Outlook 2013 Inbox stops working

For the past 2 months about once a week a couple of people stop receiving their mail in Outlook. They can send mail and mail sent to them shows up in webmail/phone apps but Outlook refuses to receive it. I have been fixing it by recreating the profile.
I tried clearing Inbox cache but after that it just stays retrieving messages forever.
We are using Office 365 with Exchange online. Outlook 2013 is set up with an Exchange account. Other people using same settings work fine.
So far I have been asking this question on Office 365 forums who sent me to Outlook 2013 forums and they sent me over here.
Any ideas what might be causing this problem or how to fix it permanently?

Hi rhassall,
Thank you for your post.
We do the follow steps to test:
1.Run in Clean Boot.
If window operation system is Window8 or Windows 8.1:
(1).Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap
Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click
Search.
(2).Type msconfig in the search box, and then tap or click
msconfig.
(3).On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the
Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click
Disable all.
(4).On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click
Open Task Manager.
(5).On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click
Disable.
(6).Close Task Manager.
(7).On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click
OK, and then restart the computer.
If window operation system is Window7 or Windows Vista:
(1).Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
(2).Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the
Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you should type the password or provide confirmation.
(3).On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the
Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
(4).On the Services tab, click to select the
Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.
Note This step lets Microsoft services continue to run. These services include Networking, Plug and Play, Event Logging, Error Reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you
may permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use the System Restore utility together with existing restore points.
(5).Click OK, and then click Restart.
2
Create a new Outlook profile.
(1).Exit Outlook.
(2).In Control Panel, click or double-click Mail.
Where is Mail in Control Panel?
Mail appears in different Control Panel locations depending on the version of the Microsoft Windows operating system, Control Panel view selected, and whether a 32- or 64-bit operating system
or version of Microsoft Outlook is installed.
The easiest way to locate Mail is to open Control Panel in Windows, and then in the Search box at the top of window, type
Mail. In Control Panel for Windows XP, type Mail in the
Address box.
Note
The Mail icon appears after Outlook starts for the first time.
The title bar of the Mail Setup dialog box contains the name of the current profile. To select a different existing profile, click
Show Profiles, select the profile name, and then click Properties.
(3).Click Show Profiles.
(4).Click Add.
(5).Type a name for the profile, and then click OK.
(6).export contacts and calendar from the original profile and import to new profile
If it still does not work, we collect Outlook logging for further troubleshooting.
We enable outlook logging by the following steps:
On the File tab, click Options.
In the Outlook Options dialog box, click
Advanced.
In the
Other section, select Enable troubleshooting logging (requires restarting Outlook), and then click
OK.
Restart Outlook 2013, reproduce the issue, and then close Outlook.
Click Start, click Run, and then type %temp%.
Locate the Outlook-########.etl file.
An internal Microsoft tool must be used to open the logs. A Microsoft support agent will investigate the logs.
Note It is important to turn off logging after you complete your troubleshooting. If logging is not turned off, the log files continue to increase.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
Best regard,
Jim

  • Emails show up on web but not in Outlook 2013 inbox

I have several email accounts and one of them that is working fine on Outlook 2013 is set up as a Microsoft Exchange account. But the other ones are set up as IMAP/SMTP accounts and the emails don't show up in the inbox, only on the web. When I check the
settings and run a test, everything goes through fine. Why don't the emails show up in my Outlook 2013 inbox? Help!

    Hi,
What's the build number of Outlook you are using? Please first make sure you have installed all available updates. This is because Microsoft has released an update before which has fixed several IMAP issues in Outlook 2013. See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2837618
If above doesn't fix the issue, we may also try the following steps to see the result:
    1. Open Outlook, click File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings.
    2. Double-click your IMAP account to open the Change Account
    wizard.
    3. Click More Settings button, click Advanced tab.
    4. Under Folders heading, type Inbox in the blank box.
    5. Click OK and then click Next to complete the configuration.
Please let me know the result.

  • TS4062 I keep getting the error message "apple outlook DAV has stopped working"

My phone and I pad all of the sudden just stopped syncing with my desktop.  I have had my phone for over a year when 4s first came out and everything was syncing fine.  Then all the sudden it stopped.  I keep getting the error message "apple outlook DAV has stopped working".  I have rebooted, checked for duplicates, signed in and out of the cloud and still nothing.  Has anyone had this problem and know of a good way to handle it.  Also, now my phone and Ipad don't sync with the cloud either.  Please help.

Windows 7 Professional.  I meant that when I open a word doc and want to turn it into a PDF, i get the same error message.  In the mean time I paid the $40.00 and spoke to Adobe and after 40 minutes, they re-installed Reader X instead of XI so now it works but I am not overly thrilled that I had to pay for it.

  • "Outlook client has stopped working"

When performing sync operation I get the following error message: "Outlook client has stopped working".

Glad that your sync is working again
Check if  resetting the sync history works with the calendar issue.
iTunes --> Edit --> Preferences -->Devices --> Reset Sync History
    And then sync again
(Though, for me I had to permanently switch to a new data file in Outlook 2007 and sync things again)

  • Cannot receive email in my Outlook 2013 Inbox

I am running Windows 8 and using Outlook 2013, IMAP. My laptop has stopped receiving emails; they do not show up in the inbox. Nothing had changed; it just stopped working. I can send emails, but emails received since this problem started are not in my Outlook
Inbox. Emails prior to this are visible in the Inbox, however.
I have checked the port settings, root path directory, and other Outlook settings. I have disabled all add-ins. When I log into my email via webmail, the emails are in the IMAP Inbox. I have checked the Account, and Outlook logs in and sends an email test
message correctly; it appears on my mobile phone, but not in my Outlook Inbox.
I ran the Outlook repair tool, and it fixed a minor issue. Nothing has worked here. Any ideas appreciated.

The quickest way to test this email account using the least amount of time is to create a new Outlook profile and configure the Imap account. A new .OST file will be created. Simply make the new profile the default so it's used the next time Outlook is opened.
There's no requirement to delete the original profile and in fact - DO NOT delete the old profile since you will lose your contacts/calendar/tasks at this stage.
The above scenario won't identify exactly "why" things stopped working but at least you'll know very quickly whether it's profile related or not. If you only have one email account and your "mail" component works then you'll need to do
the following to get your old contacts/calendar/tasks contained in the old profile since these are only stored "locally".
From within the original Outlook profile (the one where the Mail component has stopped working)
    - create a new PST file
    - copy the contacts/calendar/task folders from your original OST to the new PST
    - close Outlook and switch to the new working Profile
    - from the new profile - open the PST file
File --> Open & Export --> Open Outlook Data File (select the new PST file that was created
    - copy the contents of those folders to the equivalent folders in the OST file (those will show as (This Computer Only) - when done
    - right-click on the root of the PST file --> close
    OR.........................(something to seriously consider regardless)
    - instead of copying the items from the PST file to the OST file click on
File --> Account Settings --> Data Files tab --> make the PST file the "default" for the profile
(that will result in the contact/calendar/task folders being the default eliminating the risk of losing this data in the event you ever inadvertently delete the Imap account that created the OST file. You can't open an OST file separately if the email account
ever gets deleted nor can it be assigned when re-configuring the account the way you can using a POP account.)

  • Microsoft Office 2013 has stopped working

Please can you help?  My PC is running Windows 8 Professional Plus 64 bit.  I downloaded and installed Microsoft Office 2013 32 bit and it worked perfectly until I changed my graphics card to an Asus Radeon HD6450 Silent.  Since then, all
the programmes, Outlook, Word, Excel etc. have stopped working.  I have Microsoft Office 2010 32 bit installed as well and that is still working fine.
I have tried removing COM Add-ins and have also repaired MS Office 2013 but neither have worked.  I have read the KB article but the driver dlumd32.dll does not appear to be installed on my machine.  All the applications will run in Safe Mode.
I have uninstalled Office 2013 and re-installed it but at the end of the installation I got the ‘Microsoft Office has stopped working’ message.

    Hi Lesley,
By checking the event log you provided, it seems this problem also occurs with Internet Explorer, isn't it?
And most of them are related to the atidxx32.dll file, I'd suggest we remove the graphics driver and see if this problem will still occur, if no, try to install any ohter version of graphics driver to see if this problem will still occur.

  • Cannot recieve email in Outlook 2013 Inbox

Set up Exchange Outlook 2013 email. Everything worked in the setup, however Outlook will only send but not receive inbox messages. Set up in Windows Mail and Apple phone and all is good. Only Inbox messages in Outlook not working.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that outlook client can send but not receive messages.
I want to double confirm some points, please help me to collect answers to following questions:
1.How is the impact , one user or all users?
    2.Cannot receive internally or externally?
3.How about receiving by using OWA?
4.Any error messages when cannot receive?
If OWA works fine, this indicate that an issue on the Outlook client side.
Please check whether the messages exist in the Junk E-mail folder. If yes, please re-configure the Junk E-mail Filter.
Please run Outlook safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins, or re-create profile for testing.
Please Send/Receive all Folder or Update Folder in Outlook.
Also try to collect related error message for the further troubleshooting.

  • Outlook 2013 - Inbox not showing count of unread emails

Ever since moving to Outlook 2013, some of our users are experiencing issues where their inbox does not show the count of unread emails. These user's are working in cached exchange mode. Taking them out of cached exchange mode, deleting OST file and then
putting back in cached exchange mode usually resolves the issue. However, this is only temporary and the problem comes back. We are running Exchange 2010.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue for good?
    Thanks.

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the problem of Outlook 2013, please follow these steps: -
I was also having the same problem. At the top of the
Inbox, I clicked “Unread” (which is new to
Outlook 2013, and different than the Unread, Mail search folder). It showed a message, something like,
“there are more items on the server”, and gave me a link to view the items. When I clicked the link, no items appeared, but my unread mail indicator on my
    Inbox went away.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • "Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Professional Stopped Working" When I'm Trying To Install

So for a college class we were given a link to a visual studio exe file.  Visual Studio 2013 Professional Update 2.

  • Weird emails showing in Outlook 2013 Inbox after Exchange 2013 PST Import

    Hi there,
I've just done an Import PST from Exchange 2013 using the GUI, and when it is finished, I then open Outlook 2013 I am seeing a few strange emails in the Inbox.
The PST's were from Outlook 2007, and were previously used in with POP mail.
    The message is like this:
Subject: Undeliverable: Not read: RE: Re: information
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject:  Not read: RE: Re: information
          Sent:     20/04/2014 11:08 p.m.
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
          Big John on 20/04/2014 11:11 p.m.
Diagnostic code = MailRecipientUnknown; Reason code = TransferImpossible; Status code = 511
                < #5.1.1 smtp;550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found>
The date and time of the message is during the import process.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
From a PST of around 8GB, I ended up with about 50 of these type of messages, mostly to the same recipients, but there were some different ones. From a mailbox of about 3GB, I got about 5 of these messages. From the smaller mailboxes I got none.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve.

    Hi Steve,
Please verify whether this issue occur in OWA.
If everything is OK in OWA, it seems the .pst import completed successfully. Let's perform troubleshooting on the Outlook client side.
    1. Please run Outlook under the safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
    2. Please try to re-create profile to refresh the caches.
    3. Please also check whether the missing messages in others' folders or subfolders.
I want to know that why you exported to .pst from Outlook 2007 and imported it into Exchange 2013. Did you migrated Exchange server from 2007/2010 to 2013?
If it is the case, I suggest moving mailbox from Exchange 2007/2010 to Exchange 2013.
Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.
    Thanks

  • HT204150 outlook dav config stopped working

Hi. Every time I try and set up the iClound Control panel and tick contacts mail etc, it stops at 720 of 725 contacts and I get following message 'Apple Outlook DAV config has stopped working'. Have latest updates. I suspect that one of my Contacts has an error of some sort. How do I find which Contact is causing the error and what the error is? Thank you.

Here is what you can do to get this working:
I deleted old calendar items, up to the end of last month, the current month seems to sync ok (some will delete up through yesterday). I used a details view in Outlook and sorted it by date, and deleted past calendar items. In the case of recurrent appointments, I chose to delete only the instances, not the recurring event.
I then used the Microsoft PST Repair tool, usually located in (depending on your office version, 12,14 and x86 or x64):
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\scanpst.exe
run it on your PST , usually located:
    disk drive:\users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
After performing both of these functions, I was able to setup iCloud without a problem.
    YMMV but hope this helps.

  • Calendar synchronisation with Outlook 2013 doesn't work

    Hello,
I recently installed Outlook 2013 on my new Windows 8.1 notebook and would now like to synchronize my calender and contacts with my iPhone 5.
For the contacts everything works fine, but the calender just doesn't synchronize properly. The events from my Outlook calender are taken to my phone, but all the calenders from my phone won't appear in Outlook.
Furthermore, everytime I try to synchronize the calendars all reminders for the events, as well as all recurring events are deleted on my iPhone, which is VERY annoying.
Does anybody have an idea where's the problem? Are there some configurations I have to do in Outlook?
I'm using the most current version of iTunes (12.0.1)
    Thanks!
    Marcus

On your iPhone, verify that the iCloud calendar is the default for new entries (Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Calendars>Default Calendar)

I have windows 7 on my system and sometime late last year I starrted getting a Windows dialog telling me that LabWindows/CVI has stopped working when I try to open a file from the project file menu.  I also get an error when I run a project debug mode and use a selectFilePopup in the code.  The error says, "The program has suspended execution at address 0x75D5025E.  No source line information is available."  I've tried removing and reinstalling CVI to no avail.  Any suggestions?

    Constantin,
Thank you for your response.  I've attached screnshots showing the version details for kernal32.dll and ntdll.dll.  I also looked at the updates to see which might have been installed when the problem started.  Unfortunately there are 15-20 updates every month.  I didn't take note of when the error started to occur.  At first it only affected my ability to open files from within the project (i.e. file->open->Source, etc).  Then I went back to modify a project that had a SelectFilePopup and found that that wouldn't work either.

    Hi everybody,
We have a problem that our Outlook 2013 clients cant search public folders. Any search we try returns empty results. We are running exchange 2013. Outlook is running in cached mode.

    Hi

(and of course the caching and indexing must have been completed)
    The
