Owb first step

hi all,
i'm dealing for the first time with owb.
i'm doing some mappings in order to populate ods tables from staging tables (external tables).
in order to convert the type of a column i came across the anydata cast and tried to use it. since it gave me a bunch of errors i decided to use the expression module using the converting functions.
so here the first question: 1) what does the anydata cast module does? how can i use it?
when importing tables from oracle to owb i noticed that the column with type integer are converted in number. so here the second question: 2) why is that? is that normal?
during a mapping using the expression module i take a varchar2 variable and through the substr(field,1,3) function i put it into a char(3) variable since the end field it's char(3) type. if i start the mapping it gives me the error saying that the destination buffer is too small. however if i set the type to varchar2(3) that error does not occur. so here the third question: 3) why is that? giving this problem i get a lot of alert during the validation problem.
least but not last here question four: 4) where can i find a short description of the usage and what they are used for the module in the palette menu?

I have went through the link (all 7 chapters) that you provided and performed all the hand-on exercise as well, still I am not able to find a Direct solution to my problem.
With the info from the Link: We created the flat-file SOURCE module and external table in the TARGET module.
My Problem is to APPEND data in the existing table of the database, as one would have done through SQL-LOADER. My Flat file will keep on changing on daily basis and data must get append to 1 table (daily)

How to skip first step in a FPM roadmap?

Hello, Our client wants the first step disabled/not displayed in a standard roadmap that has been delivered with the software. The standard roadmap uses component FPM_GAF_COMPONENT and consists of 4 steps (and is based on an application config and component config). They want to directly display the second step with certain values in the second screen pre-populated from a custom application (the second screen would in normaly flow be populated from first screen). So I have two tasks:
1) disable first screen/step
2) populate second screen/step with data from custom application
This is my first exposure to FPM and roadmaps. I tried deleting the first step from the component configuration and making the current 3 step process into a 3 step process, but this does not work and did not seem to be the way to go. On looking around I see some documentation for methods HIDE_MAINSTEP to be used thru IF_FPM_GAF interface, but am not sure where to implement this interface or what code to use in the method.
Can anyone provide step by step suggestions and examples of codes please?

I was able to get to the HIDE_MAINSTEP method. However, when I try to hide step 1, which is my requirement, there is a short dump. If I hide step 2 or 3 out of the 4 step process, the sequence of screens is showing up appropriately. However, when I hide step 1, there seems to be some problem in mehod WDDOMODIFYVIEW of view CNR_VIEW of component FPM_GAF_COMPONENT where in a loop for the first loop pass, even though step 1 is hidden, the code is trying to access the road_map_step element which is not instantiated. We have opened a note for this issue.

The recommendation is always to make another ID for use with a paid books account. And while I can't swear this is at the root of your issue, you should in any case reach out to Apple for assistance on this one, I think.

QT 7.2 & iPhone - First Step to Ringtones?

The new QT 7.2 has an export to iPhone and iPhone cellular.
It only shows as "Movie", but exports "audio only" files also.
Could this be the first step in giving us personalized ringtones?

This is very interesting. I just downloaded QT 7.2 because of your post. There are obviously two options, export to iPhone and export to iPhone (cellular). I tried both of them. Export to iPhone appears to convert the movie into mp4 format with little change to the file size. On the other hand, export to iPhone (cellular) reduces the file size to 1/10 of the original size. I am not sure how one can use the latter option. Does anyone have any clue?

After getting the FDS , first understand the functionality of the requirment or take the help of the functional consultant and then start preparing TS ( TEchnical Specification) and do coding and get your doe reveirewed and prepare test cases and do testign in sand box and quality environment and after having got the confrimation that the requirment is met then port it to production.

Using diskpart as the very first step in TS

I want to have a very first in TS as hard drive clean and partitioning it. so once WinPE is downloaded, system reboots, it will check 'IsLaptop' or 'IsDesktop' condition and if its Laptop, it should clean the disk 0 and parition it. I have tried to achieve
this but i am getting an error. Its a MDT based TS in Configuration manager 2012 R2 (MDT 2013 is integrated). Laptops are encrypted and just need to be wiped and reload without databackup. I feel this is the easiest way to have dispart clean the disk, recreate
partition based on condition if its laptop.
Steps i am doing is :
1. diskpart. exe /s diskpart.txt - first step in TS, and has condition to run only if 'IsLaptop equals True'. I have created package for diskpart.txt ( i am wondering if this could be an issue, if it tries to download the package on hdd and hdd doesn't have
partition yet)
2. set imageosver to 6.1 - since its for windows 7
3. Format and partition disk 6.1 - will format and create 2 partitions 'OS disk' and 'BDE'
then other steps starts like Use toolkit package, gather and UDI wizard.

You could have the Format/Partition steps run only if the Chassis/Model type = that of a laptop or one of your laptop models. If those parameters aren't met (e.g. PC is not one of the desktop models or doesn't have a the laptop ChassisTypes), the partition/format
steps wont' run.
I've ran into issues when trying to run commandline steps that require files to copy down first. I have the best luck when the drive(s) are properly cleaned, repartitioned, and formatted first.

LM07. just the TO pending on first step of picking

My transfer orders have got two steps: first step is the picking that normally is done in the morning. The second step is the transfer step and it is done in the afternoon.
So I am using the transaction LM07 (Picking System Guided ) and I only want to see the TO pending on the first step. One time the first step is done I want to see the following TO.
The second step will be done with LM02: confirmation via storage unit
Can I do it without any development?
I would like to skip the order already picked and go to the next without the transfer step.

Human task as first step of a BPEL process

Hello every one, thanks in advice for your replays,
My version is Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.3.1.0. I've tried the search but didn't find satisfying answer.
First I will try to describe use case I'm trying to solve using BPEL and standard bundled Worklist App.
I have defined a fairly straight human-centric process witch should be initiated by human data entry or (XOR) by input message (WS call) from third party application. I've read the documentation but haven't find any way how to define BPEL human task that will instantiate the process. In other words is it possible to create human task with form and use this task/form as an process initiator in Worklist App ?
I'm aware that i can create an external form (not BPEL human task form) witch can be embedded in Worklist App and call the engine JAVA API. But this is no the case since i will have to manage the two independent components of my single business process - keeping them in sync.
I don't think that initiating a process an then picking the first step from a queue to entry form data is elegant ant efficient solution (maybe my view is influenced by other BPM product i was working with).
Also since it is a micro project i cant afford writing my own Worklist App with dynamic form binding.
So friends please help with your ideas and solution's

Standard BPEL process is usually initiated by client HTTP/SOAP call which passes initial set of data to process (i.e Oracle BPEL Console Dashbord Post XML Message functionality, or some third party application WS call with process data). Oracle BPEL Console generates form based on BPEL Process WSDL, thats great for ad hoc testing but i need bit more.
I' would like to have a functionality that will dosimilar stuff as Console but in a worklist application further more I would like to have a way to define the form of this firs step and have that definition with my BPEL process project in JDeveloper.
Business case for such need is as follows:
+ Greenfield process area
+ No application supporting those processes
+ No know other rigger then phone call or fax

First Step Towards an entry in SAP HCM

Some days back, I wrote a query about doing a certification in SAP HCM on this platform to which quite supportive people replied. As and when I decided to go for the certification and gathered some info, some experienced people cautioned me about doing it as they said that SAP HCM would soon be offset by SucessFactors. Hence there is no point investing your time and effort in the certification...Also I came to know that there is no certification or training provided in SuccessFactors...
Now my point is that how as a Fresher should I take a first step to enter in the industry as all these things are quite mingled with each other?

I don't think that Success Factors will make SAP HCM redundant in the near future. Both will co-exist in the near term for sure and some customers will go for hybrid option of having both Success Factors and SAP HCM.

in the first step of lsmw,
i selected batch input recording, gave name ' ytrial01' and when i pressed overview,
it says please enter valid name
so i went to tcode, shdb and then created a recording with name 'ytrial02' and saved it,
came back and gave this name ' ytrial02' , it still says, please enter valid name.
can some one help.

Please follow below steps :
1. When you select batch input recording ,here do not enter name first time.
First click on overview -> Now click on create button -> you get pop up window ->
give the recording name ,Description -> enter -> enter transaction code ->enter all required fields when you go for other transaction.
Once you completed recording -> here you will see new screen -> please click on default all,click on save -> go back -> go back,now enter recording name
You will not get any error message.

IPhone freezes in first step of sync

It crashed some days ago, I did a hard reboot but it was sluguish and would not go beyond the first step of sync, or when much, go into step 2 and then loop back to step one. I resetted the thing but the problem continues. I got my contacts in it yet, but all else, apps, music, photos were lost and I cannot reinstall the apps I already own.

Make sure you have the following steps in order in your process chain.
1.Start Process Variant.
2.Delete Indexes step.
3.Load data.
4.Create Indexes.
5.Roll up (if required)
6.Compression(if required)
7.Completion job.
8.PSA deletion(if required)
I process chain should allways start with a start Process variant step.

Issue with TestStand 2010 or 2012 hanging on the first step after continuously running TestStand?

I am having issues with a CVI test sequence hanging in TestStand 2010 & 2012. Currently, the only way to resolve this is to exit/close TestStand. Following this we must replace the entire project with a backup project. This only occurs about once a day or so with the sequence running continuously. It will hang on the first or second step in the sequence, usually the first step. The project uses several continuous XINET CAN messaging, so I wonder if this could be related to that.

Yes, I have. It hangs at the first statement in the code after all the variable defines. It does seem to be related to any particular statement, as we had skipped that test step, and then it hangs on the next step at the first statement.

[QUESTION] First Steps: Java ME SDK 3.0 AND NOKIA N95

Hi! this is my first post in the forums. I am a c# .net programmer and this is my first step to start programing mobile phones with Java ME.
I already downloaded and installed de Java ME SDK 3.0 and try the examples, then i build a sample and generate the jad.
After upload to my N95 it says that cant install the app because is for the N95 or is not supported....(I was thinking like winforms in .net... build install and run ....hahaha!)
but i found that every phone has its SDK that i must install to develop app.
So my question is
If i have the JME SDK 3.0 installed what i need to build any Nokia or Nokia N95 app. If is possible can you tell me the configuration that i need or maybe the steps to install the SDK from nokia to use in JME., apps, emulators, docs, etc.
PD: I want to start an app that tells me the location using the internal gps of the N95.

check if ME SDK is configured to MIDP 2.1. Also check whether N95 supports MIDP 2.1 or 2.0; if needed, change SDK build settings to MIDP 2.0. // this seem to be rather popular problem
...I want to start an app that tells me the location using the internal gps of the N95...Google for +"nokia n95 jsr 179"+ (jsr 179 is location API in Java ME).
