Overloading Issue

If overloaded functions like below are defined
     void move(double dx) { System.out.println("double"); }
     void move(Object dx) { System.out.println("Object"); }
     void move(String dx) { System.out.println("String"); }Invoking them as
          move(new String(""));
          move(new Object());
          move(null);
Results in
String
Object
String
How does the compiler decide to call the String version of move when null is passed ?

How does the compiler decide to call the String version of move when null is passed ?It matches the most specialized, and String is a subclass of Object. However, if you were to add another method with a signature such as Integer, the compile would refuse to compile. String and Integer do not share the same inheritance hierarchy.

  • What setting should I use for Abbey Road drums?  Getting a cpu overload issue

What setting should I use for Abbey Road drums (i.e. multi-output, stereo, etc)?  Getting a cpu overload issue.  I have a macbook pro, 4 gb ram, running Logic Pro 9.  Just 3 tracks of drums and a few real instrument tracks.  Can't find a guide in the manual for either Kontakt or Logic.  Thanks in advance!

    Hi
AR drums are complete resource (CPU) hogs. They work better if you turn off as many of the AR internal plugins as you can.
See section 4 (?) of the AR manual, which you can find within Kontakt (In the library area of Kontakt click hold the small "i" on the right of the "AR drummer" Library).
Alternatively, your only solution is to increase the I/O buffer in Preferences:Audio, with the associated increase in latency

  • Logic Express Overload Issues on 2007 MBP

So, i've been having a lot of trouble with overload issues on my 2007 MacBook Pro.  It's really got me confused because the problem seemed to just start occurring recently on fairly simple projects.  My macbook has 2.2 core duo processors, 4gb rams, ~60 gigs of free HD space, and I'm running projects from an external drive.  I am aware of the tricks for optimizing projects (balancing processor thread loads and whatnot) so please don't point me to that section of Logic's manual.  I just have no idea what the problem is, especially since I used to run fairly large projects in the past with very little free HD space and somehow got away with it.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The error you mention can be fixed by Disk Warrior.

  • Help with Mainstage 3.1 CPU overload issue

I was using Kontakt 5, UVI Workstation and Pianoteq 5 in MainStage 3 without any issues.
Since I updated to MS 3.1, The CPU is always above 100% !!! I am facing audio dropouts and it is absolutely impossible to play a show
Is anyone else facing the same issue? Any tips to help reduce CPU overload will be helpful.
I have Contact and UVI workstation running from an external hard disk. I thought that might be the issue but i tried with a keyboard template set in MS 3.1 and still while playing CPU usage shoots to 100% plus!
    I am on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.

Try to get the Mainstage 3.0.4 from a timemachine backup.
Try to update all your programs like pianotec.
For me, 3.1 feels better concerning timing/ latency. This might cause more stress for the processors.
My system i7 2,2 GHz is always getting hot, fans go crazy. There's a limit: Better than 64 Samples buffer is not possible.
To be serious: A real Piano needs  0,25ms to produce a sound. We have to deal with 4ms. That's bad. So you could increase buffersize to 128 and try playing? It makes no big difference if you play the poor 4ms ore poor 6ms for example. In every case we are far away from the real thing.
Check, if you activated the "savety buffer" checkbox in audiodriver window.
If you can't find 3.0.4., you could try to reduce the installed channelstrips in your patches. Effects in concert level should be reduced. Evt. you have Efx in busses that are not needed in most patches. So cancel them in concertlevel and install them in selected patches.
I replaced a spacedesigner reverb with an reverb outside the system, it's processed from the interface. Same with a chorus.
I tested a newer MacbookPro retina, that was not better than mine. The difference was, it produced little dropouts every 10 seconds.
Hopefuly there will be a update for 3.1 soon.
And be serious: Before 3.1 you could play a show without dropouts, but was it fun? Mainstage urgently needs better latency capabilities, generally.

  • Overload Issue in FSCT

I'm running FSCT to check users overload in Cent OS.
Now after the setup has been changed, no. of user overload has become less.
Initially overload used to be around 2200 users and the value has decreased to 800 users.
Can anyone suggest, what might be the cause. Seems something is missing in the setup.
    Setup specifications:
    Mem: 8TB
    Speed: 1000Mbps
    CPU: 4
We are having 4 windows clients.
    Thanks in advance.

  • PIR & capacity Overload Issue

    Dear All,
    I entered PIR for materiel-A 60,000 qunat. using t code MD61.
After MRP run i view the capacity over load using CM05 .
In CM05 i found capacity overload for my work center .All requirement assign into the first week and overload becomes 999%.In same work center for sub sequent week where capacity is available that capacity not utilized .So how can i flow my requirement to the next week and reduce my capacity over load.

    Dear,
This not possible in R/3 as MRP only look for material availability. So it can be possible through APO which will do the finite scheduling and capacity planning.
Best way according to your capacity put the demend in MD61 suppose week 1 -200 wk 2 100 like wise that.
In R/3 you need to do the Capacity leveliing where finite scheduling take place.
If there is any overload you need to level it.
    Options
1.You can dispatch the operation to another work center.
2.You can do splitting so that the same operation is carried out by many people
    3. You can shift the dates
    4. You can do external processing.
5.You can reduce the reqmts qty.
Capacity leveling is only a tool. If you have overload SAP cannot help unless you have the resources to tackle it.
    Please refer this link,
    [Scheduling and Capacity planning|http://www.sap-img.com/production/why-used-planning-tools-like-apo-or-i2.htm]
    Hope clear to you.

  • Overload Issue When Mac's Asleep

    Hello
I'm having an unusual problem. Twice now, if my Mac Pro is in sleep mode when the UPS does it's check, I get an overload error and the mac shuts down. Anyone else having this problem? No other devices are connected, monitor is off. If the mac is awake, no problem. The only apps running are Finder and the NDAS Utility (NAS is off)
    Mac Pro (Early 2008)
    4GB RAM
    300GB (2); 1TB; 2TB HDDS
    10.5.8
    UPS is APC's 800VA, 540Watts
    Any ideas?
    Music Luver

    Look up "inrush current" a Mac Pro when it comes out of sleep seems to cause one of those;
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inrush_current
and, as important or more, your UPS is on the verge of being too small, and there are enough reports of odd behavior from that. Plus having more headroom in terms of VA/Watts tends to not put as much stress on UPS and leads to longer life for its battery (I have a couple APC 1500s going strong after 5-7 yrs).
Use what you have for other equipment instead.
CyberPower has a nice 1300-1500VA in the $149+ bracket with trim and boost and more.

The question comes up enough, sometimes it seems more turn into long threads and educational seminars.

  • WAAS in serial clustering overload issue

Hi I have a customer that we converted for a WCCP
load balancing  scenario to a inline serial clustering scenaio due to the m
igration to a vrf aware environment. The customer's network is being converted to vrf's and vrf's and WCCP
dont play nice so we had to go inline. So right now the first WAE is
connected to both swiches the switches run HSRP. The L0 and L1
of the first wae go to the switches, W0 W1 of the first WAE got to L0 L1 of the second WAE and W0 W1 go to the routers. This has been working fine, however the customer complained that on friday all traffic stopped and they had to power off the wae's to retore connectivity. Right now they are off so I can look at any of the syslogs, but the customer was saying they got a lot of overload syslog errors. These are 67'4 with 8Gb ram.
Zach in your book, you state that serial clustering wont provide "load balancing", however when the first WAE becomes overloaded, the other WAE will optimize new connections. What happens to the traffic on the first one, because it appears that it stops forwarding or significantly slows traffic. This design was based on these references in the book so I need to know if this still works the same in 4.1 code. We are on the latest greatest code. I will open a TAC next week as they are currently powered off and I cannot pull the serial or logs right now. One thing curious though is that I was able to get the CPU stats for these boxes from the Central manager and the CPU hasnt gone over 10% all last week. I would think if in overload they would be at a significantly more than that.

In the serial inline clustering case, when the first WAAS device in the cluster (relative to the client) reaches the maximum number of optimized connections, they will spill over to the second WAAS device inthe cluster, which can optimize them.
Opening a TAC case is the right next step.  We're going to need system reports from the devices, so you'll have to power them back on.  If you're concerned about disrupting traffic again, you can power the WAAS devices back on, but shutdown the inline groups.  This will cause the devices to go into bypass operating mode.

    Zach

  • Large attachment reside in instance, any overloading issue?

    Hi,
    By using the following api:
    Attachment.create(contents : fileContent, name : fileName, description : fileName + " file", remarks : "This is the large file attachment!");
Does this means that if the file is 5M, the process instance will be 5M+ in memory?
If the above is true, wouldn't this cause oveloading of memory especially if I have multiple concurrent users at the same time?
Do correct me if I am wrong.
If the above is true, is it possible to delete the attachment from the instance, so that the application will only retrieve it as and when required?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    G

in summary, here is how to fix it:
Go to Mail --> Preferences --> Fonts & Colors --> Message list font and changed it to any other font, and back to what you'd want it to be. Now notice your paperclip icon is back to normal.

  • Issues with Kontakt 5

    Hi,
I know the issue is more Kontakt 5 related, but there's no better place than apple forums to get the answers..
So basically, everytime i restart my mac and load a new project in logic, I have to manually load all the instruments that I use for Kontakt 5 (Drums, Bass, Piano).
I was wondering if there's something that I could do to avoid loading them manually..??
Also, I've ordered 4GB apple ram's for my mac because 2GB ram was giving me overloading issues. My mac has around 100GB HD space free and runs on 2.26 core 2 duo. Will the ram upgrade solve my issue ..??
    Thanks and Regards,
    Gaggy ..

Kontakt: load all your sounds, then:
...next time open the template instead of an empty project...
Your RAM upgrade will help, especially since you're using Kontakt, which can use a fair amount of RAM. And if you have too little RAM, the OS will dump RAM content to disk, but it will also have to read RAM content from disk sometimes or even all the time, and all this loading and unloading activity can max out the CPU; OTOH , your overloads could also simply be purely CPU-related, in which case the extra RAM will do little or even nothing to alleviate the problem. So: it depends. But it is a good idea nevertheless.
You have 100 GB free? On a 500 GB disk? Keep it at that, it's the recommended minimum "20 % free space" margin.

  • Can't Connect To Update Server - Is it overloaded?

    Hi,
Can't connect to iPhone update server and my connection is fine. Is this an Apple server overload issue?
    Thanks

    You are no alone
I made the mistake, first to update iTunes to version 7.6
And now, I am unable to get the new iPhone Firmware.
My friend, sitting right next to me, chose to do it the other

    and then the iTunes update.
I guess, I will have to wait...

  • Why does AU Lab keep overloading?

I downloaded and installed AU Lab and Sunflower.  I dialed in the 31 band eq and have my computer speakers with sub sounding like a monster home stereo.  The thing that is confusing me is that every time I sit idle, walk away for a minute, or go into sleep mode, when I come back the AU Lab icon has an alert telling me I have 1 overload.  Sometimes when I pull it up, the overloads will increase till I shut the lab down.  What is going on here? Any ideas?

I think I may have figured out the overloading issue.
On my computer, it seems to stem from the input format (44.1k) being different from the ouput format (48k).
Previously, I wasn't able to go more than 2-3 minutes before the audio started frying and AU Lab started reporting overload events. After making that and a few other changes, I'm about 20 minutes in without a single overload. If this is a flat out fix, it is a marked improvement.
Here's my system specs, and everything that I did, in order that I tried. It's possible that everything needs to be setup the same way I have it set, but I think it was really just the last setting change that was the actual fix. Start with steps 5/6 below and see if that fixes it for you. If not, then move backward to 3/4, then 2, and 1 as a final step, if needed.
    OSX 10.9.2
    AU Lab 2.3
    Sound Blaster X-Fi 5.1 Pro
Set AU Lab to 64 bit by opening /Applications, right click on Au Lab, get info, uncheck 32-bit box.
This crazy AU Lab setup with seperate L/R channels. The busses are just for extra volume and can be left out. I was trying everything, so however you have AU Lab setup will probably work fine. This is just what I have.
Open Soundflowerbed. This adds a menu bar item.
    /Applications/Soundflower/Soundflowerbed
In Soundflowerbed, set Soundflower (2ch) buffer size to 2048
    Open Audio Midi Setup
    /Applications/Utilities/Audio Midi Setup
Set Soundflower (2ch) Output format to 44.1k

  • 10.5.1 has caused the return of "overload" errors during playback?

Install the 10.5.1 update today and went into LP8 to see if my project was all good. Did nothing other than just hit the play transport control and about 1/2 way thru I get the Overload error -- it has returned!!
I cured this before by removing the LP8 configuration files.
Ran Disk Utility after 10.5.1 update and got about 10+ SUID "can not repair" listings - no idea what that is about.
Anyone else having problems with LP8 post OS X 10.5.1 update?

    Fran,
do a SpotLight search on "com.apple.Logic"
but I believe the file is in: ...User>Library>Preferences>Logic
move the file somewhere else, then start up LP8 (it should recreate a new default one).
This fixed it the first time I upgraded from 10.4.x to 10.5, but I don't know if it will fix it for 10.5 to 10.5.1. Please let me know if it works for you.
Would be nice if Apple would chime in every once in a while with a FAQ or something at the top even if they don't want to directly talk to us human grunts. I've searched the LPS support area and nothing is mentioned about "overload" yet these discussion forums are full over "overload" issues.

  • Logic X CPU Overload with External HD, or HD Overload with Internal HD

System is MBP Mid-2010 with 4gb. I created a 3 audio track + 1 drummer track session. If the session is on the internal drive, then upon playback, I can see in the system usage display in the transport that there is a huge burst of hard disk usage close to 100% which then drop back to a low load within 10-20 seconds. Problem is that in some cases, it prompts the system overload error message, about 1/3 of the time.
Instead, I copied the session on an external FW800 drive (G-Technology). I no longer have any hard rive overload issues, but now it is the CPU which is almost fully utilized between 70-90%, also generating an overload error.
So I'm not really sure what to do here? What is the correct setup to have neither overload, or at least eliminate the initial HD overload?
    Help appreciated

    Try this...
    Download Etrecheck from here...
    http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck
    Install....
Now load the project where you are seeing high CPU usage in Logic and then run Etrecheck.. posting up the full report here when it's done...
That may shed some light on the true cause of your issue... as normally FW800 connected drives are very easy on CPU usage unlike USB external drives
    Cheers..

  • Logic Overloading when other Apps in use?

I finally got Logic & Leopard to talk after my first attempt months ago failed. What I'm finding is that if I'm listening to a mix (with Logic hidden so I don't "see" what I'm listening to) and, say, bring up Mail or Safari, Logic suddenly stops with the CA Overload error. I've seen there are a million threads with overload issues but what could be causing Logic to hate the other programs and seize up?
Also when I was loading my Apple Loops back in (post Leopard install) I got an unexpectedly quit message - which was a first!
My Buffer is set to 1024MB (for mixing) and 256MB for recording.

Maybe just running other software while Logic is playing back. Logic does not hate anyone. It is software code.
