Override action "save as" command with save for web batch processing

Hi everyone,
I've created an action that uses the save for web dialogue to optimise images for the web. When I use the batch command to process a full folder of images, even though I have "Override action "save as" command" checked, it ignores this and still uses the location that was used when the action was created.
Apparently this is a known issue in CS6 and previous versions but I wondered if anyone knows whether this has been fixed in Photoshop CC?
Appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Since save for web is an export plugin, none of the destination options have any effect on where the files are saved
or the file names.
Save for web only saves the files to the folder specified when you recorded the action.
(it's always been that way and still is in photoshop cc)
You might look at the Image Processor Pro
(included in Dr. Brown’s Services 2.3.1)
(has a save for web option)

  • Has anyone integrated with PaymentTech for credit-card processing?

My client would like to capture credit-card payments using PaymentTech payment processor. We are using Oracles Apps 11i. I am aware that AR is integrated with iPayment for credit-card processing. However iPayment uses Cybercash as the payment system and it does not currently support voiceauth (i.e. ability to capture/settle payments based on an authorization not obtained via iPayment).
Has any one done any custom development to integrate directly to PaymentTech (or to a
3rd party application which integrates with PaymentTech)? I would appreciate if you can provide any directions.

  • "Save As" command with very slow Finder response in Tiger

Ever since upgrading to Tiger using the "Archive & Install" option, my applications have had very slow operation of the "Save As" command. The Finder takes a long time to open and display the Save As window with folders and file name etc. This has occurred on all of my computers - a PowerMac G5, an iMac G4 and a PowerBook G4. It has not changed with upgrades as far as 10.4.5. I have tried the following suggested in another post about slow Finder actions without success:
Refreshing and reblessing the following system files and the folder followed by reboot.
    1. /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache
    2. /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
    3. /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernelcaches/
Trashing the following files and a folder followed by reboot
    1. /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-xxxx.csstore
    2. /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-xxxxxx.csstore
    3. /Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/
I have also deleted the /User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist file and rebooted.
Does anyone else have this problem and how do I solve it?
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Thank you Roger - this does seem to have solved the problem - my local Apple service people did not have an answer on this, so I'm grateful

  • Trying to save key strokes with a for loop

I have been trying to action script for years with no
success. I to some time off and learned javascript and some oop
(ruby) so I thought I would take another stab at it. I am still
    having problems. Here goes...
I have several movieclips on the stage that will be set up as
buttons. They all have the same effects associated with mouseover
and mouseout so I thought I could save some key strokes with a for
loop. But I can't get it working right. Could someone tell me what
    I am doing wrong please?
If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

    kglad,
Thanks for taking a look. In answer to your question. The
movie clip instance names are mc_ItemText0 ... mc_ItemText3.
    quote:
those declarations at the top of your for-loop aren't doing
anything useful. what are the names of you movieclips that are
    on-stage?
In reg\ards to the variable declarations, sorry my variable
names are causing confusion. I use the name "mc" for two different
variables. Once for the FOR loop and a separate time locally in the
functions grow and shrink. The ones set for the For loop are used
in the 'onEvents' at the bottom of the script. Sorry for the
    confusion.
Because the code works if I take it out of the FOR loop and
    replace the
's with the numbers that corruspond to the movie clip; I don't
think the similar names are conflicting because of the scope. To
make the code more readable and eliminate confusion I have posted
the code with unique variable names.
I have searched the forum for FOR loop difficulties and
found several cases that seemed similar to mine, but I didn't
    understand what was happening.

  • "Save As" Command in Word for Mac 2011

My Word for Mac 2011 "save as" command no longer defaults to the same file as the main doc. Is there a fix or work around? It used to be when I "Save As" it stayed in the same file. Now it defaults to the root directory: Documents.

Thanks for replying..., but I'm referring to the "Save As" command (unlike the Duplicate in iWorks). When I begin to "save as" a document the current file flashes in the drop down window, but then suddenly reverts to the root directory--Documents. Prior to a recent update, it would--as you suggest, remain in the current file of the document I am "saving as". What makes me suspicious is this 'flash' and switch. (i.e. I use  the previous day's journal entry and "save as" for the current day. These are not to go into the 2014 File in my Journal File. But instead, the "save as" command flashes from the 2014 File the goes all the way back to the Main Documents File.) Do I need to save the daily journal entry as a template to work around this?

  • Is it possible to run a Save for Web Batch?

I am trying to run a batch on a bunch of ai files to save them as JPEG using Save For Web & Devices (so they can be saved with certain settings).
I record a Save For Web action and then try to run a batch, but the batch just hangs at the Save For Web Dialog and waits for me to hit one of the Save/Cancel/Done buttons before continuing. Is there a way around this to get this so it can be a true batch process and not require me to interact with it?
    Thanks

Ahh! That was it! Well, part of it.
Now I got it saving, but I can't seem to override the target directory using the batch, but thats ok.
    Thanks!

  • How do I save a file with SAVE AS rather than SAVE A VERSION?

I have entered data on a template file and wish to SAVE AS a named file. Pages gives me only one option "Save a Version" which saves the template file overwritten. What has happened to "SAVE AS"

Just discovered this "feature" myself and I'll also be filling in a feedback form to point out what an appalling idea this was.  When I read that "Save As..." has been totally removed, can't even be activated as an option, I shook my head.
"Save As..." has been used in every program I can think of, cross-platform, for decades. It's as fundamental to the user experience as "Open File", "Close Window" or even "Save". It's like Apple deciding on a whim that a little cross is too boring for closing windows, let's make it a swirl instead - except users don't understand what it means.
My main problem (and maybe someone here can help me with a workaround) is that I often open an old file and tinker with it, then decide I'm making more changes than I thought etc. and it might be better to keep the original and "Save As..." to create a new document. From what I can see, if I hit "Duplicate" I'll end up with 2 files that have my recent changes.  I'll then have to rename the new "Duplicate" file and go back and "Undo" all my recent changes in the original until I'm back to the start (or use "Revert").  Fail to see a way around this and it's such a fundamental problem that will literally hamper my use of Pages on a daily basis, that I'm seriously considering buying Word (what a horrible prospect!).

  • Need help creating smooth graphic with transparency for web use

I have created a logo that is mostly white with white text and will appear over a textured background image. The logo contains text that I've converted to outlines. I've tried saving it as both a .gif and a .png, but when it's imported into iWeb, the outline of the graphic looks jagged and rastered. When viewed in Photoshop, it looks OK as a .png, but not great as the .gif.
I've tried saving it out as RGB, indexed color and greyscale, using PhotoShops "save for web" function or just saving it as 72dpi myself. I don't know how to get the edges to remain smooth. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you J - here's the weird thing. I actually HAD saved it as a PNG24, and it looked fine on my machine. When I sent it to my client, who used it on his iWeb page, it looks jagged.
After I got your answer, I went to his iWeb page and downloaded the same background image he's using and imported it into a Dreamweaver page on my machine, and placed the same PNG logo over top - it looks as crisp and clean as a whistle. I have to assume that something's happening when he imports it into iWeb. Since I know zero about iWeb, I guess I will have to post another question on their forum, unless anyone knows what could be causing this.

  • Temporarily changing the "open with" app for a batch of files

I've written a number of scripts which have been saved as application bundles. One of the resource folders (named "Image Files") contains all the image files used in the script -- but the image files may have a variety of default applications for opening.
I'm working on a separate script to facilitate editing the application bundles if and as necessary, and editing the image files is part of that. I need the option of opening the image files with an application other than the file's default application -- for example, I might want to open the image files with Photoshop.
In my editing script I can easily enough get a list of the image files. But to open them with, say, Photoshop, I find that I have to use a Photoshop tell block and the full path to each file as it is called (otherwise it opens with its default application). If there are hundreds of image files, that's a lot of work!
I'm seeking a "global" command that will tell all files in folder "Image Files" to open with app "Photoshop" (just in this script, as I don't want to change the defaults).
    Possible?

I probably didn't explain my requirements thoroughly
    Your suggestion:
    "You mean like:
    tell application "Finder"
open every file of folder "Macintosh HD:path:to:Image Files" using "Macintosh HD:Applications:PhotoShop.app"
    end tell"
    isn't quite it.
(For one thing, that has the somewhat alarming result of opening all the image files in the folder simultaneously, and there may be hundreds.)
In plain English, what I had in mind was more like:
"Set the 'open with' application of every file in folder 'Macintosh HD:path:to:Image Files' to Adobe Photoshop.app"
such that, if I were to have those files in a list, and were to open them one at a time, they'd open with Photoshop without further instruction -- this without affecting the default applications (or 'open with' applications) of the files from which those files were duplicated (assuming that there are such 'original' files).
Since this still may be unclear, here's another explanation:
    • Say I have ten .jpg files on the desktop, all set to 'open with' Preview.
    • I duplicate those ten files to the Image Files folder of the application bundle.
    • If I open any one of those files at the desktop, I want it to open in Preview.
    • But if I open any one of those files in the Image Files folder, I want it to open in Photoshop. (The
files in the Image Files folder could each have its 'open with' application reset manually, but
with hundreds of files I'd much prefer AS to do that. As far as I can tell, doing that -- manually
or with AS -- would result in different 'open with' settings for a file on the desktop and the
corresponding file in the Image Files folder, which is basically what I'm after.
Can I get AS to do this?

  • Cs3 Problems with saving for web and devices

Lately, I have had a problem saving my files for Web and Devices and the problem I am having is that when I save the file it saves as a very pixelated version of the very crisp illustration I have created.  I can easily copy and paste the file from Illustrator into Photoshop and save it that way but I would much rather just save it in Illustrator.
I am going to get the CS5 package shortly, however I wasn't sure if this problem would also continue in CS5.

It should not be a problem in CS 3 either, definitely not in CS5.
    Try this
    PC
    1. Quit Illustrator.
    2. Rename the AIPrefs file (for example, to AIPrefs.old) in the Users/(user)/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folder.
    3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
Also here should be a Save for the Web folder as well trash that also should be in the same directory.
    Mac
    1. Quit Illustrator.
2.Go to User/username/Library/Preferences/ Adobe illustrator CS4 Settings and trash the settings folder, the whole folder not just the contents of the folder..
    3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
Also here should be a Save for the Web folder as well trash that also should be in the same directory

  • Find heap memory Size for Web Intelligence processing server in BO 4.0

    Hi All ,
We need to gather data for sizing inputs. For Adaptive processing server , we can find same by going in CMC> Server > APS > Properties & check value for the parameter -Xmx  . Could you please tell how to  find the max heap memory allocated for a Web Intelligence processing server in BO 4.0 as for Webi server this parameter is not maintained. ?
    Regards ,
    Abhinav

    Hi Abhinav,
The maximum threshold is a value which may reach on peak usage and Webi processing server cannot occupy memory beyond this value at any time.
In your situation 9 Webi Processing servers with 16 GB of RAM on server is not recommended. This is because consider situation with total 16 GB of host RAM.
4 GB should left for OS
Tomcat will need minimum 2 GB for 200 users
So you are left with 10 GB RAM for all BO services
Now 9 Webi Processing servers with 6 GB of Threshhost will not work here
For this configuration you can have 2 Webi Processing servers with default threshold should be running on single host.

  • Architectural design for FTP batch processing

    Hello gurus,
I would like your help in determining the design for the following.
We receive several HL7 messages as a text file and copied to a shared network folder. All these files are created into several different folders depending on the region, message type. We need to come up with a B2B process to read all the files from the netwrok folder using FTP (batch process) and translate if needed (depending on the scenario) and transfer the files over to other destination folder on the network (using FTP).
For this, we can create TPs with Generic FTP channel and this works without any issues. By doing this way, we need to create TP for each and every type of message which reads the files from its own specified directory location on the network based on the the polling interval.
My question is, instead of creating TPs for each and every type of file, is there a way by which I can write a common web service that reads the source files from the network and based on the type of the file route to the proper destination folders. If it is possible, I would like to know the architecture for accomplishing this task.
I really appreciate your kind help on this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Raghu

    Hi Raghu,
Is it a B2B communication scenario?
By doing this way, we need to create TP for each and every type of message which reads the files from its own specified directory location on the network based on the the polling interval. Why cann't you have only one TP with multiple documents, channels and agreements?
My question is, instead of creating TPs for each and every type of file, is there a way by which I can write a common web service that reads the source files from the network and based on the type of the file route to the proper destination folders. If it is possible, I would like to know the architecture for accomplishing this task.Depends on your use case and products you want to use. You can very well use FTP adapter with BPEL and poll for files. Use DVM in composite to figure out the destination and send it there. You may use OSB if it is a typical routing case with heavy load and performance is a concern. You may use B2B as well here. So ultimately you need to figure out what you want and what tools you want to use.

  • Can anyone help me with compressions for web streaming? So lost!

    Hi there
    I am so confused !
I have the task of getting HD footage from my camcorder ready for quality web-streaming on a website. The clips need to be in mp4 format using the H264 codec. As we are dealing with HD footage, I want the viewer to be very happy with the picture quality. I must admit that most of my compression settings were kind of guess work and I was only judging my results by the final file size in relation to the video quality. I was getting file sizes of about 16mb per minute of video/ audio footage.
I had been keeping my frame size at 1280x720 and my bit rates were about 2000-2500kbits/s. Bandwidth is a real concern as there will be alot of people streaming these videos and there might be over a hundred videos on offer at any one time. I found that bit rates any less than this were resulting in a poor picture quality.
I have since learnt that what I was doing is completely wrong!
I was told that my frame size was way too big for normal web-streaming of HD footage and also that my bit rate was too high and bandwidth hungry. I never knew that the bit rates I set when compressing my videos would have an effect on the bandwidth that would be used. I am obviously showing my ignorance!
If anyone has anytime to help out someone who has no idea, I would absolutely love to know the answers to these questions:
    1. What is considered a good acceptable frame size to show HD quality footage? Maybe a size that if the quality is OK, they can also stretch the frame afterwards to fill their screen without losing too much quality?
    2. I want to use mp4 with the H264 codec for streaming, what is an efficient bit rate to set the compression at, so that the quality looks nice, but wont drain my bandwidth unnecessarily?
    3. Can anyone explain how the bit rates that I set for my compressions affect the way they are downloaded once they are on a website. Just cant get my head around this logic for some reason?
    4. What other compression settings should I be aware of (eg. keyframes etc)
I feel so lost in all of this and would appreciate it tremendously if anyone can help me out.
    Dan

If I select a bit rate of say 2500 to compress my videos at, what will that now mean for the end user? Will that mean that his connection will be forced to download that video at 2500kbp/s thus using alot more bandwidth?
Yes and no. If the end user has a connection that allows them to receive data at 2500 and the source from the web can supply data at that speed then they'll be able to stream in real time. However, if either end doesn't hold up (the client's connection can't receive data that fast or the source can't send it) then end users will be forced to watch it on delay - letting a good portion of the movie download first. QuickTime will do this anyway - if you (as I do) embed a movie into a webpage, when you visit that page QuickTime will calculate how fast data is being sent and received, and decide when to start the movie based on that calculation.
I was told that the bit rate I set when I compress these files locally on my machine, tell the streaming software how to allow users to download them - is that true or have I got all mixed up?
You keep saying streaming and I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Streaming can either mean having a finished file on the web that people can watch with minimal downloading in advance, or streaming can mean sending a live event out over the web. I think you mean the first. In that case, there is no streaming software on the server side - it's just a file that gets sent to a client just like any other file. The bitrate however does tell the client software, like QuickTime player when to start playing the movie (As I alluded to above).
If you really want to "stream" content - in other words allow people to go to page and start watching then I'm going to suggest you distribute in multiple formats. QuickTime has a number of presets you can use for "streaming", and these are usually small (320*240 or 640*480) videos that are under 1 Mbps (often less than 500 kbps). These files can normally be watched in real time by most clients.
The other catch with the route you're going is that some computers simply can't handle 720p content that is encoded in h.264 - they just don't have the power. If you look at podcasters many of them have chosen to go multiple formats in part for this reason - they have video embedded on their websites for watching in real time, small iPod formats for lower-power computers and iPods, and HD formats for platforms like the Apple TV that offer the best quality.
