Page number sizes.

When combining multiple files to PDF in Acrobat Pro, how can the page sizes be kept consistent, so that the page number sizes don't change when printing the resulting PDF?

Is your question -
combining pdf's with letter size, A4 size and legal size pages
you want all pages to adopt to one page size? Letter, A4, Legal, ?
Acrobat is designed with page size flexibility. There are hack methods to accomplish resizing, what is the desired result, beyond a common page size?

  • Changing page number sizes

    I need to change the font size of the page numbers in my 300+ page document in the CS4 version of Indesign. The page numbers were created automatically, but without the use of a master text frame (it was started in the CS3 version, which I understand doesn't have that feature). Is there a way to automatically change the font size of all the page numbers at once? This would be preferable to going through and editing them manually.

    Even in the original master (titled A)  I can't select the number marker. I can only select the 'A' that sits in place where the number would be on a regular page, and changing that doesn't affect the other numbers in the document even if I try to 'apply master to pages'.
    Sadie, here's the way it works. If you start with one master page Called A-Master, make a text frame and place an automatic page number placeholder in it, it will look like the letter A on the master page, and will be replaced by the page number on the document page. You can't select or change the number on the document page unless you detach the text frame from the master page on the document page by clicking on it while holding shift and command. Once detached from the master, the text frame will act the same as if you had created it on the document page, so things like moving or changing the placeholder on the master page will no longer update on that document page.
    If you make another master page called B-Master and base it on A-Master, the existing page number marker on the B-Master will also read as A since it is a copy of what was on the A-Master. If you made a second marker on the B-Master, it would have a B instead of an A. If you were to detach the copy of the text frame on the B-Master from the A-Master, it will change from an A to a B, and you will be able to edit it, but just like the link from the master page to the detached document page, the link from the A-Master to the B-Master will be broken, so updating the A-Master will no longer update on the B-Master.
    So, to do what you want, you can either change the placeholder on the A-Master and it will change there, on any masters that were based on A, and on all document pages that were based on A or the masters based on A. If you don't want to do that, detach the text frame on the B-Master and it will update on all of the document pages based on B-Master, but all those based on A-Master will remain the same.
    Does that help, or did I give you too much info?

  • How do you change the page number position on the page and size?

    I am having difficulty changing the size/color/position of the page number in the book?  Does anyone know how to do this?
    thanx.

    Yes, you can change the position. Do it in Master Layouts. Select the page number - a red box appears around it - select: left, center, or right justification. That will move it within the box. To move the box on the page, just drag the box to where you want it. - Fabe

  • JavaScript To Page Number Certain Size Documents

    Hi guys,
    I'm fairly new to JavaScript and can't figure out how to write this code.  Essentially, I want to write a code that adds page numbers to the bottom left of a document only if the page size is NOT 9x11 inches. Is this possible to do?
    I was thinking it would be some sort of loop to add the page numbers with and if statement to only number the page if the size does not equal 9x11 inches.
    Also, I would need to insert the page number 1/4 inch from the bottom and 1/4 inch from the left.
    Thanks,
    MJ

    Uhm... because I never noticed that option before! hehe. Jeez.
    Gilad, thx much. That's exactly what I was looking to accomplish.
    (An aside: trying to find a specific Adobe solution or function isn't very easy. I always search the forums, the documentation, and Google before posting any question here. Seems like there are so many features in every product that change so frequently that finding even a simple answer is a challenge...)

  • Print tpage number/total page number in a report with width more than 240

    Dear all,
    I need to display total page number as following code sample.
    But I need to put it after position 240.
    this program can print total page number if   it is placed at postion 239 or before.

    Whenever I put  240 or more WRITE: /234(10) 'Heading',  240 SY-PAGNO,'of ', '-----'.
    Total page num could not be displayed.
    Please tell me the solution.

            REPLACE '-----' WITH L_PAGE_COUNT INTO SY-LISEL.
            MODIFY CURRENT LINE.
        ENDDO.

    Using Values Greater than 255 for the LINE-SIZE of a List
    If you define a fixed column width greater than 255 using the LINE-SIZE addition in the REPORT or NEW-PAGEstatement, the following notes apply:
    Type definitions: The type group SLIST defines the valid maximum value for the list width (SLIST_MAX_LINESIZE), and contains a type for list lines with maximum width (SLIST_MAX_LISTLINE).
    Accessing the entire contents of a line: To read or modify the entire contents of a wide line, you can use the ... LINE VALUE addition in the READ LINE or MODIFY LINE statements. This is an alternative to using SY-LISEL that is independent of the attributes of the system field (since the length of SY-LISEL is 255 characters).
    Horizontal lines: With extra-wide lists, the "ULINE." statement corresponds to "WRITE / SY-ULINE.". So, for example, "ULINE AT 5(300)." corresponds to "WRITE AT 5(300) SY-ULINE.".
    Output length: You can use the length specification in WRITE (or ULINE) to extend the output length of an extra-wide list up to the value of LINE-SIZE. If you want to output a whole field that is longer than 255 characters, you must use this, even if the field itself is defined as longer than 255 characters.
    Example
    NEW-PAGE LINE-SIZE 1000.
    DATA: F1(500) VALUE 'F1'.
    WRITE: /      F1 COLOR COL_NORMAL.  " Output with length 255
    WRITE: /(500) F1 COLOR COL_NORMAL.  " Output with length 500

  • Can you give inserted pages a unique page number in Acrobat?

    Example:
    I have a pdf with 100 pages of various documents arranged in chronological order and numbered 1-100 ('The Bundle')
    I have written separate document which make reference to various page numbers in the pdf. ('The Referring Document')
    I then get another 2 page pdf  ('The Insert') which I want to insert in the Bundle so it remains in chronological order. Let's say I will need to insert it after page 47.
    I do not want to renumber the Bundle 1-102 after I have put in The Insert as this will mean that the page numbers in the Referring Document will have to be edited to take into account that all the page numbers after page 47 are now different.
    What I would like to do is to renumber The Insert: 47a and 47b. This means that the inserted pages have unique page identifiers and I do not have to edit all the pages in the Referring Document.
    Question:
    Is it possible to automate page numbering for Inserts in the way described above in Adobe Acrobat? The example above describes a simple situation. The reality is that there can be many inserts with many pages to each of them.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi ,
    Try this and see if this helps.
    1. Tools - Pages - Edit Page Design - Header & Footer - Add Header & Footer.
    2. Select the font and size, etc, place the cursor on the appropriate site to insert the page number, click the "Insert Page Number" button, and click OK.
    Or you can choose the following option as well.
    You can effortlessly add page numbers in PDF document and insert numbers in PDF files with the help of PDF Bates Numbering tool. This application is more beneficial for forensic experts and professionals.

  • Index file increase with no corresponding increase in block numbers or Pag file size

    Hi All,
    Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and/or can help explain why it is happening....
    I have a BSO cube fronted by a Hyperion Planning app, in version 11.1.2.1.000
    The cube is in it's infancy, but already contains 24M blocks, with a PAG file size of 12GB.  We expect this to grow fairly rapidly over the next 12 months or so.
    After performing a simple Agg of aggregating sparse dimensions, the Index file sits at 1.6GB.
    When I then perform a dense restructure, the index file reduces to 0.6GB.  The PAG file remains around 12GB (a minor reduction of 0.4GB occurs).  The number of blocks remains exactly the same.
    If I then run the Agg script again, the number of blocks again remains exactly the same, the PAG file increases by about 0.4GB, but the index file size leaps back to 1.6GB.
    If I then immediately re-run the Agg script, the # blocks still remains the same, the PAG file increases marginally (less than 0.1GB) and the Index remains exactly the same at 1.6GB.
    Subsequent passes of the Agg script have the same effect - a slight increase in the PAG file only.
    Performing another dense restructure reverts the Index file to 0.6GB (exactly the same number of bytes as before).
    I have tried running the Aggs using parallel calcs, and also as in series (ie single thread) and get exactly the same results.
    I figured there must be some kind of fragmentation happening on the Index, but can't think of a way to prove it.  At all stages of the above test, the Average Clustering Ratio remains at 1.00, but I believe this just relates to the data, rather than the Index.
    After a bit of research, it seems older versions of Essbase used to suffer from this Index 'leakage', but that it was fixed way before 11.1.2.1.
    I also found the following thread which indicates that the Index tags may be duplicated during a calc to allow a read of the data during the calc;
    http://www.network54.com/Forum/58296/thread/1038502076/1038565646/index+file+size+grows+with+same+data+-
    However, even if all the Index tags are duplicated, I would expect the maximum growth of the Index file to be 100%, right?  But I am getting more than 160% growth (1.6GB / 0.6GB).
    And what I haven't mentioned is that I am only aggregating a subset of the database, as my Agg script fixes on only certain members of my non-aggregating sparse dimensions (ie only 1 Scenario & Version)
    The Index file growth in itself is not a problem.  But the knock-on effect is that calc times increase - if I run back-to-back Aggs as above, the 2nd Agg calc takes 20% longer than the 1st.  And with the expected growth of the model, this will likely get much worse.
    Anyone have any explanation as to what is occurring, and how to prevent it...?
    Happy to add any other details that might help with troubleshooting, but thought I'd see if I get any bites first.
    The only other thing I think worth pointing out at this stage is that we have made the cube Direct I/O for performance reasons. I don't have much prior exposure to Direct I/O so don't know whether this could be contributing to the problem.
    Thanks for reading.

    I haven't tried Direct I/O for quite a while, but I never got it to work properly. Not exactly the same issue that you have, but it would spawn tons of .pag files in the past. You might try duplicating your cube, changing it to buffered I/O, and run the same processes and see if it does the same thing.

  • How to change the page number of the existing PDF during assembling?

    Hi All,
           I am going to assemble two PDF's. Both the PDF's are having page no. So i am assembling two pdf's using invokeDDX method. I am setting page number in the DDX. Assembled PDF is having both the page no's, old page no and the newly generated page no. How to get ride of the old page no? If one PDF is of 2 pages and other PDF is of 3 pages.It should show only 1 of 5,2 of 5,.....5 of 5. It showing this along with 1 of 3,...3 of 3.
    Thanks in  advance.

    Hi
    Please declare the line count for report page length.
    When you do not declare it is taken as default 0 and this is dynamic page lenght of SAP ( limit is 60,000 lines).
    Use statement REPORT <rep> LINE-COUNT <length> [(<pf>)].
    Where <length> is line count. Use as per your requirement. <pf> is line reserved for footer if you require.
    Additional you can use LINE-SIZE <width> to determine width of page.
    Please reward if helpful.

  • Reset page number to '1 ' for each box of packing list in sap script

    hi Gurus,
    I am running a packing list for delivery note . Many boxes spread across more than one page. I Need to print page number in Packing list for each box like 1 of 2 , 2 of 2. In the new page for next box , I need to print 1 of 1, 2 of 2. and goes on.
    can you suggest a method to achieve this in script.
    thanks,

    Hi,
    Could you give me the reply for following question?
    1. Are the boxes changing depends on the data? or static size? How many boxes would be displayed in a page?
    2. Is it your own driver program / standard one?
    3. Suppose if you have 5 pages and having 10 boxes, 2 boxes for each page, then do you need to display like,
    >1 of 1 on 1st box on 1st page
    >2 of 1 on 2nd box on 1st page
    >1 of 2 on 1st box on 2nd page
    >2 of 2 on 2nd box on 2nd page
    >....
    Is it so?
    Once i get these details then I will let u know the way....:)

  • How do I change the placement of the page number in the footer?

    Hi,
    I am using Framemaker 8.  I am making some adjustments to the master pages.  For example, I've made the margins more narrow.  I have a footer that has a line above it.  The page number in the footer should be in line with the end of this line (the page number should be just below the end of the line above it), but now it is not.  How can I move the page number over so that it is lined up with the line above it?
    Thank you for your help!
    Erin

    Erin,
    The surefire technique that I use is to open the master page and select the text box you want to adjust by using Ctrl+left mouse click.
    Then right click and select Object Properties to open the Custom Text Frame box. Adjust the width, height, top, and bottom values to set the size and position of the box precisely and then click Set. If you have several master pages for different purposes, this technique ensures that all similar text boxes are positioned accurately.
    For the text box containing your footer, click on the text inside the text frame and right align it by selecting the Text Alignment button in the toolbar and selecting Right for right-justified.
    If it doesn't line up with the end of your bottom rule, open the Custom Text Frame box and adjust the left and top settings.
    Yours,
    Michael F

  • Page Number Display

    Hi Gurus,
    How can i print page numbers in standard report ( FAGLL03 ) which is not available now?
    I can use sy-pagno , but where exactly i need to add that , i tested the report by adding the code in end-of-page but i didnt get the output correctly . Can u kindly tell me the solution .
    Waiting for ur reply ....
    Regards
    Srinath

    Hi,
    END-OF-PAGE
    This event occurs if, while processing a list page, the system reaches the lines reserved for the page footer, or if the RESERVE statement triggers a page break. Fill the lines of the page footer in the processing block following the event keyword END-OF-PAGE:
    Syntax
    END-OF-PAGE.
    WRITE: ....
    The system only processes the processing block following END-OF-PAGE if you reserve lines for the footer in the LINE-COUNT option of the REPORT statement.
    Try like this:
    REPORT demo_list_end_of_page LINE-SIZE 40 LINE-COUNT 6(2)
    NO STANDARD PAGE HEADING.
    TOP-OF-PAGE.
    WRITE: 'Page with Header and Footer'.
    ULINE AT /(27).
    END-OF-PAGE.
    ULINE.
    WRITE: /30 'Page', sy-pagno.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
    DO 6 TIMES.
    WRITE / sy-index.
    ENDDO.
    This program consists of three processing blocks. The standard page header is turned off. The page length is set to six lines, where two of them are reserved for the page footer.
    The list consists of three pages of six lines each. Each page is made up of the self-defined two-line page header, of two lines of actual list, and of a two-line page footer. The current page number displayed in the page footer comes from the SY-PAGNO system field.

  • How to setAction  and make a bookmark linked to a page number?

    I am writing a vbscript...
    set ADoc=CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
    ADoc.Open   "D:\aaa.pdf"
    set BMark = ADoc.GetPDDoc.GetJSObject.BookMarkRoot
    BMS= BMark.Children
    MsgBox     BMS(0).name
    Now i want to give BMS(0) a link to the page number 11.
    Is "setAction" can do this?
    How?

    click file/publish settings/html and use the quality settings dropdown.
    if that doesn't lead to satisfactory file size, you may need to check the properties of each bitmap in the library to see if it's set to over-ride the global settings.

  • Can't see 'white' colored page number on colored object/paper

    I am using Pages '09 (v 4.3) and am having a devil of a time trying to get a 'white colored' page number to show up over a colored object that is streched over the sheet/paper to provide a color background. The problem seems limited to only when I want to use white, as any other color in the palette will show (assuming that there is enough contrast between the background color and selected page number color). I'm seeing this problem in a sheet where I want to use a black background with white text in the body (no issue there) and a white colored page number. Anyone else seen this? Or perhaps I have missed something simple?

    Peter -
    Is it there when you zoom in? No amount of zoom or lack thereof changes the situaiton.
    Is it there if you increase its point size? Nope.
    Is it there if you change the font? Nope.
    Have you tried using white from the Color Picker? Yes, no matter how white is selected the end result is the same.
    What is the Opacity of the text in the Graphic Inspector? Text does not have an opacity option/selection. Perhaps you are asking what the Opacity is of the solid color I am trying to set as the background, in which case it is 100%.

    I figured it out thanks any way
    If anyone looking for a solution for the same issue
    he solution is as follows
    create 3 numeric fields in the header of the table
    total
    counter 1
    counter 2
    the total is to count the number of pages of each document
    in initialization event
    total = total + 1 ;
    the counter 1 is to make the counter of the pages from 0 to total (invisible)
    in calculate event
    if ( counter 1 < total ) then
    counter 1 = counter 1 + 1 .
    elseif( counter 1 >= total ) then
    counter 1 = 1
    counter 2 to show the page number of the document
    in layout ready
    counter 2 = 1
    in calculate event
    counter 2 = counter 1 + 1
    Note: this is the logic with little modification create the code

  • Modify width of rectangle based on page number in InDesign via Javascript

    I have a rectangle called `pageBar` on my master page !
    I would like to create a script that will automatically resize the width of the rectangle based on the page number.
    Something like : `width = 1280 * (pageNumber / pageTotal)`
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    J.

    Here's the script I ended up with. I'm a bit unhappy that I ended up having the literal string "pageBar" in it twice. The second instance is there to allow the script to be run on the same document twice -- that's one of the prices you pay for using master page items in a script rather than creating objects on the fly and applying an object style to them (better than setting selected properties):
    //DESCRIPTION: Size PageBar on each page
    (function() {
              if (app.documents.length > 0) {
                        sizePageBars(app.documents[0]);
              return;
    function sizePageBars(aDoc) {
              var pageBar = getMasterItem(aDoc, "pageBar");
              if (pageBar == null) return;
              // walk through the document's pages and deal with each page
              var theMaster = pageBar.parent;
              var numPages = aDoc.pages.length;
              for (var j = numPages - 1; j >= 0; j--) {
                        if (theMaster == aDoc.pages[j].appliedMaster) { // ignore pages with other masters
                                  processPage(aDoc.pages[j]);
              function processPage(page) {
                        // numPages, pageBar and j are visible as global variables in this function
                        // caculate desired width
                        var desiredHalfWidth = 1280 * (j + 1)/(numPages * 2); // j starts at zero;
                        // could be running script for a second time, so check to see if page already has pageBar on it
                        var bar = page.rectangles.item("pageBar");
                        if (bar == null) {
                                  var bar = pageBar.override(page);
                        var pBounds = bar.geometricBounds;
                        var xCenter = (pBounds[3] + pBounds[1])/2;
                        pBounds[1] = xCenter - desiredHalfWidth;
                        pBounds[3] = xCenter + desiredHalfWidth;
                        bar.geometricBounds = pBounds;
              function getMasterItem(aDoc, name) {
                        var appliedMaster = aDoc.pages[0].appliedMaster;
                        var anItem = appliedMaster.rectangles.item(name);
                        if (anItem == null) {
                                  alert("Couldn't locate 'pageBar' rectangle.");
                        return anItem;
    I was going to introduce to the resize method, but that would have first meant understanding it myself. The description in the object model viewer is a masterful demonstration of how not to communicate complicated information.
    So I did a web search and found myself on this page by Marc Autret: http://www.indiscripts.com/post/2013/05/indesign-scripting-forum-roundup-4
    Search that page for resize and you'll see what I mean. Compared to the simple manipulation of geometric bounds, using resize is a nightmare of complexity. Marc has simplified it by providing a function you can call, but I decided to just go with using the bounds.
    I hope this proves helpful to you.
    Dave
