Outer join between two Contexts not working

Hi,
I have two contexts. A Context and B Context. To define hierachy or to show the both contexts data in single table/report in Web-I, i joined main tables of both contexts with a join. In those main two tables i want to show the table1 data irrespective of corresponding data exist in second table.
To solve that i tried LEFT/RIGHT outer joins but nothing solved my prob. Because of those were in different context, I suppose. But it's not the same case when i work within a context (Single).
Hope you got my prob now...!! Please help me out...
Thank You!!

Thanks Rohit for your reply.
Nope, i can't cpntinue without having that join between those two tables. It must be there to get the exact results.
It's not the prob of using Merged Dimensions... those are useful for another purpose. In my case those two Dimensions have different sets of data and have relation between those two.
Like:
Tab-1------Tab2
Prod1------Cat1
Prod1------Cat2
Prod2------Cat3
Prod3------Cat4
Prod4------(NULL)
As per requirement i should show the row for empty, in my ex it's in Prod4.
If i use two SQL's prob:
I can't relate those two and which have relation more over interdependent. Shows data as two separate tables in report.
If i use multiple dataproviders:
Prob Tab2 is has other joins with other tables to complete the project hierarchy.
Hope you got it...
Thank You!!

  • Forcing full outer join between two facts according to common dimensions

Hi everyone,I have an issue with the way obiee "joins" 2 fact tables regarding according to common dimensions.
    Let's assume 2 fact tables F1 and F2 and 2 dimension D1 and D2.
Fi is joined to Dj thanks to IDs.
    F1 and F2 have got aggregates sum(mes1), respectively sum(mes2).
The group by is performed on dim1 for D1 and dim2 for D2.
The following 2 queries work fine...but separately:
    select dim1, dim2, sum(mes1) from F1, D1, D2 where ... group by dim1, dim2; //7 lines
    select dim1, dim2, sum(mes2) from F2, D1, D2 where ... group by dim1, dim2; //8 lines
When I try to select dim1, dim2, sum(mes1) and sum(mes2), the following sql is created by the BI server:
    WITH SAWITH0 AS (
    select dim1, dim2, sum(mes1) c3 from F1, D1, D2 where ... group by dim1, dim2
    ), SAWITH1 AS (
    select dim1, dim2, sum(mes2) c3 from F2, D1, D2 where ... group by dim1, dim2
    select ... dim1,
         ... dim2,
         ... SAWITH0.c3,
         ... SAWITH1.c3
FROM SAWITH0 LEFT OUTER JOIN SAWITH1
         on SAWITH0.dim1=SAWITH1.dim1 and SAWITH0.dim2=SAWITH1.dim2
I get only 7 lines. It means I miss one line from the second query on F2.
The solution is to perform a full outer join. (I tried in TOAD and changing LEFT by FULL is ok)
How can I force the full outer join?
    Thanks a lot!

If you use the fact vertical capabilities of OBIEE, it will normally perform a full outer join :
    http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/logical_sql/obiee_full_outer_join
Check here for an example (replace the fact cross join by your second fact table F2)

    Hi,
I've two lists in my view with join. The list A and the list B.
I'm ordering the view with the column list A.
The column list A it's a column for type lookup to list B's column.
In my view i'm ordering with the column list A of type lookup.
The view with join is not ordering in order growing.
I want the view will be ordering by order growing.
    Do you understood?

  • How can we make an outer join (+) between 2 Queries

in the data model, i have 2 queries
    i.e
    Q_master and Q_detail
i want to make a data link between
    these two queries and
also make an outer join between these
two queries(i.e. to display all the detail
records, whether they have details or not)
please reply is it possible ?
    if yes then how?
    plz write.

    Hello,
Left outer join behavior is what you get by default with a link between two queries in Reports.
If you want a full outer join behavior, you'll need to create a third query that selects the detail records that have no corresponding master, and also create an extra layout region to display them in as a default group left or group above won't pick up these extra records.
If you want right outer join behavior, you'll need to put in a summary in the master query that counts the rows in the detail, and then put in a format trigger in the master repeating frame that suppresses printing when there are no detail records. And you'll also need the third query and layout section as in the full outer join case.

  • Joins between two schemas

    Hi
I need data from two different schemas. Can develop one subject area taking 2 tables from 2 different schemas or we need to have these two tables from one schema only ?
Can any one help on this.
    Thanks
    Manu

    Hi,
When you try to create physical join between these two tables of different schemas.
    The join condition is REGION.REGION_CODE = REGION.REGION_ID
Note: The table name is same in both the schema.
Now as soon as I click on Ok, it gives an error.Because You can not create join between two tables with the same name.
So, create alias for these two tables and try to create the join with the same join condition.
It allowed me to create join perfectly. I moved ahead with the creation of Subject Area based out of these two tables.
Opened Presentation Services, selected few attributes from both the Presentation folders. But it gave ODBC error as :
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 46036] Internal Assertion: Condition m_CountFields == static_cast<int32>(m_ColumnNameVector.size()), file .\Src\SQCSCacheStorageListStream.cpp, line 221. (HY000)
Now in order to fix that issue, rename the base tables as Schema1_name.REGION and Schema2_name.REGION in the repository.
Reload the rpd and run the same report, it would give correct result.
But instead you can have the tables in the same schema for better maintenance activities.
    Hope this solved your question.

  • Inner Join between two big tables

    Hi There,
I have a situation where in which I have to write an inner join between two table of the order of (30k to 60 rows).
My query is as simple as,
    select A.a,B.b from A ,B where A.a = B.b;
N.B: a and b are of type varchar
But the problem is it takes nearly 15 mins to run. Is there any better way of doing an inner join between such bigger tables?
    Thanks,
    Jose John.

Thank you all for your help.....Indexing works....:)

Lots of WIFI needs a username and password to get access. I guess you're lucky and yours is set up unsecured.
Normal secured WiFi requires only a password to get access. The password is used to encrypt traffic between your device and the WiFi access point. If whatever you are using requires a username as well then it is not simply normal secured WiFi. It might be a subscription WiFi service like GOGO, ATT, etc., or a service with authentication, i.e., college campus, etc. To help you out we need to know what you are using and what connection dialog you are being presented with. You don't have exactly the same problem as the original poster. He is having a problem entering a password into the password dialog that iOS presents when one tries to connect to a normal secured WiFi network. Could you clarify exactly which WiFi service you are using.

  • Outer join between logical tables

    Hello,
This question is likely to be asked many times, but I failed to find the proper thread in the forum.
Assume there are 2 logical tables "Fact" and "Dim".
"Fact" has 1 LTS which consists of physical tables F, FX1, FX2 which are inner joined.
"Dim" has 1 LTS which consists of physical tables D, DX1, DX2 which are inner joined.
F and D tables are also joined together on physical layer.
I define left outer join between "Fact" and "Dim" on logical layer.
I create a request in Answers, querying columns from "Fact" and "Dim" which map to physical tables F and D only.
I expect OBIEE to build SQL query which uses F and D tables only, outer joined.
Instead of that all the physical tables used for logical tables "Fact" and "Dim" are joined together in a form like:
    SELECT F.col, D.col
FROM (F inner join FX1 inner join FX2) left outer join (D inner join DX1 inner join DX2)
Is there any way to avoid this behavior or build data model in different way?
    Thank you!

    Hi Alex,
In BI Applications you never have a null in a facts foreign key to the dimension. Instead there is always a zero row wi record inserted with 'Unspecified' in all the columns. When the fact table is populated in the ETL, if the fact record doesn't have a corresponding dimension record the WID is poulated with zero.
This removes the problems with outer joins and helps considerably with performance.
This could be one practice you take from BI Apps and put into your own ETL's and data model.
    Regards
    Robin

  • My "go to in point" and "go to out point" keyboard shortcuts are not working, and the default keys arnt either? any help would be amazing!

my "go to in point" and "go to out point" keyboard shortcuts are not working, and the default keys aren't either? any help would be amazing!  I use these keys a million times a hour and since I have switched to cc I cant get them to work. track selection makes no difference or if there are markers on the timeline or not.
Anyone else feel me on this?
    any help?

Well that still didn't make any kind of difference.  I would just do without it but I've becomes really use to it with Avid for so long.  I have to admit there are a lot of small moments like this that makes me miss Avid.  Any other suggestions? I have checked the keyboard shortcuts a few times and maybe I'm just missing something here...

Before you go through that trouble open About this Mac > More Info... > System Report > Audio and see if the system actually knows it has a microphone.  Then you can look into Applications > Utilities >  Audio MIDI Setup and see if the microphone is there, select it and make sure the sliders are set to full. Then in System Preferences look for Sound > Input and make sure it shows up there and the sliders are at least half way up. If none of that works do a
    SMC RESET
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.
then go through the process of looking for the microphone again as the reset may reenable the mic.

  • Multiple foreign key joins between two tables

    Hi,
I have a question about building a repository.
I have a date dimension and one fact. The fact table has about 10 foreign key columns that link to the date Dimension.
In this case should I create 10 aliases to create joins in the Physical and BMM layer or is there any other way to handle this situation.
I am asking this question because 10 aliases can get very confusing for me at the later point of time while creating reports.
    Using OBIEE 10.1.3

    Hi
I have a follow up question on this.
I am okay with not seeing the different date tables under the Subject area. Even if it just shows a it as a Simple DATE Dimension I am good with it.
In this case which is the efficient way, creating 10 aliases or creating 10 joins in the physical layer. I just figured out that we can create multiple joins between the same set of two tables but do not know how will that effect the way BI server works.
Please help me in understanding this concept.
    thanks

  • Join between two tables in SAP ( actual sales vs budget sales)

I have one table with  actual data sales in SAP .This table has a name   CE11000
This table contain amounts about : customers ,Products, Quantity of Sales ,amount of sales ,month witch did the sales and the year.
The other table from SAP has the budget sales . This table is CE21000
This table contain the same fields : customers ,Products, Quantity of Sales ,amount of sales ,month witch did the sales and the year but all this for budget .
In the budget table ( CE21000)there are no records for a particular make if it was not budgeted to make a sale.
Sometimes i have the same problem with the actual data table (CE11000) ...I have not records witch can use to join the results for a report witch take the comparison between actual sales and budget sales.
I would like to remind you that the report should have four "dimensions"
    a) year
    b) month
    c) customer
    d) type of product
I try to use left outer join with a customer fields in two tables but i have  simultaneously the field with type of product .
I want to see in one year (for example february of 2011)  for one customer the type of products (quantity and anmounts) witch buy (ACTUAL)  and that to  compare with the corresponding data if available
    Any help would appreciate
    thanks

    Haggar
Your first query matches on two conditions BOTH being true. If there is a D and no matching E, you'll see the columns from D but none from E.
Your second query takes all Emplyees, and lines up 2 (possibly different) rows from D against each
    E columns | D columns (match e.deptid=d.dept_id) | D columns (match ep_id=de_id)
So you may have any mix of:
    E       | D1      | D2
    E       | nothing | D2
    nothing | D1      | D2
    E       | D1      | nothing
    E       | nothing | nothing
    nothing | D1      | nothing
nothing | nothing | D2(NB I'm assuming FULL OUTER JOIN is commutative - ie the order is unimportant - but I may be wrong in which case the last row won't occur)
You will get a different number of rows (as well as different columns) in each case.
    Try it!
