Paradox Connection Error in Crystal XI Release 2
I am trying to create\run a report in Crystal Reports XI Release 2.
The database is a Paradox 10 database. The table contains a password that does not change.
At initial setup everything works and runs fine but when I attempt to revisit and run the report I receive the following error:
Database Connector Error:
'DAO Error Code:0xc59'
Source:DAO Fields
Description: Could not decrypt file'
Database Connector Error
I practically have to recreate the report to run it again.
based on previous posts , some other users had a similar issue with Microsoft Excel and the recommendation was to open the file but i receive the following error message with the paradox table open
Database Connector Error:
'DAO Error Code:oxccb
Source: DAO.Fields
Description: Unexpected error from external database driver(11270)'
Any insight will be helpful.
Hi Blessing,
Any CR patches installed? There have been issues with the Microsoft DAO engine and the work around is to use ODBC by creating a System DSN.
Specifically with the new Vista and Windows 7 support. You could try searching Microsofts site to see if they support it an what versions or requirements are needed.
Thank you

Database Connection error in Crystal Reports using SAP BW system
Hi,
While using Crystal Reports in trying to build a report on the SAP Query in SAP/BW System using the MDX driver, I am able to get the structure of the query fields into the report but on the other hand while trying to refresh the report for data I am getting the error message u201C Failed to connect to the databaseu201D . This database connection error occurs despite the fact that the SAP server authentication details being entered on Refreshing the report is correct.
What could be the possible reason? Any guess...
Thanks,
AmoghHi,
Yes, I am using the MDX driver.
Is there any pre-requisites of importing certain ABAP transports into SAP Server since I haven't done any? Please recommend.
Thanks,
Amogh -
JDBC connection error in Crystal Reporting through ESRI Dekho product
Wow, I am so far out of my depth here I am not even sure I am in the correct forum. I have recently started using the GIS software ESRI product Dekho (a web based browser basically) and the reporting tool is Crystal Reports. The JDBC connection required for me to connect to data held in a corporate oracle db is failing with a driver error and I don't know how to troubleshoot it. ESRI support seem to think it's a Crystal Reports issue. If anyone has any idea what I am talking about please respond, including pointing me to a forum which might assist, if this one is not where I should be asking such a question. Thanks in advance.
Simon here from Esri Australia, I work in the support team for the Dekho product, that this client was having problems with.
We established that our Dekho product was passing the relevant information over to Crystal and that Crystal was having issues connecting to a database due to an issue with Crystal not having the correct JBDC drivers installed.
= Therefore we concluded that the client should get in touch with you to resolve these JDBC driver issues.
The error in the report is:
['Failed to open the connection, Details:JDBC driver not found"|http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/jak-c/Outlook1.jpg]
We believe that the issue is specifically a Crystal Reports issue on connecting to an Oracle database.
If we take Dekho out of the equation, the issue is still apparent.
We did some testing on Oracle XE and were able to get it to communicate with Crystal Reports ok.
We had to make the following change:
1. copied the database drivers from:
C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\jdbc\lib
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\Common\4.0\java\lib\external\
2. Edit "C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\Common\4.0\java\lib" to include the above JAR file into the classpath tag.
We touch on this in [our own web-help|http://www.dekho.com.au/help/31/default.htm?turl=Documents%2Fconfigurecrystalreports.htm], although this is more specific to SQL Server.
The client had problems setting up this Crystal Reports to Oracle link, due to drivers missing.
Can you generate a support ticket for this client and assist her with getting CR drivers working with her version of Oracle?
As a sidenote - Esri Australia is a distributor for Esri, and not sure if the OEM extends to us?
We would like to get a better relationship with you on how to deal with Crystal related issues with our own product.
For issues like the above, we would like to come up with a more efficient means for our clients to get resolutions to their issues, and if the issue stems to outside our product - a good process for our support team to log a ticket on behalf of our client and pass all the relevant info across, so that a solution can be resolved quickly.
- Do you have a contact in Australia that we could talk to about this?
Let me know if you need the clients contact details - I believe this is still an issue for her. -
Connection error with Crystal Report XI, VB6 and Sybase ASE15
Hello !
I have an error #4002 when I want to launch a report in VB6 with the ActiveX Crystal Report Viewer.
I use Sybase ASE 15 with an ODBC link and the reports run stored procedures.
This error seems to be an authentification error, but I don't know what parameters are missing or wrong...
- My reports works well in the report designer.
- The reports connected to a text file or an ADO recordset work in VB6.
- The Verify Database works in design mode in VB6.
- The problem is the same with tables, stored procedures, SQL and with or without parameters...
- I tried to connect the report to a DataEnvironnment but I get the same error.
The problem appears when I use the Crystal Wizard to create a form automatically AND when I create objects directly in code like :
Dim crapp As CRAXDRT.Application
Dim oReport As CRAXDRT.Report
Set crapp = New CRAXDRT.Application
Set oReport = crapp.OpenReport("C:\myreport.rpt")
CRViewer.ReportSource = oReport
CRViewer.viewReport
Please help !Hello,
I don't see any database logon code in what you posted. You need to log onto the database at runtime since Crystal Reports will never store passwords.
You can download and review the [Connection Properties|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00635998-751e-2b10-9cba-f50ee1e4ef81] document for more information on how to log onto your database at runtime. This document was written for CR9, but it's the same for CR10, CR XI (v11.0), and CR XI R2 (v11.5).
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,

Crystal XI R2, Salesforce 3.0, Windows 7 64-bit, Java connection error
All,
I've got the same problem as this thread -- Re: CR XI R2: Salesforce 3.0 driver on Windows 7 64-bit?
Crystal XI R2, Salesforce 3.0 downloaded from the Crystal page. Using Windows 7 64-bit. Have applied SP 5 per another thread.
Continue to get JAVA error. Java being used is 1.4 as installed by Crystal in the Crystal program directory.
thanks, jhbDon,
Still no go. I get the same error.
I uninstalled SP6, SP5, Salesforce Connector, and Crystal XI R2 SP2 and then re-installed everything.
1) Crystal XI R2 SP2
2) Salesforce connector 3.0
3) SP5
4) SP6
Still get the same Java Connection error. I've also disabled Windows Firewall. I'm not behind a proxy. I've tried with and without the security token.
thanks, jhb -
I get the above error within CR XI Developer when I try to connect an ODBC link to a Visual FoxPro database (.DBC).
The full messsage is:
Database Connection Error: '42S02:[Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver] Not a table. [Database Vender code: 123]'
This is a headache and any assistance in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.Hi Bob,
First you should go to this link: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc and download the trial version of CR XI R2 and use your XI keycode, then apply the patches which you can get to by clicking on the BusinessObjects tab above, then Downloads.
Direct link to the Trial version: http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
Download SP5 and then test again. If it's still an issue we can at least escalate the problem. CR Xi is past it's supported life cycle meaning no patches will be released.
Have you tried using any other database connection methods to see if those work? May be an issue with the ODBC driver. Try downloading the latest MDAC from microsoft also.
Thank you

Failed to open connection error message on Crystal Server
I have recently upgraded my desktop to Windows 7. Crystal Reports XI Developer works fine on this new system as it did on my earlier Vista system. I can create and run reports with no problems on each of these system using Developer.
The problem I am experiencing is this: when I publish, using the Publishing Wizard, a report on my Crystal Server using my Windows 7 system, the report does not work. Instead, the error message: 'Failed to open connection' appears from Crystal Report Viewer.
If I open the same report using my Developer license on my old Vista machine and then re-save it, I can publish it to my CR Server and it runs successfully.
ODBC is used on all systems and all appear to be 32 bit versions, albeit different version numbers.
This problem can be repeated with any of the many reports currently in use.HI Don,
Let's see if I understand what you're saying:
When a report is created on a legacy desktop in CR Developer, the ODBC connection on that computer works with direct access to the SQL Server 2008 on my Windows Server 2003 R2 system. I can then also publish these using the Publishing Wizard to the CRS these same reports and they run successfully; no connection issues, works great.
However, when a report is created on my 64 bit Windows 7 desktop in CR Developer, the ODBC connection on that computer also works well with direct access to the SQL Server 2008 on my Windows Server 2003 R2 system. BUT, when I then publish these using the Publishing Wizard to the CRS these same reports do NOT successfully connect to the database and that is when I get the Crystal Viewer message about the connection failed.
So, I would assume then that Crystal Server on my Windows Server 2003 system is similar enough to older MDAC criteria on legacy systems but different enough my Win7 desktop to introduce the problem even though Developer on that same Win7 system works fine directly against the SQL DB.
If this is all correct, then I either need a legacy MDAC to work on my Win7 system, or an updated MDAC\WDAC for Crystal Server to use.
By the way, I'm using ODBC and here are some details from the Component Checker:
Server:
MDAC 2.8 SP2 on Windows Server 2003 SP2
Desktops:
MDAC 2.8 SP1 on Windows XP SP3 - on an XP machine that works fine
UNKNOWN on Vista (but it works fine with CRS)
UNKNOWN on Windows 7 - (doesn't work with CRS - must be a different UNKNOWN than on Vista)
Thanks for your assistance as this is rather important -
Bob. -
Error: Failed to open the connection when opening Crystal Report in CMC or
Hello all,
I am getting theError: Failed to open the connection when opening Crystal Report in CMC or Infoview
with access database as the datasource which is in the network drive.Hi Sonali,
This is because Crystal Reports does not recognize database connection from share drive
1. Save the database locally on server machine
2. Create a new database on server and link the new database with the database on Network.
Steps to link the database.
1.Create a new test database on server.
2. Go to File --> Get External Data --> Link tables | Select the database on Network Drive.
3. Select all the tables from the database.
4. Save the Database e.g. Test.mdb.
5. Create an ODBC Connection on server machine, with the same name as on client machine using test.mdb database.
Note: Click on Advanced button, enter the default user id and password for the odbc connection, it is not mandatory to give Login Name and Password, only if the user id and password are given then we need to provide the same user id and password in the CMC database configuration.
6. Create a report using this ODBC connection, and save the report to Enterprise.

Regards,
Mahesh.Hi,
Please follow this steps:
Creating RFC Destinations in the ABAP and Java Environment
You need to create the following RFC destinations in transaction SM59 (ABAP) and the Visual Administrator (Java):
u2022 AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
u2022 AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
u2022 LCRSAPRFC
u2022 SAPSLDAPI
Depending on your client settings, it may be necessary to be logged on your SAP Exchange Infrastructure host as SAP system user with the authorization to maintain customizing tables and to release transport orders. Note, that user "SAP*" or "DDIC" does not have these authorizations.
Maintaining the RFC Connections (Transaction SM59)
1. Log on to your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host.
2. Call transaction SM59.
3. Choose Create.
4. Enter at least the following:
RFC destination: AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
Connection type: T
Description: <your description>
5. Choose ENTER
6. Choose the tab Technical settings and do the following:
a. Select Registered Server Program
b. In the Program ID field, enter: AI_RUNTIME_<SID> where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your Integration Server host. Use uppercase letters only.
c. Enter Gateway host and Gateway service of your Integration Server host. To find out the required parameters:
a. On the Integration Server host, call transaction SMGW
b. Choose Goto u2192 Parameters u2192 Display (see entries for gateway hostname and gateway service)
7. Choose tab Special Options and select the flag Unicode in the box Character Width in Target System.
8. Save your settings.
9. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 8 for the remaining destinations:
Destination
Values
AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
Program ID: AI_DIRECTORY_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host
LCRSAPRFC
Program ID: LCRSAPRFC_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
SAPSLDAPI
Program ID: SAPSLDAPI_<SID>, where <SID> is the SAP system ID of your SAP XI host.
10. Leave the transaction SM59 open for later tests.
J2EE Configuration for the Destinations (Visual Administrator)
1. On your SAP Exchange Infrastructure central instance host, start the J2EE Engine administration tool.
2. Choose Cluster u2192 Server u2192 Services u2192 JCo RFC Provider
3. In the section RFC destination, enter exactly the same program ID and gateway options for AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER that you used in the step Maintaining the RFC connection above. Additionally, set the number of processes to 10.
4. In the section Repository, do the following:
a. Enter the parameter for the SAP XI host: Application Server, System Number, Client and Language.
b. For User and Password maintain the login parameters for the user SAPJSF.
c. Select the flag Unicode.
6. Choose Set.
7. Repeat the steps 3 u2013 6 for the remaining destinations:
Destination
Values
AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
u2022 Number of processes: 10
LCRSAPRFC
u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
u2022 Number of processes: 3
SAPSLDAPI
u2022 Corresponding values from SM59
u2022 Number of processes: 3
Testing the RFC Destination
After you have maintained all RFC destinations in both the ABAP and Java environment, you can check all the connections above as follows:
1. Call transaction SM59 again.
2. Open your RFC destination.
3. Choose Test Connection. No error should be displayed.
This will solve your problem.
Thanks

Also I am not able to register this program id in Visual Admin -> Services -> JCo RFC Provider. Here it is giving me an error. Can anyone guide me in this?
Points to be rewarded for any kind of small help. Thanks Ramesh.
I followed the blog. Here are the steps that I did.
RFC destination:
1. To create the RFC go to TCODE: SM59 <b>-> Done</b>2. Create new destination of type T (TCP/IP) <b>-> Done</b>
3. Make sure you select Registered Server Program option before writing your program ID <b>-> Done</b>
4. Write you program ID (remember it's case-sensitive) <b>-> gave the SID name</b>
5. In the gateway host and gateway service write the values of your "Application system" - business system (not the XI server) <b>-> Typed the gateway hostname and gateway service "sapgw<instance no>", that I got from SMGW.</b>
But still I face the same problem. It get the following error:
