Outlook 2010 authentication pop up box won't go away

After we applied the latest round of Windows Updates to our guinea pig workstations, we discovered that one of them caused something to break in Outlook 2010.  We are set to use AD auto detect authentication on a local Exchange 2007 server. The pop
up window has varied, and nothing we have done has fixed it, not even uninstalling all the patches.  (After the first workstation had the bug, I installed the patches one at a time and determined its KB2553248 that breaks it.)
Mail flows normally and we can send and receive without any problems.  The pop up box can be sent to the back but cannot be minimized.
Mine says:
Windows Security
Microsoft Outlook
Connecting to (my AD email address)
The OK button is grayed out.  Hitting the Cancel button breaks the connection to Exchange, and causes "Connected to Microsoft Exchange" to change over to "Need Password" on the bottom toolbar.  Clicking "Need Password" logs me in within a few seconds
without any further prompting.... but within five minutes the pop up box is back.
On the other user's computer, the pop up box says:
Windows Security
Please Insert a Smart Card
and prompts for credentials if she hits OK.  Like my pop up, the window can be ignored and mail flows normally.  If she hits cancel, her connection to Exchange breaks until she hits "Need Password" at which point she's logged right back in again.
Interestingly, her Outlook was never configured to authenticate with a smart card.  Like mine, it's set to Auto Detect connection type and to configure with the Windows AD login information.
We're holding off deployment of KB2553248 until we have a fix for this.  Although it does not impede mail flow it's annoying as heck, and our clients that use Outlook (all 500ish of them...) are sure to click Cancel and break their connection to Exchange
without knowing to click the Need Password again.
How can we hide this pop up box?

OK...update on my issue (which is now RESOLVED!!!) since other people may did what I did.
I looked at the following link:
http://demazter.wordpress.com/2010/02/09/outlook-continually-prompting-for-username-and-password-2/
None of the above worked...even the kerberos method.
OL 2010 pop up box didn't say anything about connecting to where.  So I looked closely at the popup box for OL 2007...keeps on saying connecting to mail.company.com.  I was wondering why OL was trying to go outside instead of exch2010.domain.local
even though my account settings/profile is set to exch2010.domain.local.
As I was reading an article on SCP and how to locate it using adsiedit (which I couldn't figure out how),
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/douggowans/archive/2007/06/28/serviceconnectionpoints.aspx
This line in the blog got me thinking:
This url can be changed using the set-clientaccessserver cmdlet with the parameter -AutodiscoverServiceInternalURI.
That InternalURI got me thinking.  When I looked at a txtfile that I jolted down and saved of what I did during the install of Exch 2010,
Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity "exch2010" –AutodiscoverServiceInternalURI
https://mail.company.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "exch2010\EWS (Default Web Site)" –InternalUrl
https://mail.company.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Set-OABVirtualDirectory -Identity “exch2010\OAB (Default Web Site)” -InternalURL
https://mail.company.com/OAB
I figured, let's try changing them to:
Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity "exch2010" –AutodiscoverServiceInternalURI
https://exch2010/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "exch2010\EWS (Default Web Site)" –InternalUrl
https://exch2010/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Set-OABVirtualDirectory -Identity “exch2010\OAB (Default Web Site)” -InternalURL
https://exch2010/OAB
I entered those commands in EMS and executed them...then I loaded up OL 2010 and OL 2007.  It's been 30 min and nothing has popped up!!!
Silly me..I think why I did mail.company.com was that I was following a couple of guides that were posted out there on the internet on exchange 2010 and they just entered mail.company.com into there.  But I think their guides are for networks where
the internal domain and external domain are the same.  ie company.com for both insdie and outside.
I am going to install KB2553248 back onto my Win 7/OL 2010 workstation and see if that breaks it.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

  • Outlook 2010 Annoying login dialog box keeps popping up

I have a client on Exchange 2010. They're using Outlook 2010. ONE employee keeps getting a popup login screen for some reason. I don't know why but it appears to be tied to the HTTP settings 9n the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings section. I did not set
these on the client side but it keeps populating and the authentication is BASIC. This is a desktop computer (does not travel outside the LAN) so I don't need this setup. But when I uncheck the HTTP proxy settings option it keeps coming back.
Why is this happening and how can I turn this off for this user?
Note: it does not affect Outlook's ability to access email. He usually just closes the dialog box but it keeps coming back (and this is the business owner, of course...couldn't happen to a low level worker, you know.)

    Hi,
I have seen this problem on pretty much every SBS2011 deployment I have undertaken (and has only affected 1 or 2 users at each site which I have always thought strange)
Try this from an exchange shell
    [PS]> Get-OutlookAnywhere | Set-OutlookAnywhere -IISAuthenticationMethod NTLM -ClientAuthenticationMethod NTLM

  • Iphone 6 sometimes syncs with outlook 2010 calendar and sometimes it won't.  I manually sync to a laptop.

How do I get my iphone 6 to sync with outlook 2010 calendars and contacts everytime?  I have the correct boxes checked in ITunes and sync to a laptop.

I am using Outlook 2010.  I bought the Iphone 6 yesterday.  My contacts are syncing perfectly - I created a test contact in outlook and it synced to the phone.  However, my calendar is not syncing.
    I have tried

  • Outlook 2010 Authentication prompt

I have OUTLOOK 2010 connecting to Exchange 2010 (fully patched/etc. with proper CAS array settings/etc.).
We are seeing Password Authentication prompts from Outlook clients as they transition between a LAN connection to a Wireless connection. I have always attributed this to the client moving from MAPI mode to "Outlook Anywhere" mode, which in "Outlook
Anywhere" mode we have BASIC authentication enabled, so a prompt is expected (offsite is the concept).
HOWEVER since the workstation is moving from a LAN connection to a WIRELESS internal connection and the CAS array is available, WHY would I be seeing this prompt? My expectation is the workstation would stay in MAPI connectivity mode as it transitions from
the LAN connection to the wireless connection and no prompt would be expected?? Is it a "timing" issue?
    THANKS

For us, the changes made in IIS are permanent, there quite possibly is a powershell way of doing it but I am still getting to grips with PS myself so I don't know.
I wont plagiarise others work but these two links here give a good explanation between Basic and NTLM. personally, I have always used basic because I always seem to get problems with NTLM, though one time it did work as expected but I forgot what I did to
    get it working now.

  • Flash player permission box pops up but won't go away

This little annoying box that aways pops up wanting permission to store things onto my laptop pops up and will not go away. How do I get rid of it? I have tried the settings box, checking the tiny box for it to not ask again but it keeps popping up anyways.

Websites might occasionally want to store information, such as your high score from a game that runs in  Flash Player or what products you have purchased, to your computer. In the Global Storage Settings panel, you can control how much disk space websites can use to store information, or you can prohibit websites from storing any information at all. (If you prohibit websites from storing information, the website might or might not function as intended.)
Use this panel to specify the default storage settings for websites that you haven't yet visited. (To change settings for websites you have already visited, use the Website Storage Settings panel.) The following list explains the storage options:
If you don't want to let applications from any website save information on your computer, and you don't want to be asked again, select Never Ask Again. This action doesn't delete any information that is already stored. (To delete existing information, use the Delete options in the Website Storage Settings panel.)
If you want to decide on a case-by-case basis whether applications from a website can save information on your computer, move the slider to the far left (None). Each time an application wants to save information on your computer, you will be asked for more disk space.
If you want to let applications from any website save as much information on your computer as they need to, move the slider to the far right (Unlimited).
If you want to let applications from any website save information on your computer, but want to limit the amount of disk space they can use, move the slider to select 10 KB, 100 KB, 1 MB, or 10 MB. If an application needs more space than you have allotted, you will be asked for more disk space while the application is running.
(Flash Player 8 and later) If you do not want to let third-party content store information on your computer, deselect Allow Third-Party Content To Store Data On Your Computer.
When you visit a website, the address shown in the browser address bar is usually where most of the website is located. For example, if you visit a fictional website www.[hotel].com, most of the website is located at www.[hotel].com. Sometimes, websites combine content from different sources. For example, www.[hotel].com might display a reservations form in Flash that actually comes from [reservations.hotel].com. The content from the latter website is called third-party content.
Third-party content might try to store information on your computer. In the hotel reservations example, you might be willing to let [reservations.hotel].com store information on your computer, such as data about which hotels you prefer, so that you can make a hotel reservation. However, you might not be willing to let third-party content store information on your computer in other situations. For example, a car-rental company, www.[my-car-rental].com, might have a banner ad on www.[hotel].com, to track your website usage or to record your preferences.
To prohibit all third parties from storing information on your computer, deselect Allow Third-Party Content To Store Data On Your Computer. This option is available only with Flash Player 8 and later. Adobe recommends that you upgrade to the most recent version of Flash Player available.
(Flash Player 9.0.115.0 and later) If you do not want to store Flash components on your computer, deselect Store Common Flash Components To Reduce Download Times.
Flash Player lets you store common or shared SWF and FLV files and other components from different websites on your computer to significantly reduce download times and allow faster viewing. For example, www.[hotel].com and [reservations.hotel].com might both use the same Adobe components on their sites.

  • IPhone 6plus sync to Outlook 2010 by USB cord but won't sync new contacts or calendar items

I just upgraded to an IPhone 6 and use Outlook 2010 (not in the Cloud).  plugged the phone into the computer using USB cord, synced everything over but there isn't any transfer of new contact or calendar items between the two.
I've tried resetting the sync history, replacing the phone info with the computer info, double checking the different calendars that are associated but nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?

    Hi,
You are trying to sync iPhone and Outlook 2010 with iTunes for Windows via USB, right?
Seems you've tried the most common solutions (reset Sync history and replace information on iPhone) for this kind of issue, but to no avail. To continue to troubleshoot the issue, I would suggest we first try following steps:
Disable third-party Outlook add-ins. Outlook third-party add-ins sometimes might interfere with the communication between iTunes and Outlook. Go to
    File>Options>Add-Ins>click
COM Add-ins in the Manage list>Click
Go, in the dialog, deselect the checkbox for each third-party add-in in the list.
Try to sync with a new Windows user. A corrupted Windows user profile sometimes will cause this issue.
Please note that Outlook synchronization support for iPhone, iPod touch, and iTunes is provided by Apple support. If issue persists, I would suggest you to contact Apple support for further assistance.
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.

Yes, this problem has been reported already in the CS4 Beta
    forum.
    Reading
that topic, it appears that only Mac users reported the error
so far, and the only way out was to quit and restart Fireworks. I
think it would be a good idea to post your case there too.

  • Grey fill box won't go away

    Hi,
I'm having trouble eliminating this grey fill box in the middle of my blank background. It must be from the wire frames that I created for this website, but I can't figure out why it won't go away. If you look on the right side of this screen shot, you'll see that I have all of the wireframe layers hidden. Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Gordon

I turned off openGL and tried changing the magnification. Neither seem to make a difference.
I think you're right in that it was part of the background layer. I filled it with white and the grey box dissapeared.
    Thank you : )

  • "Highlight Property Value" dialogue box won't go away! Help! CS2

Have a page that I'm working on, now every 5 seconds or so a box pops up "Highlight Property Value" asking me to enter name and value of CSS property. No amount of canceling or entering data gets rid of it.
Never have seen this box in all my years of GoLive.
Tried quitting and reopening GL, but still there.
    CS2 on Leopard.

Installed as another user-set to admin, but this means I cannot work on any of my existing sites (since they are assigned to the other user- got error message). really hard to troubleshoot this way.
Created a new page and did as many quick tasks I I could think of, but did not get the box.
Logged out and then back in as original user to work on another site and was able to do a few tasks before the box popped up again. Once the box pops up, it's regularly every 5 seconds in all modes source, preview or layout
I had had Leopard installed for a few weeks before this problem started.
Could I have missed purging the offending Adobe file in the last reinstall I did on the main user?
Is there an Apple pref that might have something to do with it?
Prefs were easy, but it seems as though CS3 and CS2 Suites have some common named files in the Library. I am installing from the Suite disks. If I completely remove all the files that the CS2 deinstall instructions say to delete, can I be assured that I won't be deleting a critical CS3 file of the same name?
Would love to disable that highlight function any way possible -I've never used it.
