Overload router with debug command
Hi all
I use a C892 router with the IOS c890-universalk9-mz.152-1.T.bin. I just ran the command "debug ip packet 151 detail" and then the router stopped to work because it was overloaded. The ACL151 I used is as follow:

In the syslog then I got hundred of messages from IPSec:

Has someone an explanation for this why the access list 151 is not doing the job? For me it seems just like that this ACL is not applied and that I have a debug then for the whole traffic.

it seems that nobody has the same issue with these series of routers. We reproduced the same topic on another router, most likely it would be a bug.
If there is no reply from your side I will open a TAC case for this issue.

Import EIGRP default route only with network command
Hi,
Does anyone know why I can only import the default route learned by EIGRP (from a CE router) in the VPNV4 table with the command ?network 0.0.0.0? under the address family? Is this the correct behavior?

Yes this is normal, a default route unlike any other routes is not redistributed between routing protocols by default, in the case of BGP you have 2 options, either use a network command and make sure that the route is in the routing table (via EIGRP in your case), or use redistribute + default-information originate, you can test this by removing the network command and adding the default-information originate under the address family.

RA VPN into ASA5505 behind C871 Router with one public IP address
Hello,
I have a network like below for testing remote access VPN to ASA5505 behind C871 router with one public IP address.
PC1 (with VPN client)----Internet-----Modem----C871------ASA5505------PC2
The public IP address is assigned to the outside interface of the C871. The C871 forwards incoming traffic UDP 500, 4500, and esp to the outside interface of the ASA that has a private IP address. The PC1 can establish a secure tunnel to the ASA. However, it is not able to ping or access PC2. PC2 is also not able to ping PC1. The PC1 encrypts packets to PC2 but the ASA does not to PC1. Maybe a NAT problem? I understand removing C871 and just use ASA makes VPN much simpler and easier, but I like to understand why it is not working with the current setup and learn how to troubleshoot and fix it. H323 static Nat doesn't work fine on 3900 series router with IOS 15.2(3) T
Hi,
I have a problem with static nat setting on my 3925 router with IOS15.2(3). The scenario is like this:
I set a static nat between 172.16.1.2 and x.x.x.x(public IP address) using following command:
ip nat inside source static 172.16.1.2 x.x.x.x
The intranet IP address is set on a video conference system from Huawei, after setting all these things, ping works fine to this public IP address, but video conference cannot be built. I tried same setting using another 2811 router with IOS12.4 and it worked fine. Which means the problem should be isolated to this 3925 router. Full config is also attached, sorry that I elimated the public IP address and use other characters instead.
Additionally, I debugged ip natting and I see following information when making video calls:

i have the same requirement for a customer, not for video but for audio calls, i have a remote office with h.323 phones and they need to get registered to a gk in central office to send and recieve voice calls, did you make it work? can you share the config please? -
RTP Traffic not seen with debug IP packet
Hi,
We placed a Debug Ip Packet detail in ACL (any to host destination) but RTP traffic wasn´t see.
Rtp session is stablished and debug rtp packets is a hard debug. Debug ip rtp ip and port is not enough information about packet.
Sniffer is not possible at customer site.
Do you have any idea for check with debug IP Packet?

# voice hpi capture destination flash:pcm.dat (to specify the destination file.)
Once you have the above configured you are ready to capture the PCM stream from the router. Start a test call and leave it connected.
1. Enter "show voice call status" and determine what voice port a trouble call is using.
2. Enter "test voice port 1/0/4 pcm-dump caplog 7" where 1/0/4 is the number of the port that has the problem call up.
- You can check the status of the capture using the following command: sh voice hpi capture
- Make sure you have capture the whole duration of the problem call. Then stop the capture, enter "test voice port 1/0/4 pcm-dump disable"
- When you are done capturing, just enter configure terminal again and do the following:
no voice hpi capture destination flash:pcm.dat
no voice hpi capture buffer 300000
Following that, email the capture file pcm.dat to TAC for further analysis. -
Setup 1941 router with cable modem and 2 vlan?
hello everyone,
i need a little help setting up my new 1941 router with cable modem using 2 vlns.
this is what i have:
1- 1941 router configured as g0/0 wan port facing isp configured as (dhcp). g0/1 is lan facing the switch (192.168.1.1)
dhcp pool (192.168.1.x)
2- sg300-28pp switch.
3- wap371 AP/ 11pcs..
now everything is working perfect except sometimes we have more than 250 to 300 people trying to connect to the wifi, the router will have no enough ip addresses.
i heard that i can setup 2 vlans to solve this problem? and is there any setup that i have to do on switch and Access points?
please i will appreciate any little help
Regardshello Andre Neethling i added network 192.168.0.0 255.255.254.0 to dhcp pool config and it seems that it is working but i am concern that i am going to have problem in the future so please take a look at the running config and let me know if i have everything done right. also we want to order static ip address from the provider for our security camera system and we will not longer receive dhcp ip from them and my router setup is to receive it as dhcp on g0/0 so what i should do about changing the settings on g0/0?

Debugging inbound call - need debug command
I am debugging what I believe to be a dial plan issue on PGW but want to run a debug command on the ITP to show the actual called number of the inbound call.
What is the best debug command to use to see the inbound called and calling numbers of a call.You are better off capturing an mdl trace from the PGW using per call tracing or using snoop and opening the call in Wireshark.
The ITP will only dump hex values and you will need to decode them yourself since it is not concerned with ISUP layer. You can use the cs7 paklog feature to attach an access list to a linkset and then send the raw data to a syslog server for decoding.
For example:

Router with payload compression and QOS
I have searched for 2 days trying to find information on this subject. I have a 2851 router with an AIM-COMPR2-V2 module. The software level is 15.1(4)M7. We have point-to-point T1 between two of the exact same routers. I would like to run payload compression, use the AIM module, and enforce a QOS policy on the interface. The "Show Compress" command counters will not increase as long as the interface has the "Service-Policy Output" command on it. I found several articles that discuss that as an issue before 12.X versions of software, but I can't find anything newer.
Should this work? If not, where can I find the most recent documentation as to why it won't? Gateway crashed after debug command - how to recover
Hi - I was troubleshooting an issue out of hours and the voice gateway I was working on crashed after using a debug command
Whats the best way to recover the gateway?
I'm unable to ping it now - do I need someone to reboot it?
Once it comes back up with debugging still be active ?Chris if the debug you entered is too processor intensive then the only way to recover is to reboot. After Reboot the debugs are turned off.
Sometimes it becomes too slow but you are still able to access it intermittently if thats the case then you can wait for it become accessible for a small period of time and try to quikly enter u all (undebug all) otherwise if its completely inaccesible your only way to recover is to reboot.

Debug commands to troubleshoot client through the WiSM
We been having issues with several laptops that appear to be losing wireless connectivity and i wanted to know if there is a debug command or commands that would allow me to see the process of the client trying to Associate/Authenticate, etc..

VicThis may be a separate question, I am quite familiar with the "debug client" command, however everytime I log out, or am logged out of the console, and then log back in, my "show debug", shows that I am not debugging anything. The client mac is listed, but no Debug Flags are enabled. Is there no way to leave those debug commands on, so the output is put out to a syslog server? Thanks

So the result is that the Host obtains again the prefix through Autoconfiguration from RA router message.
I haved looked for new cli commands on the router to prevent this but I haven't found any other. The more I had got is to configure the commands (specially the first one):
ipv6 nd prefix default no-advertise
ipv6 nd managed-config-flag
so now, the router doesn't send the Prefix on RA messages, but it continues answering to RS Host Messages with its RA message. And I don't want that, because although It doesn't send the prefix with "nd prefix default no-advertise" command, it sends the MTU and the Default Gateway to the router
and I don't want that because later I want to deploy a Windows Server in the same LAN to do that function (Dhcp server, DNS server...)

So I would like to know If I making some mistake or some missconfiguration with this?
Maybe I haven't the correct knowless about how Slacc Autoconfiguration should work (Isn't right that with suppress comand configured the router shouldn't send any RA message ?), or maybe it's a problem with this IOS version. I'm gettin crazy with this.
This router has 24 Mb Flash, so If it's a problem with IOS version, I don't know which one to put on it because I think 15.X versions exceed 24Mb

Unfortunately, this Router has 128/24 Dram, but IOS 15.1(3)T3 requires 193/32.

Symptoms: Router will respond to an RS with an RA.
Conditions: The symptom is observed when you configure the ipv6 nd ra suppress command. This command is only intended to suppress periodic mcast RAs. The router will still respond to unicast RS (that is intended behavior).
Workaround: Use an ACL to block the reception of RS packets.
I have read in another web that other possible solution is to use configuren the nd ra lifetime messages as 0.
I have combined several commands in this way:

ipv6 nd ra suppress -> The router won't send periodical RA messages
ipv6 nd prefix default no-advertise -> The router won't publish the prefix in message RA that it send answering host RS
ipv6 nd ra lifetime 0 -> Does this prevent that the rest of the configuration send by RA could stay in hosts
ipv6 nd managed-config-flag
What do you thing about this configuration? I know it's a bit dirtier than using an ACL to block the reception of RS packet, but could it done the same function?

Cannot compile code with debug symbols
I have a source code file that will not compile with debug symbols. I get an assertion failed in file ../src/regman/regman_local.cc at line 5224. The compile command and output are below.
/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc -g -xarch=v9b -xopenmp=noopt -xc99=all -c -o output/spirecon.o spirecon.c

cg: 1 errors
cc: cg failed for spirecon.c
However without the debug options and using the default -fast switch, i.e.
/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc -fast -xarch=v9b -xopenmp=noopt -xc99=all -c -o output/spirecon.o spirecon.c
it compiles without any problems.
I was hoping someone might have a suggestion as to how what might cause this type of error.I have been told this is bugid: 4420630
It only happens when you try to use the optimizing
backend code generator without any optimization.
(That's what -xopenmp=noopt does)
If you add an -xO1 flag the assertion should go away, but you
will also lose some (but not all) of your debuggability.

How does auch developers compile their project? Seems that archlinux user always trying to avoid build software from git/svn directly. But after searching a lot I sill haven't found how to compile with debug symbol while using PKGBUILD.
Anyone help?
