Palm pre Missing component

Hello,
I have a issue with weak signal. I probably found root cause of this problem. Near the signal cabels are three components one of them is broken and missing (picture).
I need information about this component for replacing.
Thank you.

I just noticed that my Palm Pre was updating to 1.3.5.1 and in fact says as much after the upgrade when I looked on the device Info page. This means the previous upgrade attempt did not go through as I had previously suspected. It would lead me to suspect that my icon difficulties were a result of the 1.3.5.1 upgrade failing somehow and rolling back to 1.3.5. Does this mean there is a "rollback" bug if an OS upgrade fails?
Everything appears to be working normally now.

  • Sender Missing on Several EAS Messages on Palm Pre

On about 10% (not sure exact ratio) of the messages I get on my Palm Pre from our Zimbra server via EAS are missing the sender on the Palm. I never had this issue on my previous phone: Treo 750 running Win Mob 6.1.
With the "From" field apparently missing on these messages, I can't reply to them and, unless the person includes their name or details  in a signature block, there is no way I can find to tell who sent the message.
I have not seen this reported elsewhere. Is this one of the known EAS issues?
    Thanks,

    Hello Barrybks,
The problem here is nothing on your end. It's actually a problem with the way the headers are set up for the Exchange server. You will have to get a member of tech support from your workplace to fix this error, but it isn't a difficult one to fix.
This information was posted by user [email protected] at www.webservertalk.com.
For the instructions I will assume your workplace is using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003:
    1. Go to properties of Default Web Site
    2. Under Web Site, click on Advanced of the IP Address
    3. Highlight the IP address and select Edit
    4. Remove anything you can see in there.

  • Getting iCal and Address Book onto Palm Pre (if you use Missing Sync)

If you use Missing Sync to sync your address book/iCal to your Palm, it looks like you will have to setup a Gmail account and a Google calendar.  You can then export your iCal calendars to a folder and import them into your Google calendar from the web.  Download a free trial of Spanning Sync to sync your contacts (only!!) to your Google contacts and then your Palm Pre should be able to subscribe to your Google calendar and your google contacts (Which should be identical to your iCal). The only question from here is how any new contacts or appointments on your computer will sync to the Pre.  Maybe Missing Sync will come out with something.

I'm running Missing Sync 1.0.2 for Palm Pre and WebOS 1.4.  It seems to work but it is really slow - takes 11 minutes to sync my contacts and calendars over a fast wifi connection.  I have about 1000 contacts and a complex calendar, but i'm only syncing 2 months past and future.
i opened a ticket about this, we'll see what happens.
Does anyone have any experience with the speed of Missing Sync over wifi prior to webOS 1.4?  This is a new device, i updated it to 1.4 immediately before installing Missing Sync.

  • Palm Pre showing "No Service" and losing Ev/Service over 50% of the time + random shut offs when shut.

For starters, I have had 5 Palm Pre's.  The first pre had a battery that I was told was too small (which explained the occasional random shutdowns when being shut).  The second pre I had did the exact same thing brand new out of the box.  The third pre I had worked perfectly up until several days ago (right around the time change).  My calendar synced with G-mail was an hour early for every appointment; also several events were completely missing from my Pre calendar that were on g-mail.  In response to this problem I checked the time zone on g-mail with no resolve, and eventually tried erasing my google account on my pre in hopes of a fresh start.
This is when I encountered the real problems.
My Pre would not delete the account.  Every time I tried deleting it the top bar read "No Service" or my "Ev" indicator would disappear along with the bars.  After this the Calendar app would either freeze or just never delete the gmail account (the gray circle would just spin endlessly for literally 30 minutes).  Ever since then I have been experiencing the "No Service" indicator plus random loss of service and Ev (in places where in the past I had PERFECT Ev and Service)
Since then I have called Sprint and Palm multiple times, and both blame each other for the problem.  I recently took it in to the Tech's at Sprint and they could not find the problem and ordered me a "refurbished" pre.  woohoo.
Today I went and got the "refurbished" pre and within an hour of having it, I noticed that the same problem was being experienced (along with a few dead pixels on the screen).  So I took it back to the Sprint store and asked for a new one (or one that just flat out worked and didn't have dead pixels).  I then experienced very horrible customer service from Sprint (which was unusual since in the past they have been very helpful) and received a second "refurbished" Pre after a very pointless arguement with a receptionist.  By then it was closing time and I had to leave.
Upon arriving back to my dorm, I noticed the same problem was occuring:  "no service" messages and  no internet/service literally 50% of the time I was looking at the Pre's screen.  Also, my second "refurbished" Pre (that I currently have) did the exact same thing my very first one did: it occasionally shut down when I shut it.  This leads me to believe that the battery is too small just like my first Pre's battery was. . .
So now I am very frustrated and looking for answers.  I have never posted any sort of "cry for help" on the internet before, I hope this wasn't too winey lol.
Does anyone have any idea what is happening to my Pre?  Are there other people with a similar issue?  Any solutions to the problem?
Any info/help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I am on Pre number 5 and am so sorry I gave up my BB.  I have had this same issue numerous times and my biggest problem is the battery just drains.....and each one is the same...it freezes, the keyboard does not connect with the screen, the phone calls my last callers in the middle of the night sometimes 2 and 3 times I assume during backup, the tech at the Sprint store tried to help me sync my google calendar and deleted my appointments. On the last refurb my pics did not syn....they said we will keep the phone so you can sync directly, and sent the phone back before I got there. So I lost the pics of my recently passed dog.  They were like well they would have charged us 400 a day if we did not send it back........like whatever.  My chargers, car, wall and usb to computer work intermittently. I keep my car running to charge the battery.  It just continues to drain......and it goes on and on.......I baby sit this phone and cannot use it most of the time. .... palm says oh they should give you a new phone.....sprint says who said that palm?  I think about the first few months when i actually was trying to get outlook to sync.......now i just would like to be able to freakin talk on my phone.  I purchase an album on amazone and they take the money and i cannot download the music.  I tried to convert a song into a ringone I have it for safety and it is really bad.  I have to drive an hour to a "corporate store"  to beg them to give me a blackberry. I love multitasking and accessing the internet however it is freezing here now and I would like to feel a little safer with having a freaking phone to talk on.  I have spent probably a total of 40 hours on this thing since july. They say well do you turn it off and on? how often do you charge it......like its my problem......I remember the early treo's were great and then .................very similar to this 5 phones later and still in palm black abyss. So you see there are others who are having these problems they probably just like me do not want to spend another freaking second talking about this phone.

  • Subsidized Palm Pre 2 and future web OS phones

I am currently a verizon cutomer using the motorola droid. My contract is almost up, and while the droid has held up well over the last 1.5 years I have been very interested in switching to a web OS device. The only reason I chose the droid over the palm pre was my perception that the original pre did not match up to competing hardware at the time. I am satisfied with the pre 2 specs but I'm unsure if a subsidized version will be introduced on various carriers. The website claims it will be coming to verizon but online news seems very sparse. I'd even be more hyped-up about new cutting-edge smartphone hardware running web os. I am not interested in any tablet computers and I get the feeling that hp is more interested in the tablet market than the smartphone market. I'm not interested in win phone 7 or iphone. Android is my main consideration. There is room for web OS in the smartphone market, just give the people what they've been wanting from day 1: state of the art hardware! Is it coming or not? I hope HP can be open about it's intentions so I will know whether or not to wait for web OS or continue on with android, because it is likely I will be locked under contract for another 2 yrs once the decision has been made.

That is just another small let down. It has potential but their trying to find the worth of some of the basic features of the phone its Almost a stripped down phone. Possibly scared to take their place in the good phone category.
The phone is starved like most elements of the economy right now. Literally small key features would boast hundreds of thousands of sales.  But each day I'm tormented at the fact that basic essential call protocol in the missed call and call logs truly doesn't operate correctly. Not as a preference or software but an actual defect in software development. Even not launching profiles from the user profiles is consistently disappointing. The phone literally looks like someone stripped all advanced features and standard essentials from the phone and wanted to see how well it sold on small niche additions.

  • Flash for the Palm Pre

Now that flash is on general release where do I go to download the Palm Pre version?

It seems any post or forum that Adobe doesn't like gets "frozen" out when discussing Flash for the Palm Pre.  The missing Palm Pre Flash and the "shift of blame" by Adobe to Palm has been a common theme  (see http://forums.adobe.com/message/2748422#2748422 as an example) is becoming tiresome.
Yet if you ask Palm they tell you its nothing to do with them, why would it be?  That is such a silly dead-end statement that I suspect Adobe are far to embarrassed by what's actually happened.  If they want to prove me wrong then how about they release the flash to me rather than Palm?  LOL now, there's a novel idea!
I suspect this has something to do the popular rise of Android, an operating system for mobiles that was still in design when webOS for Palm Pre was already established.  It appears, and no one denies, that the demo on the Palm Pre, you know the one, the one that made us all go out and get the Palm instead of the iPhone, was an iphoney.
    We have been duped.
While much of the web relies on Adobe technology at the moment the end of their business cycle is in site, not just HTML 5, but sentiment in general.  The lack of respect, clarity, accountability and honesty in the main to blame.

  • Palm Pre won't load apps (messaging, memos, contacts, email)

I have been having issues with my phone and can find no root cause.  As it exists right now, the phone is unusable - i lose/miss messages, am unable to read email and tear through battery.  The surprising thing is that these issues are apparently not hardware related as I have now seen them on 2 devices.  Please let me know what I can try / how to resolve this.  Below is a detailed description of my problem and what i have tried.  (tl;dr - i have completely reflashed one device, and just recieved a 'new' one from sprint today that still has these issues).
I first noticed problems with my phone approx 2 weeks ago when trying to open the 'messaging' app to read/send text messages.  the app icon would flash once or twice, but the card did not appear.  Sometimes it came back with a reboot.  After noticing this, I also found that the 'Memos' app would start, but not display any stickies (even the 'new memo' one).  Contacts and Email load, but just display a blank canvas (white screen - the add contact/new email button appears though).  The calendar also loaded the week view, but would not respond to requests to change to day or month view, and showed no events.  Along with contacts not loading, I had issues getting Universal search to display contacts stored on my phone.  During times when these apps didn't work, the back of the phone got hot, and battery life dropped horribly (from lasting more than 12 hours on a full charge to 4 hours).  These issues led me to believe that maybe there was a hardware problem.  it seemed like any app that used data storec on the device was having issues - maybe the internal flash went bad or had solder issues.  I took it into my local sprint store, and they restored / hard reset it - I'm assuming this is the same as the webOSdoctor flashing - it took about an hour.  things worked fine for part of the day after getting it back, but eventually came back.  I took the phone back to sprint and they requested a new one under warranty.
I just got the new one today, and after logging into my palm profile, re-downloading a few apps, and sycing my contacts with facebook, palm profile, and google, the issue returned.  it's hard to say for sure, but it seems like maybe it was related to the facebook sync?  that was the last thing I started before walking away.  when I came back, I could not open messaging, and the other issues mentioned above all appeared.  I tried putting the phone in airplane mode thinking that my wifi or 3g connection was wonky  (Sprint is currently having a lot of problems in my area - West Michigan), but this had no effect either.  When I took the phone out of airplane mode, things seemed to work for about 10 minutes, but then the issues resumed.
Has anyone seen or heard of things like this?  my best theory is facebook issues, but I am not about to start deleting friends one by one to find the problem.  I only have about 260 facebook 'friends', but that syncing is one of the most important features of this phone to me.  At this point, I am at a loss for things to try.  perhpas there are developer tools I could use to see running processes / debug messages / errors?  I rooted my first palm pre ( replaced 9 months ago after cracking the screen ), but am not interested in doing that to this device for fear that sprint / palm would claim it voided the warranty.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    Hello!
First of all rooting your device does not void warranty for anything wrong done there can be resolved through the use of webOS doctor, with exception to overclocking.
Could you try to partial erase the device and instead of signing back into your same palm profile, make a new one.  Add back your online accounts and see how the phone fairs.  At this time any homebrew install will complicate matters so if some installed please run the webOS doctor instead of erasing the device.  Keep me posted.

  • Palm Pre - Streaming Video no FF or RW???

so i just bought my palm pre and its over all a nice phone but its either missing alot of needed features or i just cant find how to do it. so other than youtube i use other sources of streaming videos and when im watching the video it seems that there is NO WAY TO FASTFORWARD OR REWIND... if someone could please help it would be greatly appreciated because its very frusturating. and on top of that if i get a call and try to go back to the video it starts over.....
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

To my knowledge, there are no devices that have FF or RW as a "Built In" function. The ability to FF or RW comes from the site that is doing the streaming, or the application you are trying to view the video with.

  • Palm Pre suggestions from another board

I couldn't help but notice a post from everythingpre.com on suggestions to Palm for their next Pre.  I've actually cut and paste this here because I thought it was good.  I hope Palm that you've seen this and may consider this as I feel the exact same way:
    (taken from www.everythingpre.com/forum/palm-pre/suggestions-what-palm-should-do-to-overpass-competition-24556-3...)
I've been a big Pre fan for a long time. I've owned many of the palm based devices over the course of my career and really enjoyed the stability of them. I do feel, however, that while I await for this phone to arrive on Verizon (I cannot leave Verizon at this time), I am becoming skeptical as well, regarding what they will come out with and when. For Palm to win back a huge fan base again, they would need to *surpass* the latest and greatest phone and capabilities out there. Simply re-creating the same hardware that is out there is not going to do the trick. Many people want the iphone and many are now gearing up for droid, all because their hardware is better (or at least their marketing teams convey that very well).
For Palm to win - they would need to create a new Pre (and I mean fast - like the next release in early 2010 for Verizon fast) that has a much larger screen, slightly larger keyboard (I actually prefer this keyboard layout rather than the wide sideways one, but it needs
to be slightly larger), 8MP camera with 720p video recording and playback! Yes, I'm not exaggerating - this is possible with the hardware they have in that phone! If you think I'm kidding - do research on the Omnia HD in Europe - a phone that won't come to the U.S. in it's prime. (the version the U.S. received was a windoze mobile version with stripped down features, called the Omnia II) That phone has the same OMAP processor and it's been an eye catcher!
I actually think Web OS is very nice, but it's not just the OS. If I have a phone in one hand with a 5MP camera and another in the other hand with 3MP camera - which phone do I want to buy? Did I even look at the OS? (as a consumer - I'm going with 5MP, especially when it's at the same price - why shouldn't I?)
Look, Palm, I hope you are reading these forums. I want to see your product succeed like no other. Heck, the iphone is great, but I know that of all companies right now, you are actually the closest to creating a pda/phone that could compete with the iphone. I still think that while the droid hardware is going to be more powerful (or capable), I don't like the interface for Android - it's just not as polished as webos or even the iPhone.
Palm, I see you're hiring many people to really make this thing better, but believe us when we say that you should not release a device that ends up just matching some other hardware - you must surpass it completely. If you don't, then it's just a few weeks away before someone leap-frogs you. I still think you have a shot, but this upcoming year may be your last one. Scrap the Pixi - stop wasting money on a phone that has less capabilities than the Pre. Let the Pre be the Pixi with smaller hardware/size/etc. Create the Pre II (2) that's larger, more powerful and will have more features than any other phone out there. It's the only way you're going to win.
Oh... and if I have to pay a little more for a phone that does alot more, I'm still interested. People paid more (and still do - with the AT&T service plan) for the iPhone because it rocked (and still does). Consumers will pay a little more if it's the best phone out there. You come out with a phone with better hardware all around for even $100 more, I believe that's going to win! Lower the price once everyone has the 1st version, so you can release the 2nd version. Oh, and don't ever release a new phone on Sprint again. Are you kidding? Did you really think that was going to be as successful as releasing it on a network like Verizon?
    Good luck!
Post relates to: Treo 650 (Verizon)

To make a statement that no pre owners really want an 8mp camera is first, unsubstantiated and second, is incorrect.  If you held two palm pre's in your hand - one with an 8mp camera and another with a 3mp camera, you're actually going to try and convince the world that you'd rather have the 3mp camera?
Besides, you're completely missing the point.  If you want to succeed, as stated above, you will never do so with outdated hardware.  I don't care how sophisticated the OS is, if you don't compare hardware for hardware, you will lose. This happens everywhere, all the time.  Anything projected in the industry today, through good marketing, will always highlight these figures and it is these things which will win customers over.  If you don't believe me, then try to explain why the DROID phone is getting so many rave reviews before consumers have even had an opportunity to hold the device or see the OS?  It's because of how it was marketed- look at the droid/verizon commercial.  Tell me where exactly do you see any pictures of the device or the OS?  All they did was tout how much better the phone was through hardware comparisons.  I've worked in enough marketing firms to realize this is the case.  Besides, even if you get a user base to buy your product, you'll make it worse when people start posting everywhere how slow the device is.
In addition, your coment on "those who need such things better buy one out of hundreds of nokia or samsung toys" is exactly the mentality you can have if you want to run a company into the ground. Go ahead and try to make money by telling someone who is looking for a device, that they should stop looking at your own and start looking at others.  Brilliant.  Reminds me of the stubborn linux community that wonders why Linux isn't on everyone's desktop but every time you ask a question, they go and tell you you're an idiot and you shouldn't be running linux if you can't figure it out. (in case you're wondering, I also run plenty of linux flavors on my systems)
We can certainly go back and forth if you like, but ultimately, as history repeats itself many times over with the same situation -get a device that outperforms, outshines, and has more beefed up hardware than any other device; throw webos on there, and market it the right way (stop it already with the weird woman) and this device will win.  You're very close, but close doesn't win it.....
Might I remind you that I'm rooting for Palm?  I've used Palm for many years and I would love to see them succeed more than anyone.

  • I have a new Palm Pre Plus - can I have more than one Google G-Mail Account on the phone?

I have a general G-Mail account and it has started getting too busy with advertisements etc.  I'm thinking about changing to a different e-mail address but don't know what yet.
I have an old Palm Centro I used to Synch with my laptop.  Now I need to do this with G-Mail.  So I created a unique g-mail account that would only contain my calendar and contact information - i called it "palm.last name" - made sense to me.
When I try to add it to my Palm Pre Plus I am unable to sign in.  I'm wondering if you are limited to the number of Gmail e-mail accounts you can have on the phone.  If i can only have 1 then I don't want my e-mail to be "palm.last name" and give that out to people - that would not make sense to them.
I already have a Yahoo Account and I'm thinking about another Yahoo Account to keep some e-mails and instant messages separate from my personal Yahoo.  If I cannot add more than 1 account, this is going to be a problem.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
You should be able to add your second Gmail account without any problem...I have two Gmail accounts on my Pre and have no difficulties.
When you say you are unable to "sign in", I assume you mean you are unable to sync the email and calendar on your new account?  Double-checking your user name and password are the only things that come to mind.

  • Touch screen froze on 3 consecutive palm pre's within about a 5 month span

My wife has a palm pre through sprint nextel. The first one lasted 4 days and screen froze up.  Sprint tech personnel at store could not fix phone or determine cause of the frozen screen. The sprint retail store replaced the phone. We took this phone and used it up until late August when yet again the screen froze just prior to our vacation. Hastily, we took it to a local authorized third party store, Wireless Co.  Their repair personnel looked at the phone and yet again could not determine the cause.  They replaced it as well with a refurbished phone. This third phone finally froze just like the previous two on 27DEC09. We took it to the sprint store the next day.  The techs looked at it decided that it was due to a liquid/subtance under the back cover just above the battery.  They refused to replace the phone a third time.  They offered only that (a) we use our insurance plan or (b) trade the phone in and renew our two year contract to get a discounted phone.  These phones have never been submersed in any liquid. The tech rep at the sprint store suggested humidity from being in the bathroom could have caused the problem. I paid full price for the first phone.  I don't think I need to point out I am a bit disappointed with the palm pres lifespan. If only sprint had the iphone.  The HTC hero or the instinct seem like our best alternatives now.  I dont think I will even consider the pixi.

  • Plans for syncing outlook notes with palm pre

Does Palm have any plans to develop a conduit to sync Microsoft outlook notes to the palm pre?  This is a necessary feature for all previous Palm users. To make the Palm Pre a worthy competitor in the market place.
