Pacman dependency issue: cannot find dependency files

Hello!
Some weeks ago I upgraded my system using pacman -Suy running in terminal inside screen. For some reason the terminal and screen died and pacman got interrupted in the middle of a big upgrade. After that my box behaves very strangely. For instance I cannot longer start screen:
$ screen
reopen fifo /tmp/screens/S-dan/5120.pts-1.laptop: No such file or directory
I no longer have perl installed, and I seem to miss all the standard c-libraries
$ gcc test.c
test.c:1:19: error: stdio.h No such file or directory
I do not know if this above is of relevance, but when I try using pacman now I get  a error on not being able to find the »depends» files of glibc and perl. The directory they are being looked for at has a double slash // very odd. This is an output:
# pacman -Suy

Any ideas if this is fixable? I havent found anything here on the forums or on the interwebs. I could do a fresh reinstall, but maybe I could save some time by just fixing this.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Dan

And the problem transists. I tried pacman -R glibc perl but it didn't go too well, got complaints on practically everything depending on glibc. Is it a good or bad idea to manually delete all the files listed above? There surely has to be a better way...

  • LV2010 SP1 Installer Build Issue- Cannot find the file it need on requesyed disk

    I am migrating a project from LV8.6.1 to 2010SP1 and had issues building the installer that I was finally able to overcome, but something is amiss with the process.
    Brand new development PC, running XP SP3, fresh install of LV2010SP Dev Suite and also installed VDM2010 SP1 (even though the project does not use any vision modules).
    -          Copied 8.6.1 project to the PC, did a mass compile of it and built the exe from scratch without issues.
    -          Now it’s time to build the installer from scratch. Additional Installers were:
     LV2010 RTE, MAX 4.7, NI-DAQmx Full App Devel Support 9.2.3, and NI-VISA 5.03.
    -          Get the message that it will need some disks to build it which I have on hand:
    Dev Suite DVD#2, Drivers DVD, and VDM DVD (huh, why VDM?)
    -          The installer build progresses through the first two disks fine but will not find the files it needs on the VDM DVD (it is looking for “NI System Components”).
    -          Installer build bails out with a message box and no installer is created (1st attachment). The installer logs are also attached.
    -          Try the build process gain, same result.
    -          Copied the VDM DVD to my hard drive and point it to that folder to get the files, same result.
    -          Try again saying I don’t have the disks on hand. It lists some alternate disks to use but to get all the files it still wants the VDM DVD to complete it. Not much use, the build still fails.
    -          Try one last time again selecting that I don’t have the disks on hand. I now notice that the folder the VDM was copied to on the hard drive is an option to select. Select that one and lo and behold the installer is built successfully.
    So I guess it boils down to:
                - Why does it need the VDM DVD when there are no components of vision used?
                - Why can’t the installer find the files it needs on the VDM DVD or a copy of the DVD on the hard drive?
                - Why will it only work if I choose that I do not have the disks and point it to a copy of the DVD that resides on the hard drive?

    Che:
    It gave no specific indication of what it was looking for, the only message that came up was in the screenshot jpg I originally posted.
    The only other vague clue I had was it needed NI System Component from the VDM DVD.
    Does not make sense that it required the VDM DVD since there were no vision components in the project. I presume it would have taken VISA off of the Dev Suite DVD's.
    I can't replicate the problem since I had the build cache the system components required for the project. I'd rather not start deleting folders at this point since I have a viable installer at this time (after many hours of troublshooting expended).
    Thanks

  • Known Issue: MIDL fails to compile IDL files in UAP projects. Gives following error: midlrt : error MIDL4034: Failed to load a dependency file. Windows.winmd (HRESULT:0x80070002 - The system cannot find the file specified. )

    Visual Studio gives the following error:
    midlrt : error MIDL4034: Failed to load a dependency file. Windows.winmd (HRESULT:0x80070002 - The system cannot find the file specified. )
    This is because Visual Studio is looking for a WinMD file that contains the base types.  Unfortunately the metadata path passed by default to MIDL through Visual Studio does not resolve to the correct file.

    Work around:
    Update the "Additional Metadata Directories" for MIDL to include the Windows.Foundation.FoundationContract.WinMD
    To update the “Additional Metadata Directories” in Visual Studio, do the following:
    1)  Right click on your C++ Project file.
    2)  Choose properties.
    3)  Under Configuration Properties, click MIDL
    4)  Under MIDL choose “Command Line”
    5)  In the Additional Options text box enter:
    /Metadata_dir "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\References\Windows.Foundation.FoundationContract\1.0.0.0”
    or on X86 machines
    /Metadata_dir "C:\Program Files\Windows Kits\10\References\Windows.Foundation.FoundationContract\1.0.0.0”

  • Outlook 2010 - sending mail with attachment - "The system cannot find the file specified"

    Hi forum Fellows,
    I have the following failure scenario:
    1. A user receives an e-mail with an attachment.
    2. The user opens the attachment --> Forwards the mail and writes something in the body of the e-mail
    3. For whatever reason the user leaves the e-mail and works on something else --> the user comes back to the e-mail an hour or more later.
    4. The user then wants to send the e-mail but gets the following error message: "The system cannot find the file specified"
    5. The effect is that the user cannot send the e-mail.....
    ------------------------------ TROUBLESHOOTING -----------------------
    - I can see that when the user opens an attachment this attachment is saved in the OutlookTemp folder. Actually, there is a difference between opening the attachment before or after clicking forward on the e-mail.
    ---- Before: Two files is written to the OutlookTemp folder. For example if the attachment name is FileX.pdf - there will be a FileX.pdf but also a FileX (2).pdf in the folder (if OutlookTemp is empty/do not contain a file with the name FileX.pdf already)
    ---- After: Only one file is written to OutlookTemp. That is FileX.pdf
    - Running Process Monitor when trying to forward the e-mail I can see that Outlook is calling a file that is not in the OutlookTemp folder anymore.
    **** To me this is the heart of the issue. For some reason, when a user has an e-mail with an attachment open for an extended period of time (not sure on exactly how long is necessary), files in the OutlookTemp folder is deleted - files that Outlook is depending
    on to be there.
    - Going with a totally clean OutlookTemp folder does not help.
    ------------------ NOW WHAT ---------------
    - The question now is: Is this by design? Can it be fixed by some Outlook 2010 patch? Or perhaps a group policy/registry setting as a workaround.

    Regards The Red Baron
    Red Baron

    Hello Red Baron,
    Although not a complete answer, the way to treat attachments in emails require some discipline:
    1. Never open an attachment directly from the email (and NEVER edit it from there). Always save it in a known location as the desktop or (better) in a designated document folder. Then you can proceed as usual, like editing the contents, printing, forwarding
    the new version etc.
    2. Directly forwarding the attachment is ok, along with additional text in the body of the email.
    3. Having any (unsaved) document open for several hours should
    never occur. What if there is a power outage?
    Bottom line is thus Discipline. This is regardless of Operating System (which might handle temporary files differently).
    These are the rules I teach my customers and they never leave any document unsaved for hours ...
    Best regards George

  • App-v 4.6: cannot find the file specified

    Hi,
    Please see my previous
    post.
    In short: an application needs Internet Explorer activex, then a plugin for Excel. My App-v package is working (Internet Explorer opening), but the Excel plugin does not work. It says "cannot find the file specified".
    I copied the excel shortcut from start menu to q:\packagename.
    Please advise.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt
    In .osd file of Excel plugin, there is the following:
        <CODEBASE HREF="RTSP://%SFT_SOFTGRIDSERVER%:554/WindowsX64/Application/1.0/excelplugin.sft" GUID="9FA88591-089E-4E57-89D5-C23239E83238" PARAMETERS="" FILENAME="%CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE"
    SYSGUARDFILE="applic.001\osguard.cp" SIZE="305879730"/>
            <WORKINGDIR>%CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%\Microsoft Office\Office12</WORKINGDIR>
    The CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%, is that correct? If not, can I change it and how? Should I then reimport the package?
    I might have found a solution but please advise:
    http://blog.gridmetric.com/2011/09/26/possible-caveats-in-mixing-32-bit-and-64-bit-app-v-packages-and-environments/
    Office is x86, so I probably should change the %CSIDL_Programfiles% to %programfiles(x86)%?

    Changing CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES to  %programfiles(x86)% is worth a try.
    A common reason for that 'cannot find the file..' error message also often can be resolved by removing the Workingdir entry (<WORKINGDIR></WORKINGDIR>  or just <WORKINGDIR/>.
    The way to apply the change depends on your deployment scenario. With an App-V Management Server (and for a test packae) you could modify (a copy of) the original .OSD file in the content share. Make sure you save with 'save as' and then 'Unicode'. Then
    re-initiate a Server Refresh from the client, that should download the new OSD.
    You also could - if it is permitted - create a copy of the client-local copy of the OSD file (you can figure that out with the Client Management Console). Double-Clicking that modified copy could do the trick.
    If you use another deployment method (SCCM, MSI) you would need to moify the OSD file using the App-V Sequencer.
    Whatever method you use during troubleshooting: For the 'final' pacage you should open the original package on the Sequencer ('Edit'), make the changes there and re-save + re-deploy the package. This makes sure that all information is consitent across the
    various App-V files

  • Dbms_scheduler - ORA-27301: system cannot find the file specified

    Hi,
    I'm having problems running an executable job via dbms_scheduler. The invoking code reads:
    begin

                                 job_type   => "EXECUTABLE",
                                 job_action => 'convert c:\wowtemp\test.jpg -thumbnail 155 c:\wowtemp\test.png',
                                 enabled    => TRUE
       dbms_scheduler.run_job(job_name   => "fred");
    end;and running this in SQL*plus gives me:

    Any ideas?
    BTW, this is using XE on WinXP. (I'd post in the XP forum but it seems to have disappeared).
    Thanks,
    john

    OK, problem #1 solved:
    By default, XE on Windows sets up the scheduler service to disabled. Enable and start it, then we can move on to problem #2:
    ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: Incorrect function.
    See http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/blog/2005/may/27.html for a workaround using a .bat file which sadly doesn't help me. How do I pass runtime switches and parameters?
    DBMS_SCHEDULER is wonderfully powerful, but NOWHERE in the copious documentation can I find help on how to do something really SIMPLE.
    I just want to run an unscheduled, ad hoc executable job which runs an OS command with parameters, as in:
    'c:\mydir\convert.exe c:\mydir\test.jpg -thumbnail 155 c:\mydir\test.png'
    Can the job_action parameter include command-line switches and parameters or not?
    In the documentation for CREATE_JOB, 'For an executable, the action is the name of the external executable, including the full path name and any command-line arguments.', but this doesn't work for me.
    Elsewhere (Error running executable job I read:
    If the job_type is executable then the scheduler expects only the executable name and path as job_action (no command line arguments) e.g. ("c:\win32\cmd.exe")
    For commandline arguments you should be setting number_of_arguments to the required value and then doing set_job_argument_value for each argument. (e.g. 3, "/q", "/c", "script.bat").
    What's the real story?
    Any and all assistance much appreciated
    Thanks

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
    Generally, this error is caused by SSAS. Please try to steps below to see whether it helps:
    1. Look into the "Ssms.exe.config" file (installed to "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE") and notice the section:

    2. The "href" attribute should specify the full path for "msmgdsrv.dll" (eg: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Analysis Services\AS OLEDB\10\msmgdsrv.dll"). The path will be different depending on whether you have installed SSMS on x64 or x86 environments as the SSMS software is 32 bit and all the 32 bit software gets installed in to Program Files (x86) on a 64bit environment.

  • When I download a page a message says cannot find zip file directory

    When I try to download a page a message appears after the download time saying in part that "cannot find zip file directory". This message appears on all downloads I attemp.

    Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
    If you have upgraded from version 8 (or earlier) to iTunes 9 (or later) at some point, then your media folder (everything inside the red outline) may still be called iTunes Music instead of iTunes Media. The extra Music folder inside the media folder is used if you have allowed iTunes to Upgrade to iTunes Media Organization (iTunes 9) or used File > Library > Organize Library > Reorganize files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (iTunes 10). Depending on your choices for Keep iTunes Media folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library plus a little bug in which one build changed the name of the file storing the choice of layout it is quite easy for some of your files to be organized according to one layout and some the other.
    It is possible that in the upgrade to Lion iTunes has been installed with the current default options while your library is based on an older structure. Use Get Info. on a missing track, click cancel when asked to locate it and look at the path given on the summary tab. Now look for the actual file with Finder. Post both paths back here and we can try to make sense of the problem.

  • Error message on my development workstation: The system cannot find the file specified.

    Post Author: cseverin
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    Hi,
    I am currently developing an ASP.NET website using Visual Studio.NET 2005. I am using the .NET 2.0 framework, VB.NET as my programming language and I connect successfully to a SQL Server 2005 database.  I can select, insert, update and delete data from the database elsewhere in my project, so I know basic connectivity isn't an issue.  The problem seems to be with Crystal Reports.
    I created a folder called 'Reports' in my project and added a Crystal Report file (OpenFiles.rpt) to it.  I designed the report and initally used a hard-coded SQL query as its datasource so I could quickly get the database fields onto the report and preview them.  All worked fine.
    To make the report accessible to the rest of the website, I created an .xsd dataset file containing the three tables (and their corresponding tableadapters) that the report requires and then redeveloped the report using the dataset as the datasource for the report.  After doing this, the preview no longer worked.
    Next, I added a page to the website and dragged a Crystal Report Viewer Control onto it.  In the code behind the page I wrote:
    Option Strict On
    Imports System.Data
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    Partial Class Reports
         Inherits System.Web.UI.Page

         Dim strStaffId As String
         Dim strReportId As String
         Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
              Dim reportPath As String = Server.MapPath("OpenFiles.rpt")
              Dim rptopenfiles As New ReportDocument
              rptOpenFiles.Load(reportPath)  <== I checked this during execution and the value correctly points to the OpenFiles.rpt file in the Reports     folder of my project
              Dim ConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
              ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = my database
              ConnectionInfo.UserID = login id of user
              ConnectionInfo.Password = user's password
              SetDBLogonForReport(ConnectionInfo, rptopenfiles)
              CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rptopenfiles
         End Sub
         Protected Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
             ConfigureCrystalReports()

                   myTableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo = ConnectionInfo
                   myTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(myTableLogonInfo)
              Next
         End Sub
    End Class
    I added a hyperlink to one of the existing pages on the website to navigate to this page with the report viewer on it.  When I run the website in Visual Studio and click on the hyperlink I get the following:

    Any ideas, anyone?
    Also, assuming I can get past this error, I will need to figure out how to fill the tables in the .xsd dataset file.  I have written a class for the dataset that includes functions that populate the tables in the dataset from the database by executing SQL queries.  But how do I call these functions at the time the report is run?
    This is my first Crystal report written in .NET and I've been struggling with it for days now.  Any help would be most appreciated!
    Thanks very much!

    hello, the error message is obviously coming from one of the installed mcafee extensions. please directly contact mcafee technical support - they can likely give you more detailed guidance and are the only ones who can fix bugs or make necessary adjustments in the addon.

    I started getting this error message for the first time today. When I look in the event log I see it every time anyone tries to sync to a mobile device to the exchange server. I've also had this problem trying to connect using
    Outlook. I believe it is an IIS issue but I'm not absolutely sure so I'm posting this in the Exchange forum as well.

    I have tried most, if not all, of the different post's suggestions to no avail.
    The steps I have taken are as follows...
    1. Repaired .Net 4 (Both the client and extended)
    2. Uninstalled and reinstalled .Net Framework 4.0.
    3. Verified that the dll exists.
    4. Checked the applicationHost.config file. It contains the follow statement...
    <add name="ServiceModel-4.0" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.ServiceHttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0"
    />
    5. Changed the following line in web.config to include the runtimeVersion...
    <add name="ServiceModel" type="System.ServiceModel.Activation.HttpModule, System.ServiceModel.Activation, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" preCondition="managedHandler,runtimeVersionv2.0" />
    6. Executed aspnet_regiis.exe -iru from the ...\Framework64\v4.0.30319 directory.
    7. Went to inetpub\history to use an applicationHost.config file from yesterday but it only has history from 9PM tonight. It probably had what I needed before I started changing it tonight.
    I still receive the same error message.
    Like I said everything was working yesterday. In fact I didn't hear or see any issue until after 1PM today.
    Any help would be very appreciated!

    Hi,
    Please confirm whether users can access their mailboxes from Outlook Web Access or not. We can do the following changes to have a try:
    1. In IIS > Application Pools, change the .NET Framework Version to v2.0 and restart IIS service.
    2. If it doesn’t work, explore the Default Web site.
    3. Renamed the web.config file to web.config.old
    4. Reset IIS using iisreset command to have a try.
    Thanks,

  • Office 365 App using NAPA - "The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)"

    Hello,
    I am creating an app using NAPA tool in Office 365. I am trying to "Add an attachment" to a custom list item using SPServices. When I am using my code  (jquery code) in content editor web part on a page, its working fine, but when I am adding
    the same code in an app, its giving me error :  "The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT:

    Any suggestions, why I am getting this error in NAPA ?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you have an issue about adding attachments to list items in app.
    To add attachment to list item in the host web, we should first get the list and the list items from the host web, then add the attachments to the list items.
    There are two articles about retrieve the list and list items in the host web, you can refer to them.
    http://www.dotnetcurry.com/showarticle.aspx?ID=1028
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/93cb27/retrieve-sharepoint-app-host-web-list-items-in-sharepoint-ho/
    What’s more, we can also use the REST API to achieve the same scenario.

  • Photosmart C4780 install fails at "system cannot find specified file"

    My problem started simply with the printer, an HP Photosmart C4780 which has always had a wireless connection and would not print.  At first, the network connection checked out fine from the printer control panel.  I ran a Microsoft printer troubleshooter, which found a block in the print queue, and cleared it.  The first test page would not print, but the "inner test page" did print.  I didn't understand whatever that meant, so I looked for help from the HP site.
    I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor, and it suggested I reinstall the driver.  I downloaded and saved the current one from HP (PS_AIO_06_C4700_USW_Full_Win_enu_140_175.exe) and then uninstalled the existing driver.  When I attempted to install the new one, a window popped up saying, "The system cannot find the specified file," with only one box to click which said simply "OK".  The installation went through to "review installation options", after which came “checking updates, downloading updates, installing updates” and then it was while “checking system” that the “cannot find the file” window popped up, and when I clicked “OK”, the installation window as well as the error message box, just disappeared.  What I assume was the file path was in the frame of the window, but the whole thing didn't fit so it didn't show the end.  What I could read was “C:\Users\ … \Local\Temp\7zS588E\Setup\.\Setup\hpzpnp40 …
    I found one topic on the same problem for the same model printer in the forum, which offered this fix:
    You will need to first complete a level 3 uninstall of the software. I have included the steps below for this.
    1. Press the Windows key, and the letter R
    2. Type %temp%, and click OK
    3. Open the 7z folder (most recent one if there are multiples)
    4. Open the util folder
    5. Open the ccc folder
    6. Double click on the Uninstall_L3
    Once the Uninstall_L3 has completed, please delete all items listed in the temp folder. Note, you will  not be able to to delete all items, please skip the ones that you cannot. Next please empty the trash, and perform a clean boot. I have included the document 'How to perform a clean boot in Windows'. If your computer does not request it, please restart your computer.
    Once your computer is back up, you will need to reinstall the printers software. You can either do this by using the Installation CD, or downloading the software.
    I did what was suggested, until it got to the point where it said it did not recommend removing any further items if I intended on using the HP Officejet printer (yes I have a second HP printer attached to the network) anytime in the future.  Not really understanding how this all works, I decided to stop what I was doing, so unfortunately it did not solve my problem.
    Do I need to uninstall both HP printers before I can reinstall one?  And if I do that, is there any reason I would not be able to reinstall both printers?  Sounds like I'm asking for trouble.  Bottom line... I still cannot install the driver.
    I have tried to install both the full and basic versions of the driver and always get the same result.
    I have an HP Pavilion dv6-3100t notebook, running Windows 7 Home Premium, version 6.1.7601 service pack 1, 64 bit.  I haven't installed any new hardware or software.  This printer has always had a wireless connection.  The router I use is a Netgear 54 Mbps WGR614 v6 (supplied by my cable company), and the network includes not only my notebook and the Photosmart printer, but also an ASUS desktop, another HP printer, an Officejet 6300 series (used only for printing graphics and photos with a wired connection to the router), and a Vizio smart-TV.  I use Norton 360 Premier Edition and disabled the anti-virus auto-protect when I downloaded and attempted to install the driver.
    Please help!  And thanks in advance for your time and attention.

    Sorry for late response. I fixed the issue by installing the correct version of ASP .NET 4 from

    If .NET Framework 4.5 is already installed, also run aspnet_regiis -i from C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework\v4.0.30319

    Please help. RSAT won't install on Windows 8.1 Pro. Every time I try, I get the same error - "The system cannot find the file specified.". I really don't want to have to refresh the PC to get it working! I've installed the update successfully on
    a fresh win 8.1 enterprise install on a Hyper-V VM.
    I am in uk, so have installed the en-US language pack first. I did have a windows component store corruption but I've managed to fix that.
    event log says:
    Windows update "Update for Windows (KB2693643)" could not be installed because of error 2147942402 "The system cannot find the file specified." (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe"

    CBS log (C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log): http://1drv.ms/19CAv14

    As Roger Lu reported, the log indicates that there is corruption in the update files that you downloaded. The log actually reports “file not found”, so you may also want to check permissions on the extracted files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\76ecaa86ec6712300c2d71cbcdad378c\.
    You can also re-try downloading the files to see if your original download was just corrupt.

    It was a permissions issue! Thanks so much Bruce!
    I checked the permissions for the folder mentioned above and TrustedInstaller only had List Folder Contents and Special Permissions. So I granted granted Read & Execute to TrustedInstaller and tried installing again...
    1) double clicked the installer.
    2) once it said Initialisation was complete, I checked the permissions again and it had re-set them to as before, so I granted Read & Execute to TrustedInstaller again
    3) Installation was successful.
    Not really sure why this happened as it doesn't make sense but it's working now :-)
