Overriding text in table headers

Hello,
I am working on a document in CS3 where a table flows across several columns. I would like to set 2 header rows to appear in each column, however I wondered if it's going to be possible to have this but to override the text in one of the headers (it's the row style I want to repeat, not the text, which needs to say "blah blah blah" in the first column, then "blah blah blah continued" in subsequent columns)?
Does anyone know if this is possible? I was hoping to avoid moving rows around as text in the tables is prone to change.
Thanks for your assistance
Cheers
Deb

Table > Table Options > Headers and Footers > Repeat Header: Every Text Column, and then check the Skip First button.
This way you can set up the first column the way you like it, and then set up the second column the way you like all the rest.

  • How to wrap the text in column headers?

    Hi Friends,
    Can anyone please suggest how to wrap the text in column headers of a Java WebDynpro table?
    I believe that caption is the only UI element that a column header can have and it does not allow wrapping of the text.
    My original requirement is as follows,
    In a table I need to dynamically set the width of the columns according to the width configured by the user in some other view. All the columns of the table are dynamically rendered.
    Now what happens is when the user sets the width of the column to a rather low value, say 15 pixels, then the column is displayed like
    Supplier Catalog Name
    Sheila
    Catalog
    Name
    Dropdown
    As you can see it looks rather odd.
    Supplier Catalog Name is the header of the column and I use IWDCaption for header.
    Sheila Catalog Name Dropdown is the value of a particular row at the specified column. I am using a TextView as the TableCellEditor.
    I think what is happening here is that the framework wraps the text in the TextView according to the width specified (15px) and then the column width is extended because it can not accommodate the text (Supplier Catalog Name ) of the column header.
    We are using SAP NetWeaver Development Studio 7.0.12 as the IDE.
    I searched some forums and many people have suggested using scrollable columns but I don't understand how it will help in wrapping the text in a column header.
    Any help would be of great advantage.
    Thanks
    Amit

    Hi Deepti,
    Thanks a lot for the answer but the option that you have specified does not wrap the text. Instead it truncates the text being displayed and only the substring of the text which could be displayed in the given pixels is displayed.
    I need to show the whole text wrapped (Meaning if the width of the column is not sufficient then the text goes into the next line).
    Ayyapparaj,
    Thanks to you too for an helpful answer. It seems that the Netweaver has finally come up with a way to wrap the text in the column headers but as Manoj pointed out, I do not see the property headerTextWrapping  for a table column, Can you please specify which version of netweaver supports it?

  • More lines in Table-Headers

    Hello,
    I have an application developed with Netbeans and running under Glassfish using MySQL. All in the newest versions and running finr. But I have a design-question. Table-Headers normaly look like the following Screen-Shot:
    http://twi.homeip.net/bilder/java/Soll.jpg
    But in another Table I need some Headers with more Rows of text. Even the column-number is dynamical. So I have to create the Table on the fly. This works fine. Except for the Table-Header and the Backgroun of the text. I force the Row-Change with a "
    "-tag inside the StaticText wich I insert as Header in the Column. But the Header looks like the following Screen-Shot:
    http://twi.homeip.net/bilder/java/Ist.jpg
    My problem is the Background of the Headers. I want that the background looks the same all over the table. How can I do this?
    Thanks and regards,
    Thomas

    Hello,
    thanks for the answer. That is not exactly what I want. I Don't want spanned Table-Headers. I just want a table with some 1-line Headers and som 3-line headers and all should have the same Background. As you can see in my Screenshot they don't have the same background.

  • Pages 5.1 truncates text in tables

    Just discovered that Pages 5.1 truncates text in tables when exported to Pdf's even when created in Numbers and pasted. Superscripts were missing. Sometimes regular text after superscrips were missing. Too bad.

    It's a bug. Until fixed, you'll have to avoid baseline shift or use an earlier version of Pages. Submit Feedback from the Pages menu to let Apple know you are finding this bug.

  • "Convert Text to Table" Size limit issue?

    Alphabetize a List
    I’ve been using this well known work around for years.
    Select your list and in the Menu bar click Format>Table>Convert Text to Table
    Select one of the column’s cells (1st click selects entire table, 2nd click selects individual cell)
    Open “Table Inspector” (Click Table icon at top of Pages document)
    Make sure “table” button is selected, not “format” button
    Choose Sort Ascending from the Edit Rows & Columns pop-up menu
    Finally, click Format>Table>Convert Table to Text.
    A few days ago I added items & my list was 999 items long, ~22 pages.
    Tonight, I added 4 more items. Still the same # pages but now 1,003 items long.
    Unable to Convert Text to Table! Tried for 45 minutes. I think there is a list length limit, perhaps 999 items?
    I tried closing the document w/o any changes. Re-opening Pages & re-adding my new items to the end of the list as always & once again when I highlight list & Format>Table>Convert Text to Table .....nothing happens! I could highlight part of the list up to 999 items & leave the 4 new items unhighlighted & it works. I pasted the list into a new doc and copied a few items from the middle of the list & added them to the end of my new 999 list to make it 1003 items long (but different items) & did NOT work. I even attempted to add a single new item making the list an even 1000 items long & nope, not working. Even restarted iMac, no luck.
    I can get it to work with 999 or fewer items easily as always but no way when I add even a single new item.
    Anyone else have this problem?  It s/b easy to test out. If you have a list of say, 100 items, just copy & repeatedly paste into a new document multiple times to get over 1,000 & see if you can select all & then convert it from text to table.
    Thanks!
    Pages 08 v 3.03
    OS 10.6.8

    G,
    Yes, Pages has a table size limit, as you have discovered. Numbers has a much greater capacity for table length, so if you do your sort in Numbers you won't have any practical limitation.
    A better approach than switching to Numbers for the sort would be to download, install and activate Devon Wordservice. Then you could sort your list without converting it to a table.

  • How to get table headers in jsp page

    hi,
    this is praveen, can any one help me to solve this problem.
    how to get table headers in a jsp page. whether it is possible using javascript or is there any other way.
    pls send rep.
    thank u.

    Hai ,
    I Think  This will help ful for u check it ,
    File=new FileLog("f:/WebServiceTrace/trace2.%g.log", 800000, 10,                                        new  TraceFormatter());
    The above code specifies the path for your log file.
    Then add this file as a log location and then log the traces. For this you can use the following code like:
    Location location=Location.getLocation(className);
              location.addLog(file);
              location.setEffectiveSeverity(Severity.ALL);
              location.entering(methodName);
    To Create j2ee apllication
    In path new-j2ee-jsp to create JSP's can only be used for J2EE applications.
    So as you are using this in Portal Application, this does not work.
    You can test this bahavior by creating a new Web Application (New-Project-J2EE-Web Module Project)
    In this Web Module Project, try creating JSP, this will work.
    So dont use new-j2ee-jsp to create JSP in Portal Application instead use New-File and name the file as jsp.

    When you say center what exactly do you mean, horizontally or vertically centered?
    If I test your code in IE6, IE7, IE8 and  Firefox the text appears horizontally centered??????

  • Itallic Text in Table header

    Hello All,
    We are using the TableView Control in one of our aplications to display search results.When we built this particular application we were on EP6 SP2 PL 29.
    Some how in that version teh header text in the tabledataview control was displaying italic text.
    We used the following piece of code do this.
    bean.setSearchHeader("Search Result(s) For: <i>"+ bean.getSearchString()+ " </i>("+ mySearch.getTrueResults()+ ")");"
    This would display the keyword we searched for in Italic.
    Now we have migrated from EP6 SP2 to EP6 SP16.
    The correct portal version is:
    J2EE Engine 6.40 PatchLevel 102141.313
    Portal 6.0.16.0.0
    KnowledgeManagementCollaboration 6.0.16.3.0 (NW04 SPS16 Patch3)
    Now in this particular version when we search for any keywords.
    The results are displayed but the header data does not show the keyword in Italics, however it displayes the "<i>" tag.
    Let me know whether we can display italic text in table Header.
    Thanks and Regards
    Manoj Kumar

    Hi,
    to customize the header of the TableView change the header renderer.
    1. implement IHeaderRenderer interface:
    public class HeaderRenderer implements IHeaderRenderer {
    public void renderHeader(TableView tableView, IPageContext pcontext) {
      TextView tv = new TextView();
      tv.setEncode(false);
      tv.setText("<i>italic header text</i>");
      tv.render(pcontext);
    public boolean willRenderHeader(TableView tableView, IPageContext pcontext) {
      //allways render
      return true;
    2. set the header renderer class to your TableView object:
    tableView.setHeaderRenderer(new HeaderRenderer());
    this should show the text in the table header in italics.

  • Reg. Repeating Table headers in Report Output

    Hi,
    I have designed a simple RTF Template as below.
    Sr. No. Customer No. Customer Name.
    If the output is taken in RTF/PDF, and if the no. of records are huge that records go to the next page, then is there any possibility to repeat the table headers to the next and consecutive pages?

    >
    To repeat header rows:
    Select the row(s) that you want to repeat on each page.
    From the Table menu, select Heading Rows Repeat.

    try some thing like this.
    <af:inputtext value = "#{pageflowScope.it1.inputvalue == null ? 'no data to display' : 'some thing as your needed' } " >
    </af:inputext>
    <af:table emptyText="#{bindings.ApplicationsView1.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}" >
