Paging WIth Two Disassociated Data Controls

Is it possible to have two completely disassociated (not parent-child) data controls on a page, each having their own paging buttons?
I have a requirement for a detail view of one data control with a read-only view of another data control underneath. I would like to have separate paging for both. I can’t seem to find any examples of doing this. The standard paging seems to be bound to the first data control.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
if you are on the web, you build a navigable from based on the VO (in BC4J parlance). When you drop this to a page it becomes navigable. Do teh same for another, not dependent VO and the two operate independently.
Now lets talk about what I think you don't tell us: If you are building JClient applications, then you delete the default toolbar in the layout editor, select one VO after the other and create a new toolbar from the data control. This way the two are independent.

  • How can I create a query with web service data control?

    I need to create a query with web service data control, in WSDL, it's query operation, there is a parameter message with the possible query criteria and a return message contains the results. I googled, but cannot find anything on the query with web service. I cannot find a "Named Criteria" in web service data control like normal data control. In Shay's blog, I saw the topics on update with web service data control. How can I create a query with web service data control? Thanks.

  • How to process reports with two different date fields

    Morning all,
    This question is somewhat similar to what I asked few days back. I created two different reports for two different departments (Credit Control and Free of Charge Control).
    These two reports pull data from two different date fields and has different status check ups.
    Few days back my director requested me if he can have both reports in one report. That is when I asked question from all of you regarding two reports.
    Anyhow, that was created by implementing two sub reports however, the director asked me to combine the two different reports into one in such a way that the output records should be added up with each other hence one single report with all combined data of Credit Control and Free of Charges (not two sub reports in one report).
    The problem here which I am getting is that, both reports uses two different date fields. I can live with two different statuses as that can be easily done within formula/RT however how to create a report with Report Selection Formula condition which looks in both date fields and produces results accordingly?
    I have tried this by not putting any condition in report selection formula and ran the report, it produced total results from past 6 years.
    Any ideas how to produce combined report which has two different date fields?
    Many thanks in advance

    What I

    Charliy,
    No the both dates are from two different databases, tables and fields. The Credit date field is from KLAB database under max table where as the FOC date field is from SAE database under maxmast table. Klab date is under credit2 table where as foc date is under order header table.
    So its more like this:
    Klab->Max-Credit2--->Credit_date
    Sae->Maxmast->Order_header---Date entered.
    two dates totally different tables, dbs
    however, I will try your idea too and see if that works.

  • Getting quarters with two input date-parameters

    I have to find a way to get all the quarters between a startdate and an enddate, like 01-04-2009 (startdate) and 31-11-2009 (enddate). An extra condition is to count an extra quarter above the enddate, so the last quarter is 2010-01 (first quarter of 2010).
    The desired result will be:
    2009-02
    2009-03
    2009-04
    2010-01
    The start- and enddate are inputparameters.
    How do I get this result?

    Hi,
    You're getting a quarter for each 3 values of LEVEL.
    To get one more quarter, add 3 to the limit on LEVEL:
    select distinct
            to_char(qdate,'YYYYQ') quarter
    from      ( select  add_months ( to_date (:start_date, 'DD/MM/YYYY')
                            , m
                        ) qdate
           from        ( select level m
                    from   dual
                  connect by level < 3 +     -- Added
                                          ceil ( months_between ( to_date (:end_date,  'DD/MM/YYYY')
                                                                 , to_date (:start_date,'DD/MM/YYYY')
    order by quarter

    By the way, you don't need all those sub-queries.
    SELECT     TO_CHAR ( ADD_MONTHS ( TO_DATE (:start_date, :date_format)
                          , 3 * (LEVEL - 1)
              , 'YYYYQ'

    CONNECT BY     LEVEL <= 1 + CEIL ( MONTHS_BETWEEN ( TO_DATE (:end_date,   :date_format)
                                                      , TO_DATE (:start_date, :date_format)
                                / 3

  • Create Data Control does not work?!

    I created an application with JSF,EJB,TopLink JPA technology template.
    Two projects were generated, EJBModel and View Controller. So far so good.
    In EJBModel project I generated 6 entities from 6 db tables. I also created a native query in orm.xml and created a result class entity to take the result of this native query.
    I generated session EJB facade and added a method to invoke above native query.
    I also generated EJB client from this facade to test it.
    I run both to ensure query works as expected and it did.
    I then right clicked on session EJB facade and selected option Create Data Control.
    JDev pop-ed up two windows: one window to Choose EJB Interface dialog and on top of this one another window with title "Create Data Control" and with message "Creating data Control..." stuck forever. I could not remove nor stop this window executing, I had to kill JDev in Task Manager.
    Is this a known thing and is there a workaround? This is kind of urgent, any help is appreciated

    I returned to 10.1.3.2. and created the same application, but got bunch of exceptions which forced me a couple of weeks ago to switch to 11g Preview environment:

  • Clear all rows in a Bean Data Control

    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6
    In my use case I have a screen that interacts with a Bean Data Control I have followed the steps in the following URL to create a Bean Data Control
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_36/jdtut_11r2_36.html
    My screen successfully interacts with the Bean Data Control. This screen lives in a Bounded Task Flow (BTF). I can add rows using a Create Insert binding and can delete Rows as well. Once the user gets all rows into the Bean Data Control that they want inserted to a DB table, I can iterate through the Bean Data Control and post those records to the DB. It is possible for the users to add rows to the Bean Data Control and then link to a brand new screen which is in a different BTF which leaves rows in the Bean Data Control. Now the user goes back to the original screen. Upon returning, I want to empty (clear all rows) for the Bean Data Control so that they have a fresh start. Could you please provide guidance on what I might need to do to be able to clear a Bean Data Control when entering a BTF

    Hi,
    You can create a method to clear your Bean Data Control and call it with an invokeAction with property refresh="ifNeeded" and refreshCondition="#{pageFlowScope.isTimeToClearAll}", so pageFlowScope.isTimeToClearAll must be true only when you need to clear the BDC.

    Hi Libby,
    Select all three columns of data. All three must be 'regular' columns, not Header columns, and the X values must be in the leftmost column.
    Click the Charts button and choose the Scatter chart.
    The resulting chart will initially show only the first and second columns of data, and the selection will have been reduced to show this.
    Click the gear icon at the top left of the selection and choose Share X Values.
    You should see a result similar to this:
    Notes:
    The values on my sample table contain a random element, so they have changed from thhe first image to the second.
    The chart is as created by Numbers, with two edits:
    Data points have been connected with curves, using the Chart nspector.
    The curves were selected and their stroke increased to 2pts, using the stroke formating button in the format bar.

  • JavaBeans Data Control / Managed beans interaction

    Working in JDev/ADF 11g
    I have an Application Scoped ADF managed bean that initializes some services for my ADF application. (These are non-database backed business services and so they do not integrate as tightly with Jdev as data controls). They require some constructor arguments and other initialization parameters and so they cannot be written as pure beans.
    I wrote Java Beans to use as data controls that wrap these services. What I would like to do is to keep the creation of these services in the application scoped bean, so they can be used programmatically in other areas. When the data controls beans are initialized, I want to grab their underlying services from the application scoped bean via the ADFContext.
    My issue is that at the time the data control beans are instantiated, the ADFContext returns null when accessing the application scoped bean - ie it has not been created yet.
    What is the proper way to pass initialization data to JavaBean data controls? Ideally I could simply pass the data control a reference to its underlying service.
    If Im going about this all the wrong way, with the application scoped bean holding the application wide business services, please feel free to advise me otherwise.
    Thanks!

    Okay - so I figured out one way to do this (detailed below), but my question still stands as to if there is a proper way to get information to a JavaBean data control when it is instantiated.
    What I just learned is that although my application scoped bean does not exist when the data control is created, it can exist when the the data control is called by the .jspx. I say 'can' because it will only exist if the .jspx backing bean references the application scoped bean as a managed property. i.e. ADF will create the data control, create the page bean, create the application bean (b/c the page needs it), and then call the data control, at which point the data control will find the application scoped bean. This is sort of a hack, since it requires an unintuitive setting for it work. so I think my question still stands, how to pass data from the application scoped bean to the data control.

  • Enable data paging with parameters count() on new php function issue (BUG?)

    I've got my app prototyped quickly with the default settings in Flex Builder 4.  Now I'm going back and adding/modifying features to polish the app off.
    For this application I'm using PHP5 as the server side.
    The data paging is really cool and simple to call using the default settings.  However, I'm running into issues with customizing the data paging feature.
    This is the default header of the php function that was created for me:
    public function getTblbrowserrecord_paged($startIndex, $numItems){...}
    Instead of dumping all data back to the function I want to be able to search on certain fields so I created a new function called:
    getTblbrowserrecord_search_paged ($szName, $szIP, $szRule, $szURL, $szDateLow, $szDateHigh, $szCode, $startIndex, $numItems  ) {...}
    The new function is tested and operates as designed.
    I set the input types of the variables and return type (Tblbrowserrecord[]) of the new function then went to enable data paging.  The first screen came up and asked me for the key to use which I selected.  The next screen came up and asked me for the number of records which I set to 100 then went to select the count operation.
    I initially selected the automatically created count() function but it came up with the error " Count operation parameters should match the paged operation parameters list."
    So I created another function to match the search function's parameter's list:
    public function count_searched($szName, $szIP, $szRule, $szURL, $szDateLow, $szDateHigh, $szCode, $startIndex, $numItems)  {...}
    But I still ge the error "Count operation parameters should match the paged operation parameters list."
    But they DO match.  I looked at the default functions that were created by FB4 and noticed that the automatically generated function count() has no parameters and the paged function has the two functions $startIndex and $numItems which are not identical yet they work.  I tried removing those two fields from the count function but got the same results.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    Nevermind... For some reason my FB4 is not updating correctly.  After removing the two control fields at the end of the list AND exiting the app/re-entering everything worked ok.  I've been having this issue a lot lately and am thinking that is is a bug of some sort?

  • Refresh the object associated with a Row in a Data Control?

    I am using EclipseLink & have an issue with multiple updates of the same Row. During an update, a new instance of the entity is returned by the update method. The instance bound to the Row is not updated with this new version and subsequent updates fail with an optimistic locking exception since the entityVersion hasn't been updated.
    Question: Is it possible to refresh the instance associated with a data control Row? I can remove rows, create rows, but it is not apparent to me how to update a row. I am trying to avoid doing a full retrieve on the bound iterator.

    Hi!
    The issue here is, by my opinion, a gap between ADFm and EJB 3.0 in use-cases with large data sets. If you search this forum, you may find related thread by Pedja about problem of feasible "scrollable" af:table with large number of entities in EJB finder result list. Unfortunately, the ADFm "paged" fetching is in mismatch with EJB support for "paged" (or scrollable) results lists. The all results of EJB finder method are retrieved from data source, stored in memory (thus breaking the heap) and transferred to ADF datacontrol. Then, and only then, ADFm paged fetching and caching mechanisms are employed – but they are just cosmetics as the main data set is permanently stored in memory as List<?>. The workaround is, as Pedja discovered, to write completely proprietary TableCollectionModel which completely evades ADFm and is implemented by set of EJB Session methods for paged acces to datasource through TopLink and native database queries (enabling retrieval of particular range of rows instead a complete result set). Of course, this is very complex coding experience and I find it a not acceptable for efficient development of modern applications on ADF + EJB stack, especially as it brakes a technology independence promoted by EJB and EclipseLink and other standards-based technologies (as you have to use database-specific native query implementation for paged /scrollable access!).
    What I want to say is that I have feeling that ADF support for EJB is not complete in full extend and that ADFm is still much better suited for BCs then for EJBs. I hope that this will be solved in future as this issue may pose a significant issue on application development in enterprise-level area where it is supposed that we are dealing with BROWSING also a large data sets.
    Yes, I emphasize a BROWSING as I strongly oppose a dogmatic approach that SEARCHING is a solution for every use-case. From theory of information, the system SHOULD NOT limit the user in accessing ALL information (based on access rights, of course). So the idea that SEARCH forms should be used to bridge a architectural gap between a ADFm and EJB is not acceptable, as the search MAY limit the user in acquiring the information he (or she) is not able to describe in adequate manner based on search criteria offered by the developer. So, the developer may be responsible for misinformation of user, by limiting his access to information, jus for technology limitations of ADFm which forces a development of purely SEARCH-based functionalities.
    I hope that development team would appreciate and consider this remarks, and invest effort in closing (not bridging!) the gap between ADFm and EJB.
    Regards,
    PaKo

  • Using stored parameter from data control class with stacked bar-graph

    Hi folks,
    I'm relatively new to ADF & EJB so I want to apologise in advance if this question seems rudimentary to many of you.
    Edit:  I should have mentioned that I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.5
    I'm having a hard time determining how to retrieve the value from a variable to be assigned to a property of the bar graph I'm trying to display on my JSF page.
    I have tried to briefly summarise the logic below for reference.
    I have a data control class (ActivityChart) that includes a method "getActivityDetail" returns a List of custom Objects (ActivityDTO) that are the underlying data for my bar graph.
    public class ActivityChart {
        private Double axisScale;
        public ActivityChart() {
            super();
            axisScale = 0.0;
        public List<ActivityDTO> getActivityDetail(List<String> businessUnits) {
            List<ActivityDTO> returnNewList = new ArrayList<ActivityDTO>();
            List<TransactionDTO> dataList = new ArrayList<TransactionDTO>();
            TransactionSessionBean transBean = lookupTransactionSessionBean();
            if (businessUnits != null && !businessUnits.isEmpty()){
                dataList = transBean.getActivityData(SystemUtil.getCurrentUser(), businessUnits);
                returnNewList = processTransactions(dataList);
                axisScale = calcAxisScale(returnNewList);
            return returnNewList;
    ...The TransactionDTO object is basically a mirror of the entity object to store the fields from the queried db transactions.
    The ActivityDTO object contains a String value (x-axis label) and 3 Double values for the values required for the bar graph.
    What I'm trying to do is dynamically set the scale for the 2 y-axes (I'm using a dual-axis stacked bar graph) because the auto calculated values are not aligned.
    Right now I've got the two relevant elements of the bar graph hard-coded with a specific axis value:
    <dvt:y1Axis axisMaxAutoScaled="false" axisMaxValue="100.0"/>
    <dvt:y2Axis axisMaxAutoScaled="false" axisMaxValue="100.0"/>.
    The value I want to use for the Y-axis is calculated and stored in the "axisScale" variable in the above class.
    Really at a loss of how to move forward from here.
    Would very much appreciate any guidance/direction offered.
    Thanks,
    Karim

    Looks like I may have found the answer!
    I had to set up the variable in the bindings for the page and then reference the variable from the binding and add the property inputValue.
    ie. value="#{bindings.axisScale.inputValue}"

  • Problems with data controls from java classes in JSF pages.

    Hi! We have a problem in our Application that we are developing with JSF pages using Data Controls generated from facades java classes. When we running a page in debug mode and the page are loading, if we insert a breakpoint in the first line of method referenced in the data control, the execution enter two times in the method, and this is a problem for us. How to solve this?
    We are using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 with ADF faces.

    You might need to play around with the refresh property of the action binding.

    using Build XY graph.vi ‏59 KB

    Hi NI9233,
    Mind me to interrupt, I am just helping Mike to explain what he meant to you, refer to the graph:
    Picture 1:
    Double click on Build XY Graph, uncheck the clear data on each call
    Picture 2 and 3:
    Change your formula node into +1 Basic Function in Functions Pallette.
    Hope that helps!
    PS: I am sorry for the size of the image, seems I made a mistakes when I saved the picture.
    Sincerely,
