P2 Footage coming over dark

Recently, footage that I have been shooting on a Panasonic HVX with P2 cards has been transferring over as about a full stop darker than what I thought we shot.
Bummer for EPK interviews in darker rooms, where I'm shooting wide open. Blacks are just falling off a cliff.
I have to apply a color correct filter to bump back up the image. Which is fine, except it adds video grain. But the information is there.
I don't recall this being a huge issue, before. I'm wondering if this relates to the Gamma profile change in the latest OSX update?
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3712
It's really vexing. Anyone know anything?

Don't tell me you are judging ANY of this on the computer displays. Because that is not where you judge the actual quality of the footage. You need to have an HD capture card feeding a Broadcast HD monitor, or darn good HDTV...only THERE can you judge the quality of the footage. QT, FCP...those aren't designed to show you video colorspace...

  • Photos coming out darker with a white backdrop when taken outside

I am trying to take some photos of my product outside because the light seems to be better at picking up all the colors than when I've taken them inside but now when I'm taking the photos with the white backdrop they are coming out darker than when I had the backdrop painted lime green. I took the photos at 8am right when the sun had the  backdrop lite up the most I live in Florida for time zone questions. the other photos where taken at 9:30 and they came out a lot better but had a glare in them.should I go back and paint the backdrop green again or have any other ideas. PS I have adobe Photoshop elements 9. any idea on how to take out the glare in a photo when taken outside. and is their a website that can tell me when the best time is to take an outside photo in my region

think you for all you help but one thing im still confused about is northern light. does that mean to have the item placed to the south west to have the sun to the north of the item?
Northern light means that the only light falling on the product is coming from the North sky (in other words, your product is in the shade of the house).  Specifically for your speargun products, your setup will be like this:
Get a medium gray background larger than your spearguns.  This is especially important if some of the guns are camouflaged.  If you can't find a cloth backdrop from a photo supply house, look in some fabric stores.  If not, then get a couple of 30in. x 40in. sheets of matte board from an artist's supply store.
Place the product and background in the shade of your house, waiting until the shadow of the house is long enough so that your camera will also be in the shade.  (A side benefit is that you'll be cool. )
Put your camera on a tripod.
Set the camera and tripod in the middle of the speargun, moving the camera back until the complete speargun is in the picture when using a "normal" focal length lens.  You can slightly decrease the focal length to the wide angle setting if necessary to get the whole speargun in the picture, but be aware that the more wide your lens is, the more the product will be distorted.
At that point, you should be good to go.  Let the camera use its automatic everything to take the picture and it should look good.  If you want, you can also experiment with a couple of shots using flash as a fill-in light, but that might cause some glare off parts of the speargun.
The photos will have two things happening that slightly complicate matters:
Northern light will be bluish because the light source is the blue sky. That blue cast will be over the entire image, so you can quickly and easily use PSE to remove the blue cast because you won't have to select anything -- just remove the cast from the entire image.
Depending on what you use to support the speargun on the background, you might get shadows, etc., and want to then separate the speargun into its own image with a transparent background.  Using a gray background will make that process easier because selecting the gun will be a snap.
Hope that's not too much info to absorb....
    Ken
P.S.,  Depending on what the original colours are, you can easily use PSE to "pop" the colours before saving the images as PNGs for the Web.

We are noticing that the Unit of Measure for Infoset based query objects are not coming over with the base install of the SAP integration Kit. However, it does seem to work after fixpack 2. Can anyone confirm this?

    Hi Mark,
we had a separate thread on this already - or ?
for Universes on top of Web Intelligence it has been identified as an issue.
For Universes on top of InfoCubes it works fine.

  • Media/Stock name from an XMPie uStore product not coming over

Hi, I'm having some issues with a print file coming over from uStore to FreeFlow Core workflow to print to a 6180 Docuprint. The job is set to have page 1-2 on thick stock and 3-6 on thin stock all 2 sided. When it arrives at the 6180 it is recognizing sides printed and that there are 2 blocks of exception pages (1-2 and 3-6) unfortunately the stock for both show up as unspecified. I've made sure that the printer's stock library is matching the descriptive name in the JDF node setup in uStore. Nodes in uStore@DescriptiveName="Media Type Thick"@DescriptiveName="Media Type Thin" Names in the printer's stock library:Media Type ThickMedia Type Thin Should the uStore JDF node set have more entries so the the 6180 can properly ID the stock? Or is there a specific naming convention I should be using? Like say no spaces or capital letters?

By default, uStore includes JDF nodes for several paper types, folding and colour settings. These nodes are available when you set up JDF requirements in the Product Properties page. If your job includes additional requirements, such as printing on named stock, you need to create additional JDF node sets. To ensure that your product is printed according to the JDF specifications, make sure that you follow these steps:Create the required property in the Product Properties page.Create the new JDF Node Set. The JDF Node Set that you create is added to the list of options available when you set up JDF requirements in the Product Properties page. See To add new JDF node sets below.Create the new JDF Node. See Setting Up JDF Nodes below.Assign the required JDF Node set to the property options in the Product Properties pageTo add new JDF node sets:Select Presets>System Setup>JDF Node Set.On the JDF Node Set page, click Add New.In the Display Name box, enter a name for the node set. For example, if your product needs printing on SRFRed Stock, enter PrintOnSRFRedStock.Click Save. The Node Set is added to the list and is available in the Product Properties page when you set up customer input controls of the following types: Drop-down lists, radio buttons, and gallery/grid view lists. To make sure that uStore sends the correct information when it creates the JDF file, you need to set up the JDF Node with the required XML code.To add a new JDF node:Select Presets>System Setup>JDF Node.On the JDF Node page, click Add New.In the JDF Node Set ID list, select the JDF Node Set that you want to set up. For example, if you create a JDF Node Set for printing on SRFRed Stock, select the PrintOnSRFRedStock node set.In the Node XML box, enter the XML code for the new JDF node. For example, enter @ProductID="SRFRED".In the Node Target Xpath box, enter the location of node in the JDF file. For example, the Media attribute should be located at //ns:ResourcePool/ns:Media.Click Save. The new node set is added to the list. Every time a product includes this property option, the XML code will be added to the JDF file. For your reference, uStore saves all JDF files at \\[ServerName]\App\JDF. • Coming over from Avid to Premiere

Hi. I'm coming over from Avid which I really like. I've been cutting in it for years and am very fast at it.
There are things about how Avid Trims which are almost perfect.
Can anyone point me in the direction of good tutorials on how trim like it's it in Premiere CC?
    Thanks!

I also edited on an Avid for quiet a few years. Then I switched to Premier Pro - and have had no regrets at all.
Using the Trim Monitor in Premier Pro is one thing that certainly made coming over from Avid a lot easier for me.
This short video explains it fairly well -

    Hi,
When a Mac is "registered" for iMessages account with an Apple ID the Serial Number of the Mac is used to create an Auth Token as it is called for the Messages app that allows that Mac to work.
I would guess a similar process of linking the Number of the iPhone to a Hardware fact about the device is also in place.
I would contact Apple Support and check with them.  (you might need to speak to a Level 2 person as Level 1 people are script led and try to fit everything into Software or Hardware categories where as sorting and Apple ID (which the Number is in this case) is normally Free).
I did find this iOS: Troubleshooting Messages - Apple Support
It starts off about sorting SMS that is not working.
This one has a bit on Unlinking an iPhone Number (with or without the iPhone) iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support

  • HT4910 I just upgraded to 4s and when i backup my iCloud my apps and pics are not coming over?

I just upgraded to 4s and when i backup my iCloud my apps and pics are not coming over?

I'm assuming you have performed a restore from an icloud backup...
Many users have lost photos while preforming a restore from backup or upgrading the iOS.   Recall, only photos in the camera roll are backed up to iCloud.  There is a way to turn backups for camera roll on/off, perhaps these users had camera roll turned off.
    See:
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage,  tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream.  If you have been doing that, then you can sync those photos back to your device.
If you haven't been saving photos except relying on iCloud to store them in a backup, then that is risky, as many users have discovered.  I'm afraid I have no advice in this case - there is no "cure".
As for apps, you could always download them again from the itunes store, without charge.  Look for the link to purchased apps, there you'll have a list of the ones you can download free.

  • Coming over from the dark side.....many questions...Extreme and Express

My 1st apple product was the iPhone so now I believe!
Recently, I purchased an Airport Extreme 802.11n from eBay.
Question #1: Are there two versions of the Airport Extreme 802.11n? How do I know if I have the dual-band version? From the Airport Utility, I can choose the 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz band but not both. I can see that there is a "b/g" compatible mode but what does it mean if I choose the b/g compatible mode? It seems that I have the older 802.11n Airport Extreme model?
I also purchased a used Airport Express b/g model. I thought it was the "n" model because it looks like the "n" model (all white). I have a bad feeling that this does not have the WDS feature. If this is the case, does that mean I can't use this Airport Express to extend the Airport Extreme Base Station?
Can I use bridge mode wireless to extend the wireless signal in my home although I will have two wireless ID's in the home? Basically, with the Extreme and Express that I have now, can I set it up to extend wireless coverage in my home?
My Extreme is currently on 7.3.1 because 7.4.1 is not stable. My Windows pc's disconnects all the time.
    My Express is on 6.3.

Hello westladog. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Are there two versions of the Airport Extreme 802.11n?
There are actually three "versions." Here they are in "oldest" to "newest" order:
    o Non-Gigabit Ethernet (Part No. MA073LL/A)
o Gigabit Ethernet (Part No. MB053LL/A)
    o Dual-Band (Part No. MB763LL/A)
Based on your description, you have either the non-Gigabit or Gigabit version.
I can see that there is a "b/g" compatible mode but what does it mean if I choose the b/g compatible mode?
That would mean that your AirPort will support both 802.11n and 802.11b/g wireless clients simultaneously.
I also purchased a used Airport Express b/g model. I thought it was the "n" model because it looks like the "n" model (all white). I have a bad feeling that this does not have the WDS feature.
Both the newer 802.11n or older 802.11b/g versions of the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) support WDS ... so either could be used to extend the wireless range of your 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn).
Can I use bridge mode wireless to extend the wireless signal in my home although I will have two wireless ID's in the home?
With a WDS, you will only have one "wireless ID." The AirPorts use the term "Network Name." It is also known as a SSID.
Basically, with the Extreme and Express that I have now, can I set it up to extend wireless coverage in my home?
    Yes.

  • Prints From Epson Coming Out Dark/Orange Cast

    Hi,
I have an Epson PX710w and use Lightroom 2.4 64bit on Vista. I have putting out some prints over the last few days and have noticed that images with a lot of red in have been coming out slightly orange and all of them are darker than expected. Is there any reason for this? I have also tried printing through CS2 and have noticed a little improvement in the prints. I have also printed some of the images off on other printers with good results that match my monitor.
What I currently do in the Print module:
Colour Management: choose profile that matches printer and paper
    >
    Print properties >
    - Choose paper type
    - Colour Management > ICM > Off (No Colour Adjustment)
Then I go back and hit print...
    Any suggestions would be fantastic.

    I don't use a Colormunki..but what you say here
    kentmcpherson wrote:
In the calibration process, I have to turn my monitor Brightness control all the way to 0 to get to come close to what Colormunki wants.
I have to turn off the Enbale DDC Calibration function in the preferences or Colormunki sets my monitor so dark, I can barely see it.
sounds very strange. Usually when profiling a monitor and setting the luminance value (which is either called the brightness or backlight) control, you start from the brightest point the monitor will go to and then the device measures this and sets a recommended luminance value measured in cm2 (that is candles to the square meter) and you reset your monitor brightness until it matches the required value. Are you reading the instructions carefully as what you say here just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Setting the monitor to 0 (o what?) and saying the calibration device sets your monitor brightness (this will be done on the monitor controls not by a calibration device)
If you are also using the colomunki to make printer profiles I have heard of several serious problems with the device regarding this. I understand it makes icc v4 profiles and your printer drivers may use icc v 2...this will cause difficulties. You will usually be better using the canned profiles supplied by any paper manufacturer than attempting to make your own profiles with these cheaper end of the market devices in my experience.

  • Canon 7D footage color over saturated

    Hi
I just started using FCE to edit my Canon 7D footage and noticed that the color is over saturated, very red compare to when viewed in QT or the camera screen.
I am using a hi-end monitor with is calibrated.
The movies are imported to FCE using the import option. I never used FCE and used Premiere Pro in the past so I am not sure if it's the way I import the files or it's just the way FCE works.
    Any ideas, suggestion?
    Thanks
    Micha

I use a 5Dmk2. In the custom settings on the camera, I decrease saturation and contrast by two or three clicks. I then use Quicktime Pro to convert to Apple Intermediate Codec (1080i) to bring into FCE where you can edit these files without too much rendering and compression.
I find it easier to add contrast and saturation in post vs. trying to take it out. I think with Intermediate Codec being less compressed and more robust than H.264, you will get better color consistency. You can always try ProRes 422 into Premier and see if there's a difference. Unfortunately, FCE won't take ProRes or any 1080p, for that matter, and that's a real bummer.

  • Extending SAN&LAN over dark fiber (DWDM)?

Hi, sorry for my English, but I hope you understand me, and I understand your answers:)
We are in the process of adding new data center (DC2), which will be geographically located about 20 km from our existing data center (DC1). Between them laid dark fiber (two fibers). We need a solution for the LAN(layer 2) and SAN(native FC) extension ...
Solution is to see me use two passive EWDM-MUX8 at both ends of dark fiber with DWDM transceivers on the equipment in the DC1 & DC2.
For Ethernet, we propose to use Cisco 10GBASE DWDM X2 Modules (p/n:DWDM-X2-xx.xx =) - equipment at both ends supports these modules.
For FC we propose to use DWDM SFP Modules for Cisco ONS Family (p/n:ONS-SC-4G-xx.x =).
SAN equipment at both ends - Cisco MDS 9124 (p/n:DS-C9124AP-K9).
But I'm not entirely sure of the correctness of this decision, especially in SAN extension.
    Is this workable solution?
Does the Cisco MDS 9124 supports this transceivers (ONS-SC-4G-xx.x=)?
There are other potential pitfalls are not visible to me?
In advance, thanks for the advice.

For ethernet, your decision is correct.
For SAN, things get a little dicey. The MDS 9124 doesn't support the ONS transcievers, and the FC 4G LH transciever is limited in distance to about 10 km.
If it were me, I would do things a little differently. I would put a Nexus 5000 series at each end of your dark fiber, with a 20 GB etherchannel trunk between them. Each nexus would then be connected to your data center ethernet network via 10 gig ethernet, and to your MDS's via 2/4/8 gig FC. The nexus could then be set up such that FC traffic destined for the other end will be encapsulated in ethernet, sent over the link, unencapsulated at the other end, and sent to the appropriate FC host.
It's relatively easy, simple to operate, and no mucking around with DWDM/CWDM, which can be a very complex animal.

  • IPhone 4S to iPhone 5: Apps aren't coming over

Upgraded my wife's phone and my phone just now. She was coming from an iPhone 4 and I got everything up and running on her 5, all the data transferred over no problem.
Well... going from my 4S to my 5 hasn't been so easy. I did the normal "restore from backup" and the first time the phone froze upon restart. It would shut off after getting to the Apple logo, so I had to put it into DFU mode and tried again. No DFU mode needed the second time around, but the apps simply didn't come over. My camera roll and my text messages have come over, so I know it's doing at least a little bit of it right. I tried making a new backup of the 4S and restoring from that and still no luck.
I've had every iPhone since the 3G and this is my wife's third iPhone. I've done every transfer before and never had this problem.
Both phones are running iOS 6.
    Any thoughts?

    Is your phone jailbroken?

  • Coming over to the Creative Si

OK, I'm new to these forums and am coming from a history iPods (grr)
After A LOT of trouble with iPods, I decided that it was time to try something new.
Today I finally got a store credit back for my piece of junk ipod from Best Buy under the "no lemon policy"
THey were all out of the Zen Vision: M so I decided to order one and it should be arriving by the 4th. I bought a DLO case for it and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival. In the mean time I guess I will have to deal with the cut out that the case came from
Oh and for those of you who want the iPod story here it is.
Two years ago I started working (I was 4). It was summer when I started and at the end of the summer I had made about $450.00. I decided I wanted an mp3 player to play my music. I researched for about a month and it seemed that iPod was by far the best (at least then) so I went to Best Buy and picked up the 40g, 4g (click-wheel) iPod. I'm glad I had the sense to buy the 'Product Replacement Plan' that they offered.
I was very happy with it for 6 months and the hard dri've simply failed. This was weird because I never ran with it or really used it at all during activities that would bounce it around. I considered it a fluke and brought it back. They took a look at and decided it was broken.
Since the iPod Photo was out at the time and it actually cost less than what I had payed for my 4g iPod, I asked if I could get that instead. They allowed it so I walked out happily with my new iPod Photo and what I was TOLD (heavy emphasis there) was another replacement plan.
Over the next 6 months everything went well and I bought many accessories for my iPod (inMotion Speakers, IR Remote, iTrip, Cammera Connector). Then out of the blue one day I got the unhappy iPod face (bad hard dri've). I brought it in and they told me it was broken (gee, thanks for stating the obvious). When I asked about the replacement they told me that since I had a SERVICE PLAN not a REPLACEMENT PLAN. This meant that before I got a replacement it had to break and be repaired three times. Though it pissed me off, it seemed that I had no choice so I sent it out and got it back two weeks later.
It worked for two weeks before breaking again. I brought it in and they wouldn't send it out because they didn't think anything was wrong with it (problems were intermittant). I left unhappily.
About a week later I returned this time with pictures to prove it. They grudgingly sent it out and another two weeks later I got it back and get this, THEY HADN'T DONE A THING TO IT! They wouldn't count it towards my plan.
So by now I'm pretty sick of iPods. Two weeks later I bring it in again and talk to a manager. He was very nice (thanks Steve!) and counted the second time and sent it out for a third time.
One week later (we are up to the present now) I got it back and nothing had been done to it AGAIN. Remember this was the third time.
I broght it in AGAIN and asked for Steve (the guy who I'd talked to before) and he agreed to let me get a replacement (NOT an iPod thankfully)
I'm now happily without an iPod an awaiting my Zen Vision: M.
This is what made me choose my name for these forums. I hope none of you decide to buy an iPod now and hopefully, I have better luck with Creative Labs.
    Peace out!

    Welcome to the Creative side!
I refuse to buy an iPod! What's so special about a click wheel any way?

  • HP Photosmart Premium all-in-one C410a. The photos are coming out dark, what is happening?

The photos are dark. I am sending the photos wireless from my Toshiba Netbook NB205-N325BL with Window 7 Starter to my HP Photosmart Premium all-in-one C410a. The photos are dark when i send the photo from my iPhone 3Gs too. I have changed out the ink cartridges to see if that was the problem since the ink cartridges were low.
I have recently purchase this printer. I recently had a Photosmart All-in-one C7280 and was very happy with it until it stopped working with Win 7.
    Your help is appreciated.
    thank you,
    Paula

    Laura,
There are quite a few trouble shooting steps in my [FAQ|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2658560&tstart=0]. But to cut to the chase, first make sure you can run one of the Apps on the Printer and its getting content. Then make sure the firmware is the latest (Tools->Web->Automatic Updates->Check for Product Updates). Then power cycle everything (Router, Printer, iOS device). If it's still not working, more likely then not its a problem with your wireless router and Bonjour, so post back what brand of router you have, the model, and how your network is configured.
    Just trying to help.
    Andrew

  • I just got a new computer and I'm trying to sync my Ipod to the new computer not all of my items are coming over to the new computer

I'm having trouble getting all of my apps and photos to sync to the new computer and only about half of my music will copy over.  What am I missing?

It will only move "purchased" songs - i.e. those bought through the iTunes store. Anything that you loaded into iTunes from another source (CD, bought elsewhere, etc.) has to be either reloaded from that source, or brought over via iTunes "Home Sharing".
In my own experience, Home Sharing works the best - although it can take literally days, depending on how large your music/ap/movie library is on the original computer.
