Package title using install shield
We are creating a msi package for our application using install shield version 11. The coding is compiled using VS2008. We changed the version as 1.20.3 in the code and compiled the same using VS and we are able to see it as 1.20.3 in the application.but when we create msi package in installshield using the same code and installing the same package the version title seems to be 1.20.2 that is its previous version. In our code there is no string as1.20.2 .Is there any settings needed to be done in installshield to make the changes
[Don] I don't know what you pasted in but Forums had no idea how to interpret it so I removed it.
In the top left corner the title as 1.20.3 got from VS compilation. Please help me to get out from this issue

Have you posted to InstallShield Forum. I think versioning has nothing to do with CR.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Are you on a PC by chance? Your profile doesn't list the specifications for your computer, but since your post mentions Install Shield, I'd guess "yes", as the Mac version doesn't use Install Shield.
If that's the case, you should really check out the iTunes for Windows discussions, as you'll more likely get a better answer faster. You've posted in the iTunes for Mac discussion.
In particular, look at the article at the top about certain anti-virus software.

We are looking at purchasing Creative Cloud for educators, and using the 'Device Licensing' model.
As a casual comment in the tutorial video at the bottom of the page at http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager.html,
the presenter mentioned that the downloaded CC package can be installed on an HD image, but that one should run the products before using that as a master image to 'ghost' a lab. I have found no other references to this anywhere, and want to verify that this is an option.
Instead of having to install Microsoft SCCM, and doing all that, can we just install this package on our master HD image, and then use it throughout the semester to reimage lab machines as needed?
I assume that the 'device ID' is tied to something on the physical machine, so that reimaging a machine if it becomes corrupted midway through the year won't add 1 to our count of licenses used?
Thanks.
SchemmThat link does not help. We expect to use CC Teams shortly, and deployment is deeply worrying.
The issue of making a master computer image to be deployed is tricky because of the Adobe IDs needed to run the software on the machines to which that image is deployed.
- One can use Packager to create .pkg and .msi files.
- When creating the master image, one can double click these (anyway, that's what's said at http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/packager/deploying-packages.html)
- After that image is deployed to the client machines, the unanswered question is how to get each machine effieciently authorized without sharing authenticating data with student users?
Oh, and what the hell is up with Acrobat deployment on Windows? OK, that's a somewhat separate issue, but just barely. -
Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found
Greetings. I am new to UPK and am seeking guidance on an upgrade to 11.1.
A little background on what we are trying to do:
We have two machines:
Windows 2003 machine in domain 'X' | UPK 11.0.0.1.
Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine in domain 'Y' | UPK 11.0 on the new machine first, install the 11.0.0.1 patch, and then upgrade to 11.1.
We are using the same database as the old machine. Developer Server is Standard Authentication, Knowledge Center is Windows authentication.
==========================================================================================
So far we have installed 11.1 with the respective database upgrades, but are lost as to how to migrate the old Content Root data. We have copied all the content to the new Content Root, added it to IIS like the old machine, and verified that the UPK database Content Root path is correct and working.
For the rest of the post, I am remoted into the server from my local workstation, and then using IE to access KCenter on the server's FQDN, not via localhost.
Since I am green, so I presumed that I would need to import the titles under Manager in KCenter. I zipped each content folder individually (they are named "1", "9", etc), and then attempted to import each zip file.
NOTE: At this stage sometimes we are prompted to authenticate again. When it does, sometimes the credentials that we know work, get rejected and we are prompted again. This will repeat until we get a 401 and we have to start over. We have verified that the Windows account currently in session with the site is valid and has administrator authority within KC.
NOTE2: On the first few tries, .NET complained that maxRequestLength was not large enough. I had our servers team increase it on the actual server in order for us to proceed.
Provided we don't have to authenticate again, or that it actually accepts our credentials, we get to the 30% mark and then receive the error: *"Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found"*
Does anyone have any wisdom for this process? The title importation section in the deployment manual is not helping, and the administrator from whom I am taking over this software has not had to deal with this before.
Thank you,
Ian
Edited by: 986290 on Feb 5, 2013 10:21 AMHi Marc, thanks for the post,
I have gone through an extensive troubleshooting process with Oracle, including their development team, in order to fully complete our project setup. As a supplemental bit of information, we also were having connection errors when attempting to publish directly to the knowledge center.
As far as the context of this post, here is the solution in brief:
1) Verify that the package being imported was published from the same version of the Developer Client as the Knowledge Center installation's.
2) Check for database consistency issues. In our case we were using a database that was built in another domain. After numerous attempts with Oracle support on the line to determine the inconsistency, it was decided to completely reinstall and build a new database from scratch in the new domain.
3) Check application pool identities and access (while we had some inconsistencies here, correcting them did not change the behavior of the import/publish errors)
In review, a lot of what we had setup was correct. Our primary point of failure, we feel, was using the old database. Technically this should not have been a problem, but Murphy likes to get his way sometimes.

ITunes will not load? Install Shield error...?
I have been trying to install iTunes 6.0 (i think, the newest from CD) and I receive a pop up window that says:
Install Shield:
Command Line parameters:
/L Language ID
/S Hide intialization dialog. For slient made use: /S
/v /qn
/V parameters to MsiExec.exe
/Ua <url to InstMsiA.exe>
/UW <url to InstMsiW.exe>
/UM <url to msi package>
I am logged in under Admin, I have Norton AV, but have disabled it before installing and even tried installing in Safe Mode and nothing works, same Install Shield message.
Any ideas?
I currently have an ipod nano (new) and ipod mini. also no itunes is currently installed.
Thank!
JonjaySomeone else had a similar problem. They repaired the installer engine from microsoft.

App-V SP3 Sequenced Packages Fail to Install via MSI with Error
I upgraded my sequencer machine and 2 client machines to App-V SP3 and proceeded to sequence 2 new packages. I then attempted to install the new packages on the client PCs using the automatically created MSI and got the following errors during install. Note
I am logged into the PC with an Admin user. Screen shot 1 pops up during the install, then screenshot 2 shows up right after. I have also included the event log error. Note that packages sequenced using SP2 install fine via their MSI on the SP3 client machine.
Both a Win7 and Win81 client with SP3 give this error, and I have tried reinstalling the clients on both PCs. If I add and publish the packages via powershell they work fine. Any assistance is appreciated.
AppV Error Code: 0300000102
Event ID:10
If you found this post helpful, please give it a "Helpful" vote. If it answered your question, remember to mark it as an "Answer".OK, fond the issue in the msi file. Do the following steps to fix the issue:
Download the mst that fixes the issue: http://www.notmyfault.ch/downloads/AppV5_SP3Fix.zip
Extract the mst file and copy it into the same folder as your msi file
Run the following command: msiexec /i YourAppvPackage.msi TRANSFORMS=AppV5_SP3Fix.mst
If you want to run it unattended, add /qb as parameter. Make sure your current directory is the one that contains the msi/mst or just add the full path to your msi and mst. Don't rename your msi, use the original name that has been created by the sequencer.
Let me know if that fixes your issue.

VarunHi Avi,
Thanks for your reply.
I was able to install the packages, not eactly the same way as u told but I downloaded them from http://public-yum.oracle.com/ and installed them manually. Was also able to change parameters.
And Bingo, there was no pre-requisite failures while installing SOA.
One of the probs that I'm facing now is that when I try to access the WLS Console of SOA after creating domain, I'm able to open it on the local machine using IP and localhost. But it doesn't work the same way when I use hostname. It gives an error saying No Route to the Host. Also I'm not able to access WLS Console from any other machine using IP address of the machine.
Any inputs that can be of any help.
Cheers,

Crystal Reports XI - Where to find the Merge Module and the Install Shield?
Hi,
I'm using CR XI with Delphi 2006 and I'm having problems with the client side instalation of the program. They say I have to install the Merge Modules through an Install Shield programs.
Where to find this and how to use?
Thanks!Hi,
Install shield is a part of MS Windows not with the BusinessObjects so I was not able to find any BO document on it.
I have searched over the internet and found some useful links about Install Shield for Windows:
http://gormanonline.com/blogs/msidle/archive/2008/05/02/basic-introduction-to-installshield-and-windows-installer.aspx
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InstallShield
Microsoft Windows includes registry-activated logging services to help diagnose Windows Installer issues. This article describes how to enable this logging service.
Open the registry with Regedt32.exe and create the following path and keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
Reg_SZ: Logging
Value: voicewarmup
You can use this example:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftwindowsInstaller]
u201CLoggingu201D=u201Dvoicewarmupu201D
The letters in the value field can be in any order. Each letter turns on a different logging mode. Each letteru2019s actual function is as follows for MSI version 1.1:
v Verbose output
o Out-of-disk-space messages
i Status messages
c Initial UI parameters
e All error messages
w Non-fatal warnings
a Start up of actionsr Action-specific records
m Out-of-memory or fatal exit information
u User requests
p Terminal properties
+ Append to existing file
! Flush each line to the log
u201Cu201D - Wildcard, log all information except for the v option. To include the v option, specify u201C/lvu201C.
Once activated, the log files that are generated may be found in your %TEMP% directory.
Hope this will give you a clarification about Installation Shield for Windows.

Help! Packages did not install, and bootloader is nonexistant.
Right now, I just installed archlinux through my usb stick and used the netinstall x86_64, because I use a 64 bit processor. Anyways these packages could not download for some reason:
cloog
mpfr
ppl
autoconf
automake
wget
which
m4
bin86
bison
wpa_supplicant
gcc and
isdn4k
Also I couldn't get the bootloader installed. Now, most things are working so, I just need to get a bootloader installed and get those packages. Here's the main issue:
I need wpa_supplicant to connect to my network.
Can anyone help me here? I would appreciate it.
I have a previous installation of arch on another computer, so tech & linux terms shouldn't confuse me.kowalski wrote:
Hi,
I do not totally get your problem. Is this just a matter of installing wpa_supplicant? Then you should download the package on the other machine that does work.
pacman -Sw wpa_supplicant
Afterwards you can copy it to the new machine and install the package file using
pacman -U /path/to/file.pkg.tar.gz
. I figure you are able to set up wpa_supplicant since you used netinstall.
Am I entirely off?!
During the install I used wpa_supplicant, but it didn't install to the system. -
Using Install DVDs for an iBook on a PowerBook
I recently purchased a 12" powerbook g4 1.5 GHz and I wanted to do a fresh install of the OS. However, the powerbook did not come with installation software. I have the installation discs from my iBook G4 (OSX - Tiger), though. Will these work for the powerbook and/or are there potential problems? Thanks in advance for your help!
PB G4 12" 1.5GHz Mac OS X (10.4.9)The install package that ships with a new Mac purchase is model and build specific with build being the key word so the short answer is no.
It is not a good idea to purchase a used Mac without the install package that shipped with the Mac when new and if the OS on the used Mac was upgraded - like from Panther to Tiger for example, the retail install package for the upgrade should also be included.
You don't have the Hardware Test CD for this Mac model and build or the install package to run Disk First Aid repair - although a Tiger retail install package can be used for this or the install package to re-install the OS and all included software that shipped with this Mac when new via an A&I or an E&I is needed or desired.
Anyway to ask for the install package that shipped with this Mac when new and if not, you should contact Apple to request a replacement install package for this Mac. -

So now what???Thanks but I'm in Apple so no Temp file as in Windows. This is like a journey back in time to the days when you had to feel comfortable accessing and renaming folders on your computer instead of just starting and using the application you have paid for. I assume Adobe were able to take my subscription money without difficulty...
