Package's name  compilation error

This compilation of the code fails :
package JARUPRUE;
public class JARUPRUE {
    public void getKey() {
           JARUPRUE jr = new JARUPRUE.JARUPRUE();
JARUPRUE/JARUPRUE.java:6: cannot find symbol
symbol  : class JARUPRUE
location: class JARUPRUE.JARUPRUE
        JARUPRUE jr = new JARUPRUE.JARUPRUE();This code compiles OK changing the package name, if the new name is not the same as the class name !!!
This is a real problem for us because the new IBM sqlj precompiler generates code like this. Really, our programs package structure has the same name (class and package) and the code generated by the precompiler causes this. We have hundred of programs with the same package and class name.
Is this a bug? How could we address this issue?

Thanks for your response.
I can't see it, you do?. No, but I'm not looking really.I was talking about the sqlj's command output, where I can't see an option to fix the problem.

Maybe it's something about your source code?
In any case I find it impossible to believe that a language rule that was always present and started being correctly enforced in 1997 is unknown to IBM's authors of their SQLJ preprocessor.Every single .sqlj source file, when precompiled, generates this java code (at the end of the source file):
class JARUPRU5_SJProfileKeys
  private java.lang.Object[] keys;
  private final sqlj.runtime.profile.Loader loader = sqlj.runtime.RuntimeContext.getRuntime().getLoaderForClass(getClass());
  private static JARUPRU5_SJProfileKeys inst = null;
  public static java.lang.Object getKey(int keyNum)
    throws java.sql.SQLException
    synchronized(JARUPRU5.JARUPRU5_SJProfileKeys.class) {
      if (inst == null)
        inst = new JARUPRU5_SJProfileKeys();
    return inst.keys[keyNum];
  private JARUPRU5_SJProfileKeys()
    throws java.sql.SQLException
    keys = new java.lang.Object[1];
    keys[0] = JARUPRU5_DBHOS_HCTX.getProfileKey(loader, "JARUPRU5.JARUPRU5_SJProfile0");
} ... as you can see the code "synchronized(JARUPRU5.JARUPRU5_SJProfileKeys.class)" is the code that fails and its generated automatically and we cannot handle it. DB2 9.5 builds this code, while previous versions don't. I think that nobody in the world uses SQLJ (really a thing of the past) and at the same time nobody use packages as classnames.
We have modified our build scripts to remove the package name from that line (before calling javac) and thus, continue with the migration of our applications.
Thanks for your ideas.

  • Using package getting compiler error

    I have a project at c:\myproject
    I have a file name as b.java in c:\myproject
    I have a sub-directory named as com\sski\ in c:\myproject
    In that subdirectory there is a file a.java (package of a.java is com.sski) which is using class b.
    I have compiled b.java successfully, But I am unable to compile a.java
    I am getting compiler error cannot resolve symbol
    Sourece of a.java is as follow package com.sski;
    //import b;
    public class  a
         public static void main(String[] args)
              b obj = new b();
              System.out.println("Inside a.java: " +obj);
    }i have even tried using import b;
    then i get error as '.' expected
    how do i successfully compile a.java, where do i place b.java.
    i dont want to put b.java inside any package.

    b.class is not being found in your classpath. If you are compiling in C:\myproject, b.class should end up in C:\myproject, since you are not putting it in a package (which, IMO, is a bad idea). This assumes that you are not using the -d <destination> command line option in the javac command line.
    To compile a.java, you need to use the -classpath command line option, as follows:
    javac -classpath C:\myproject a.java
    or
    javac -classpath . a.java (note the dot).
     {

  • Compile error when using a class by fully-qualified name

    Hi... Is it an AS3 "feature" or a FB compiler bug that I cannot use a class without importing it?
    I have a statement such as
    if (de.codebank.util.StringUtilities.startsWith(status.name, phase.name+"_"))
    which does not compile until I import the StringUtilities class, which is pointless, of course.
    The compile error mentions an unknown property "util"

    I believe this is how AS3 works. Fully qualified class types require import statement.
    You use fully qualified name whenever you want to avoid ambiguity.
    However, when the code is like,
    import mx.collections.XMLListCollection;
    var arr:mx.collections.ArrayCollection;
    It works since compiler now understands that "mx.collections" is a package.

  • Application name allows spaces == compiler errors.

    Hi,
    Love the idea of the LaunchPad. Great way to see working code examples for all the top mobile APIs. I noticed when I created my application the Application name allowed spaces in the name. Once I imported the app into Flash Builder 4 Burrito, it threw a number of errors due to a space in the class name(s). It took a while to find all of the places where the spaces needed to be removed.
    I think it would great to have LaunchPad allow spaces in the name, but then know when to replace the spaces with underscores _ for the package and class names. This way we can keep the application name with spaces for things like the app name listed on the device, but then ensure that there are no spaces where it will throw compilation errors.
    Thanks,
    iBrent

    Thanks for the feedback Brent! I see what you're reporting, thanks for letting me know. I recently changed the way that works to use the app name for all the file names, previously it was created with the name Main.mxml so that was not an issue. I'll consider replacing the spaces with underscores as you suggested. Thanks much! Holly

  • Compile Error: "schema 'name' does not exist

    Im trying to build a program that quereys a table in a database but i keep getting this error. Am i missing a link between the files or am i missing a line of code in my program??

    Apologies. I receive a compiler error which reads as follows;
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver
    java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: Schema 'DEMO' does not exist
    Heres the main body of code i am trying to execute.
    public class Main {
    * @param args the command line arguments
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    // TODO code application logic here
    try{
    Class.forName("org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver");
    }catch(ClassNotFoundException e){
    System.out.println(e);
    try{
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/SimpleDBDemo", "demo", "demo");
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM DEMO.Table1");
    while (rs.next()) {
    String s = rs.getString("Name");
    float n = rs.getFloat("Age");
    System.out.println(s + " " + n);
    }catch(SQLException e){
    System.err.println(e);
    I am using NetBeans IDE and have created a database under: Services->Databases-> Java DB->SimpleDBDemo.
    I have a database connection in which theres a simple table (called "TABLE1") created which contains the names and ages of two people.
    Hope this makes the problem a bit clearer.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • MovieClip Name inside other MovieClip Compiler Error

    I have a movieClip called "mcUnitedStates" inside another mother movieClip.
    I have two instances of the mother movieClip. One entitled "mcWorldMapTop" on its own layer and the other entitled "mcWorldMapBottom" on its own layer.
    I thought having two instances of the same movieClip and applying different filters to the mcUnitedStates movieClip in each.
    Error I get is:
    Access of unidentified property mcWorldMapBottom
    I'm doing this because the colorTransform is making the glow the same color as the colorTransform instead of the color I want the glow to be.
    I am getting a Compiler error with this code:
    stop();
    import flash.display.Sprite;
    import flash.filters.GlowFilter;
    var colorON="0x1E6175";
    var colorOFF="0xCCCCCC";
    var glowColor="0xFFFFFF";
    var glowAlpha=.75;
    var glowBlurX=25;
    var glowBlurY=25;
    var glowStrength=2;
    var glowQuality=2;
    var glowInner=false;
    var glowKnockout=false;
    mcWorldMapBottom.mcUnitedStates.filters=[new GlowFilter(glowColor,glowAlpha,glowBlurX,glowBlurY,glowStrength,glowQuality,glowInner,glo wKnockout)];
    var colorTransform:ColorTransform=mcWorldMapTop.mcUnitedStates.transform.colorTransform;
    colorTransform.color=colorON;
    mcWorldMapTop.mcUnitedStates.transform.colorTransform=colorTransform

    does that one movieclip, mentioned in the error message, exist in the same frame as that code?
    if so, there are a few ways you could cause a problem and still have the instance name match the name used in your actionscript.
    one way would be if you converted a button or graphic to a movieclip.  if you didn't do that, remove the current movieclip with that instance name and create a new movieclip with that instance name.  retest.
    if you see a different error (about a term being undefined etc), you can remove that new movieclip and drag the correct movieclip to the stage and, after copying the name from your code, paste that name into the properties panel.  retest.

  • Compilation Error for import classes not found in generated Proxy Class

    Hi,
    We are generating java classes for the COM dll using JCOM com2java compiler.
    We are getting a compilation error for import class not found when compiling the
    generated Proxy java source code. It can't find the com.bea.jcom.Dispatch class that
    the generated Proxy java source code extends. It also can't find com.bea.jcom.Variant
    or com.bea.jcom.Param. These are interfaces or data types or classes used by COM
    library.
    I added weblogic.jar to my class path and the only Dispatch class i found inside
    the weblogic.jar is com.linar.jintegra.Dispatch;
    We have com objects for which we want to develop an EJB client to interface with
    the COM object using JCOM with Native Mode disabled.
    Any help on the compilation error..I tried changing the extends for Dispatch to com.linar.jintegra.Dispatch
    but the other errors are still there.
    To begin with, I think the generated code should not refer to any of the COM data
    types.
    Any help please.
    Thank you in advance,
    Regards,

    [email protected]

    Hi,
    I resolved the other errors by changing all references from com.bea.jcom.Variant
    etc to com.linar.jintegra.class name..all were present under the com.linar.jintegra
    package.
    Thank you all anyways,

    Just to put a proper closure to this thread, there were 2 issues with the Jdev version I was using (11.1.2.0.0)
    1) Wrapper for PL/SQL not getting generated properly.
    2) Webservice proxies are not getting generated properly.
    The 2 issues were taken care by generating the wrapper and proxy on a much higher version of Jdev.

    Thanks for the quick response. I created a new application in 11tp from scratch. I created a View Object and pasted the offending code into it and got the same compile errors. I actually got the code about a year ago from Steve's Not Yet Documented Applications. He has since removed the App from the page, changed the code and added it to the Dev Guide. The sample app showed how to bind a View object to a REF Cursor returned from a stored procedure and it looked something like this:
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall("{?=call package.name(P_CODIGO => ?)}");
    cs.rgisterOutParameter(1,OracleTypes.CURSOR);
    cs.setInt(2,16782);
    cs.executeQuery();
    ResultSet result = ((OracleCallableStatement)cs).getCursor(1);
    Changing the code to look more like what is now in the DEV GUIDE will more than likely work because he eliminates the need for the OracleCallableStatement.
    This brings me to my next point. If migration is not currently supported, will it be when the production release of JDEV 11g is available? Shame on me for just quickly skimming the release notes but when the import wizard ran on my project it did not warn me that the feature is not supported or that problems are likely. Upon resolving the issues with the callable statement, I had significant other compile errors in my jspx pages that will probably not be as trivial to fix. If project upgrades are not performed "easily" it will certainly push the 11g adoption date out considerably.
    Thanks again, your comments are always encouraged.
    Jeff
