Outlook lookup Oracle database

Hi,
I there a way that Outlook client mail to lookup Oracle database and retrieve into GAL, or Contacts, or another folder a set of names and email addresses from the database?
Thanks,
Monica

Hi, Tomas -
Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
Outlook Express expects its database files to be in one of two places.
In cases where an older version of OE was updated to 5.x, they may be in an Identities folder in the Outlook Express application folder (where the older versions kept them).
Otherwise, OE expects them to be here - (hard drive) >> Documents >> Microsoft User Data >> Identities. In the Identities folder should be at least one folder, Main Identity - that's the default account (identity). If additional accounts have been made, there will be additional folders in the Identities folder, one for each account.
OS 9 does not like having the Documents folder inside any other folder, and will usually create a new Documents folder if an existing one has been moved elsewhere.
If OS 9 has created a new Documents folder, move the Microsoft User Data folder into it. Any folder by the same name in the new Documents folder should not contain any old info, so replacing it should not cause any problems.
If OS 9 did not create a new Documents folder, try moving the old one out of the Utilities folder, so that the Documents folder is at the root level of the drive (same level as the System Folder and the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder). Then restart, and try OE again.
You may need to rebuild the desktop - not a bad thing to do when a lot of files have been moved around, or after installing a bunch of stuff.
Note - although OS 9 and many of its programs (MS apps, AppleWorks, etc.) use the Documents folder for some of their support files, you do not need to use that folder for the documents you create.

  • Hyperlink target connects from Outlook e-mail to file in Oracle database

    Greetings.
    Due to lack of permissions, I cannot create text file on the UNIX server.
    This will not be changed.
    I have stored the file in the Oracle 11g database.
    I want to send e-mail from PL/SQL with attached file.
    No UNIX scripts at all.
    It is a big file.
    Thought crossed my mind.
    Can I send e-mail from PL/SQL containing a hyperlink which connects to the file stored in the Oracle database ?
    The link target is a file stored in the Oracle database.
    Has anyone done this before?
    Let me know your ideas.
    Thank you.

    No UNIX scripts at all.Can be done using UTL_SMTP or the newer UTL_MAIL.
    Attachments to e-mails are just that - the contents of the file is attached to the body of the mail. The mail arrives at its destination, the mail reader recognises the attachment and enables it to be saved to disk (or opened/viewed).
    This is standard stuff.. see MIME for details on how to construct a message body that includes attachments.

    The link target is a file stored in the Oracle database.Yes. You need a web server that has been configured with Oracle "+access+" - the default is using Oracle's Apache server that includes a module called mod_plsql. This module enables the web browser to use a URL that refers to a web enabled PL/SQL procedure in a specific database schema - and pass parameters (as part of the URL's query string) to the procedure.
    You can also use Oracle EPG (Extended Procedural Gateway I think is what the acronym means). This provides a web server directly inside the Oracle instance via the XDB (integrated XML database) option in Oracle. It too has a mod_plsql type module that provides an interface (via http) to web enabled PL/SQL procedures.
    This procedure can be a "+document download+" procedure. Oracle provides a system procedure called WPG_DOCLOAD.download_file()+ that you can use inside that web enabled PL/SQL procedure. This will return the contents of blob/clob as a "file" to the web browser.
    For example, a download web-enabled procedure will simplistically look something as follows:
    create or replace procedure downloadFile( fileName varchar2 ) is
            b       blob;
            mimeType varchar2(50);
    begin
            select
                file_content, mime_type  into b, mimeType
            from my_documents where file_name = fileName;
            OWA_UTIL.mime_header( mimeType, false );
            HTP.p('Content-Length: ' || DBMS_LOB.getlength(b));
            OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
            WPG_DOCLOAD.download_file( b );
    end;The URL will look something like:
    http://my-webserver.my-domain.com:7777/pls/ora/scott.downloadfile?filename=somefile.docwhere:
    scott.downloadfile = name of PL/SQL procedure
    filename=somefile.doc = parameter name values to pass to procedure

    What I usually do in situations like this is that I connect to the database using a sql client and the same connection information as I specified to OIM and see if the attribute is present.
    Perhaps you got the wrong db name? Or schema name?
    Everything looks good so most probably there simply is some little typo somewhere.

  • How to install oracle database 11g express edition on Windows 7

    Hi Guys,
    i am trying to download and install Oracle database 11g express edition on windows7 and i can't seem to get it right. i did get the download but when i try to install, it keeps saying it appears to be an invalid archive.
    Please help..

    Action - Refer to the logs or contact OracleFinding the problem is the key. "Refer to the logs" is the only option, XE has no oracle support offerings.
    Which plugin failed, and why did it fail will be important clues. There should be error messages in the log that will be helpful.
    Otherwise, we don't have much help to offer. Fixing a problem means identifying the problem and performing steps to correct it, if there a fix is available.
    A MOS lookup on the ins-20802 error has snippets from one installer session, this one is from an x64 install. Not x86. To paraphrase the details:
    ... Created a new file <drive>:<OH path>\cfgtoollogs\configToolAllCommands
    SEVERE: java.io.IOException: Access is denied
    ...So from those symptoms, the user trying to run the installer does not have appropriate rights on that drive and/or folder. The fix for that particular problem is adding the user to the local administrators group. And rerunning the install. After running the deinstall steps to clean up the installation. As specified in the XE install guide for Windows.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm
    Also note the System Requirements, it specifies a System architecture Intel x86, which is not X64. There is no X64 installer for XE on Windows. So it might work. Or it might not if your host is x64.
    So if that is your particular error, verify that your user is in the local admins group. Either use the local users and groups applet (Start/Run/lusrmgr.msc) and open up the Administrators group. Click the Add button. Find your user. If your OS user is a windows domain user, be sure you have authenticated to the domain.
    Try the `net ...` list of the adminis group, that should reveal whom is indeed in the local administrators group:
    net localgroup administrators
    Administrator
    <domain>\Domain Admins ... # ??? is the host in windows domain ???
    <domain>\Local Admins
    <domain>\<user1>
    <user2>
    <user3>
    echo %USERNAME%
    # if relevant:
    echo %USERDOMAIN%Like it also states in the Windows install guide, under Permission Required quote:
    ... must be a member of the Administrators group on Windows to install Oracle Database XE.

  • Connecting to Oracle database in Java using TNSNAMES.ora

    I have a program that can connect to both MSSQL and Oracle databases. It works fine when a user has defined an odbc connection, however if the user only has a tnsnames.ora, I don't know how to code the program in Java to connect to the database. I can't hard-code the server name because I don't know the database up front - I need to be able to read tnsnames.ora to get the information instead. How can I get this information? So far, the object OracleDataSource seems to be getting me the closest, however I am still failing to connect.

    In 10.2, JDBC-Thin supports TNSNAMES entries lookup in tnsnames.ora, resulting in a much simplified and driver type independent Oracle Net descriptor. You must set the system property oracle.net.tns_admin to the directory that contains your tnsnames.ora file.
    See the Oracle JDBC 10.2 doc.
    Here is a code fragment from my book (see my blog below)
    java -Doracle.net.tns_admin=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
    or:
    System.setProperty("oracle.net.tns_admin", "c:\oracle\net\admin");
    OracleDataSource ods = new OracleDataSource();
    ods.setTNSEntryName("tns_alias");
    ods.setUser("scott");
    ods.setPassword("tiger");
    ods.setDriverType("thin");
    Connection conn = ods.getConnection();

  • Populate OIM Lookup With Database Values

    I am trying to figure out a way to populate a lookup in OIM with values from an Oracle database. For example, I have a table containing a list of departments with their department ID. I would like to pull these values into a lookup.
    The AD connector's GroupReconTask is very similar to what I want to accomplish. I'm hoping to be able to create an adapter or task that will do something similar.
    Has anyone been successful in attempting something like this or knows of a possible way?

    You need to write a Java class extending com.thortech.xl.scheduler.tasks.SchedulerBaseTask. Use Thor.API.Operations.tcLookupOperationsIntf's methods addLookupValue/updateLookupValue to add/update the lookup values. Check out the Javadoc for more on the same.
    Here is the doc link on how to create a schduled task -> http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32479_01/doc.903/b32453/oimadm.htm#sthref302

  • Maaping Look up In mapping to an oracle database

    Hi all,
    I have to map the data from a web service into an oracle database. Until here is simple, but my problem is that I have to recover some data from the database during the mapping. I´m trying to follow the Blog Lookup’s in XI made simpler from Siva Maranani https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/2219. [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    My problem is that the bussines system is harcoded in the code, and in my case is not going to be the same BS throw all the enviroment Dev, test, prod. Any Idea how to make this indepent from the enviroment?
    Many thanks
    Regards
    Noelia

    maybe you can make your code dynamic by adding these;
    String sysName = (String) System.getProperty("SAPSYSTEMNAME");
    if(sysName.equals("<Development>")){
    else if(sysName.equals("<Test>")){
    Do try the same.

    hello....
    here is how i do it if i use access, i just set in my server.xml as bellow....
    <!-- PMOD Context -->
    <Context path="/pmod" docBase="pmod" debug="0" reloadable="true">
    <Logger className="org.apache.catalina.logger.FileLogger" prefix="localhost_pmod_log." suffix=".txt" timestamp="true"/>

    later i would call from my servlet as follows
    InitialContext initCtx = new InitialContext ();
    DataSource ds = (DataSource)initCtx.lookup ("java:comp/env/jdbc/pmodDb");
    conn = ds.getConnection();
    then i can establish connection to my database... but now i change to oracle and my server.xml i configure as follows
    <!-- PMOD Context -->
    <Context path="/pmod" docBase="pmod" debug="0" reloadable="true">
              <Logger className="org.apache.catalina.logger.FileLogger" prefix="localhost_pmod_log." suffix=".txt" timestamp="true"/>

    </Context>
    and i call from my servlet like before ...
    InitialContext initCtx = new InitialContext ();
    DataSource ds = (DataSource)initCtx.lookup ("java:comp/env/jdbc/pmodDb");
    conn = ds.getConnection();
    the datasource would return null in other word i cannot find the database
    however if i tried to establish connection directly,
    String u1 = "pmod_owner";
    String p1 ="pmod_owner";
    String path = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.9.200.2:1521:PMOD";
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection( path, u1, p1 );
    i can talk with the database....
    so if anyone out there can help me to point me where did i go wrong?
    fyi: i have put a lib which contains oracle jdbc driver called classes12.zip in my c:\tomcat\common\lib\
    thank you

  • GetConnection from Oracle Database Cloud Service

    I created a table at the internal JCS instance, and tried to create a web service to insert the data into the table. It's a simple insert operation, so I prefer to coding it without JPA or ADF business component.
    So far, the web service works, but it can't connect to database service.
    Here is my code snippet of the web service method which deployed on JCS, and the jndi name is database,
            try {
                Context ctx = new InitialContext();
                DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("database");
                conn = ds.getConnection();
                String sql = "insert into bvrequest(user_id,activity) values(?,?)";
                pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(sql);
                pstmt.setString(1, userid);
                pstmt.setString(2, activity);
                pstmt.executeUpdate();
                return "OK";
    The thrown exception is,
    weblogic.jdbc.extensions.PoolLimitSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceLimitException: No resources currently available in pool database to allocate to applications, please increase the size of the pool and retry..
    Is it a correct way to use Database Cloud Service? Any suggestion/comment is welcome.
    -Paula

    Hi Paula -
    I think you need to ask this question in the Java Cloud Service forum.  If you are trying to make a connection to a Database Cloud Service from Java outside the Oracle Public Cloud, you cannot do it with JDBC.  You can only use RESTful Web Services from outside the Oracle Public Cloud to access the Oracle Database Cloud.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to config the oracle database connection pool in IAS

    Hi,
    Does anyone who hows to config the oracle database connection pool in IAS?
    Thanks so much!!!
    [email protected]
    Jacky

    Jacky,
    You need do the following for oracle type4 driver:
    1) register the driver:
    $IAS_HOME/bin/jdbcsetup
    Driver Identifier: Oracle_Type4_816 (whatever name you like)
    Driver Classname: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Driver Classpath: .../classes12.zip (install this this zip file somewhere
    and add this zip into the Classpath later).
    2) DataSource Setup:
    start iAS Administration Tool (iASAT)
    Choose Database, unfold iAS1 (your app server instance),
    choose External JDBC Datasource -> add: DataSource Registration
    JNDI Name: yourPoolName
    Driver Type: Oracle_Type4_816 (select what you just register)
    DataSource Url: jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostName:portName:dbName
    Username: your_user_name
    Password: your_passwd
    (Datasource Pool: using defaults for now): you can also customrize the
    parameters for the pool.
    3. Add classes12.zip into CLASSPATH.
    In your application, you can use JNDI lookup to get the DataSource from
    which you get the connection from the pool.
    Hope this helps.
    Good luck.

  • Confused in oracle database firewall

    Dear all,
    I'm working on lab for oracle database firewall. Document on Oracle database Firewall reading have a lot of limit to understand for configuring.
    Anyone can help me in this lab:
    situation of lab:
    - Install oracle database firewall on one machine which have two networkd card, (for monitor only using span port group on switch).
    - For testing, I install local monitor on SQL express 2005 server (script for SQL server), Unfortunately, In this lab document don't give a solution for communicating between SQl server and Database Firewall, How can I configure SQL server to communicate with database firewall,
    thanks anh best regard,

    Hello, user12326737,
    I think you should check if you are following these guidelines:
    When using a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or later database, ensure that the database uses mixed-mode authentication.
    Local monitoring uses a source IP address of 0.0.0.0, and port 0, for statements originating from a console user or other process. The destination address (displayed in the traffic log) is the same as one of the protected databases being monitored.
    Local monitoring does not record duplicate SQL statements. It only records the last SQL statement in a set of duplicate SQL statements.
    Local Monitor does both a forward and reverse DNS lookup to determine if a session is from the local machine. If a DNS configuration is broken and prevents the server from doing the lookup successfully, then the Local Monitor cannot record console events. To ensure that Local Monitor records all local sessions, check that your DNS configuration is correct.
    If you do, then tell me.
    If you have any questions, ask.

  • Connecting Oracle DataBase through WebDynpro

    Hi,
    I created a Dynamic table, now I should display the data from Oracle Database. I tried in many various ways to connect to database, but the data is not retrieving.
    Can u explain the reasons and give necessary coding to retrieve the data.
    Its very very urgent.

    Hi
    I think you can do using the APIs provided by SAP.
    Check this link
    JDBC Reference
    or
    Try connectinc using lookup.
    try{
    InitialContext ctx=new InitialContext();
    javax.sql.DataSource ds=(javax.sql.DataSource)ctx.lookup("jdbc/SAPJ2EDB");
    java.sql.Connection con=ds.getConnection();
    java.sql.Statement stmt=con.createStatement();
    con.close();

  • Get outlook emails into database!

    Dear All,
    My Oracle database is 11gR1 and on Red Hat Linux Operating System.
    Our exchange server is MS exchange 2003 on windows 2003 advance server.
    I need to develop a mechanism that all my if we receive emails from customers, they are also ported into the database.
    I have no idea if it is possible. I will explore it myself please just give me few hints. How to start it.
    Thanks, Imran

    You need to interface with the Exchange Server in order to read a specific mail box e-mails.
    There are 2 standard protocols that can be used:
    - POP3 (<i>Post Office Protocol v3</i>)
    - IMAP (<i>Internet Message Access Protocol</i>)
    These protocols are open standard protocols. However, Microsoft being Microsoft, they will attempt to lock you into their world of proprietary technology and protocols. So Exchange also supports a proprietary protocol and interface. Windows sysadmin often being the typically idiots they are, will disable the open standard protocols and only enable the proprietary protocol support. (and no, I see no reason for calling such sysadmins anything else).
    If open standards are supported, it is relatively easy to interface with the mailbox on the Exchange Server. I posted a basic example of how to use the POP3 protocol from PL/SQL via the UTL_TCP package in {message:id=2018101}.
    The IMAP protocol looks a tad different, but the same basic concept of using UTL_TCP will apply.
    If neither open standard mail protocols are supported, then you have to use the proprietary interface of Exchange. And this will require your Oracle Server to be Windows-based in order to use the proprietary Windows-based Mail Application Protocol Interface (MAPI).
    If you do not run your Oracle database on a Windows server, and need to somehow interface with Exchange without using POP3 or MAPI, there is an alternative. Exchange provides an Outlook web interface. So in other words, Exchange provides a web service that can be used to read a mailbox. There is an Open Source project called Evolution (a mail reader like Outlook). This has an adapter that support interfacing with Exchange. With some effort, you should be able to write a shared object interface using this adapter and the wrap this shared object as an external procedure that is callable from PL/SQL. Of course, some knowledge of Linux and C programming will be required.

  • How to store info from outlook to oracle

    I am given a small project to create a database in oracle which will store the send and received emails for all users using the outlook express. we are using the exchange server. Any idea how can save this information in oracle database.
    I am new to IT field so please give me detailed inof

    Ben,
    The following link as some information regarding DOM API and XSQL.

    For XML DB, you may want to create an XMLSchema and build a table off the schema definition. Then use WEBDAV to load the xml into a folder (ie object table) Once the xml is in the database you could build a view for a relational look at the data.
    Example from XMLDB Techical White Paper doc.
    create or replace view PURCHASEORDER_MASTER_VIEW
    (reference, requestor, userid, costcenter,...)
    as select extractValue(Value(p),'/PurchaseOrder/Reference'),
    extractValue(value(p),'/PurchaseOrder/Requestor'),
    extractValue(value(p),'/PurchaseOrder/User'),
    extractValue(value(p),'/PurchaseOrder/CostCenter'),...
    from PURCHASEORDER p
