Page Orientation wrong when Paper Width is greater than Height

This is ridiculous.  I have been trying to get this bug fixed for a very long time.  I was told it was fixed in FP2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6, 2.8, and now 2.9.  See topic:  Custom Paper Size & Orientation Problem.  Other topics also talk about this problem.
I purchased a support issue (order 4239646711) to get help back in March 2010.  I believe it was closed as fixed in 2.6 without a programmer ever seeing it.  I did get to speak to a couple of guys in India in the middle of their night.
This problem is simple but causes much trouble when printing labels on a label printer.  I'm trying to print a 3 inch wide by 1 inch high label on a spool.  I've done this for years with Crystal 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11.  I have thousands of users and I'm telling them all to stay with Crystal 10 or Crystal 11 because you won't fix this problem.
I need a fix in the CR 2008 Runtime.
THE PROBLEM:  If the page size is wider than it is high, CR 2008 forces the Orientation to Landscape even though the report says Portrait.

I don't believe this is related to the printer driver but I'm using a Datamax E-4203 - Seagull Driver: Datamax DPL Driver Version 7.1.8.  The same driver works fine with Crystal 11 and Crystal 10.
I'm not sure if this is a Custom Paper size but it is not the default paper for the printer.  I have selected it from about 30 paper sizes that the driver shows (it's in about the middle of the list).  I have never tried to change the paper size in my program  - I always use the default paper that has been set in the driver.
I don't believe the problem is in my code because your viewer has the same trouble.  The label displays perfectly on the screen but if you hit the print button, it's flipped landscape and prints sideways.
Ask your developer to look at this code:
The u201CQueryPageSettingsEventHandleru201D (among others) was added after CR11.5, and it has some code that basically looks for a width > height, and sets the orientation to Landscape. The method u201CQueryPageSettingsu201D is what causes all the headache.
public static void QueryPageSettings(QueryPageSettingsEventArgs e, PageObject page)
if (page == null)
e.Cancel = true;
else
e.PageSettings.Landscape = page.PageOrientation == PaperOrientation.Landscape;

  • Is it possible to make a calculated field only appear when the result is greater than 0?

I am using Adobe Acrobat X Standard.  I have created a form that has caculated fields.  However, the fields always show the "$0.00" when it doesnt have anything to calculate.  I would only like a result to appear in this field when the result is greater than 0.  Is this possible?

The use of currency and percentage signs always behave this way since the display format is a character string and not a plain number.
You will have to use some custom JavaScript in the Custom JS calculation, the custom format format, or the validation script.
There is not a lot of documentation for this, but Acrobat JavaScripting Guide Version 6 has some infromation about usin the AFNumber_Format built-in function.
If your users are using version 8 or below, you will need to adjust the format of the field.

  • Schedule line getting confirmed when Ordered Quanity is greater than stock.

    Hi Sap Gurus,
We have an issue in one of the sales scenario.
In one of the sales orders the ordered quanity is purposely maintained greater than the stock at respective storage location(batch managed).
In this case the schedule line should not get confirmed and it should not allow delivery document creation.
But in the sales order the schedule lines are geeting confirmed and even the delivery document is getting created with picking request completion.
Could you please help to understand :
    1.  why the schedule lines are getting confirmed when ordered quantity > Inventory?
    2. How do I stop delivery document creaton in this scenario?
    Looking for a quick response.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Bhaskar,
Is Availability Check in your system considering Replenishment Lead time, if yes, then this is possible.
    Check this IMG Link:
IMG - Sales and Distribution - Basic Functions - Availability Check and Transfer of Requirements - Availability Check with ATP Logic or Against Planning - Carry Out Control For Availability Check
    Here check the RLT settings.
Also check settings under In/Outward Movements, where things like include Purchase Order can lead to confirmation of stock in Sales Order, despite physical inventory being present.
    Hope this helps,

  • Page numbering wrong when exporting to pdf

I have a 340-page book, broken into about 40 chapters.  The chapters are set as the start of a section, and there are no section changes inside the chapters.  Theoretically, the pages should number consecutively throughout the book -- and they do, in InDesign 5.5.  But when I export to pdf, they get all screwed up.
For instance, the page numbers in Chapter 6 start correctly at #27, but the following pages are numbered like this:  28, 29, 28, 29, 28, 29, 30.  The last page number should be 35, not 30.
This happens sporadically throughout the book.
I've checked to be sure each chapter has only one section, and that page numbering is set consecutively.  In ID, all the page numbers are in order.  But once they get exported to pdf, they go crazy.
    Thanks............

Peter:  My reply above to John kind of overlaps this reply, so it might be well for you to read that, too.  You'll find there a whole list of problems I had with CS4; going back is not the answer.
I agree that one problem is that I don't have extensive experience with ID.  But I'm living on an extremely limited income, and I hoped the Creative Suite would help alleviate that.  I has done that; it has also added a great deal of frustration.  I don't have a huge IT budget to draw from.  The original outlay for CS4 was an extreme reach for me, and I didn't really have the funds for an upgrade.   How I would love to spend a few thousand dollars to fly to Pittsburgh or New York and spend a week or so immersed in an Adobe workshop!  Unfortunately, I live on a small town without such resources.  I have watched as many videos as I could find, and I have gone through several step-by-step books.  But you're right:  hands-on experience is necessary, and I'm scrambling to learn as much as I can as quickly as I can.
I would imagine you're right, too, when you say that bugs are inevitable in a complex program.  What I have trouble understanding is why they aren't fixed, especially considering the price of the program.  The problem with internal hyperlinks not working in epubs has been a known issue for some time, and according to one Adobe expert's post, the developers' attitude has been more or less, "Yep, that's a problem, all right."  But it hasn't been fixed.
Not only am I working on a limited budget, but I have made promises to clients I haven't been able to keep.  It's frustrating when clients are screaming, "Where's my book?" and I'm fighting with "known ID issues."  One novel was supposed to have been published in early October.  I was all ready to finalize it when I noticed the page numbering problem.  I feel I have spent far too much time chasing ID program bugs -- and I don't get paid for posting requests for help in the forums.
In reference to the internal hyperlink problem, I have attempted to "crack open the epub and do some fixing."  If that would work, I would have no problem; I know HTML.  But after I "rezipped" the files,  I couldn't read the result in any epub reader. I'd like to know how Ms. Castro puts its back together after cracking it open.  Perhaps it can be done with a Mac; as far as I know, it can't be done on a PC without oXygen, yet another expensive program I can't afford.   (However, after going to her website, I have decided I need to buy her book.  Thanks for that tip!)
I do appreciate your help, and I apologize for getting so impatient.  I hope you and the other moderators will be patient with me.  I'm working hard to learn as fast and as much as I can and sometimes the frustration gets overwhelming.

  • Photo orientation wrong when synched back to iPhone

    Hi,
I take photos on my iPhone, then I put them into a folder and I keep that folder synched to the iPhone. That folder contains other photos from my Nikon cameras too.
Mostly all the photos I take on the iPhone are in the portrait orientation (1200x1600).
Unfortunately the portrait iPhone photos show up rotated incorrectly when synched back to the iPhone. When I turn the iPhone, it rotates the photo but it is still wrong.
I tried putting these photos into iPhoto and synching to an album...they then show up with the right orientation. But, I don't use iPhoto, I use Bridge/Photoshop, so this isn't really a good work around.
Anyone have a simple way to fix this?
    Thanks!

There is definitely something wrong (and MikeIPS' explanation that "there is no bug or flaw here" doesn't hold water, there are flags for orientation and they are being mistranslated somewhere in the process)...
    1. With iPhone in vertical position I took a picture of a vertical letter size print and it appears vertical on iPhone when viewing.
    2. Imported this picture into iPhoto, it appears vertical. Quit iPhoto and opened in Preview it appears vertical.
    3. Deleted original from iPhone, dragged imported version from iPhoto folder into my "sync pictures" folder and exported back to iPhone, now it's rotated 90 on the iPhone.
    4. Since I never edited or saved photo in either iPhoto or Preview, then it seems likely that the orientation flag is being changed during sync either upon upload or download.
    5. Next in Preview I selected image in imported version and copied and pasted into new photo in Preview, uploaded newly created file to iPhone and it is still rotated.
    6. Throughout this process, when doing a "Get Info" in Preview, the Orientation flag(s) shows 6. If you "Save As" in Preview to PNG it completely strips orientation info and PNG file uploads with correct vertical orientation. If you "Save As" TIFF it changes the orientation flag to a 1 and it uploads with correct vertical orientation. I stopped at this point because I wasn't doing an exhaustive analysis and only wanted to fix orientation on this one photo.
I should note that the weird orientation has only happened a few times, which lends further credence to the theory that it is happening during transfer. I rarely move photos back and forth, so this isn't a huge issue to me. If I did use this feature extensively, I would use the Automator and create an action that took the batch and in Preview resaved them in a file format that was as nondestructive to the image as possible. Until Apple fixes this issue, at least with the information I have provided you, you have a way to resolve the issue without resorting to having to buy any third party apps.
p.s. If this ever happens to MikeIPS I would suggest he used the Automator as well, but since Vista doesn't have one, it wouldn't do him any good.

  • I want to create a TTL pulse. The stepper motor I'm trying to control responds to a high to low edge, when the low pulse width is greater than 0.5 microseconds. What is the best way to go about creating a pulse like this?

I'm using the NI PCI-6025E card connected to an SCB-100 wiring peripheral. I'm programming the DAQ card using LabVIEW 6.0.2 on a win95 box.
My first attempt has yielded some surprising results.
I created a vi with a single while loop set to true. Within that while loop is a two frame sequence. Both frames use the "Write to Digital Line.vi".
The first frame sets the line in wire to false.
The second frame sets the line in wire to true.
The device channel on both frames has been set to my user defined channel nam
    e -> clock.
clock --> sets the DIO0 channel to be digital write out.
Using an oscilloscope and some wires I hook ground to the SCB-100's digital ground and I hook the probe to the DIO0 channel. What I see are two different pulses alternating between one another. One has a pulse width of 5ms and the other has a pulse width of about 50ms. You seem to get a grouping of one type of pulse followed by a grouping of the other type of pulse.
Obviously this is very strange and not what I want. It is also far too slow. So I'd like to know if anyone knows how to do this properly. Remember I only need a low pulse width of 0.5 microseconds.
    Thanks,
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.
    Scott

    Scott,
You don't need to use a digital line to create a TTL pulse. The PCI-6025E has two onboard general purpose counters. You can use one of these counters to create a single pulse of the desired pulse width. For an example of how to program the counters on your board, refer to LabVIEW's Search Examples>>I/O Interfaces>>Counters>>Pulse Generation>>DAQ-STC based.
The advantage of using a counter over the digital line is that it allows you to control the timing of the pulse through hardware and not software. Thus, it is inherently faster, and the timing resolution is more accurate. The counter will count down an internal 20 MHz timebase to create the pulse delay and the pulse width.
For more information on the hardware capabilities of your board, you can refe
r to the User Manual online at www.ni.com/manuals.
    Hope this helps.

    Erin

  • MP4 encodes fail when output size is greater than 4GB, AME CC 2014.2 (8.2.054)

I have a jpeg image sequence about 45 min long at 30fps.
Using AME CC (7.2.2.29) I can successfully encode to MP4, CBR at 18 Mbps. File size is about 5.53 GB.
Using AME CC 2014.2 (8.2.054), with the identical preset (migrated directly from previous AME), the resulting file is unplayable.
AME CC 2014 gives following warning at the end of the encode:
    - Source File: /Volumes/LS-GRAID-8TB-1/DDL_video/Output/1_Frames/2_Current/102-204-C01-CallanderVeryGold _16bit/102-204-C01-CallanderVeryGold_16bit_[00000-82441].jpg

When I either reduce the bit rate OR reduce the work area, so that the final output file is under 4GB  (or more specifically, under approximately 4,096,000,000 bytes), I do not get the XMP warning, and the final file is playable.
Again, please note that the previous version of AME CC does not have this problem when using an identical preset on identical source, so it does not seem to be a problem with the source frames or the output format chosen, it seems to be an issue with the current build of AME.
Is there a solution to this issue?
    thanks

I have had the exact same problem, I am now trying to encode with audio. ( I also did not need audio ).
My file size and bit rate is a little higher . and using VBR not CBR but it is a mp4 encode and exact same problem, unplayable.
I am now trying an encode with audio on at lowest possible rate, to see if it assembles the video correctly.
I can confirm the work around, With AUDIO on, the export works.
BTW: also tried the sequence directly in Premiere 2014.2 and same error.

  • Print orientation error when customizing paper size or default A4 size.

    Hi,
I had set my report print with landscape orientation, it works well in print preview and export to pdf file.
but when I do print to printer, the page orientation was changed.
I got the change rule about the issue, when you customizing page size, the print orientation depends on the width and height. if page width is greater than height, the page will be print in landscape orientation, even I specified it print with portrait mode.
Did someone get the same issue as mine? How could I solve it.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
This is CR's default setting. It is not error but system behavior.

  • CR2008 forces change in page orientation

Using CR2008 on XP, I have built a report on a page set to 6in wide by 4in tall.
In the page setup, the orientation is forced to Landscape as opposed to Portrait.  If I was printing on a laser printer, that wouldn't be an issue, but I am printing to a Tally T6218 printer which is for continuous forms (tractor fed).  I try to change the 6x4 landscape to 6x4 portrait but CR forces it to landscape automatically.
I tried exporting the report to PDF, but it is stuck in landscape.
I have read blogs where others encountered this problem but I have not seen if there was a fix for this.

    Hi Brad
Printing issues usually depend on the printer drivers; so would suggest you to update the driver to the latest version; For more information related to the Printer.
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/cr2008/en/xir3_cr_usergde_en.pdf.
It is also observer when the width(Horizontal) is greater than height(Vertical)
then it takes the page orientation as Landscape automatically however with Crystal Report Base version it gives the desired output however in Crystal report 20087 and Crystal Report XI R2 it is found as a bug.
Hope this informationis helful to you.
    Regards
    Asha.

  • I can print, using AirPrint, just fine. But how do I change Printer settings using my Ipad, like page orientation and 2 sided printing?

When printing an email I get the option to select 2 sided printing but not page orientation. When trying to print a picture from my picture library I don't get either option. I am using a HP printer with AirPrint. Thanks, Dave

Whow what a shame, I thought this iPad was going to be terrific.  Guess I'll get out my trusty Cannon from now on, lots less hassle.

    Hi,
You can deal with this situation in 2 ways. Manually block the invoice while posting, TAB: Payment.
    Else,
Use Quantity Variance Key: DQ,DW. You can enter tolerances for Lower and Upper Limit. You can enter absolute and percentage base variance. If one of the limit is exceeded the invoice is blocked for payment.
If you want certain variance is always blocked, set value or percentage for the upper limit to ZERO and select Check Limit.
    IMG->Material Management->logistics Invoice Verification->Invoice Block->Set Tolerance Limits (Transaction Code: OMR6).
These setting are for Co. Code level.
Any deviation from ordered Quantity will be blocked.
Hope this is what you are looking for!!

  • Find spaces greater than particular width value

    Dear All,
    Requirement:
In InDesign Scripting, is it possible to  straightly find spaces whose width is greater than particular value (e.g. 4 pts) to speedup a task.
Currently we are finding most of the spaces and calculating their width as like below (i.e subtracting horizontal Offset value from end Horizontal Offset value) that is consuming more time.
    ====================================================================================
    Trying Script Code:
    myWidth=mySpace.endHorizontalOffset - mySpace.horizontalOffset;
    ====================================================================================
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

You can use a approach like this:
    1) grab myText.characters.everyItem().horizontalOffset. This will give you an array of every horizontal offset in your text.
    2) Grab myText.contents which will give you a string of all your text.
    3) Search your string for spaces and check the first array for the horizontalOffsets surrounding the space.
This will allow you to do the check with only two DOM interactions and it should be very fast iterating over the string and array.

  • Invoice quantity greater than PO quantity (item without GR)

    Dear All,
I want a restriction in Import PO where system should give error message when Invoice quantity is greater than PO quality ( and GR is not posted).Following setting has been done but still system is issuing any error or warning message.
    1) Set System Message M8 087 as a Error in column online and BatchI in transaction OMRM.
    2) In OMR6 for tolerance key DQ (Exceed amount: quantity variance) set upper limit zero (check limit) in val and %.
    3) In MM-Inventory Management & Phy Invt.u2014Goods Receiptu2014Set tolerance Limit (OMC0)--for B1 and B2 (Order price qty variance (GR) / E and W message Upper limit is set as zero.
Please guide me where i am going wrong or need any other setting?

There is no tolerance key which compares the quantity/amount of the purchase order with the quantity/amount of the invoice.
This is the standard system design.
In the SAP standard release, the system checks the price and quantity variances on the basis of the default values for the goods
receipts. As a result, we can post invoices although the amounts and quantities in the invoice items are greater than the amounts and quantities in the corresponding purchase order items.
If we want the amounts and quantities for the purchase order items to be included in the tolerance check, we can use a customer enhancement (BADI) in the 'MRM_BADI_INVOICE_CHECK' function module to run the check on price and quantity variances based on the amounts and quantities from the purchase order item.

  • Auto adjustment of page orientation causes printing issues with documents that have a page width greater than its page height.

    Hi,
Since an upgrade from Word 2003 to Word 2010, we are experiencing printing issues with certain
documents that have a page width greater than its page height.
In Word 2003, it was no problem to set the page width greater than the page height while setting the page orientation to "portrait".
In Word 2010, this seems impossible: despite leaving the page orientation to "portrait", if one changes the page width/height as stated,
Word 2010 automatically adjusts the orientation to "landscape". Resetting the orientation to "portrait" will flip the page's width/heigth settings.
This behaviour causes printing problems: the page prints out 90° rotated.
I do not believe this is a printer driver issue: I tried several different printer drivers, and all give the same (bad) result. Setting the printer driver's page orientation settings (before printing) makes no difference, as
Word 2010 seems to force the page orientation settings.
Inserting the documents 90° rotated is not an option, since it causes problems with the printing margins.
This is very annoying, since we have to print official documents of a municipality (driver's licences).
Is there a workaround for this issue?
