Page menubar with/without javascript
Hello All,
I have a basic question. I am designing a website, where the same spry menubar will be at the top of every page. And each page of the site will have that same menu. Now, as time goes, that menubar will change here, and there. I wanted to know, is there any way I can create this setup without having to copy/paste all the menubar info on every page. This wouldn't be a problem if it was a one time deal, but as changes are made to the menubar, EVERY page will have to be updated. Is there a way around this, not using javascript (of course I can make a function to write directly to the page and call that on each individual page)? Please let me know. If this question is unclear, please ask me to clarify whatever is unclear.

Efficiently setting up and maintaining repetitive sitewide content (headers, footers, navbars, sidebars, banners etc) is an issue faced by all web designers.
Some use Dreamweaver Templates and Library items.
However, the best solution by far is to set up repetitive content as a Server Side Include (SSI), as Nancy mentions.
SSIs are a generic web technology (not a Dreamweaver feature) implemented slightly differently on different web servers. But the end result is the same.

Once you've added the Include code (single line) to each page of your website, you can forget about updating each individual page. All you then update is a tiny file containing a HTML fragment and upload that file to your server. For example, a Spry menu bar implemented as an SSI is reduced to a simple unordered HTML list.
Note that SSIs can be used for any repetitive page elements and you can set up as many SSIs per page as you like (5 or 6 per page is not uncommon).
Note: There is a tiny performance hit on the server whenever an Include is called in the page code. Each Include in the code asks the server to perform a task, such as finding another file, before sending the page to the browser but I've never found Includes to adversely affect any pages download times because I use so few per page.

I have a number of threaded text frames, and I want each text frame to end with a certain word.
Example: "The cow jumped over the moon, and ate the cheese." I want page #1 to end with the word "jumped," page #2 to end with the word "moon," and page three to end with "cheese." I want all the frames to be the same size and all text to be the same size. The text will be justified.
Do you have any ideas?

You cannot. There will be nothing left. iWeb pages rely a lot on JavaScript.
Use a template from Mail.app. Or create such template. These are simple TABLES and have no JavaScript in it.
Do Cmd-Shift-G in the finder and type :
/Library/Application Support/Apple/Mail/Stationery/Apple/Contents/Resources/
Open one of the folders and open each successive folder until you see files like Picnic.mailstationery.
Right-click to show the package content.
Then navigate thru Contents, Resources until you see the files and images you need.
Edit them to your hearts content.
Double-click the file Picnic.mailstationery and it will open in Mail.app for further processing. -

The only way of passing vars from JS to page attributes is submitting them via (hidden) values in a form or via params in an URL.
Alternatively, you can try to let JS store things in a client cookie and let the BSP read that cookie.
I didn't try that out yet though.

Create Portal Page Design with Dynamic content in Moss2007(without using Visual Studio)
Hi All,
I am facing a issue while designing a page in MOSS 2007. I can't use custom code as the client doesn't want it to be used.
The page is with dynamic content coming from sharepoint lists and picture library. I tried using SharePoint Listview after adding zones as per my page design..but was unsuccessful because I am unable to change its design and css styles in its xslt view.
Plesae help me to find any alternative so that I can easily style my page with the dynamic content. Is there any way using Content editor webparts? Can we get List data in Content editor html as this can be easily styled. I googled and tried it by using javascript
and jquery but again unsuccessful.
Please help me with some solution.

Copied page has resulted in javascript not working
I have a page 6 that works great with its javascript functions in the HTML Header.
I wanted to try some different things on the page without messing up the master, so I copied page 6 to page 2006. The page definition's HTML Header code for page 2006 looks just like the page 6 page definition's HTML Header code.
However, when I run page 2006, my javascript functions do not work. NOTE: The javascript functions are simple and mainly show and hide functions for fields.
I used the copy wizard in Apex 3.0.
Does anyone have an idea what might have happened? Or is there a better way to copy a page?

You were right. Inside my javascript functions I had forgotten to change the code to reflect the items on page 2006 (i.e. P2006_NAP_ID instead of P6_NAP_ID).
So now everything is good there. Thank you.
I have another question though.....why would my new page's CREATE button not work properly after the page copy? I checked and compared the P2006 CREATE button and its Branch that returns to same page with the P6 CREATE button and its Branch. And it looks like it is correct. However, when I click the P2006 CREATE button, the data is submitted to database and an id is made for the new record; but, when the page refreshes after the submit, all of the fields are blank. There are no values displayed. It is in a state of being ready for a new record to be created.
What have I lost? Can you tell me what I should check out?

Unknown problem with JSP, JavaScript - Pls help

I am facing a strange problem. Explained it below. Kindly help me as it is really affecting my work. Thanks in advance.
I am working on building a web application using jsp, servlet, ejb. the IDE used is WSAD 5.1.2.
I have the below :
1 JSP - Input page - for user input entry
2. Java script1 - For all client side validations
Java script2 - For handling the data submission to servlet (as selected by user)
Javascript3 - Header & Menu Bar
3 Servlet - This actually retrieves the values from the hidden parameters, sets them in session and redirects the control back to the jsp.
Logic for one small iteration : Two drop downs are there. On selecting the first drop down the second drop down should be populated and the first drop down should display the user selected value.
1. When the user selects the first drop down onchange() event gets fired which calls a method in the javascript.
2. In the javascript I set the value of a hidden form field to the selected combo index and submit the form to the servlet
3. In the servlet, I retrieve the hidden request parameter (Index),
set the index in session. Do my business logic based on the value of the index. Set the collection (to be displayed) in second drop down in session.
4. Send the response back to the JSP.
5. In the JSP, we have a method which is called during the onload() event of the body
6. This method sets the user selected values in appropriate controls(by taking from session)
Problem faced: I have a javascript which creates the menu bar for my application and this i've included it in my jsp. I dont know whats wrong with this javascript, when it is commented out the page works perfectly fine. Both the user selected value and the collection are loaded exactly as expected. But when it is included the collection is loaded in the second drop down but the selected index of the first drop down is not set - the drop down gets reset to the default value.
Also on body load of my jsp, I call a javascript method which sets the current date in one text field of my form. Even this is not working fine when I include this javascript. I don't see any script error in this javascript in my browser though. Strange but guess something basic :(
I'm sure there is nothing to do with session. I've tried printing the entire flow. The Servlet sets the values correctly in session and they are also correctly available in the JSP page. The JSP also gets loaded with the user selected values but something happens on page load which clears the values to default.
Am also confused in what way javascript is related to this, coz when I remove it things are working fine.
Am really helpless here pls do the needful. any help is appreciated.

I´m recently working with OAF and the main server are in Argetina, so when I try to make a deploy to check the development it takes a lot of time. Is there a way to make a preview of the pages (Something like the visual designer of netbeans )

Possible to use menuBar with task flow based ADF menus?

I've just worked through the " [Create ADF Menus for Page Navigation|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/11/cuecards111/adf_set_43/ccset43_ALL.html] " tutorial. It shows how to create menus based on your task flows.
My question: is it possible to use the af:menuBar with these menu models (instead of navigationPanes or breadcrumbs) ?
I am using JDev 11g 11.1.1.1.0

The XML menu model extends the Trinidad TreeModel, which extends Collection model. This allows you to access the hierarchical menu structure so that you can use af:iterator to build a structure to display in a af:menuBar

Page document with audio file not sent by email
Hello and blessed Christmas to everybody.
Here is my problem.
I created a pages documents with images and an audio file from iTunes inside.
Sharing it by Mail, (and converting it in PDF so that anybody without pages be able to open it) I see that the audio file is not present or not playing inside my mail.
Is this because of the conversion in PDF?
But I'm afraid of PC user not being able to see it if I let it in Pages.

Help converting pages document with images over to a 300 dpi jpg file

I'm pretty new to using Pages. I have created a 4 page Pages document with a lot of iphoto images. It's for a elementary school yearbook. The publisher ulitmately needs a 300 dpi jpg file.
How do I convert the pages document into a 300 dpi jpg?
I tried to convert it first to a pdf then to a 300 dpi jpg but when I sent that file over, they said that when they zoomed in, the images all looked blurry.
Any ideas on what to do without having to start all over again? Worst case, I guess I can print out in best quality, scan and save as jpg but there's got to be an easier way.
I'm not a graphic designer, just trying to fuddle my way through so you'll have to go easy on me with the techno speak. Any cliff notes for mac beginners?
Thanks much in advance for any help!The conversion isn't perfect between Pages and Word. The same font is handle differently in the two applications and so are many other things too. If you are concerned about how it looks use Pdf versions instead.

Reports included in the page keep looping without retrieving any results
We are facing an issue related to the behaviour of Siebel Analytics when more than 1 answer are included in a dashboard page. When a report is generated, the other reports included in the page keep looping without retrieving any results, but if I manually click on 'cancel' link, the reports successfully appear with consistent data. This behaviour is not stable since sometimes the page works fine, sometimes not, but it's not clear what it depends on. Can anybody please let me know if this behaviour is a known bug.
