Pacman won't use community repository [solved, my bad]

I enabled the community section in /etc/pacman.conf, but when I so a pacman -Sy, it doesn't download from the community repo, and pacman -S commands to community packages fail.
Here's my /etc/pacman.conf file:
# /etc/pacman.conf
# See the pacman manpage for option directives
# GENERAL OPTIONS
[options]
LogFile = /var/log/pacman.log
HoldPkg = pacman glibc
#XferCommand = /usr/bin/wget --passive-ftp -c -O %o %u
# REPOSITORIES
# - can be defined here or included from another file
# - pacman will search repositories in the order defined here
# - local/custom mirrors can be added here or in separate files
# - repositories listed first will take precedence when packages
# have identical names, regardless of version number
#[testing]
#Include = /etc/pacman.d/testing
[core]
# Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
Include = /etc/pacman.d/core
[extra]
# Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
Include = /etc/pacman.d/extra
#[community]
# Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
Include = /etc/pacman.d/community
#[unstable]
# Add your preferred servers here, they will be used first
#Include = /etc/pacman.d/unstable
# An example of a custom package repository. See the pacman manpage for
# tips on creating your own repositories.
#[custom]
#Server = file:///home/custompkgs
And what I get when I do a pacman -Sy with this config:
[root@pwn etc]# pacman -Sy
:: Synchronizing package databases...
core is up to date
extra is up to date
local database is up to date
What should I do?

• [Solved] pacman won't update kernel

Hi, I create a base image that I clone to build from, it has nothing added but 'base-devel', earlier I installed an XFCE install, I went to create another from the same base image, when I install nvidia it told me in both cases that it needed a newer kernel 3.1.4, so I ran
pacman -Syu
. This morning this solves the problem, right now it states that it has nothing to update (it's made from the same image) and nvidia won't install stating it needs that upgrade. I shuffled mirrors around to see if it helped but it didn't. Anyone have an idea of why this is occurring?
thanks in advance for your help.

No, it doesn't do the upgrade, it insists there is nothing to upgrade, while the nvidia install says that there is.

• [SOLVED] Pacman won't look up gpg keys

Ever since I upgraded gnupg/gpgme today, pacman won't look up (or rather fail looking up) any missing GPG keys. Relevant part of pacman's output:
debug: checking signature for /var/cache/pacman/pkg/privoxy-3.0.19-2-i686.pkg.tar.xz
debug: 1 signatures returned
debug: fingerprint: C06086337C50773E
debug: summary: key missing
debug: status: No public key
debug: timestamp: 1328647189
debug: exp_timestamp: 0
debug: validity: unknown; reason: Success
debug: key lookup failed, unknown key
debug: signature is not valid
debug: looking up key C06086337C50773E locally
debug: key lookup failed, unknown key
error: privoxy: key "C06086337C50773E" is unknown
debug: looking up key C06086337C50773E remotely
debug: key lookup failed, unknown key
debug: looking up key 7C50773E remotely
debug: key lookup failed, unknown key
debug: gpg error: End of file
error: key "C06086337C50773E" could not be looked up remotely
error: failed to commit transaction (invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature))
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
Failing to import the key directly through pacman, I tried
pacman-key --recv-key C06086337C50773E
which successfully added the key to my keyring.
I could then install the package. I also tried switching to different keyserves, but without success.
Everything pacman{, -key} related worked fine until the update, but I can't say for certain that it was the gnupg/gpgme update that broke something.
Does anyone else have this issue or is there something wrong with my setup? I already thought of opening a bug report, but I want to make sure it's not my fault.
btw: Hi, everyone :)

This wasn't explicitly stated above, but to do the manual import with pacman-key, I had to prefix the fingerprint with 0x, as so:
$ sudo pacman-key -r 0x5C2E46A0F53A76ED
However, the default keyserver is giving me problems currently:
$ sudo pacman-key -r 0x5C2E46A0F53A76ED
Password:
gpg: requesting key F53A76ED from hkp server keys.gnupg.net
gpgkeys: HTTP fetch error 7: couldn't connect: End of file
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0
==> ERROR: Remote key not fetched correctly from keyserver.
So in the end, I used a different keyserver:
sudo pacman-key -r 0x5C2E46A0F53A76ED --keyserver hkp://subkeys.pgp.net
Hope that helps anyone else.

Looks like you are using wget as your download agent (check XferCommand in pacman.conf). wget doesn't understand file, you can either switch to curl or the internal downloader.

• Curve 9300 won't use wifi service

So I am not the first person to have this problem. I've been trawling the web searching for solutions but no-one seems to have any.
The problem is that my Curve 9300 will not use wifi connection instead of network data services. I can connect to wifi networks just fine. The phone searches the networks out, connects, puts the little icon on the home screen to say it's connected to a wifi network. It lists the name of the network up the top. Everything's great, except that when you actually go to use the internet, the phone connects to your data services instead of the wifi and you get charged for data consumption.
If you turn off the network services to try and force the phone to connect to the wifi instead, you get the error message:
"You are not currently in an area that can handle data communication. As a result, the Browser cannot retrieve any web pages. Please try again when you are in a different location, or contact your service provider if the problem persists."
To confirm:
My Data Services are on.
My APN settings are disabled.
In Advanced Options, my Default Browser Configuration is set to Hotspot browser.
In General Properties the default browser is Hotspot browser.
In Browser Configuration, the browser is set to AT&T Mobile Web. I have tried to change it to Hotspot Browser but I save the changes and leave the screen, then when I go back in to check, it's back to AT&T again. It's not saving the changes to make Hotspot the default configuration.
I did a battery pull to see if that would help and after the restart it allowed me to keep Hotspot as the default configuration but it still wouldn't connect if the mobile service was turned off. It has now reverted itself back to AT&T and still won't work.
I have read the thread on the Bold forum but for all the people complaining of having the same issue, there was still no solution. I really want a resolution to this because I do a lot of travelling and my sim card can not always connect to a local network. I want to be able to go to a local coffee shop and be able to connect, even if I don't have phone service in a foreign airport. I don't understand what the point is in having wifi on a phone if you can't use it.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

OS 6 is available for BlackBerry 9300, please log on to www.blackberry.com and download latest device software from support section, install it on your PC and then connect you device with PC using USB cable and check for device update.

Hello Experts,
We have a mapping scenario for ERP -> PI -> web service. Few details from ERP will be sent via PI to Web service.

• Pacman-defrag [obsolete - use pacman-optimize]

After dp's discovery of a simple way to speed up pacman which can be found here I've come up with this little program. It should be pretty safe because it checks for a running instance of pacman before executing and locks pacman (2>/tmp/pacman.lck) during use so it won't corrupt files. I threw in the other options because I thought they might be usefull. A log will be created as needed in the /var/log directory as pacman-defrag.log.
Move the file into /usr/bin/ , chown it root, and chmod 755.

After reboot it's still improved.
To start with, your pacman db is going to be around a similar spot on the hard drive. but over time as it changes, packages come and go and whatever, it gradually gets spread across the hard drive, with latter things ending up as far as the other end of the hard drive.
this causes the hard drive's head to have to whip back and forth between platters and all around the place.
the idea of this, is that it makes a copy, which is generally all together, or close together, so then the hard drives head doesnt have to go nuts everywhere, and it does make a difference

• Do you use test repository?

I am wondering how many users are really using test repository when upgrading. It's not the first repo by default (current will be the first).

I wanted to test evolution 2.0 but the trouble caused when trying to install, I am concluding testing is for those who plan to do it, not for "I use it when there's a specific package i want".
For one or two individual packages its fine, but not when required many dependency packages. Option -S requires to tag both current and extra thereby not accessible to install any dependency packages if required by the test package. Also option -Su doesn't work... confused by testing's own dep. packages.
I don't know if there is a way how to go around having both current and testing without having more trouble configuring pacman than doing the actual testing. :?: The testing configure in pacman has to be changed if we want to engourage users to test. Would it be possible to have in pacman script some kind of "IF and ELSE" detecting if a package is in both current/extra and testing?

My iPhone 5 won't use 3G when 4G isn't available. I live in the middle of nowhere, but with my iPhone 4 I could use the Internet on 3G just fine without needing wifi. Now I don't get anything unless I'm on wifi. My phone says '4G' but then says 'could not activate cellular data' or gives me the gray google failed because you dont have internet page. I have AT&T if that matters. I just want to get Internet and my email like I used to be able to. Slow 3G is fine with me, but I need it to work on my iPhone 5. Can anyone help me?

Oh ok, thank you! So I just got a bum SIM card when I bought this phone or something?

• How to use a repository in a new report

Hello,
I am starting to learn OBIEE and installed it in my home environment. I installed OBIEE, and used the RCU to install a repository in an Oracle database.
Then, I used the BI Administration tool to make a 'repository' which connects to my data (also in an Oracle database).
In the BI Administration tool I now have a physical layer, a business model and mapping, and a presentation layer. I saved this as a rpd file on my harddisk.
Then, in the Oracle BIEE Home I choose 'New report'. But I cannot find how I can choose my 'repository' with my data. I also tried to make a new datamodel, but here I am also not able to choose my repository.
How can I connect to my data in a report ? How does it work ?
Many thanks in advance,
Best Regards,
André.

You are totally getting Confused..
Have these understanding first.
You have DB installed.
You will create schema(Two users) in DB using RCU(Repository Creation Utility:Basically stores metadata required for OBIEE).
You will install OBIEE and use these schema there.
Above installation installs weblogic and then deploy BI files to weblogic to make them work. You should remember weblogic password.
Now when you open up Admin tool --Repository password should be 'Admin123' (A in capital) and username is weblogic and password should be weblogic password.
You will be able to open up the RPD in online mode.
I suggest you to first go through the Architecture of OBIEE and then start installation and start exercises.
mark correct or helpfull if it helps. Also let me know if you were able to open RPD and answers.

• MBP won't use full external display

Hello,
I got home today, turned on my computer while connected to an external monitor and all of a sudden, my MBP (13", late 2011) won't use the whole display. Instead the screen is squashed and i got two black gaps on either side of the monitor. The resolution is set to 1920*1080 as always, so that isn't the problem. Also, when I set the monitor to all other resolutions, it stretches all the way out, it's only on 1080 it doesn't work even though 1920*1080 should fill out the whole screen, while some of the other resolutions shouldn't. I have the displays set to extend, so the MBP's display is set to 1280*800 as usually, and everything functions perfectly on both displays except for the gaps.
I've tried closing the lid and playing around with the external monitor itself, but I get the same results. I've also reset the PRAM and SMC; same thing.
I can also add that on the Windows part (Boot Camp installed) it just plain won't recognize the external display at all. Everything worked this morning...
Thanks in advance!

Wow, excuse me, figured it didn't matter much, given that is has worked flawlessly before. Just figured it was a software issue. Anywho, external monitor is an Acer P246H 24" I believe.
I have tried the detect displays too, and I've also tried and see whether it was the monitor tuning in weirdly on the resolution, but it doesn't even have an option to squash the image, only move it side to side.
Since it is a plug and play screen, and it has worked before, I figure it will work again, if there is someway to reset the drivers and make the computer reset it's external display settings so that it will just recognize the display as a new one the next time it is plugged in? The WIndows and OS X problem happened on the exact same time though (after i rebooted from Windows into OS X after not being able to connect, the resolution problem came).

When they un-upgrade iPhoto email templates? Along with Apple Maps, another software I won't use anymore.

You can go back by restoreing your backup of the iPhoto library from the previous version a installing the previous version for its original source
Of course I use iPhoto - and I have not idea what
Do you use iPhoto? What version are you using and have you sent photos using it from the iPhoto and used the older templates?
means
one last time if you want help you have to start by being percise and shaing information - for example "older version" is of no help since there are 40 or 50 older versions
again
Sorry but if you have a question then you need to provide information - what are you talking about? What version of iPhoto and what OS version do you have? What upgrade are you talking about? what e-mail client are you using?

• You have popunders for Firefox 4 and I can't block them. I won't use the browser at all until this problem is fixed. leland.dobbs@ucsf.edu

I have all popups blocked, but can't prevent the Firefox 4 informational one, which is very annoying. See above. I need a solution to this or I won't use Firefox anymore.

Is it the "you just upgraded" page appearing in a new window? That is not supposed to appear after the first time. This article can help with troubleshooting the problem: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20has%20just%20updated%20tab%20shows%20each%20time%20you%20start%20Firefox Firefox has just updated tab shows each time you start Firefox | Troubleshooting | Firefox Help].
If it is some other page, you may have malware or a very poorly behaved add-on. Can you post the URL of the pop-under?
