P6 Analytics R1 &  OBI (Business Intelligence)

Hi,
I was looking at P6 Analytics R1, that was released some months ago to improve the data analysis of PMDB databases. Did we realize that this package is intended to be used with an exisiting OBI instance?
So if the OBI is already in place we could use the package as a FastTrack for OBI on P6. If there is not an existing OBI instance we should consider to buy that and also plan expenses for implementation.
In my honest opinion, putting P6 Analytics within Primavera applications is not correct . It should be at most an add on to OBI and so it should appear within the OBI application packages.

Hi,
are you sure you get working P6 Analytics R1 only with Reporting Database R2?
Pag 23 of P6ReportingDatabaseAdminGuide.pdf document.
Overview of P6 Analytics
P6 Analytics provides an in-depth and comprehensive method for analyzing and evaluating project performance, project history, resource assignments and utilization.
Built upon the Oracle Business Intelligence suite (Dashboards and Answers), P6 Analytics delivers a catalog of Dashboards and Answers requests that provide an interactive way of viewing, analyzing, and evaluating Project Management data. In addition, P6 Analytics provides a Repository (RPD) file which contains the data mappings between the physical data and the presentation layer of OBI.
The dashboards provide detailed insight into your Project Management data, through the use of analytical charts, tables, and graphics. Dashboards have the ability to navigate to other requests, to provide precise root cause analysis. In Addition, you can configure individual requests with the P6 Action Link, which enables you to navigate directly to your P6 Web Access site for true “Insight to Action” capabilities. Reports created with Oracle BI Answers can be saved in the Oracle BI Presentation Catalog, and can be integrated into any Oracle BI home page or dashboard. Results can be enhanced through options such as charting, result layout, calculation, and drilldown features.
P6 Analytics provides an RPD file to be used with the Oracle Business Intelligence suite. The RPD file contains:
■A physical representation of the Star schema
■A business layer where customized calculations are performed
■A presentation layer that groups all of the Star database fields into logical subject areas.
The RPD delivers an extensive amount of Earned Value, Costs, Units, Percent Completes, and other key performance indicators. It enables data to be sliced by items such as time, project, eps, portfolios, activities, and resources.
No need of OBI?

  • Business Intelligence related Question - R12

    Hi All,
We are moving to R12 soon, and right now use Discoverer Reports, BI Publisher Reports, RDF Reports and an in-house built data warehousing tool which we want to get rid of due to maintenance overhead. Moving to R12, we would like to have one tool where we can consolidate all our reporting in.
Is there BI tool that comes as part of R12, that can be used for reporting? We also might use OBIEE, which I think is a seperately licensed product.
    Do you have any sugegstions?
    Thanks in advance.

Some of the DBI (Daily Business Intelligence) stuff still works, I think, but I can't speak for how well the various dashboards have been maintained between 11i and R12. Oracle's preferred direction is seems to be for customers to use the OBIA (Business Intelligence Applications) product instead for pre-built Apps business intelligence (http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/ent-performance-bi/bi-applications-066544.html#erp) . And, of course, if you want to roll your own, there's OBIEE: http://www.oracle.com/us/solutions/ent-performance-bi/enterprise-edition-066546.html .

  • Issue in ATG integration with Oracle Business Intelligence

    Hello,
I am setting Oracel Business Intelligence up for Oracle ATG 10.1.
I am using CRS application to populate data to Data warehouse schema. I can see all components like generating log files, loading log file in to database are working file. I can see data in DW schema. I am using completely ATG's default implementation; I have not made any customization so far.
    Here is environment details:
    OS : Windows 7 (64 bit)
    ATG : 10.1
    JBoss : jboss-eap-5.1
    JDK : 1.6.0_25-b06
Database: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
Oracle Business Intelligence : Oracle BI EE 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5)
Used ofm_rcu_win_11.1.1.5.0 tool for creating OBI DB schema.
I am getting below exception if I access Report in OBI.

    Hello Andrew,
1.) DW schema in Oracle (‘Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production’).
2.) This is for every ATG's analysis. I have not authored anything custom.
I am sure connection information is correct in ATG.RPD file. I used to get different error like incorrect login or unable to connect if it was wrong and those are no more, So I
believe connection URL is correct. I am not sure if need disable/enable something or do some specific configuration in DB connection in ATG.RPD.
    Thanks,
    Mukesh

  • E-Business Suite Integration with Oracle Business Intelligence

    Hi,
To integrate E-Business Suite with Oracle Business Intelligence I have done all the configurations as specified in DocId. *552735.1* of Metalink. I have tested the configurations by logging in from EBS and navigating to OBIEE Presentation Services. I'm able to navigate with no errors but not able to view Subject Areas in the Answers link. I'm testing this with 'Administrator' user. When I directly login to Presentation Serivices with the Administrator user I'm able to see the Subject Areas.
Can anyone have idea what is the problem?
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi,
Think I spotted the problem - probably specific to OBIA 7.9.5.
There is no "Authorization" initialization block: in previous incarnations (e.g. OBIA 7.9.4 and earlier I guess) there was a FndGetResp intialization block that assigned a value to the OBIEE "GROUP" system variable.
So I did the following and now I'm getting Subject Areas and Answers answers, but Dashboards still not working for me - maybe another issue.
    1. Create system variable GROUP, temporarily with initialization block "Authentication"
    2. Create initialization block "EBS Responsibility to Group" with query (note I've modified based on new session variable name RESP_ID goes to OLTP_EBS_RESP_ID in 7.9.5):
    SELECT RESPONSIBILITY_KEY
    FROM FND_RESPONSIBILITY
    WHERE RESPONSIBILITY_ID = 'valueof(NQ_SESSION.OLTP_EBS_RESP_ID)'
Set the execution precendence to include EBS Security Context and EBS Single Sign-On Integration
NB: Had to create dummy variable GROUP_TMP for the "OK" button to come up, will replace that with real GROUP in next steps
    3. Go back and edit System variable GROUP and change initialization block to EBS Responsibility to Group
    4. Go back and edit initialization block EBS Responsibility to Group and remove variable GROUP_TMP
    5. Created an OBIEE Group with name = responsibility key e.g. for my "SBA Administrator" responsibility, key = "SBA_ADMIN_KEY", so I created group named "SBA_ADMIN_KEY"
    6. Made your new group (e.g. SBA_ADMIN_KEY) a member of the Administrators Group
    7. Copy across rpd and restart sa / saw
Still awaiting response from Oracle Support ... so no guarantees this is correct and no guarantees that it won't break something else that Oracle suggests later!

    Gareth

  • Need help in Customization in Oracle Business Intelligence.

    Hi Guru,
I am working on ODI to customize Oracle Business Intelligence ( Category 1 and Category 2 Customization ). I need comprehensive / detail documentation on "OBI Customization" and "RPD Modification" . Kindly help and advice.
    I use OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 and ODI 11.1.1.7.0.
    Thanks

    Hello Arshad,
Thanks for signing you post. It would be easier if you changed your forum handle to your name for communication purposes.
So I did understand you correctly Ijust wasn't aware that Oracle still uses this somewhat arbitrary wording. Anyways as I said you're looking for a How-To on customizing Oracle BI Applications which means learning how to work with OBIEE and how to work with ODI.
To have and read the documentation isn't bad - the new one is here by the way: Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Documentation - but places like the Learning Library I posted are a good place as well since your questions are potentially very vast.
In general for what you call Cat1 changes it's all about
    - finding the source of your new column in a source system or calculating it in the ELT if it is a derived column
    - adding it to your physical schema of the target database
    - adjusting your ELT processes to fill it
    - import the new column into the RPD physical layer or create it manually
    - map it to a new logical column in a logical table in the business model
    - expose it in the presentation layer
Cat2 is more of the same but you also need to integrate it into your physical model (both actual physical model in the database and the physical model metadata of the RPD) in terms of joins etc and your ELT-work becomes a lot more extensive (table construction, key resolution, SCDing, partitioning, indexing,..........).
As you can see there's a lot of things to cover so we can't just "give you an answer". You're basically touching topics which take time to learn and assimilate and to just jump in and start doing isn't necesssarily somehting I'd suggest. Best take a training course on OBIA since otherwise you may implicitely "just do" things because you were told so in here or by someone and you'll never see and be able to comprehend the underlying concepts and techniques.

  • Oracle Business Intelligence is not supported on this Windows version

    Hi Guys,
I uninstalled OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 and OBIA 7.9.6.1 and after that i did disk cleanup from Start->Accessories->System Tools-> Disk Cleanup.
And after that when i tried to Install OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 i got the following error.
Oracle Business Intelligence is not supported on this Windows version. Oracle Business Intelligence is only supported on Windows XP x86, Windows 2003 x86, Windows 2003 AMD64, Windows 2003 EM64T, Windows Vista x86, Windows Vista AMD64, Windows Vista EM64T, and Windows 2000 x86.
But my machine is Windows XP x86 and I have installed OBIEE. I was surprised when i saw this error.
In Run-> CMD when I type Systeminfo i get the following error.
    Loading Network Card Information...
    ERROR: Provider Load Failure.
I would appreciate if any one of you can let me know what could be the problem.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Daan,
I belive we all shoud consider http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=939
I get upset to see people on this forum who answer the questions like *'use google'* or *'let me google it for you'* or *'use this forum filter'*
I belive it is better to help them answer a better question or if you don't like the question ignore it.
    Hi user10511107,
I belive your problem is with Windows not with BI, BI just can't get windows version,
If you are on right version of windows go to MSDN and search for your error and how to fix it
    ERROR: Provider Load Failure.

  • Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition 1 download?

    Hi,
Apologies in advance if this is a daft question but could someone point me in the direction of the download link for Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition 1 11G for Windows 64bit?
The white paper below dated 2010 eludes to there being an 11g version of this software but the download site only has 10g:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/obi-se1-11g-wp-187262.pdf
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/101321biseone-095993.html
I downloaded the Enterprise edition 11g in the vain hope that the installer would have an option for installing standard edition 1, which it didn't.
This is a stupid problem to have but a problem nonetheless.
    All help gratefully received.
    David.

Am I correct in saying that the Simple Install is Standard Edition 1? It doesn't say that anywhere (unless I'm missing it).Simple install is like a standard installation, less input is required from you.
Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition 10g docs/downloads can be found at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-standard-edition/downloads/index.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-standard-edition/overview/index.html
From http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/obi-se1-11g-wp-187262.pdf you can see the following:
The 10g version of BI SE One included a special installer and documentation tailored to the specific components that were available in 10g. For the 11g version of BI products, Oracle does not plan to release a special installer for BI SE One.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Fixed Issues in Oracle Business Intelligence Suite

    Hi,
I've spent quite a while searching for a list of known issues that have been fixed with Oracle Business Intelligence Suite (compared to Siebel Analytics 7.8.x). Anybody aware of such a document?
    Thanks,
    Andi

I for one haven't seen any such list. I was also looking for a list like that for the latest release, going from OBIEE 10.1.3.2 to 10.1.3.2.1but with no luck.
    Anyone seen these?

  • Can Oracle Apps OFA and Business Intelligence Suite be integrated?

    Hi,
Is it possible to integrate Oracle Applications' "Oracle Financial Analyzer" and "Oracle Business Intelligence Suite" into Oracle Portal at all?
I know they are all web enabled products using HTML, Disco viewer and Oracle Reports, and I'm pretty certain I've seen a demo of OBIS working from Portal already somewhere.
I want to put Larry's Daily Business Close into practice!!
I need an urgent answer on this please...
    John

Hi I looked at this last year with the add of an Oracle Express consultant in the UK, we had an express 6.3 implementation of OFA and 1.0.2.2 of 9iAS. The problem was how get a dynamic implemention OFA within a portlet. At the time the only conclusion was to host the web enabled OFA within an iFrame portlet, this however had its own problems due to the timeout settings within Express Server causing hanging sessions, requiring administrator rectification and the user having to close and restart the portal session. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT. It may be implementable now but I doubt it.
