Output client setSynchronous()

I'm trying to understand what exactly it is that the setSynchronous() method does on the output client. Sure, it sets the mode to "synchronous" per the java docs, but then does that mean it's asysnchronous otherwise?
That doesn't make sense becasue I have used the API for over 2 months now and have not run into any issues related to not getting a result before my method returns (or so it seems). So, this notion of "synchronous" seems vague.
The problem we are running into is that when using the transformPDF() method to transform a PDF to PDF/A, sometimes, the generated file does not render correctly!
I'd appreciate some help here.

I don't think you can change the client system on the syndicatio map. What you can do, is open de syn map with the predefined client system, then export the map into an external file (for instance, c:\mySyn.syn)
Afterwards, open Syndicator again, select the client system you want, and import the map (c:\mySyn.syn). This should transport the syn mappings into the new client system

What is the Client system & Output Client system when using Generic vendor BW map in Syndicator. Can anybody throw some light on it & how to change the client system in Map Properties Tab.

WebCharts3D Flash Output: Client

Can an xml document be passed to the WebCharts3D produced flash file on the client side? We've had success with WebCharts3D on the server side but in a load balanced environment the local image reference presents challenges and I'm not willing to enable sticky sessions. If the flash output from WebCharts3D could take an XML string directly into the swf I could leverage the swf like its part of the application and have it distributed across the cluster. Server side we could build the XML string and use it in a "FlashVars" model letting the local swf produce the desired results.

After Effects doesn't have a "tween" feature - it's called
Transformation (Scale Rotation, etc...).
After Effects is raster based while Flash is vector based.
That's a huge difference in how both
treat raster based images. I have never exported 300DPI
images from AE before - especially from an
AVI - not sure about the workflow regarding this - not a
popular one but I would consult the After
Effects forum I think.

Rendering XML output (with large number of columns) to browser breaks

We have a stored procedure in our database which returns a cursor with over 400 columns. When we call the stored procedure from within the QT (using mode FixedQueryWithOutput), it renders just fine and very quickly in CSV format. however, when we attempt to render it (e.g. post it) as HTML format or XML format, it takes a very long time to render (even thought the results come back very quickly).
We are using the following specs:
OS: Microsoft Vista
Browser: IE (v7.0)
Java: Java 6, patch 20 (plug-in disabled)
Any hints/help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Aaron,
Can you limit the output to a very few rows on the 400 columns you have to render? It might be a memory or a XML parser constraint on the output client.
Other option: save the XML in a file (WEB area) then try to export & open the saved data with the browser.
This will tell you if the error is at the client level. Also, you can examine the output easily, offline.
This is practically what I'm doing to analyze XML data transferred to and from SAP using various RFCs.
IE 8.0 never crashed with XMLs having a size of 3Mb or more (approx 60columns, 10000+ rows, 14 different tables).

I have installed and deployed Adode LC ES 8.1 for weblogic. I have two questions;
1) While deploying the components 'Workbench Admin', 'Rights Admin' and 'PDF generator', exceptions are thrown saying that somes jar can not be deployed. After this exception the deployment stops.

We are using ejp service for generating PDF.But our outputClient.generatePDFOutput() is not giving us anything.When it is being called program gets hang,nor it is throwing any exeption.
I am running the program from my machine which has windows OS and LiveCycle is intalled on Linux machine and has Weblogic server on it.
We are making connection in service Client.

Setting for output to Plasma or widescreen Flash

I have a client who wants a short motion-graphic piece outputted to a plasma TV and widescreen Flash version as well.
There will be no video on this piece on moving text/pictures. What would the best settings be for these two outputs. I realize that I will have to through DVD Studio Pro and bring it down to SD for the Plasma TV output (client wants to play it from their DVD). How about for Flash?
Any help is appreciated

if i understand you correctly the client wants to play the piece from a DVD player. In this case you will be converting to the mpeg 2 format. DVD studio pro can do this for you, I believe you can import the Motion file straight in, although i havent done this myself. Your only concerns then are to tell studio pro to convert with as large a bandwidth as possible. However you do need to bare in mind the age of the dvd player being used, earlier ones cannot handle high bandwidths.
If you have Flash installed you will be able to use Compressor to output to the Flash format. Again here you have control over size aspect and bandwidth. Not sure what you can do if you don't have it installed.

is there anyone out there who has experiences in using BC4J as application server components and C++ (more precisely Borland C++ Builder) Clients? The BC4J should be depoyed as EJBs to OC4J or (less prefered) as Corba Objects to Visibroker?

Limiting the output to one page

I have requirement to print the output two copies every time it is run and it is achieved,but client has got one more requirement now in the second copy of the output client want to have only first page of the output and rest of the pages should not be printed.

Well to be specific, I am looking to print labels in excel format( to allow end user to fill in before printing).
The condition is to have 5 rows of labels on one page with two columns. I was able to get the two columns by creating a master table with two cells holding two tables and changing fonts to fit within a page.
However, I am not able to prevent Rows from splitting across pages. The table properties (allow row to break across pages) does not seem to work under excel - causing 5 and a half printing on one page.
Any ideas?
I have tried adding extra rows to the master table changing font size etc.. nothing works...

Mysterious Teardown Problem with NIO

I have an NIO proxy server which relays state information from a number of servers to a number of clients. A requirement for this system is that we can restart the proxy server (together with a couple of other components) from a web app.
I tear down the proxy server by
- interrupting out of the read loop
- cancelling all keys associated with the channel
- closing the socket on the channel
- closing the channel.
I do this for for both the input (server side) channel and the output (client side) channel.
I then discard the proxy server, create a new one and start it up.
Now here's the mysterious bit. The new server operates just fine for a minute or two. And then it stops seeing any input.
The thread responsible for input reading freezes on the call to -

- closing the channel.Only one of these is necessary. Closing the socket closes the channel and vice versa.
When you have closed all the channels, you then need to call selector.selectNow() (search this forum for why), and then close the selector.

Import two XML file in MDM

I would like to import two files XML in MDM, because I carry out By Manuel import. besides, are both XML file from two different System needs to remove de-duplication of the both file and compared them. afterwards as a file to the export manager be exported.

   To Import Second file please follow these steps:
In Import Manager after you import your first file then go to File --> Connect to Source in import manager, a new window comes then specify your second file name and perform Import normally.
   After both the files are imported you can follow these steps to remove duplicates:
Matching Mode is used to find and merge duplicates.This can be done in following steps:
      You have to use key mapping if incoming files are from different system.
Step1. In Data Manager go to Matching Mode and Select Transformation tab.Right click in Transformations pane and select Add Transformation then go to Properties pane and select the field you want to transform.Do the proper substitution in substitution pane example: Suppose that there are two values Marta. and Marta due to the "." MDM will interpret them as different values but they are duplicates so to eliminate this problem you can use substitution. So specify ".' in From and Blank space in To .Create similar transformation for other fields as well.
Step2. Go to Rules tab and Right click in Rules pane and select Add Rules then go to Properties pane and select the transformed field i.e.[XFM] .
Specify the scores for success failure and undefined properties as per your requirement.Create similar rules for other fields as well.
Step3. Go to Strategies tab. and Right click in Strategies pane and select Add strategies In the Rules Pane select the rules you want to include in the Strategy.Min Score and Max Score are calculated automatically. It is the sum of all individual matching rules in this strategy. Low Threshold and High Threshold classify the matching results and must be set manually. They decide the Match Class for a record upon executing the strategy.
Step4. Go to the Records Pane and to execute the matching, select one or more records from the record set and right-click. Select Match Records from the context menu and select the relevant matching type:
Selected vs. Selected matches the selected records with each other
Selected vs. Results matches the selected records with the record set derived from the search criteria
Selected vs. All matches the selected records with all records in the repository
Results vs. Results matches all records that result from the search criteria
Results vs. All matches all records that result from the search criteria with the records in the repository
Step5. On the basis of the Score select the record and See the corresponding matched records in the Matches tab and include the records you want to merge.
Step6. Go to Merge tab and for the selected matched records select the appropriate values and then right click in the bottom pane and select merge records. So the selected records are now existing as a new single merged record.
In order to syndicate data out of MDM follow these steps in Syndicator:
Step1. Go to Destination Items tab in bottom pane. Right click in Destination Items window and select "Add Destination Item" from the Context menu.
Step2. Go to "Properties" window and fill the required details.
Similarly you can create other destination fields as per your requirement.
Step3. Go to "Item Mapping" tab in bottom pane and Map the source field to the required destination field.
Step4. After all the mapping is done you can "Execute Syndication" and a flat file will be syndicated.
Note: You can syndicate Client specific data as well using Map Properties tab and selecting Output client system property

Error invoking a custom component in a Process.

Hi,
I've build a custom component that uses Output ES services.
If i run it as a Java app all runs well, he generates the output pdf files and output report .xml file.
If i import it as a component into Livecycle ES and use it in a process i get the following error:

Very difficult to know from your description.
It's a class-cast exception - try to find the line in your code that's doing the cast, and find out what the actual object is.
It could also be a jar versioning problem, or a class-loader problem.
