Overlapping Views on Download to Excel
Hi Guys,
I have a Pivot View and Chart view arranged horizontally in compound layout.
When i download in excel the chart view somehow gets overlapped with the pivot view, even though for other downloads powerpoint, MHTML it works fine.
Can you suggest how to get around this problem.
Cheers
Dhrubo
Hi..
don't know exactly why..
but try to format both views has same size..
so go for format View option of every view. ie.e. Pivot View and Chart view
And go to Additional format option, mention here sizes of width and height..
May solve your problem, but check and report back...
Thanks & Regards

Symptoms
When downloading reports that have multiple charts into Excel, the charts appear overlapping. The downloaded report(excel file) looks different from what it displayed in a dashboard.

Bug 7501223: DOWNLOADING TO EXCEL OVERLAPS THE CHART WITH THE PIVOT TABLE
Solution
The following bugs already raised to address this issue:
Bug 8825314: TABLE VIEW OVERLAPPED WITH CHART VIEW IN THE EXCEL SHEET

Bug 7700214: DOWNLOADING TO EXCEL OVERLAPS THE CHART WITH THE TABLE VIEW
Bug 7501223: DOWNLOADING TO EXCEL OVERLAPS THE CHART WITH THE PIVOT TABLE
Workaround at this stage would be to use download to html/powerpoint.
Hope this helps!

Download to Excel is hiding rows in a pivot view
Hello ,
When downloading a report to excel from OBIEE Dashboard , certain rows are getting hidden . For instance , I have total 15 rows in my pivot view and when I download that report into excel format , the rows from 8-13 are not showing up . After 7th row I see 14th row .
But when I download the same report from Answers I can see all rows in the pivot view .
I tried looking at the formatting options of the pivot view and everything is normal . This is happening only with this particular report , other reports in dashboard download normally .
Please let me know if anybody has ideas .
Thank you
Karthikkarthik,
From where ur downloading to excel ...use the download option available at "preview " button ,if you are using the same go with report links download button option
Last option create a new report (without any filters in case if u have)

RajanHi All,
I am also facing the same problem. When I download to Powerpoint, its getting downloaded properly and whn I download to excel, I am not able to download properly. I have 2 charts of the same report being displayd sde-by-side and under them I have a pivot table displayed in compound view. When downloaded to excel, the first chart is overlapping on top of the report in the excel.
Can anyone suggest if we have any options?

MB51, download to excel works different for online and background.
Hi,
Have a question regarding excel download of MB51 in online mode against background.
If I run MB51 online, I can download it to an excel sheet that is easy to read and work with. Each column in the report in seperate column in excel.
If I run it in the background, try to download the spool to excel, I don't get the columns the same way as online report.
Ive tried changing the layout, downloading to excel, downloading to text and then dropping to excel, etc.
Why wont the download from a batch job work the same as online?
Any ideas or anyway to fix?Hi All,

QUERY SQ01 - Download to Excel
Hi Experts,
I am following the steps to download data to excel from SAP Query. My SAP version is 4.7 and Excel on my PC is MS OFFICE EXCEL 2007.
Steps after getting report output on screen-
1. List -> Spreadsheet
2. Choose Table for Radio button
3. Choose Microsoft Excel
This gives me all data correctly except the date formatting and columns starting with zero.
->Date format column is automatically taken as General and the dates shown are garbage values.
->the column in which data starts with zero comes without leading zeros and data integrity is lost.
Please give any suggestions that you may have to resolve this problem. In recent SAP releases, there is an additional button with "Excel" logo that allows to keep the right format. Do you have it in your 6.20 release? Otherwise I don't see any solution, except maybe by using inplace excel and adapting it: add a button to export correctly (see how to customize here: Note 548409 - ALV view: Consulting note about Excel Inplace/Templates).

When clicking on a link (in Internet Explorer 9) to download an Access MDB file and then choosing to open the file directly in Microsoft Access (2007) instead of saving it, the file is copied to Temporary Internet Files but Microsoft Access tries to open
a different file and displays an (Unrecognized database format) error.
When I click on the option to open the file, the MDB file is copied to Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 but instead of that file, Access tries to open a different (incorrect) file located in Temporary Internet Files\Content.MSO (e.g. in the above error
message, NativeView.do is an XML file containing an error message).
I don't see this problem with Word, Excel or PowerPoint files. When opening a Word file (without saving) the Word file is copied to Content.IE5 but an identical .tmp file is created in Content.MSO which when opened in Microsoft Word displayed the required file
correctly. The same happens for Excel files. PowerPoint appears to be handled a little differently (no .tmp file created in Content.MSO but the required file is still copied to Content.IE5) but the PPT file is still opened correctly in Microsoft PowerPoint.
I think the Content-Type "application/msaccess" is fine because Internet Explorer does launch Microsoft Access. It just tries to open the wrong file (or so I think). However, it looks like the file type is not being determined. Here is what I noticed
when trying to open different Microsoft Office files using Internet Explorer:
The last one is the MDB file. As you can see, only for this type of file, the "Type" (Microsoft Office Access 2007?) is not displayed in this Open/Save dialog box.
On Firefox, I don't see this problem. When I tried clicking on the link to the MDB file in Firefox, Microsoft Access was launched and the file was opened correctly. Is there something I can do so the MDB file is opened properly using IE? I can add/change headers
in the HTTP response that writes this file to the output stream (on disk) if that helps.
Thanks for your time!Sounds like a problem symptom to be discussed in either an IE forum or an Access forum, not here. How did you come to post here? ForumsRedesign. That might be an on-topic issue for this forum. <eg>
Can you find your way to either of those other forums easily from here? Another on-topic question for here I think. ; )

Internal table to be downloaded into excel is empty
Hi everybody,
I created a page where I'm displaying in a table all the records. OnInitialization, I set my RFC needed to get the data from the Prod.Server and so far is displaying fine the data when I test it.
Now, I want to download that table into excel so I created a buttom in the Layout and in the same page OnInputProcessing I'm checking the event (IF event_id = CL_HTMLB_MANAGER=>EVENT_ID) to check if the new button was trigered. Next, I copied the solution given by Thomas in the weblogs "BSP Download to Excel in Unicode Format" but when I check my table already displayed and needed by the function 'SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING', now is empty.
I set the Automatic Page Attribute for my table ON but still is empty.
Do I have to set something else to retain or get my table OnInputProcessing?
Thanks in advance for your quick answer.
JuanThanks everybody for your quick answers.
You are all rights, when I set my page Stateful it solve my problem and I'm getting my table with Data.
Now, I'm having a second problem.
As I told you before, I only have one page where in OnInitialization I'm displaying a table, that's fine. I include a button to download the table into excel and I copied the Thomas code into the same page OnInputProcessing Event. I test it in debug mode and it's going fine thrue all the statements: executing the Funtion 'SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING' and executing the following statements response->set_header_field and so on..
The problem is when getting the last statement:
response->set_data( data = l_xstring
length = l_len ).
navigation->response_complete( ).
My current page becomes blank with no dialog to download the file.
Here is my code from OnInputProcessing event, sorry for the long message.

Download to Excel using pkg by Denes
I've had success using the package that Denes created for non-Interactive Reports, but now I have issue downloading to Excel when I create a SQL Report, with the option to Enable Search = Yes. When I download the report, it only appears to show columns that aren't searchable, or at least those columns that don't have a value for the column attribute for "Highlight Words." The report was created through a wizard, so APEX automatically created the items and processes to enable searching for values within the report. When I remove the item specified for Highlight Words (e.g. &P60_REPORT_SEARCH), the column then shows up in the downloaded file. I did not find any logic in the Export_Excel_Pkg where it might exclude such columns. Any ideas?
The issue appears to be resolved. In the EXCEL_REPORT_PKG.PRINT_REPORT_HEADER proc there is a cursor with a condition specifiying: include_in_export = 'Yes'. Strangely, even though in APEX I can see that the column attribute Include in Export = Yes, the values for these report columns in the APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_RPT_COLS view for the INCLUDE_IN_EXPORT column was NULL. I had to again click on "Apply Changes" and it set the column value in the table to 'Yes' where before it was NULL.

Download to excel titles off line
Hi
I pressed the download to excel option from a dashboard in obiee version 10 1 3 and the result shows the report in column a2 to g11, for example, but the title that should be in a1 is in h1 instead. So it looks like its after the report instead of on top of the report.
Does anyone know how to resolve this please? I would like to see the header on top of the report in cell a1.
Regards,
Hilary

Customize download to excel with disclaimer
I need to customize download link in dashboard so that results are downloaded to an Excel sheet but with client' s disclaimer message at the end. Client do not want the disclaimer to be shown on the dashboard. So basically we need to alter the download to Excel link at the system level, so that whenever it is clicked, the report gets downloaded to an excel with the disclaimer message at the end.
I did some work and found that when we click on Download To Excel option, a function gets called from file \OracleBI\web\msgdb \viewscontrolmessages.xml, there we have:
Download('@{command}&Format=mht&am p;amp;Extension=.xls')
I think someway we need to alter this download function so that it appends a disclaimer message to Excel after every download.
Or let me know if you think any other way!
We are using OBIEE 10g .
RahulThis seems now "re-inventing the wheel" sort of requirement. I was looking into possibility of using GO URL to get the report in csv and then writing a java script to append the disclaimer text in the downloaded file . But am stuck on the front, how to store the file without any manual effort. Because when we use Go URL a save as pop-up throws, rather I want when user clicks on our customized Download link, it should download the data and store in a file and then append it with a disclaimer text and then throw a save as pop-up.
Also has anyone any idea how to use the any OBIEE java functions in a java script written in text view ( with html enabled ) ?
Let me know if anyone has any thoughts on how to do that! -

Is there any FM which does the purpose or any input on this.
I appreciate your valuable inputs...
Thanks
SanthoshSanthosh,
<li>Without function module you can download the expanded tree structure
<li>Goto SE43n->Enter Area menu name->Display->Place the cursor on the top node->Click Edit menu->Expand all(Shift+f6).
<li>Now Menu tree is expanded
<li>Click on Area Menu menu->Print->Area menu is now shown in different view->click on Print List menu->Save to PC file->Spreadsheet

HT202879 View or download xlsx file
Looking for a recommendation as to the best method to either view or download xlsx file/s.
Hi John,
I don't know that there is a 'viewer' for Excel files.
Numbers ('09 and the new version 3) will open Excel files (as Numbers files). the degree of fidelity in the translation depends what features used in the Excel version are supported in Numbers.
At least three open source applications, LibreOffice, Apache OpenOffice, and NeoOffice will also open Excel files. Again, the fidlity of the translation depends on the feature match between xOffice and those used in the indivdual MS Excel file.
If you will be editing and returning the files for editing at the other end several times, your best choice is probably Excel itself, available as part of MS Office (Mac).

Even though what ever may be the file name I am passing either info.xml or Info.xls , In error info.xls is coming.
Kindly provide me an alternative on this XML doesn't seem like it would match the 'application/vnd.ms-excel'.
what is the supported format.?
Similarly, It is not considering the UTF-8 / UTF-16 for xml.........same result is appearing in the output.
