I hope someone gets in contact with me.

I tried both solutions. They did not fix the problem.
    Hi D..!
I am sorry to hear that.
You ran sfc and dism as administrator? And I take it that you have removed hibernation and use the fastest powerplan? Anything in the logs that point you in the right direction?
Since you bought the GE60 in Sweden you are covered by Swedish consumer laws that is even better than in my country Denmark, because you have at least 2 years of warranty! Use that and turn the nb in where you bought it!
This GE60 is my first computer that is not Asus and less than Win-8, and I am not an expert in MSI and Win-8. However there are some very clever and able people in this forum, so keep on pushing this item until you find the right solution!
    Hope you will succeed!

  • MSI GE60 NC Wireless Problem!

    Hello everyone,
I'll summarize my problem quickly. Hope we can solve this since it becomes very annoying.
I'm using MSI GE60 NC for 8 months now. The notebook came with Win7 then in January I updated to Win8 using the cheap update offer from W7 to W8.
My problem is with the wireless and it actually started after my update to Win8.
My wireless is disconnecting after a while, sometimes it is 30 minutes, sometimes 2 hours. When I try to reconnect I'm getting "limited access" message and can't connect to internet. To be able to reconnect I usually need to restart my computer or choose "fix problems option" after I got the error message. After the reconnect i'm getting another disconnection after a while.
My router is Asus RT-N 10E and it has the latest firmware. I'm also using a PlayStation 3 and a smart phone on this router without a problem so far. But the weird thing is I didn't have this problem on my notebook as well when i was using Win7.
I also tested my notebook at girlfriend's home and i got the same annoying disconnections there as well.
I'm really getting annoyed. I googled this problem too. Even though there are lots of people having the same problem I couldn't find a proper solution.
Here's what I did to fix the problem so far:
Updated and re-installed Intel Canyon Peak Centrino Wireless drivers several times.
Disabled every possible power saving features for wireless adapter (including the one in the device manager)
I've also found a firmware for the wireless adapter on MSI website which is actually released yesterday.
But i haven't tried it yet since in the attention section there's a warning about updating the firmware to Win8 if Win7 is already installed. I have no idea what that means.
I'm waiting for your suggestions guys. Thanks already.

    Hello again,
    My bios version is 2.14.1219
As i said before i disabled every power saving feature including the control panel powerprofile and the one in the device manager.
I have the latest drivers from msi website.
There's a recently released firmware for my wi-fi adapter on msi website but i haven't tried it yet since in the attention section there's a warning about updating the firmware to Win8 if Win7 is already installed. I have no idea what that means.
Looking forward to any solution and suggestion. Thanks

  • MSI 970A-G46 with a AMD FX8350 shutting down when gaming of Indexing win 7

    Hallo
I set up a new pc with these components
    MSI  970A-G46
    AMD FX8350
    MSI Radeon HD7750 OC
    Corsair PC12800
    WD 1TB
    PSU 600W
    All stock
    Bios update: done
    Driver update: done
Temperature is bios about 55 Celcius
Now when gaming or doing a speed index of windows 7 the pc shuts of and when it shuts of the front case led is blinking.
The CPU and MOBO gets verry hot.
I have read that MSI claims that the 970A-G46 is not suited for the FX8350 becouse it has 4. +1 phases.
Please help me with this headache

    Dear MSI,
Thank you for your detailed response to my concerns... I can see clearly now. I only have a couple questions.
Regarding your courtesy "step-up" option: If I choose to RMA my board and pay the difference for an upgrade, will I be required to send in my motherboard first, before you send me my replacement? Manufacturer RMA procedures are time-consuming, and typically span several days, or often weeks before the replacement product arrives. If I have to send in my motherboard first and wait for a replacement, I will essentially be without a desktop computer for that period of time.
This is a serious issue for me. I use my computer on a daily-basis for important tasks. Being stuck without a computer for several days is unfair and unreasonable, given that I'm not the one at fault here. I'm being inconvenienced because of MSI's blunder with this motherboard. This is your mistake, not mine. I hope you re-consider this a little more carefully.
I feel similarly about paying for shipping. Sending out the board on my own dime may not seem like a big problem, but the principle is the same: I'm being penalized for something that is no fault of my own.
Let me remind you that you are propagating false advertising when you say this motherboard "supports" FX-8350 Vishera CPUs. To say that it really "supports" the FX-8350 is being generous; I'm using this CPU/motherboard combo right now, and I can see for myself that the 970A-G46 quickly falls to it's knees when the CPU reaches full load. No other properly-designed motherboard does this. Real-world tasks such as video encoding will use 100% of my processor, thus causing it to throttle. Adobe Media Encoder is not a "heavy burn-in tool"; it is, in fact, a "standard usage scenario" as you put it.
It's the equivalent of selling a car that boasts an 8-cylinder engine, but can only use 2 cylinders driving down the freeway because it wasn't actually designed for that much power. Very dishonest.
At this point you have openly admitted that the motherboard is flawed. I will hold you to that. Your engineers have tested it for themselves, and have observed the CPU's power going over spec, thus not working properly with this motherboard. You can blame the problem on AMD, but it doesn't change the fact that you're selling this motherboard to unknowing consumers, neglecting to warn them about the board's limitations.
Your courtesy upgrade option is a step in the right direction. But unless you can provide me with a more agreeable form of compensation that doesn't make me pay for shipping and leave me without a PC, I plan on escalating this issue.
    -Dan
