Output errors on an interface of etherchannel

Hi all,
I have 2 interfaces which are a part of an etherchannel link from Core switch 2 to back up servers These 2 interfaces are displaying output errors
This core switch 2 has an connection to a 3550 to which a linux server is attached
Backup is been performed from linux server to the backup servers everyday and we see a network performance issue as backup take way too long.
Lnx server is attached to 3550 at 100/ full connection on port fa0/17 and there is no duplex mismatch issues, port fa0/17 has underrun errors (see attachment)
Core switch 2 has port gi5/15 and gi5/16 in the etherchannel and are on 1000/full connection (see attachment)
Can anybody provide me a solution for this problem
Thanks

Hi,
Following are the observation of interface logs of 3550:-
There have been 8414 'output buffer failures' reported. If outgoing interface buffers are not available, an output buffer failure is reported. If an interface buffer is available but the Transmit Queue Limit is reached, the packet is dropped. However, if 'transmit-buffers backing-store' is enabled, the packet is placed in a System Buffer (which has to be obtained from an appropriate Free-List), and enqueued in the Output Hold queue for future transmission at the Process level, and an Output Buffer Swap is reported.
and 8414 'underruns' have been reported, which amounts to 0.00514% of the total input traffic. This is because, the far-end transmitter runs faster than
the receiver of the near-end router can handle.
Check out this:- Monitor the level of underruns over time. If they continue increasing, consider buffer and queue tuning or upgrading hardware.
Check out the below link for buffer tuning

Hi All,
Looking at an Output of a show interfaces command there seems to be a high volume of Input errors - and they almost tally up with CRC on the line below. The line is heavily saturated - would this be the cause? Or could the CRC be causing an issue? It is a frame relay link (512K)

Let's take a look at what you're worried about: 11,617 output errors divided by 21,236,022 packets output = 0.05% loss. Not really much to worry about there.
As for the 25 interface resets, that's one reset for every 849,441 output packets. Again, nothing really to worry about, but one does wonder why those numbers are not zero.
So how about taking a closer look at the following line you reported:
Input queue: 0/75/962/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 181678
Notice in particular the "Input queue drops = 962" and more importantly, the "Total output drops = 181,678". You can find detailed troubleshooting information about these problems at: http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/63/queue_drops.html to help you figure out what the actual problem is and whether or not it can be rectified by fine tuning your parameters.
FYI: Here is a standard definition of Output related errors: (taken from http://www-commeng.cso.uiuc.edu/uiucnet/reports/glossary.html )
Output Errors
- Output errors are the sum of all the output errors that occur on an interface.
Out Success With Retry Errors
- Out Success With Retry errors are output errors which indicate that a frame successfully transmitted after one or more collisions. Out Success With Retry Errors are the number of frames that experienced a a collision and retransmit before success. The total collisions divided by the number of Out Success With Retry errors will provide the average number of collisions per packet transmitted with collisions.
Out of Window Collisions Errors
- Out of Window Collisions are a type of output error. Out of window collision errors occur when a frame in the process of being transmitted collides with another frame. This error usually occurs either when some interface on the network fails to defer or the network has too many stations. (See Late Collisions.)
Output Discard Errors
- Output Discards are output errors that occur when the router has to throw a packet out instead of queuing it for transmission on the Ethernet. Output discard errors usually indicate that the network has more traffic than it can handle. They may also indicate a software discard such as no route to destination.
Output FIFO Overrun Errors
- FIFO Overruns are a type of output error. Output FIFO Overruns occur when the output queue in the adapter underflowed while putting a frame on the wire. This problem occurs when the interface is not receiving bits of the frame fast enough.

• [Solved] CUPS: Unable to write print data: Input/output error

I'm filling this for the benefit of those poor googlers that can reach here.
Symptoms: After trying to print a "complex" image the printer made too much breaks, and failed.
The problem is, it then didn't came up. I mean, I restarted the printer, cupsd, the whole system, and nothing.
I was unable to print again, it showed "Unable to write print data: Input/output error" and refused to print anything.
I then saw that in /etc/cups I had printers.conf and printers.conf.O files, which differed (other than in StateTime), that printers.conf.O had
State Idle
but printers.conf had:
State Stopped
StateMessage Unable to write print data: Input/output error
Reason paused
Probably due to the ErrorPolicy being stop-printer.
So seeing I followed the following steps:
Stop cups
Replace printers.conf with printers.conf.O (I could also had manually edited it)
Start cups
It then went working flawlessly.
There was probably an option in the web interface combobox for doing that. The problem is that I didn't realise it was stopped, so didn't know how to make it work. Moreover, some posts in the web recommended reinstalling the printer (which would skip the problem by creating a new printer).

I think that I had this same problem, and fixed it by reinstalling the printer. Thank you for your post.

Regards,
Priyaranjan

Hi,
Reason 1:
An revenue-recognition-relevant item has several active conditions whose values cancel themselves so that a net item value of 0 results. The conditions have both the same revenue account (SAKN1) and the same clearing account (SAKN2).
For these conditions, the system writes a line with value 0 into the temporary FI/CO interface (internal tables: CACCIT, CACCCR). If table VBREVK does not contain control lines for this line, no further processing occurs and the line remains in the temporary FI/CO interface. Then the system reads this line for the creation of the next billing item which conatins a net value and generates a posting line with value 0. As a result, there is a balance in the FI/CO interface, and the billing document cannot be transferred.
Reason 2:
The billing document contains at least one item with an item category for which there is a setting stipulating that the values of this item should not be transferred to the header total of the document.
That is, in the maintenance of the item categories, this item category has the characteristic 'X' or 'Y' in 'Statistical value' field.
Reason 3:
Case: Billing document contains items without pricing conditions.
Then, on release to accounting, error RW022 occurs.
regards,
Saju.S

• Output Error Counts

Hello, I'm seeing the same number of output errors across multiple ports on one of our Nexus pairs. Each port has the same vlan in common and I'm wondering if there is any way to narrow down exactly where these errors are starting. From what I've read it's most likely a bad packet since many if not all of the 'show interface counters errors' are zeroed out. Would a sniffer be needed? If so what exactly would I be searching for? Many thanks!

Hi gbzheng,
I think I need a little clarification for your request to better answer your question. Are you trying to count both rising and falling edges in a specific time period, or are you just trying to count the falling edges (errors) in a specific time period?
DAQmx Shipping Examples
If you need deterministic timing using an external clock, I would recommend using the Counter – Count Edges (Continuous Clock) example.
If you do not need the deterministic timing, you could just use the software timed Counter – Count Edges example.
For either example you will need to create a constant (or control) for the edge input on the DAQmx Create Virtual Channel.vi. You will need to specify Falling as the edge type because rising is the default value.

• Compile Error: 'class' or 'interface' expected

Hi all,
I have a code which was compiling/running successfully:

When I added the line: import java.io.*;

Got the following compile error:

• VM Causes Output Errors

I'm looking for some out of the box thinking here.
Here's the setup:
vSphere 5.1 Cluster
4 x B200M2 in Chassis A
4 x B200M2 in Chassis B
Chassis A has 2104XP IOM and does not use port-channeled connectivity.
Chassis B has 2208XP IOM and DOES use port-channels.
Windows 2008R2 virtual machine, hardware version 8, VMXNET3 network interface.
Here's the problem:
If the VM is running on an ESXi host in Chassis A, the physical interface that server is pinned to will start clocking output errors slowly. If you move it to another host in the same chassis, the physical link for that host will start clocking errors. If you move it to a host in the other chassis, the port-channel starts clocking output errors.

Summary is accurate, I grabbed some stats off one of the hosts.
For reference:
vmnic0 and 1 are for Management only
vmnic2 and 3 are for VDS
vmnic5 and 6 are vMotion

• Error in Financial Interface

Hi Friends,
In invoice posting we are getting posting status as " Error in Financial Interface" What is to be checked?
The background program runs once a day and sometimes we get this error for the document, But if the same Debit / Credit memo is released through VF02 then we have no error.
Any help in this issue would be great.
Venkat.

Hi JC,
Following reasons for error `Error in Accounting interface` when releasing SD Billing document to Accounting
1. Output tax code is not defined / assigned to the GL Account
2. Product Cost estimate calculated with wrong consting variant
3. Assignment of Costing element to value field T code KE4R
4. SD condition is not assigned to COPA
Please check and let us know the outcome.
Regards,
Santosh

Hi,
Thanks for the input. If the radio is sending out the packet but client did not receive, not output drop should be seen since packet is sent out, right?
From my understanding, output drop is related to congested interface. Outgoing interface cannot take the rate packets coming in and thus droping it. What I don't understand is input and output rate has not reached limit yet. Also input queue is seeing drop of packet as well even though input queue is empty.
Any idea?

• Linux and PCI-485/8. Write failed:Input/Output error

i am running red hat linux and installed my pci-485/8 serial card. actually, the machine is dual boot with windows nt 4.0 and the card works fine under nt. i followed all the instructions in the ni document "notes to users" entitled "using pci serial with linux". when i finally run serialtest i just get the error message above: Write failed:Input/output error.
not much to go on. any advice???

There are few things that we can try to trouble shoot this problem.
Try uninstalling driver for Win NT completely and reinstalling driver for Linux and see whether that solves the problem.
If that doesn't solve the problem then try using a different Linux machine ( if you have access to ) for the same card. The card works under Win NT that means card is fine and there is no hardware issue associated with this problem.
Try recompiling your serialtest.c :
Enter the following to recompile serialtest.c and rerun serialtest.
(Also, the source code for serialtest is available for editing and viewing
at serialtest.c, provided in the PCI-SERIAL directory.)
linux PCI-SERIAL# gcc serialtest.c -o serialtest
linux PCI-SERIAL# ./serialtest < receive port numbe
r>
< transmit port number>
If serialtest hangs:
Make sure the interface is seated correctly and tighten the screw that holds
the interface in place. Also, make sure the cables are attached to the correct
ports. In some cases, serialtest hangs if the transceiver modes
(PCI-485) are not set. Try setting both transmit and receive ports to
transceiver mode 0 (Four-Wire Mode).
linux# ./rs485 < transmit port number> 0
linux# ./rs485 < receive port number> 0
linux# ./serialtest < receive port number> < transmit port number>

• External Hard Drive Input/Output error

I recently started having problems with an external hard drive setup that I did not have problems with prior to upgrading to 10.5.5 and trying to setup the drive to be compatible with Time Machine.
The hard drive enclosure that I have has 2 bays for two SATA drives. I have used this enclosure without any problems until I tried to get 1 drive to act as the backup drive for Time Machine and the other to be storage. I formatted them using Drive Genius. I used the option for GUILD or GUIL which it said was the better format for using with Time Machine.
The first problem I ran into since upgrading and reformatting the drives is I got an "input/output" error the first couple times I connected the drive via USB to my Mac. I could still use the drives but I got weird errors every once in a while like "input/output error" or "device was not ejected properly" even though the device had not been unplugged.
Now the drives will not mount using OS 10.5.5. The drives show up when I open Disk Utility, but I cannot get them to mount. I have ran Disk Utility First Aid, and it says the drives are fine. There is one error that shows up when I run the "Repair Disk" feature. It reads "Invalid content in Journal". But Disk Utility also says "The volume was repaired successfully".
I have seen some posts when I do a search in google about this issue and it seems this is a known issue. Every suggestion I see says to insert your Tiger DVD and reformat the drive using that and the problem will be solved. The only problem with that is I have a lot of important files on the drive that I cannot lose. I had the files backed up until I moved them to the new drive a while back. Now I do not have a backup because I was in the process of switching to bigger drives and erased the old drives after doing so because everything was working fine.
I am hoping someone out there may have some suggestions (other than erasing the drive) to get my dives to mount so I can transfer the data off to another drive and reformat after.
Thanks,
Paul Rugg

Thanks for the suggestion.
Do you think that would work better than Drive Genius? I bought Drive Genius 2 and it does not even see the drives when they are plugged in unlike Disc Utility which can see the drives but cannot mount either one.
Maybe this following post I made to a different questions may help. The data on the drive is other buying another program for if it will work. I think my next step may be to go over to a friends place and try to mount the drives on his computer and transfer stuff off if they connect.
text below posted to other question relating to external hard drive problem.
I have recently had the same mounting issue with my new external hard drive. I just purchased a new 750Gb Western Digital Sata drive and got everything transfered over to it. Immediately, I got an error saying that the drive had been ejected incorrectly even though it was still plugged in. I was a little curious. I restarted the computer (hard drive still plugged in via USB 2.0) and the drive showed up just fine. I plugged another 250Gb drive into the same case (2 bays) and the 250GB drive showed up just fine.
Well, I then noticed there was an OS upgrade available when I ran Software update so i ran it and when I rebooted the drives were gone. I can see the drives in Disc Utility, but they will not mount. Drive Genius cannot see either disc. Disc Utility says I need to repair the drives, but when I do it says they are fixed but they don not mount.
The problem really seems to be related to mounting USB external drives. I got ahold of 2 seperate external firewire hard drives and one shows up just fine while the other has the same problem (both work on other systems. I would try wiping the drives and reformatting but ALL MY stuff is on them and not everything has been backed up. Yuck! I have not tried connecting my hard drive to another Mac yet.
The drives being used are #1 Maxtor Maxline Plus II 250GB SATA/150 HDD 1.5b/s 7Y250m00654ra
and #2 Western Digital WD7500AACS WD Caviar GP Green Power drive.
I have another post similar to this and I have not received any feedback, but I have been doing my own searching and have found similar posts on the net.
Anybody have any clue what might be going on here? It really seems to be related to my upgrade.

• I am in mavericks disk utility recovery mode as my mac book will not boot up & stays only on the grey apple screen. When I verify the disk I get open error5 :input /output error on Syst stuck on 1 minute pouring out over 50 error messages & still counting

I am in Mavericks disk utility recovery mode as my mac book pro will not boot up & stays on the Apple grey screen . When I verify disk permissions I get
Open error 5:"input/ output error" on syst with over 50 of this messages & still counting . Disk Utility says 1 minute
But this has been going on for over 10 mins .
I can not verify disk or repair disk .
I have tried to reinstall mavericks operating system but it says my hard drive is locked which is very strange .
Does anyone know what is going on here ?
My system looks like it has been totally corrupted . Thanks Andrew

Could be. The "lock" isn't actually looking for a password.
WARNING: This will completely erase the ENTIRE hard drive.
What you would need to do is boot to recovery > disk utility > select the MAIN drive on the left side > partition > change partition layout from CURRENT to 1 PARTITION > ensure on the right side it says Format : Mac OSX Extended (Journaled) then push APPLY.
Then if it will allow us, close the windows until you see the 4 options popup again and select "Reinstall Mac OS X" select the Mac HD and you should be good to go!

• Accounting Document not posted for Cancelled Invoice -error in FI interface

Hi,
When I create a billing document then an accounting document gets created automatically in the background and then when I cancel the billing document no accounting document gets generated and the field Posting Status in header Detail of Billing document updated as "Errors in Financials Interface.
I tried to release it for Posting via VFX3 but failed due to below error message in Log:
"Incorrect doc.no.: 4900000005. Select document number between 3000000000 and 3099999999"
I have checked the Number range assignments to the Invoice type and Accounting type.
The number range is same for both Invoice type (Y0F2) and Cancelled Invoice type (Y0S1).
The Accounting document type (RV) is also same for both the cases. But it is working fine for Y0F2 (Acounting document generated and cleared automatically). But not working fine for Cancelled Invoice (Y0S1).
Can anybody please help me find out a solution to the issue.
Thanks, Ram.

Hi,
The error message F5151 refers to the number range of the FI document.
Please have a look at the note 1259505: FAQ: New cancellation procedure in SD, which covers this issue in detail.
Question 5:
Q5. What is the FI document type, generated by the cancellation ?
In the old cancellation procedure, the FI document type is always
determined in SD, and passed to FI (the same when a normal invoice -
not a cancellation - is transferred to accounting).
In transaction VOFA there is the field 'Document type' (TVFK-BLART).
If this field is filled, then the FI document will have the document
type maintained here.
If TVFK-BLART is empty, then the FI document will get the default
document type 'RV'.
If the new cancellation procedure is performed, the FI document type is
always determined in FI, based on the document type of the FI document
to be reversed.
In transaction OBA7 the FI document type has assigned the field 'Reverse
document type' (T003-STBLA).
If it is filled, then the FI cancellation document will get the document
type maintained here.
If T003-STBLA is empty, then the FI document cancellation will get the
same document type as the cancelled FI document.
Notice that an unexpected FI document type can cause the error message
F5 151.
Example:
F2 invoice 90000001 was released, creating an accounting document with
document type 'RV'.
This F2 invoice is reversed by the S1 billing document 70000001.
In customizing of SD there is:
Billing Type Document Type
F2 RV
S1
In customizing of FI there is:
Document Type Number range Reverse Document Type
RV 00 AB
AB 01 AB
The FI number ranges (object RF_BELEG) are:
No From number To number Ext
00 0090000000 0099999999 X
01 0100000000 0199999999
Different situations can occur, due to these customizing settings of the
FI document type, caused by the type of cancellation.
If the new cancellation is used:
The FI document type 'RV' has 'Reverse Document Type' = 'AB'.
Document type 'AB' has number range '01' set as internal.
So the FI document will have its own number included in
100000000-199999999.
There is no issue.
If the old cancellation is used:
The cancellation billing type S1 has no 'Document type' maintained, so
the FI document will get document type 'RV'. It has number range '00',
set as external number range.
So the FI document should get the same number of S1 billing document.
But the S1 billing document has number 70000001, not included in the
interval of number range '01'.
This will cause error F5 151.
I hope this information helps you.
