Package api.jar in WebLogic 10.3

Hi,
in Oracle WebLogic 10.3 (windows xp release) the package api.jar in WL_HOME\wlserver_10.3\server\lib is just 1 kb and has no classes inside (just a META-INF directory).
Is this a bug in weblogic installation because in WebLogic 10.0 the api.jar is about 1 mb and has all the servlet classes etc. inside?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
- Stephan

You stopped too soon, open the META-INF directory and the MANIFEST.MF file to see which jar files are referenced.
In the 8.1 world, you could use weblogic.jar for client applications and all the classes you need were in one place.
In the 10.3 world, the server has been modularized into many different pieces. However, you can build a complete jar called the wlfullclient.jar using a tool called JarBuilder that works much like the way the 8.1 world works. Please reference the following 2 links:

  • WTC, wls-api.jar, weblogic.wtc.gwt.*, missing classes ?!

    Hi WLS fans,
    I've installed WLS 10.3 and I've tried to migrate WLS 8.1 App to WLS 10.3 via Workshop.
    I was supprised NOT to find the classes: TuxedoConnection, TuxedoConnectionFactory and all the rest needed classes to compile the code, in the wls-api.jar, weblogic.wtc.gwt
    package .
    WLS-ARI.JAR,  weblogic.wtc.gwt package_ (in WL_HOME\server\lib)
    I've realized that till v. 9, the package contained these classes.
    Since v. 10, the pachage contains ONLY one class: genpasswd. And there are a lot of missing classes/interfaces from the weblogic.wtc.jatmipackage as well.
    Could somebody tell me where are the other needed classes ? Have they been moved to some other package ?
    Have the WTC EJB logic been modified ?
    I use this code:
    {color:#0000ff}import weblogic.wtc.gwt.*;
    import weblogic.wtc.jatmi.*;
    TuxedoConnection myTux;
    TypedString myData;
    Reply myRtn = myTux.tpcall("MyTuxService", myData, 0); {color}
    //etc.

    Hi, George.
    From weblogic 10 onwards, weblogic transitively includes jars in the BEA_HOME/modules directory. The jar you are looking for is:
    modules/com.bea.core.jatmi_1.0.1.0.jar

  • Override Spring jar in Weblogic 12c

    Hi Folks,
    We have been facing an issue while overriding the Spring jar in Weblogic 12c. Basically we need to write a bean based on some 3rd party API calling their interfaces. Now they use Spring 2.5 jar for their own implementation. Since Weblogic inherently supports Spring 3.0 jar. As a result when we write our bean wrapping their interfaces and deploy it, it doesn't work. We replicated the issue by replacing Spring 2.5 jar with Spring 3 in local environment.
    If we modify the server classpath to load the Spring 2.5 jar (preceding Spring 3.0), entire soa-infra application goes down, so what We wanted to know if it is possible to override the Spring jar only for our application itself? While loading the application it will override the Spring 3.0 jar with Spring 2.5 in the application context but server will keep using Spring 3.0?
    Any ideas/suggestions highly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Bhaskar

    Hi Bhaskar,
    have you tried packing the Spring libraries in your application and using the Filterring Classloader? Maybe this links can help you :

  • Using apllication jars before weblogic ones

    Hi,
    we have an old j2ee application based on ADF (version 10.1.3)/TopLink
    and need to deploy it on WebLogic (10.3.6). After many trials and errors we
    were successfull, but this action was needed - removing library
    com.oracle.toplink_1.1.0.0_11-1-1-6-0.jar from weblogic. We were not able
    to make our apllication's library toplink.jar (in WEB-INF\lib) be used first.
    We tried to modify weblogic.xml on Weblogic server
    <container-descriptor>
    *<prefer-web-inf-classes>true</prefer-web-inf-classes>*
    </container-descriptor>
    , tried to deploy our apllication via ear instead of war with
    META-INF\weblogic-application.xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <weblogic-application xmlns="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/90">
    <application-param>
    <param-name>webapp.encoding.default</param-name>
    <param-value>UTF-8</param-value>
    </application-param>
    <prefer-application-packages>
    <package-name>oracle.toplink.tools.*</package-name>
    </prefer-application-packages>
    </weblogic-application>
    But application still reports
    java.lang.VerifyError: (class: oracle/toplink/tools/sessionmanagement/SessionManager, method: getWASSession signature: (Loracle/toplink/tools/sessionconfiguration/WASXMLSessionConfigLoader;Ljava/lang/ClassLoader;)Loracle/toplink/publicinterface/Session;) Wrong return type in fu...
    which means, that still WebLogic version of toplink library is used before application one...
    Do you have any other idea, what we must to do ? Thanks

    Hi,
    What you've tried doing is inducing a filtering classloader..
    Have you ensured to add the dependency toplink library in the APP-INF/lib directory ?
    As you have set the filtering classloader in the weblogic-application.xml file
    If you've set filtering classloader in weblogic.xml, you need to add the dependency library under web-inf/lib directory.
    Hope this helps!!
    Also share the complete stacktrace of the error if the issue still persists...
    Thanks,
    Vijaya

  • Can anyone tell me which jar contain weblogic.jws.WLJmsTransport class

    Hi All,
    Can anyone tell me which jar contain weblogic.jws.WLJmsTransport class
    Thanks in advance?

    Hi,
    You can find that in the "*weblogic.jar*", "*wls-api.jar*" and "*wseeclient.jar*" which can be found in the below directory
    Path:
    wlserver_10.3/server/lib/
    Also you can have a look at the below link which shows you how to find any CLASS present inside your file system.

  • Api.jar file

    I recently downloaded weblogic/oracle 10.3.1 server, installed it and went to create an application. However, the
    api.jar file was only 5xx bytes in size. When I did a tvf on it, all that was in it was the Manifest.MF. What happened
    to all the classes that are supposed to be in there?
    John

    Use personal.jar located in lib directory.

    I thought you were getting a class cast exception but the stack trace shows
    a NullPointerException on line 38 of your servlet code. I am not sure if the
    code that you have attached is the complete code or just snippets of your
    complete code. Anyways, counting 38 lines in the code you attached points to
    the line "mr =
    mh.create(request.getParameter("login"),request.getParameter("name"));"
    which could be because "mh" is null. Can you verify "mh" is not null and
    also "objRef" is not null.
    Attaching the stack trace for ClassCastException would be useful.

  • I FOUND : servlet-api.jar ...WHERE insert it to can compile SERVLETS

    I FOUND : servlet-api.jar in TOMCAT 6
    WHERE insert it to can compile SERVLETS ?
    where added(directory), some folders follow...?
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_15\bin
    C:\Sun\AppServer\lib
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_15\src\javax

    You can use any of the following methods:
    i) SET CLASSPATH variable with absolute path of your servlet-api.jar and then compile your servlet from any folder.
    ii)you can use
    C:\jdk\bin>javac -cp C:\tomcat\lib\servlet-api.jar SampleServlet.javaand after comilation put the compiled java class file to classes folder of you web application.
    [Obviously if you have any package, then you need to maintaing that folder structure inside classes folder]
    Here I assumed your javac is available at C:\jdk\bin folder and servlet-api.jar is available at C:\tomcat\lib folder

  • I need to install servlet-api.jar in the libext folder.

    Hi I am doing a tutorial on struts 2.0.11.
    i need to install servlet-api.jar in the libext folder which I have created inside WEB-INF
    Now I have downloaded servlet.api which is in the zip form.
    When I extract the files. Its giving me two folders
    1. javax
    2. META-INF
    Inside javax there is a folder called servlet. Inside servlet folder there are
    a) bunch of call files
    b) http folder
    c) resources folder
    Inside http folder there are
    a) class files
    b) properties files
    Inside the resources folder there are
    a) dtd files
    b) xsd files
    Inside the META-INF folder there is the manifest.mf file
    I just need servlet-api.jar
    I think that I have extracted the contents of servlet-api.jar by using the extract feature of winzip.
    Do you think that by just changing the extension of the file from servlet-api.zip to servlet-api.jar it will do the trick or do i need to do something else.
    Please guide

    Hi ^^,
    your replies were very helpful. I did try to check the lib folder of the webserver and there was not servlet-api.jar. However I downloaded a dummy project and it did have servlet-api.jar in it, so I am ok for now.
    thanks and regards,
    PrashantYou should not be doing that. Always use the one from the application server which you're going to use. Otherwise you will possibly get in runtime trouble due to version differences.
    The actual location and filename of the servlet API might differ per application server implementation. If it was for example Tomcat 6, it is the servlet-api.jar in the /lib directory. If it was for example Glassfish (the current release), then it is the javaee.jar in the /lib directory.

  • Problem in using Tomahawk 1.1.3 jar with jsf-api.jar & jsf-impl.jar

    Hi All,
    i am facing the problem while using <t:panelTabbedPane> in jsp.APplication has jsf-api.jar and jsf-impl.jar and Tomahawk 1.1.3 jar files in lib folder. This is a Portal Application.While deplyoing on portal server, i am getting following exception
    Nested Exception is java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/servlet/jsp/el/ELException
    at org.apache.myfaces.shared_tomahawk.config.MyfacesConfig.<clinit>(MyfacesConfig.java:80).
    if any faces problem previously, please help me out in debugging this issue

    Please don't resurrect old topics. Start a new topic for each stand alone question. If necessary put links to the topics you found with search/google.
    Back to the actual problem:java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/servlet/jsp/el/ELException The given class is missing in the classpath during runtime. Add that class, or at least the JAR file with that class, to the classpath of the runtime environment, then you're fine.

  • Reload a jar in weblogic server without restart

    Hi All,
    We are using weblogic version '10.0.1.0' and have 'reports.jar' file in server for reports.
    If we change any existing class file under 'reports.jar' then we are using below steps in order to recognize a modified jar by weblogic
    1) We need to recreate a jar using eclipse in local IDE and
    2) Copy the 'reports.jar' into server
    3) Need to restart server inorder to recognize the modified jar
    Is there any alternative solution to reload a jar in weblogic server without restart?
    Please do the needful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Gangadhar

    Hi,
    If this is for weblogic running on development mode, then you can go for auto-deployment feature where weblogic will auto-deploy modified application from autodeploy directory.
    For production mode, you can go for production-redeployment feature of weblogic where it uses application versioning. So for example you deployed webapp1 with version app1.0 and then for new release you will deploy webapp1 with version app2.0 adding a retirement policy to retire old application after said time and start using webapp1 with app2.0.
    Refer to link for mode detail - http://middlewaresupport.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/production-redeployment-feature-in-weblogic/
    rank it if found useful

  • 26.4 Basing an entity Object on a PL/SQL Package API - Ref Cursor, no View

    I am hoping that I could get some help in the details of a problem. I am trying to follow the directions in the Oracle Application Development Framework Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers, Section 26.4 - Basing an Entity Object on a PL/SQL Package API.
    There is example code in the downloadable AdvancedEntityExamples - EntityWrappingPL/SQLPackage
    The question is, how will the implementation change if the entity is based entirely on PL/SQL - simply stated - no view is available, just ref cursors and insert,update,delete procedures.
    In the example code, there are two procedures, lock_product and select_product. This is where things get more complicated. I can create a function to return a single record ref cursor, instead of the list of OUT variables defined in both functions (select_product and lock_product). It makes sense that I just return one cursor and get all of the columns from that instead of lots of OUT variables.
    So what's stopping me you may ask... There is one difference between select_product and select_lock. Select_lock has a select that includes "FOR UPDATE NOWAIT". I don't have that as an option when creating my ref cursor. I am not sure what the impact of "FOR UPDATE NOWAIT" is? Can I ignore it?
    In the problem I am working with, (getting data from Oracle Portal 10.1.4) I return the following:
    function getRefCursor return ref_cursor is
    v_tab wwsbr_all_items_object_type := wwsbr_all_items_object_type();
    p_recordset wwsbr_types.cursor_type;
    l_results wwsrc_api.items_result_array_type;
    begin
    wwctx_api.set_context(<username>,<password>);
    l_results := wwsrc_api.item_search(.. parameters..);
    <snip>
    ... Loop through the objects and populate v_tab
    <snip>
    open p_recordset for
    select * from table(cast(v_tab as wwsbr_all_items_object_type));
    return p_recordset;
    end getRefCursor;
    With this sample, it would be easy to return a single row by passing the masterid as a parameter.
    So I am still left with, how should the implementation of callLockProcedureAndCheckForRowInconsistency() and callSelectProcedure() be changed in order to use a ref cursor instead of a view? The user guide was missing that extra section <bg>.
    What would be REALLY helpful, is an example, say 26.4A that demonstrates creating an entity object from a ref cursor and procedures from PL/SQL only without a view.
    Thank you, Ken

    The lock procedure is expected to obtain a row-level lock on the row, given its key.
    Depending on the setting of jbo.locking.mode, the entity object's lock() method will be invoked either as soon as the first persistent attribute is successfully modified by the user (in the case of jbo.locking.mode=pessimistic), or it will be called during commit processing just before the row is updated in the database (with jbo.locking.mode=optimistic).
    Usually 2-tier Swing applications use pessimistic mode, while web applications use optimistic mode.
    The FOR UPDATE NOWAIT is the Oracle clause that can be appened to a SELECT statement to acquire a row-level lock on the selected rows. The NOWAIT modifier means that rather than hanging, waiting for a row locked by another user to free up, it will raise an exception if any of the rows being selected-and-locked are not available to lock.
    If you're not able to work the FOR UPDATE NOWAIT into the syntax of the ref cursor, perhaps you can initially perform the lock using a different cursor inside the stored procedure, then return your ref cursor.

  • SimpleCallbackHandler no longer in weblogic.jar for WebLogic 10.3g

    I was using the weblogic.security.SimpleCallbackHandler in WebLogic 9.2 to authenticate users. I looked at the documentation for 10.3g and it still mentions this class is available, however it is not in the weblogic.jar file nor in the javadocs. Here is the URL where I was looking. http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs103/security/thin_client.html#wp1035574.
    The only CallbackHandler in the 10.3g release seems to be the weblogic.security.URLCallbackHandler class. I tried replacing the SimpleCallbackHandler with this class. When I put the weblogic.jar in my classpath and build, I get the following error.
    class file for weblogic.security.acl.internal.AuthenticatedSubject not found
    ServletAuthentication.runAs(mySubject, request);
    Indeed, this class is not in the weblogic.jar file. Both SimpleCallbackHandler and AuthenticatedSubject were in the weblogic.jar for WebLogic 9.2
    <code>
    import javax.security.auth.Subject;
    import weblogic.security.SimpleCallbackHandler;
    import weblogic.security.services.Authentication;
    public ActionForward execute(ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form, HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws Exception {
    LoginForm loginForm = (LoginForm) form;
    Subject subject = Authentication.login(new SimpleCallbackHandler(loginForm.getUsername(), loginForm.getPassword().getBytes()));
    weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication.runAs(subject, request);
    <./code>
    Why were these removed and not deprecated???

    SimpleCallbackHandler does not exist in weblogic.jar. Used the following code to get around this. WebLogic documentation offers this as an alternative to using SimpleCallbackHandler.
    Subject subject = Authentication.login(new URLCallbackHandler(uid, pwd));
    weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication.runAs(subject, request);
    This code agrees with the snippet provided in WebLogic documentation
    Project does not compile with the following error:
    Project: C:\apps\11g\PrismMainApp\ViewController\ViewController.jpr
    C:\apps\11g\PrismMainApp\ViewController\src\adr\prismmain\view\managed\PrismLogin.java
    Error(70,28): cannot access weblogic.security.acl.internal.AuthenticatedSubject
