P43 Neo alternative onboard sound driver

Hello again, after a long period of time!
Can anyone help me with an alternative onboard sound driver for my MSI P43 Neo? It has the Realtek ALC888 implementation and now I use the last MSI driver, from the site. I want something more customizable, for example a full customizable equalizer, not only presets. (Vista x64 and Win7 x64, please)
Thanks in advance.

Jack, I know precisely what we are talking about, but I preffere a customizable equalizer in the driver. And I'm not a PC music freak. I have other devices for listening the music. Anyway, the ALC888 on stereo is not so bad how certain people says. It is decent enough.
Henry, no, I don't have that screen. I have this:

My Soundblaster card is playing up and I am going to have to use onboard sound for the first time ever.  I just downloaded the latest Realtek ALC Series AC'97 Audio Drivers from the MSI website, but I was wondering before I install the drivers if there are any alternative drivers or if I have to use these ones?
    Any advice appreciated

  • 875 Neo FSR2 onboard sound

875 Neo FSR2 onboard sound, how does it compair with a SB Audigy in Quality , Performance and Compatibility. Seeing as i have this Board and this Card should i use them together or is the onboard sound better (If i had a nforce board id be using the soundstorm onboard sound as its better).
Anyone have any facts or opinions on this issue?

Believe it or not , The onboard sound on the 875 is pretty good
I agree. I did a test on the S/N on my board and came up with about 85 dB rms, which is pretty decent. But it won't compare to the Audigy - you'll probably see around 100 dB for that. My SB Live measures 95 dB.
I don't think you'll be able to use both Audigy and on-board sound at the same time. The BIOS won't let you.

  • P43 Neo F - no sound device

    I have a P43 Neo F board , XP  proffessional SP3
Recently my sound device (Realtek) has dissapeared and there is no sound in the computer.
In the Device Manager ther is a PCI device with yellow question (?) mark and no drivers installed.
Under Details of the PCI I have VEN_8086&DEV_3A3E&SUBSYS_75191462
From what I found  on the net this is a HD audio device - but I couldn't find drivers for it
I tried to install/update drivers - but the system doesn't find them.
Tried to reinstall Realtek driver - it didn't t change anything
Upgraded Intel drivers - no success
    Please help  !!!

Go to device manager, then expand "System Devices", and locate "MS UAA bus" Right click over it, then click "Disable".
    Reboot and enter in "Safe Mode", {hit "F8" just after bios post screen}
Once done go to device manager then expand "System Devices", and locate "MS UAA bus"  Right click over it, then click "Un-install".
Reboot PC, then run Realtek driver installation again.
    If problem persist use:
    >>> Unknown Devices 1.4.20 Beta with updated ID lists <<<
    Thanks Svet
    Still no solution ....
But I don't see any "MS UAA bus" under the System devices
What will be the effet of the "UKD_14-20_Beta_updated_july_08.exe " that you provided link to ?

  • K8T Neo-FIS2R onboard sound limitation?

Reading southmikes unofficial guide, it seems you can't use both onboard sound AND a PCI sound card (such as a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz).
Is this still correct with the 1.6 BIOS?  I want to use the microphone input on the motherboard, but the the TBSC for output.

It was fixed with BIOS v1.3. I use an SB Live! and the onboard sound card, too.
It was not driver dependent, the BIOS disabled the sound card that is behind the ISA bridge.
How can I say that? ISA bridge? There ain't no stinking ISA slot on this mobo!

The numbers are BB:DD.FF (BB - bus number, DD - device number, FF - function or subdevice) Function number 00 means it's a main device, function numbers other than 00 with the same
bus and device number is something on or behind the main device.
With BIOS v1.2 and lower, 00:11.05 was not in the list when the SB Live! was plugged in.
The BIOS disabled the device. Or did not keep the info about it - it's almost the same since
Linux also use the PCI BIOS calls to detect the devices. I did not try "direct" mode that
talks directly to the PCI bridge.

  • K8N Neo Platinum onboard sound, "My Microphone burned out"?

Ok is it possible that my Onboard sound mic burnt out?  Im using a USB headset. I had this board since it came out and love it. All of the sudden i have no mic. Im about to check the headset on another pc but is it possible for it to stop working? Might take me awhile to try on another pc but a quick answer would help.  The onboard sound is ok just i have no mic now.

I think it might be something with the board/drivers.
I have an k8n Diamond and my mic stops working from time to time.
I play css and am on ventrilo the same time and sometimes the mic just stops.
Doesnt work in verntrilo or css.
I shut down CSS (counter strike source) and mic is still dead.
So I close ventrilo and start css again and suddenly mic works again!
Its weird, seems like some compability issue.
I find I get less problems if I start the game before ventrilo. Start the game first and then alt-tab (if possible) and start ventrilo.
I had a k8n platinum before, never had any problems. But it broke so they gave me a k8n diamond on warranty instead, wicth is suppossed to be a better card?

  • K8T Neo / Disable onboard sound

Does anyone know how to disable the onboard Realtek sound through BIOS. I am about to install an Audigy 2 ZS Platnium and I don't want any conflicts. Thanks in advance for any help on this topic.

Make sure you uninstall any realtek sound drivers before you install the Audigy 2 ZS. You may want to run driver cleaner to ensure you eliminate the Realtek audio completely. Also, be sure you're not running an AV when you install the Creative drivers and software.

  • K8N NEO PLAT - Onboard sound problems

I got a really confusing problem, maybe one of you could help me with...
My brother has s754 k8n neo plat motherboard and he has always used the onbard sound controller. Yeasterday we formatted his computer, and did a fresh XP installation. Since then i cant get the sound to work properly, only if i put the headphones in the "blue" input instead of the green. The sound is very low but works there.....I installed the latest Realtek Audio driver from the MSI page. According to windows the sound works perfect, no driver issues reported or anything...The mp3's start playin but theres NO sound....
Could it be driver issue? Updated to the lates BIOS also btw.
    Appreciate all help, thx...

Hi, we are sailing on the same boat!
I am also facing the same problem recently with my K8n Neo4 Platinum Ultra. I have Win2K Pro, Win2K Server/ Win XP 2003 Server installed in my system.
I do not know, why such a typical problem exist with my system?
Any help from good techies shall be very useful.
    Thanks.

  • Neo 875P Onboard Sound Problem

I'm having problems getting surround sound to work on my MSI Neo 875P with my Logitech Z-640 speakers.  It only works in Morrowind and the during the SoundMAX control panel tests.  Not with media in Windows, and not in other games.
In other games it just seems like the output to the rear channels is really weak.  If you put your ear to it you can hear it, but it's not working as it should.
If I plug my front speakers into the rear channel port on my mobo, and then put the rear speakers in the front channel port (that is, switch their places), the front ones are all quiet and the back speakers play loud.
Thus, it is not the speakers which are messed up, it's the output coming from my mobo.  But it's configured to run in surround sound!  And surround sound does work in Morrowind!
    Any ideas?

I have a 865PE Neo2-FIS2R (MS-6728) with version 1.3 BIOS and I'm having the same problem.  I get sound from the rear speakers only from the Speaker Test in the C-Media 3D Audio Configuration program.
All other audio output only comes through the front speakers.  Winamp set to output to Direct Sound does not produce rear speaker sound either.
When doing the speaker test, there is also a crackle noise as it switches between speakers.
Speaker setting is 4CH; speakers are plugged into the on-board audio jacks; I've verified that everything is connected properly.  The speakers work fine as they work in the Speaker Test (and they worked fine with my previous machine and audio card).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers, both from the CD and from the website, with no change.
    Any suggestions?  :-)
    Thanks,

  • Which is better for framerate -- onboard sound or SBLive 5.1?

    Heya,
I have an SBLive 5.1 and I was just going to pitch it when I assembled my new rig with the K8T Neo.  But I read a review on HardOCP (here) and it said the onboard sound is incredibly CPU intensive and Q3 took a 21% (!) framerate hit with the onboard sound activated.
They go on to advise that one should use a PCI-based sound solution, but I'm sure they mean one of the newer SB Audigy-based cards and not my (old) SB Live...
So my question is this -- is the SB Live going to be better for gaming performance (framerate) than the K8T Neo's onboard sound?  I hate to have two sound systems on my PC (redundancies always seem to cause problems) but a 20% hit on gaming is unacceptable when I'm coughing up this cash for a supposedly "high end" solution.
    Thanks!
    Z

While it is true that onboard sound can have a major impact on game performance (~20%), what you may not realize is that adding a PCI based solution will not eliminate the entire performance hit.  In other words, even the most modern PCI based sound cards (Audigy 2, for example) do not completely eliminate the load which audio puts on a system.  To see an example of this, Tomshardware conducted a benchmark almost a year ago which compared the framerates of several sound solutions.
Note: the Realtek chip (ALC650 AC'97 Audio CODEC) used in the THG benchmark is an older version of the same integrated audio chip on the K8T Neo (ALC655 AC'97 Rev 2.3 Audio CODEC).  There may be a modest improvement in performance with the newer CODEC.
Now, concerning your soundcard: although your SB 5.1 Live! card may put more load on your system than a new Audigy 2 or Hercules card, it should certainly improve performance when compared to the on-board audio solution.  Sound quality should also improve (although if you have 6-channel speakers, you could only run 5 channels of audio).
The SB Live! series produced beastly little sound cards.  If you want to further improve sound quality (or need more audio channels), consider an inexpensive (~$40) Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.  Or, if you want to improve your gaming performance further, you could shell out ~$70-$100 and get a top-of-the-line OEM sound card.
In general, on-board audio blows.  You get what you pay for.

  • K8N Neo-FSR (MS7030) Onboard Sound Quality?

    Hi guys,
I'm appealing for any users of any of the varieties of MS7030 to come forward and help me here. Ever since I got my K8N Neo board it's onboard sound has been terrible. I'm not terribly fussy like some when it comes to audio, all other onboard sound I've ever used (and I've used many) including ones using the exact chipset I have on my motherboard sound fine to me so that suggests my motherboard is perhaps defective. The sound produced has very low amplification (even by onboard audio standards) and absolutely no lower frequencies/bass. I've tried many pairs of headphones and speakers but they all sound just as bad.
I've never been bothered to return it, but now that I'm selling up I'd like to have a 100% working motherboard to sell and it's still under warranty.
So, if you own a K8N Neo motherboard, or have heard audio from any (using the onboard sound) please let me know if they're all supposed to be terrible, or if... as I suspect, mine is faulty.
    Thanks in advance!
(BTW it is DEFINITELY not a driver problem, when I first got the board I must've tried every ALC850 driver known to man before resorting to buying an Audigy).

Hi, oooh a KT6 Delta user... I've owned one of those before... and not that it would likely make any difference, I used the back connector for the audio out.
Again I stress, the motherboard's output is correct, it's just not amplified to the standard which every single soundcard and onboard sound I've ever used seems to be, the amplification is too weak to produce good sound through headphones and can only be corrected through an stereo amplifier.
I've used MANY MANY MANY motherboards with onboard sound before... some even with the exact same ALC850 chipset on my MSI board and they ALL produce far better analogue output.
I don't have front audio jacks, unfortunately the shop I returned the motherboard to is still telling me it's fine, I might have to go in there and see if it's miraculously been fixed or if they're just tone deaf... *sigh*

  • [SOLVED] Very strange P43 Neo-F + sata drive problem in vista...

Well I'd been running Windows 7 flawlessly apart from a few non-related motherboard problems, so I decided to install Vista.
Basically my main OS drive (sata) is always detected, but then occasionally (more often than not) my secondary sata drives will simply not be listed in device manager once the system is booted up. Now, I've seen this problem before, and it was sorted by right clicking 'my computer' going to 'manage' and setting the drives up to be detected. But this simply isn't the case here. They don't appear anywhere!
It sometimes sorts itself out once I click 'Scan for hardware changes' in device manager and they magically appear as if ive just plugged in a USB device, which is fine I guess...but each time it swaps the damn drive letters around! So having media library's in Winamp, etc or putting a shortcut toolbar to my music on the taskbar is all but pointless!
All of my hardware apart from Bluetooth has drivers installed for it, and nothing seems to be conflicting at all. Does anyone have any idea why this is
happening? because in all my years of computing I've never seen something as strange as this...
As far as I  know I have the latest Intel INF drivers installed (9.0.0.1011)
    This is the board: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148024

I can't see how it'd be PSU because Win7 was just fine...but here it is...
    PSU: OCZ XStream 600W PSU
    100~240Vac 10-5A 50/60Hz
    +3.3V(36A), +5V(30A), +12V1(18A), +12V2(18A), +12V3(18A), +12V4(18A)
    Specs:
    Dual Core E5200 2.5GHz
    4GB Corsair RAM + 2GB OCZ RAM
    nVidia GeForce 9600 GT
    MSI P43 Neo-F
Not detected (at Vista startup) drives:
    Hitachi HDP725050GLA360
    ST3320620AS
(they show up perfectly fine in DOS, but I remember only the drive below appeared during Vista setup drive options...)
    Detected Primary OS drive:
    WDC WD800JD-00LUA0
My drives in BIOS are set to IDE mode (which has always been fine for me in the past). I set it to AHCI Mode to check if it boots but it just sticks on the same screen (flashing underscore). I'm sure it's driver related but I'm totally out of options now...you'd think installing the ones provided on the MSI site would get it working... :/
Another thing is under 'Storage Controllers' in device manager, there is only an IDE Controller. I'm sure there should be a SATA one there, too?

  • Disabling onboard sound on K8T Neo?

    Hello,
I'm probably being really stupid here but I just can't seem to find the BIOS setting to disable the onboard sound. Can't find it on any of the BIOS pages, can't find it in the manual and there doesn't seem to be a dipswitch on the board itself.
    Anyone?
    TIA

I must have looked through that menu 20 times and not noticed the submenu. Cos it's in yellow rather than white I read it as a title rather than a menu item.
    I am stupid. Cheers.

  • MSI K8T NEO Onboard Sound

I have heard the onboard sound is pretty terrible on this board. Is it really that bad? Should I stick with it or buy a sound card?
And if it is bad...is a SoundBlaster Live 5.1 a good card to go with? How different is it from the Audigy?
