P12 push certificates problem

Hello,
we're currently facing a problem while trying to download a new viewer ipa/zip: while we've already installed the p12 push certificates through "notifications" panel with no errors -therefore assuming they are valid-, when back to the DPS App Builder the download links are still asking for the p12 certificates :-/ Is there any reported bug/workaround on this?
Thank you for your assistance.

App Builder is asking you for the certificates to sign the app, not the certificates for push notifications. They're separate certificates.

We revoked the Apple Push certificates at the Apple Push Certificates Portal website and disabled Apple Push Notifications in the Server settings (we don't really need the push notifications).  However, we are still getting emails from our server indicating that the certificates are about to expire.  Can anyone suggest why the server would continue to send these expiration warnings after both revoking the certs and disabling Push Notification service?

  • Error in Viewer Builder importing PNS p12 Development Certificate

I am getting an error in the Viewer Builder importing the PNS P12 Development Certificate.
I have already made the certificate for PNS Production/Distribution and for Development.
I was successfully able to import the PNS p12 Production/Distribution Certificate.
When I went to the next field to import the certificate for PNS Development - error says "Not finding expected label 'Apple Development IOS Push Services:' or 'Apple Development Push Services:' in this certificate"
I followed the same process for both PNS Distribution and Development Certificates.
Why would one work and one not? The Viewer Builder gives very little feedback?

I've been running into this same problem for DAYS now with an app I'm trying to build, except for me it's the production PNS p12 certificate.
I've tried creating a new app several (countless, actually) times. Since I never get to the point where I can save it, I've had to create a totally new app at every attempt—is this what happened to you? And it eventually worked?
I've also installed and uninstalled Viewer Builder a few times now and the same problem occurs.
BTW, I send my certificate to Adobe and they said that it was valid.

  • Renewing Push Certificate with renamed Apple ID

    Hello everyone,
I have a specific problem here:
    - I set up an OS X Lion Server at work to manage a bunch of iOS devices with Profile Manager
    - I created an Apple-ID for my work-email to request a Push Certificate for that server
    - I then RENAMED the Apple-ID to a functional email-address (however, my original one is still setup as alternative email address)
    - I can still see my Push Certificate when login in to the Push Certificate Portal
    - Now, I need to renew that certificate in 30 days.
Question 1: Can I renew that certificate using the Server.app (which still knows my old email-address) or do I need to rename my Apple-ID AGAIN to the old state before doing so?
Question 2: Will I need to re-enroll my iOS devices with either option stated above?
Question 3: I plan to upgrade to Mountain Lion Server - in the process, I will be asked for an Apple-ID for the Push Certificate ... will it be clever enough to recognize my renamed Apple-ID, or do I need to rename it before that as well?
Question 4: Is it possible to let Apple Support handle this mess, has anyone tried that successfully so far?
    Thanks for reading :-)
    Best regards,
    Olaf

I'd like to share my experience how the process went.
As initially stated, I needed to renew my Push Certificate within 30 days, but had renamed my Apple ID (from [email protected] to [email protected]).
Renewing meant, re-enrolling all devices. Somebody suggested, I should upgrade to Mountain Lion Server first, THEN renew, it would be easier then (you know, click one button and BOOM, magic..).
    So, the idea then was
    - Perform in-place-upgrade
    - re-enroll certificate after upgrade
short answer... that didn't work out.
Before upgrading, I trained on a cloned system.
In the process of the upgrade, you HAVE to enter an Apple-ID (i.e. email address) to connect to the APNS ... that means it either is exactly the one you created the Push Certificate with in the first place, or you re-enroll or your devices - Apple gives a nice warning message during the process.
OK, gnashing teeth, I renamed the Apple-ID back to the original state and tried the in-place upgrade again, this time on the production server ... what should go wrong,  it worked out before on the clone (sans the certificate part) ... hhhm ... not this time. It seemed to be some problem with the Raid card. But hey, that's what Carbon Copy Cloner, psqldump and Timemachine are for, right?
    Wrong.
After the restore, my production machine came up fine, everything worked - except pushing anything to my devices.
So, technically I restored OS X Lion Server to a running state AND had 3 different means of backup, just in case (CCC, Timemachine, scripted DB dumps and OD dumps)  and still in the end, I had a bunch of devices that needed to be re-enrolled. Brilliant.
More gnashing teeth. Now, knowing I need to re-enroll anyway, I installed ML Server from scratch, created a new Push certificate (using [email protected].), re-entered ALL mobile devices, policies and groups by hand (oops, Apple dropped psqldump support in ML Server, there is no database import from prior versions..FRAK) and re-enrolled all devices, happy users assured.
And now the fun part: If you sign your mobile profiles (you know, that checkbox in Server App) for extra security, you need to take care of your Code Signing Certificates validity. You can renew this easily (one click, BOOM, magic).
The Code Signing Certificate is valid for 1 year.  If you renew this certificate, re-enrollment is mandatory.
    DOUBLE-FRAK.
So in the end, it didn't matter at all that I renamed my Apple-ID back and forth, it didn't matter that the in-place upgrade didn't work out and I had to do a clean install, there was actually no option of pulling this stunt without re-enrolling all devices, at least when the Code signing certificate were to expire.
Please Apple, FIX this. It can not be, that I have to re-enroll all my devices EVERY YEAR. Why are your certificates only valid one year? Why can't you design a convenient mechanism to renew all certificates and push them to the devices automatically?

  • Renewing Push Certificates?

    Hi,
For newstand apps - do push certificates need to be renewed? Does anyone have information on how to do this?
    Thank you.

    1. No, Apple does not send a notification. If your dev and dist p12 cents expire, your app will be rejected at some point in the submission process--I don't recall when. It might be while building the app. If you don't update your app, expired dev and dist certs don't matter. Users can still use your app as before. You can even submit an app with expired push certs and your app will work fine--except for push, of course.
    2. The distribution app in the store and on users' devices will still work if the distribution p12 is expired, but you'll need to update the cert before you resubmit a new version of the app. That's my understanding. An expired push production cert affects only push itself. If your push cert is expired, you'll get an error message when you click Notify. Users can still subscribe, download, and view articles regardless of push, but they won't get badges or background downloads.
    3. If your dev and dist p12 certs are expired, just update them before you submit a new version. You don't need to rush to do it. For the p12 push cert, I don't believe that you need to resubmit the app. I believe that if you revoke and rebuild the push certs, the change is registered with Apple, and you can click Notify without an error. I'll be testing this soon.

  • Revoking push certificate for lion server does not work

After reinstalling my Lion Server - based on a Mac Mini Server - I generated also a new Push Certificate since I changed a lot of names/config. Now I found that an older Push Certificate is shown as active althoug I allready revoked it. When I hit the Revoke Button besides that Certificate (that is shown as valid and active until 9-12) I get an error - allready revoked!? Does this harm my configuration and can I do anything to solve this problem?
    Thanks for any help/suggestions.
    Best,
    Torsten

The truth is, I shouldn't have posted this. Sorry. Late. Frustrated. I really just want it to work. I got Lion in hopes of learning how it worked. Now that I know it doesn't, I know not to recommend to my clients.
Apple should give up trying to "make believe" you can manage an Enterprise Network Server using a GUI. They have successfully proven it over and over. Lion is their coup d' gras of "Don't try this at home".
Now, I will search the forum for the answer, sure to discover that after a long, long, session in Terminal, using cryptic unix commands, I'll solve my problem.
That's all. It will be doubly frustrating, as I'll have to turn off the Server so I can even see the internet, to find answers, create pdf's of web pages, turn the server back on, and try to fix.
It is simply unacceptable. That's all.

  • Your Push Certificate has expired

    Hi
I created two push certificates both set to expire on Sep 5 2013 however when trying to send a notification I get the meesage "Your push certificate has expired. To upload a valid certificate, rebuild your app in Viewer Builder and retry sending the notification."
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I found that the process was slightly different for me than what was described in the guide. On my mac mini running lion it didn't put the certificate under the private key so I needed to select both the certificate and the private key and then export to p12.
    Hopefully this will help.

  • Push Certificate from Apple

I'm having problems getting my push certificate from apple.
When I try to log on to the identity.apple.com (apple push certificate portal) this message apeare:
The email address associated with your Apple ID must be vetted before you may acquire a certificate. Please check your inbox for a confirmation message and follow the instructions to confirm your email address.
But i have already verified my apple id.
It works if i use mye private apple id, but that's not an option.

Thanks.... I changed my profile email address to a @gmail.com account and was immediately able to retrieve my push cert.  Don't know why I didn't try that sooner.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Viewer builder / Push certificates failure

    hello DPS community,
I'm facing a quite bothering issue with the viewer builder : I'm unable to load my push certificates (both development and prod).
Following the guidelines of the Adobe Production Guide, here's what I do :
    1 - generate a CSR certificate
2 - generate the Devopment certificate and the p12 file
3 - generate the Production certificate and the p12 file
4 - generate the Push notification APS Production certificate and the APN Production p12 certificate
5 - generate the Push notification APS Development certificate and the APN Development p12 certificate
6 - generate the Development Mobileprovision certificate
7 - generate the Distribution Mobileprovision certificate
    My three questions are :
    > should I generate a CSR certificate for each and every step of the procedure ?
    > is the order of the procedure correct ?
    > is there a specific name under which the certificates have to be saved, in order to be correctly recognized by the viewer builder ?
I've scouting through the pages of the forum, and have seen this issue has been raised quite a few times... but couldn't find an answer !
    Any help welcome !
    (I'm running CS6 on Mac OS 10.7.4)

  • Apple push certificate

    Hi All
From server manager I went to hardware, then settings then clicked on "edit" on SSL certitificate.
From there I went to manage, so I could export the certificate, but I accidently clicked on the minus - symbol and it removed the certificate without any confirmation.
Now is the a way I can recover or find where the certificate went. The certificate was self signed and was being used for the Apple push certificates notification.
I am afraid that none of the ipads will work with the profile manager as the certificate is not there, and I dont want to re enroll the ipads to the server again.
Any help on this will be highly appreciated
