Outgoing Messages: 3 (NOT TRUE)

I just sent one e-mail using Apple Mail 4.2 and in the bottom-left corner of the window it said Outgoing Messages: 3. What's that all about? Why is it counting three, when I only sent one?

The Gmail SMTP places a copy of any sent message in the Sent folder on the Gmail server, even in POP operation, so likely that is happening as you watch. Possibly also in the All Mail folder, but I cannot verify that since I now use Gmail as IMAP. That is also the default mode for Mail 4.x, unless carried over from an older installation, or special steps are employed.
Click on Window in the menubar of Mail, and choose Activity -- that is a far more informative monitor than the one you are watching, and should provide more info about the activities.

  • SMS outgoing messages not showing in messaging apps since kitkat

Since the upgrade, when I use the integrated Voice Mate or Google Search to create an SMS, it successfully sends it, but the outgoing text does not show in the SMS app.  I've tried the stock SMS and other 3rd party apps, with the same results.  However, if I use a 3rd party app like Assistant, Sherpa, Text by Voice.  While just using these would be a solution, they don't always want to cooperate like the stock Google Search or even Voice Mate.  Is there a fix to this latest upgrade glitch?

        Auburntiger1856,
I completely understand where you're coming from, I know it's important to have access to the messages. Have you changed the settings in Voice Mate(Voice Mate>Menu>Settings) to ensure it's backed up to your stock SMS app?

  • Outgoing messages not working with POP e-mail account

I am getting a strange message each time I try to send outgoing e-mail messages with my iPhone 3G. It says that my recipients e-mail address in invalid. I have tried multiple e-mail addresses and it always says the same thing when I try to send. My outgoing mail settings look like they are entered correctly and I am recieving e-mail just fine. Any suggestions?

Hi. I was having the same problem with my Gmail/Googlemail account, which i've just managed to fix, by changing the port number for my SMTP server, as per Google's suggestion.
Specifically, I changed my SMTP port number to 465.

  • "startup disk almost full" message - NOT TRUE!  I have about 900 GB of free space.  What can I do about this?

I have been getting repeated messages "startup disk almost full".  I am on a very new iMac running Lion with the most up to date OS.  This is a 1 TB iMac.  When I first got the message, I cleaned almost everything but the applications off the disk.  I now have more than 900 GB of space but again I am getting the message.  I found someone reporting the same problem and he said Apple Care reported a but in the mail system.  He found a Fix but it is not working for me.  (He clicked the option key and opened finder, then went to Library/mail/mailbox/recovered messages and deleted the recovered messages.  But I do not have any folder called "recovered messages" so can't pursue that fix.  Any ideas?

I'm don't know about the new systems, but I remember that I set the % full to warn me. Your % might be set to 20% or something rather than 10% which is a preferable safety margin for many uses. I solved this start up disk problem by installing a 2 Tb internal drive and keeping my data files on external, raided, drives. A real show-stopper is when your 45 Tb external drive warns you that you're too close to OUT for comfort. And, Yes, I do keep it trash free.

  • Send Outgoing Mail Messages not working

I'm having trouble with a workflow that creates a new mail message, gets specified iCal items, creates a summary text file, attaches to mail message and then sends mail message. Everything is working except the mail message does not get sent. There are no logged error messages. I've experimented with changing up the order of the actions and noticed that when I place "Send Outgoing Messages" directly after "New Mail Message", the message gets sent without a problem. However in order for my workflow to make sense I need to have many intermediary steps before I trigger the send messages action.
Any clues on this problem. Thanks in advance.
      Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Cascanuit-
I'm relatively new to Automator as well and by no means a programmer. It does seem that the iCal actions available are pretty meager. I did a search at www.automatorworld.com and there are a few additional actions but none that call out specific menu items.
Another way to approach your desired workflow is to create an applescript that selects Export... from the File Menu. I know very little beyond the basics of applescript but I did cobble together the following:
    tell application "iCal" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
    tell application process "iCal"
    set frontmost to true
click menu item "Export…" of menu 1 of menu bar item "File" of menu bar 1
    delay 4
    tell application "System Events"
    keystroke return
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
Here's the weird part. This script works, but only sporadically. Sometimes it stalls at the selection of the Export button in the dialog box. I have no idea why it sometimes works and other times fails.
If someone could refine this script to make it bullet proof than you can simply incorporate it as an automator workflow and then save the created export file to another volume or anywhere you like.
    Hope this helps some.

  • Why is my mail app not sending outgoing messages?

When using mail application, my outgoing messages remain in my outbox.   If I log into my email through a browser, my outgoing messages will send.
I assumed my new MacBook was setup correctly from the Apple Store.
    Thanks for any assistance.

Check your outgoing (SMTP) mail in mail preferences, make sure that it is set to your mail server and not none or something else. After upgrades, these things can get messed up.

I am trying to print a fillable form - - an application for a Chinese visa.  It will not print and I get two error messages:  "document could not be printed" and   "there were no pages selected to print."  The latter is not true.  Won't print at all, the page I am on, nor any series of pages inserted.
Am using a MAC desktop and a Cannon PIXMA MX922 printer.
I need to print this form now that it is filled out?  What can I do?

Hello PW, I am having this problem and all suggestions haven't worked yet. Where is the Preferences|Documents you are referring to? I am on a PC and using Windows.
EDIT: I found it and did, but still not working.

  • I am running a MacBook Pro with 10.7.5 and I downloaded the OS X 10.10.2 Update Combo, however when I try and open the package the error message "This volume is used for TimeMachine-backups". Which is not true. I´m using TimeCapsule.

I am running a MacBook Pro with 10.7.5 and I downloaded the OS X 10.10.2 Update Combo.
When I try and open the package after accepting the lincence-agreement and upon choosing the install-volume the error message appears: "This volume is used for TimeMachine-backups".
Which is not true. I´m using a timecapsule for backups.
    How can I proceed?

I am using a MacBook Pro (2010) with 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB, 1067 MHz, DDR3, Startvolume Macintosh HD.
After downloading the package and starting upgrading it asks acceptance of the license-agreement. After that it asks for the volume were to install. And when I click on the Startvolume Macintosh HD (which is the only available on the machine) it says: "The volume is already being used for Time Machine-Backups".
It doesn´t offer to skip that point or to reconfigure the Time Machine settings.
The point is that my Time machine is not and has never used the Mac HD for Backups. In the past I have used an external drive and since 05/2014 I am using a Time Capsule which is appropriately addressed in the Time Machine settings.

  • Mail not saving large outgoing messages

i've recently noticed that when sending large outgoing messages (typically 10mb or more), mail sends but does not save the sent message. i'm using IMAP Gmail. everything else (ie, anything smaller) sends and saves fine.
anyone else noticed this/got a fix? i'm using mail 4.1 on OS 10.6.1, but i had trouble with mail in leopard where it wouldn't send large emails at all.

Yes I am having the exact same problem - email just disappears totally whilst being sent - nothing in drafts or sent items - the email has totally disappeared - very very annoying...
I am feeling very angry with Apple and things that should 'just work' that just 'don't work' any more - the whole OS is becoming totally unreliable - I'm seriously considering ditching this junk (after 3yrs of Apple purchasing) and going back to Windows - Apple are the most arrogant and uncommunicative company I have ever known...

  • I cannot override my previous version of Firefox with v4.0. When I try to drag it into applications, I get a message that there is a newer version already there (not true).

I have been following the download instructions. But I never get a prompt to place the file into the Applications folder. So I open the file, drag it to Applications, and get a message that I already have a newer file in Applications. However, this is not true. When I drag the file to the Firefox icon, I am told that can't be done because Firefox is already open.
I have done several other updates, never had this problem before. I have a MacBook.

Beginning with Firefox 4, Macs must have an Intel x86 processor; your system is a PPC Mac.

The good news is that Firefox 3.6.24 still supports the PPC Mac architecture. The bad news is that support for the Firefox 3.6.x series is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

You can try the third-party product '''''TenFourFox''''' that supports PPC Macs. Firefox 8 version of '''''TenFourFox''''' is available. The product is based on Firefox released versions. All support is provided by the developer, not by this site:

  • Can not get outgoing messages to work despite 3 hrs Apple technician!!!!!!!

I have now worked another 4 hours on this issue. And had help from India as well.
After 3 hours with India technician the issue could still not be solved.I now know that the below settings are correct.I have a case number and tonight spend another 4 hours but no outgoing messages!!!! Except sometimes using one account only but I have 10!!
Maybe I have to give up and accept that the mail is never going to work.I now use a windows computer for my mail. UUE unbelievable unacceptable error from Apple
Result all my accounts read the messages.
The accounts are yahoo/xtra New Zealand
The G mail has an own outgoing server and in connection doctor the light is shown green.
If I can send I do not know yet.
Now for all yahoo xtra accounts I use the same server.
The providers instruction for a NEW account I established is:
    -Incoming Mail (POP3) Server pop3.xtra.co.nz
    Use SSL,port 995
    -Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: send.xtra.co.nz
Enable SSL,port: 465 and enable SMTP server authentication
Print this page for your record.
My conclusion is despite upgrading to Snow Leopard 6.1 where was promised that mail issues had been solved the result is zero and I am sure it is not the providers fault.
I will give here again the link in Google and hope somebody will know what is at hand here.
I was told that some guy in Apple care is supposed to know???
I do not have Apple care.I have spend a lot of time and hope somebody may stand up to get it really sorted out My link found in Google:from which I started.

Too bad for words this issue UUE from Apple!!!! Clogz14

I received a complaint that my last post was not so clear and I have updated this post here.
I have now configured Thunderbird and after help with setting up by my provider Yahoo/ Xtra. Thank you for your telephone help of 3 hours from Philippines today Yahoo/ Xtra. It all works fine now with Thunderbird.
I now receive and can send E-mails from and for all 10 sub accounts.Today I received an Apple survey message to valuate my experiences. The case number that was given and is not solved at all is
136901000 The very good Apple technicians name is SHIVARAM.It is not his fault that the issue could not be solved.A shame the Apple survey indicated there would not be any follow up of the issue.!!! I just had to phone again!!!
It shows the arrogance that has entered the Apple organization.
Imagine how many people are loosing time with this issue in my case about 2 days!!! Just after installation of a product they call Snow Leopard I payed 59 $ for !!! It should actually have been called Slow Leopard ! only one letter different.!!! Just as my computer only one program failing!!!
Apple version 4.0 E-mail Program.See how they are going to fix this!!!!
So New Zealand needs to talk to India-Phillipines-to get his 59$ purchased program working.!
Ridicules 6 hours now yes it is all for free 0800 numbers .Still.!!! In Europe companies let the clients pay!!

Examination of all the sites related to the Windows Firewall shows that it is active and working, including Security Policies.
Using Microsoft Security Essentials, which also seems to be working well.
Reinstalling the Toolbox does not correct false message.
Otherwise Toolbox said system is fine.
Only option is to disable notification.

  • Can't connect to my itunes because the message states that another user is using my itunes when thi is not true.

I can not connect to my itunes account because the message states that another user in using the account and this is not true.

After a visit to the apple store, they were able to get through my pass code but unfortunately I found out that is was a problem with the logic board. Since Apple only wants to sell and not fix, I was able to locate an iphone repair near me that deals with logic boards and they are currently working on it right now. i should be getting it back soon. Im not sure if the problem you are experiencing is the same as i went through but it does sound like it may be also a hardware issue and would suggest searching online for an iphone repair place that can diagnose what exactly is wrong. Hope this helps.
