Oxygen-gtk Problems

I'm trying out KDE, and trying to get my GTK+ apps to blend in. I followed the instructions on the wiki, and everything seems to work except:
All of KDE's lovely special effects stopped working. (even though they're still turned on)
When I try to log out or shut down, the ui freezes, and I have to turn off, or kill X from another tty.
This only seems to happen when I install and set up oxygen-gtk2 and oxygen-gtk3. When I disable them and/or remove them the special effects come back, and I can log out and shut down normally.
P.S. I'm using KDM. When I log out, and it freezes, I kill X and I'm instantly returned to the KDM interface.

Pretty sure this fixed most of it, though I can tell there's still remains of the problem sitting around because oygen-icons is a dependency for something I have.
Edit: Now when installing things with yaourt I get the error "missing dependency for kdebase-runtime : oxygen-icons".

  • GTK applications do not use KDE's colour scheme while using oxygen-gtk

As the title says, GTK apps use widgets from oxygen gtk but they only use the default oxygen colour scheme. If I change KDE's colour scheme GTK applications do not.
This is the intended behavior: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl … ctOxEEnptY
    However on My system:
    http://i.imgur.com/3QMWb.png
    http://i.imgur.com/n6Cug.png
No, it is not just changing colours while the applications is open, problem persists if I restart the application or even reboot.
Anyone know what the problem is? Could it be faulty permissions?
I have experienced this issue in the past with Arch, not just with the recent KDE 4.9 release but with 4.8 as well.

    Solved.
I am using kde-gtk-config from AUR and the ~/.gtkrc-2.0 and ~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde4 created by it were conflicting with other files.
I had to delete ~/.kde4/share/config/gtkrc-2.0 as well as ~/.kde4/share/config/gtkrc

It seems there are a lot of people using oxygen-gtk… So, previous topic on this very thing: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1262759
Sadly the only option now is to change gtk3 theme to something different than oxygen-gtk.

  • [SOLVED] Distorted fonts in oxygen-gtk theme

I have install oxygen-gtk2 theme along with gtk-kde4.
When my desktop effects are ON I am seeing distorted fonts in drop down menu's of gtk applications.

I have "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator HD".
I don't have flash video player running. This issue is consistent even without running anything else.
And It is not visible in kde application or with other gtk themes.
It comes only with oxygen-gtk, with kde desktop effects activated, only in gtk applications, only for text in pop-up menus.
Even other texts in those application are normal.
Is anybody else facing same issue in this combination ?

  • How to get Foxitreader look right with oxygen-gtk?

I installed Foxitreader from AUR. When it starts from terminal, there are errors as:

(FoxitReader:3522): Pango-WARNING **: error opening config file '/usr/lib32/config/pango/pangorc': No such file or directory

Is is because I am using a 64 bit system?

Yes I did. All other gtk2 apps such as Firefox, Claws-mail, Libreoffice work perfectly.
I have installed both pango and lib32-pango.

  • Update xfree 4.3 and gtk problem

I have 2 problem after update from pacman -Syu:
    1. the font in the gtk application is disappeared. gftp, rox, xchat and more
        see example: http://web.ntrade.it/shot/gftp.jpg
        and gnome 2.2 d'ont work.
    2. The vmware start error:
    $ vmware
XIO:  fatal IO error 0 (Success) on X server ":0.0"
after 3797 requests (3796 known processed) with 27 events remaining.
someone has some idea. Tanks for help

Ok. I thought I'd check this with the X (ver 4.3.0-2) I have installed before downloading the updates for my systems (which may take some time.) So far, from a clean install and having the init hacks in place, vmware installed and seems to run fine. I will try this again after I get whatever files I must have via ftp but I'm on a 56k ISP so it will be at least late tomorrow for sure.
You might try re-installing from the tarball although I don't know how much difference this will make. Unfortunately, there is no uninstall option for the non-rpm install method.
FWIW, the init hacks mentioned in the other vmware install text are simply to fool the installer. IIRC, the config never touches them at any later date. All vmware needs for proper operation is the daemon run at startup and properly compiled modules. With this in mind, it might be possible to create a pacman PKGBUILD file than can install the program. This is simply an excercise in logic as they are developing version 4 which is in beta release right now.

  • OS X Lion and gtk problems

We are trying to install our Gtk app on new Lion laptop.  Installed Macport for php5-gtk.  App loads okay and retrieves data just fine, but the windows are very small and those that should open up maximized won't.  Also, the command to position the window in the center of the screen fails.
App works fine on Tiger and Snow Leopard using same install.  Obviously we're missing something this time around, but no clue as to what that could be.
    Any help is welcome.

and in order to try and fix this problem I attempted to update the OS on the computer - this didn't work either.

  • Oxygen-Icons problems

Oxygen-Icons is a dependency of something I have and for some reason it messes up things when I try to install something. Here's what happens when I try to install freetype2-ubuntu.
    $ yaourt -S freetype2-ubuntu
    [irrelevant things]
    ==> freetype2-ubuntu dependencies
    - zlib (already installed)
    - error: (Building from AUR)
    - could (Building from AUR)
    - not (Building from AUR)
    - open (Building from AUR)
    - file (package found)
    - /var/lib/pacman/local/oxygen-icons-5.5.5-1/depends: (Building from AUR)
    - No (Building from AUR)
    - such (Building from AUR)
    - file (package found)
    - or (Building from AUR)
    - directory (Building from AUR)
    So everything fails in yaourt.
When I run pacman -S oxygen-icons I get a page full of "error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/local/oxygen-icons-5.5.5-1/depends: No such file or directory"
and if I proceed with the installation it says all the files already exist.
I'm in a big hole and short on time. Sorry if this isn't as clear as it could be!

GCC is used to compile C language source files. In order to compile C++ source you want to use g++, which will resolve your second error.

  • GTK problem when starting pcmanfm

    Hi!
I changed my default file manager to PCmanfm following the instructions on this link
    http://lifehacker.com/software/linux-ti … 288616.php
Now, when i select Places->Computer it opens PCmanfm just like i should. If I select Places->Home folder, or Places->Desktop it opens a dialog titled "Find Files", which enables me to searh for files on my computer
Do you have any idea what could be the matter?
Also, when i click on the Computer icon on my desktop, it runs Nautilus. How do I change that, to run PCmanfm by default?
    Cheers!

    Hi Volker,
I made some tests and could certify that my kernel patch 123 which is running on QAS in the same box isn't affected by the most recent patch level (149).
I did all the steps accordingly to OSS note 1077496, applied patches for LOCALES, R3INLPGM, SAPSTART and DW, plus LIB_DBSL, R3TRANS and TP.
But I can't start a sapgui session if using "P" as system_language, as I have configured on QA system.
I've opened an OSS ticket and they suggested note 1037947. But running TCODE I18N results in a known issue, it says that I must correct locales de_DE.ISO8859-1 and pt_PT.ISO8859-1 on application server.
I think that the "best" solution for my case is applying an older kernel patch (123) as I have on QAS and PRD, until media from IBM containing these additional locales don't arrive.
    Can you another advice?
    Thank you, ever n' ever!
    Regards,
    André

  • Gtk-qt-engine problem

Hello, Is anyone else having a problem with setting their gtk theme to qt4 when using the oxygen theme? with this new install it doesnt seem to use oxygen but rather some ugly flat type of style.
    thanks in advance.

I think that gtk-qt-engine is deprecated(im not sure),  take a look to the wiki for two alternatives:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KD … plications
There is it all you need to install tu use qtcurve and port your gtk themes. I personally recomend oxygen-gtk(which is a gtk theme) with lxappearance, because if you use qtcurve some gtk apps can be slowed down(e.g. Gimp,Firefox, etc), gimp is practially unusable because of this.
If you dont care about the slow performance using qtcurve to port gtk themes, do the following:
    pacman -S qtcurve-gtk2 qtcurve-kde4 gtk-kde4
after installing it go to system setting->GTK+ Style, choose your options and reboot
    But i recomend oxygen-gtk:
    pacman -S oxygen-gtk lxappearance
To change the GTK theme go to applications->setting->customize look and feel
if you installed something else to integrate gtk themes, please remove it, these to alternatives are the most updated right now
P.S. qtcurve generates a gtk theme from your current kde theme and oxygen-gtk is a gtk theme made to fit the default oxygen kde theme.
    Take care

  • [KDE] Icon theme in some GTK+ apps is stuck to Oxygen

I've been trying to figure out what my problem is for a few days now... For some reason, when I try to change the icon theme to anything besides Oxygen for GTK apps when I'm using the oxygen-gtk theme, it doesn't change. But if I switch to a theme such as Raleigh, it uses my icon theme.
The icon theme I am trying to set is KFaenza. I also tried Faenza-Cupertino, using Faenza as a fallback, but that didn't work either.
I saw this topic, which is almost my exact issue. This didn't help either.
I tried multiple tweaks to my .gtkrc-2.0, such as commenting out the theme name, the first "include" (that sets my theme to oxygen-gtk), and commenting out the fallback icon theme line. None of these work.
I also tried putting the icon themes in /usr/share/icons, which didn't help.
I am using the System Settings module to set my GTK+ theme. I have an up-to-date system (just reinstalled a couple of days ago).
Currently I am using an unmodified gtkrc created by System Settings.
Hopefully all this info helps, and thanks in advance for any answers!
UPDATE: I just installed gconf-editor to see if I could fix anything in there. It just turns out that gconf-editor is obeying my settings and this is a problem with Chromium and not GTK.
UPDATE #2: I also installed Firefox and it is also not obeying my settings.

Copy the icon theme folder to /usr/share/icons
(ex. if your icon theme folder's name is Oxygen-Refit, it should be at /usr/share/icons/Oxygen-Refit)
Then edit ~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde and add the line baghera suggested. It works here.
Note that you need to do this to .gtkrc-2.0 (yes, thats without -kde) too if you don't use gtk-qt-engine to change gtk themes.
Also note that every time you change the gtk theme (either via systemsettings or via 3rd party utility) this line is autoremoved from the corresponding file(s).
Finally, make sure you close the gtk app you want the change to be shown and reopen it. All newly opened gtk apps should show the change.

  • [Resolved] Adobe-AIR and some other GTK apps crash

Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: “oxygen-gtk”
    HTMLLoader failed to initialize
How its work? oxygen-gtk are installed and works good with other gtk+ apps.
    Help me pls.
