I know that abs can make packages using svn/git/etc to be installed by pacman, but will pacman auto-magically update these svn packages when it's installing updates from the "normal" arch repos, or is that something I would still have to do myself?

according to the size of ABAP in the [https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/codex/projects|CodeExchange Project Directory Tag cloud] most of the Projects are ABAP based. Some of them like Twibap, ABAP JSON and ABAP OAuth depend on each other. That is also the case if you want to install packages using [SAPLink|http://code.google.com/p/saplink/], then you need in the most of the cases some [Plugin|http://code.google.com/p/saplink/wiki/pluginList] installed. That can be sometimes very cumbersome.
As a user of Perl, PHP and Ruby I was using their package management systems like CPAN, Pear and Gems. They provide an easy command line interface to install and update packages. In addition they take care about dependencies.
I think it's time to start working on a Package Management for CodeExchange ABAP projects. Let's call it ABAP Package Management (APM). SAPLink providing the container to exchange the package and ZAKE to handle the download and install can be a good starting point.
Let's discuss the problem space here and perhaps we also can involve someone who has perhaps already some experience in building a package management system.

an XML file to be included into the nugg that describes dependencies on a base of Plugin ID, Plugin Name and Version should be enough.
The XML should be managed by SAPLink, the hard job is to automatically download and install the plugins.
How to login to CodExch?
How to download the certified version of the plugin? A project can delete an old version nugg.
As you said we need a central instance were the plugin version are versioned and identified univocally.
Indeed we need a page in code exchange or a tool in release page in order to register the current file as versioned.

Support Package Manager for EBPCRM

Hi,
In CRM/EBP SAP systems there is used special 'Support Package Manager for EBPCRM' to implement Support Packages instead of standard transactions like SPAM/SAINT.
I'm trying to implement more then one Support Package into the system however this is probably not possible. It seems that it is not possible to create import queue with more then one Support Package? Importing SPs one by one is very time consuming task. SO that's why I'm wondering about this special tool.
Do you have similar functionality?

Yes I've put all the SPs into '\usr\sap\trans\Eps\in'. But 'Support Package Manager for EBPCRM' asks me for particular one while I'm going to import it. There is no such an functionality to use queue creation.
BTW: I'm on SAP CRM 4.0 on WIN/MSSQL platform.

Consolidations Question for Entities and Profit Centers

I'm currently at a client who has a requirement for Legal Entity and Profit Centers within the same application. They also want to see Consolidated results through LE and PC viewpoints. Essentially a "MATRIX" Consolidation.
Unfortunately they have many PC's and many LE's and they cross each other. Thus if we combined the dimensions it would be quite unwieldy (not to mention not sure how to handle the ownership between a LE/PC combo).
I've been told the only other way to handle this maybe through two separate applications, but that is something the client is against. Apparently the MATRIX consolidation is possible in BCS but quite tricky in BPC?

Hi Pras,
In BPC there is no 'standard' solution for matrix consolidation. There are two workarounds which you already mentioned:
- combining the two dimensions into one, assuming there are not to many combinations ...
- performing the consolidation twice in two seperate applications ...
If you want to achieve a matrix consolidation within one application and multiple intco dimensions, you wll have to write your own script logic, which probably can be done, but will consume a lot of efforts ... If this really is the requirement one perhaps should look for Cartheis or SEM BCS?

With Chakra you can install the CCR ( the same as AUR) packages with Package Manager. We should be pleased if this is possible with Arch.

Color management for web and print.

Hi there. I would like to post my images and have them print ready for clients. When I read about both of these I find one thing for web and one thing for print. I don't want to edit them twice. What would you suggest for easiest workflow? I like to post the images in an online gallery for my clients and if I really like them maybe use on my homepage. Do I have to edit twice or what is the optimal setting for a photographer. I do mostly portraits --family, baby, couples, etc.
I am pretty well versed in actual editing processes but my understanding in this portion is still lacking. I am trying prophoto rgb on photos today, but will this compromise my online quality?

You define the quality of the saved image in the Save for Web and Devices dialog box.

That is absurd! (Sorry.) By doing that you are generating unconscionably and unnecessarily large image files. You're clients won't like that.
Remember that you have no control over how anyone sees your images on the web. Something like 97% of Internet users are running non-color-managed web browsers and uncalibrated monitor.
You and you're clients are best served when you stick to the lowest common denominator, namely sRGB images, for web.

Personally, I like to stay in 16-bit ProPhoto RGB when I print my images myself. If sending them to a pro lab, I discussed it with the lab techs. But I have gathered a lot of experience by now. One really has to know exactly what one's doing to edit in ProPhoto RGB and stay in that color space. If sending my images to a cheap lab like Costco, I stick to 8-bit tagged images that I soft-proof with the specific printer profile that will be used by the local store.

If you run into problems with ProPhoto RGB consider converting to Adobe RGB for print. Hello Neraj,
Use the transaction code CRMBS02, there you can find option to create a status profile.
Once you have defined your status profile , then you have to assign the object types by clicking on the object types button. There you can find various objects such as Funds Plan Status Object Type, Fund Status Object Type. You have to check those boxes to make your status profile valid for fund & fund plans.

Package management for your home

Hello,
I'm working (as a user) on a network which is built on a kind of elderly OpenSuse. Since some packages I need/want are missing, some are outdated I've compiled and installed some in my $home. Though it works, it's a hassle to maintain.
I''m looking for some kind of distribution like system which allows installing and managing packages in your $home. When I install a package it checks if the dependencies are there and compiles/installs the necessary packages.
Is there something like that out there?
(it's not Arch related, but I use Arch on my home desktop, that's why I ask here)

I had been asking myself the very same question about half a year ago and tried several options, three of which I remember:
– HAI (Home Arch Install), which promised/promises to be awesome, but I could not get it to work at the time.
– Gentoo Prefix, a way to install a full Gentoo Linux directory structure into your home (read: lots of diskspace, lots of compilation time needed), except for the kernel. You can start the Gentoo environment by a start_gentoo_prefix (or something like that) script and install applications with portage/emerge.
→ This is what I ended up doing.
– Rootless Gobolinux is supposed to do the same thing for Gobolinux. I could not get it to work, though.
EDIT: I just learned about Toast, which appears to be pretty awesome. I am going to try it out soon.

Bapi_pr_create not working for package number for service and limits

I am copying the existing service and limits values from the existing package number to new package number using BAPI_PR_CREATE. I am getting Some error (In case of account assignment, please enter acc. assignment data for item).

Desktop Manager for Mac and Calendars

Hi there,
I installed this software on 10.6.1 and updated my software version on my Curve 8330 as well. No problems there. I like to use GMail on my BB and see that I now have three calendars showing up. One is my phone provider, then my Mac account and also, after installing the Enhanced GMail application on the BB, I now have a GMail calendar. There are no entries in this calendar and I'd like to know if it's possible to sync this calendar with the Desktop Manager software as well as syncing my Mac calendar to my desktop. I know that you cannot install the Google Sync software on the BB when you already have another sync package installed, so I'm wondering how and if it is possible to also sync the Google data to the BB.
Comments and suggestions would be much appreciated.

Packaging concept for GUI and Background, using SwingWorker

How to set up the following structure, in order to meet the requirements of SwingWorker (doInBackground, publish, process):
1. There is a class SGui - contained in a package of Swing GUI methods SGui, located in package ...sgui - which will
- start a background thread, by using SwingWorker, which does some complex logics (the methods from class SSolv, see item 2)
- it passes initial data to that background process, which have been entered into the GUI
- displays the intermediate results from the background threat
2. There is another class SSolv, in package ...ssolv, which contains some complex logics, and should deliver intermediate results to be displayed by the GUI
From all the information from tutorial etc., I put up a structure like this, for SSolv:

This stub already shows the issue, which comes from structuring the application in two (or even more) packages : compiling package SSolv produces the error publish(V...)
has protected access in javax.swing.SwingWorker ! I understand that this protected method could only be used in this context, after instancing a subclass of SwingWorker,
- however I thought it would most senseful to get the "sender" (+publish+), and the "contents" (+ComData+) to the package, where the data will be produced.
This is evidently in contradiction to the requirement, that publish - as a protected method of SwingWorker - should be defined in the SGui class, as it has to apply the (overriden) methods process (including get), done etc.
With my application, the SGui class will be compiled later ! So I had to reference a method from SGui that is not known during compiling of SSolv !
Unfortunately, all the examples shown in the tutorials (as far as I can already know them...) only use one package; so all the classes are compiled from one file, and they will not get this dilemma.
Please give me some idea, how I will have to restructure / workaround / use advanced methods, to solve this ?

Bad news: I did some homework, but I didn't get it working...
One reason may be, that your demo doesn't cover my reqs. exactly, regarding implementation of MySwingWorker, because my SSolv - which does all the processing - has to be in the doInBackground() method, and the 'senderMethod' (called dumpExFlags in my SSolv.java) is running integrated from within, because the application SSolv decides, when we have data ready for publishing. See code below...
Secondly, I really did not get the point with your design, especially with the following segment from MySwingWorker, regarding the use of the private objects sgui and ssolv, and the mechanism of the constructor ?

By the way, I analysed the java files with PMD, and didn't find any relevant
hints why things should not work like that.
Another tricky detail: the compiler (as well as PMD) reports, that method 'publish' does not 'override', except calling the super method, but your example works !?
Finally, to my knowledge any type that is overriden, should have his own @Override 'tag'. So did you purposefully omit that in your design ?
Worst of all, I just ran into the problem that the compiler will not
recognize all the the variables and methods I imported to the
DoSolver(SwingWorker subclass). (This may be an issue from my 'bottom
up' design of my 1000 lines of this first Java example I produced), but:
I don't see why, in this case, javac ignores all the imports from other
packages, and reports 'cannot find symbol' on ANYTHING ... ? This puts my debugging efforts on the major problem to halt ...

Different management for songs and video

Is it possible to have Itunes manage songs but not video? Or manage the videos in another folder / on a different hard drive?
What I really want is to have itunes sync my music but not my videos. I want my videos to stay on my ipod and not be on my computer.

There is a similar problem which has been addressed with Artist and Album Artist fields. What we need are seperate Song-Year and Album-Year fields in the MP3 tags. This is a question for the MP3 standards Committee.
The "roughest" solution would be to append the release date to the song name ... "High Voltage (1976)".

Check point in fund management for budget and creation of po

I have a Budget for a perticular expenses say Rs 100000/-, so the po should not be created for more than Rs 100000/- as per the budget. but the po is been created for more than the budget amount.

First of all as a primary step you can do the following :
1. is the commitment item getting derived in the PO.
2. Is the commitment item non statistical ( means you have not put the tick on statistical commitment item ) in FMCIA .
3. check the budget amount via the report FMRP_RW_BUDCON for the budget amount and released amount .
