Panel Sets in v4.5

Hello,
I was trying to set up this component, but am lost. I looked for help, but did not see any utorials or anything like that. I did come across this article
http://www.everythingxcelsius.com/search?q=panel+set
which said that they could not find any info on this component.
I understand (I think) that the purpose of this component is to embed swf files/dashboards. I was under the impression though that thede swf files could be dashboards created in xcelsius, but that does not seem to be the case, unless there is something that I do not understand.
If there is a tutorial or any documentation on this component please let me know. I did not see any in the user guide.
Thank you.
Tracy

Tracy,
Try this example.  It utilizes Layout 1.
1.) Creating CX swf files
a.) In CX 4.5, create a simple model, then use File Export --> SWF to export the model to swf.  Remember the location where this SWF is exported to; you'll need it later.
b.) Then create another model, and repeat the same export process, using a different name when exporting the model.
c.) Repeat for however many SWF files you need.
2.) Use the Panel Set component
a.) In a new instance of CX., drag the Panel Set to the canvas and open the properties sheet
b.) In the General Tab, go to the "Content" section, and make sure "Use JPGs and SWFs" is checked.
c.) Select URL and click the "..." button.
d.) For the first label, set the URL source to the location where you saved your first SWF file.
e.) For the second label, set the URL source to the location where you saved the second SWF file.
f.) Repeat for as many SWF files you want shown in the Panel Set.  Click OK when finished.
g.) Click on the "..." button for Labels and verify that you have the same amount labels for SWF files.  Click OK.
3.) Runtime
a.) Click Preview
b.) Click on the Down arrow on the Panel, and select the Label for the SWF that you want to appear
c.) The SWF should now be shown within the Panel Container.
As you can see, these are NOT embedded SWF files, simply locally accessed SWFs.  You can also implement the same functionality on an http:// setup if you have the SWF files hosted in some location.

  • Mail messes up html emails when the international panel set to "french"

    This is a fairly specific problem, under my normal settings everything works fine. I receive emails on a weekly basis from this sender who sends them with quite a bit of html encoding. Images, fancy formatting, tables, etc. Normally, they display just fine.
    However, I recently decided to switch my system language (on the international panel) to french instead of English. I have not changed any other settings, in the system or in Mail.
    With the setting in the international panel set with French first, mail suddenly displays these emails suddenly turn to gibberish: They lose almost all formatting, most of the images disappear, text gets superimposed and piled up near the top of the email, etc.
    Thus my two questions: Firstly, why would the setting in the international panel be affecting the content of an html email. Secondly, how can it be set to not affect said content.
    I already looked through the coding for the email, and to the best I can tell, it has no encoding specifying a display language or alternate language encoding or anything of that sort.
    Thanks!

    Hmmm, I'd copy that text & paste into Text Edit document, then wirth it all highlighted try changing to several different fonts to see if the gibberish goes away.
    I'm thinking it's a font issue, but not certain of course.
    Maybe post a sample of the gibberish here for me to look at?

  • Xcelsius 2008: Loading objects into Panel Sets

    I have Xcelsius 2008 Version 5.0.0.99 that came with Crystal Reports 2008 Engage.  The panel set object listed in the "Other" category is not working at all for me.  When I load a swf object into it, it shows up in the workspace, but in preview it becomes stuck in the loading phase and never comes up.  Also, jpegs appear in the workspace, but in preview mode they have a permenant loading bar in front of the picture.  This preview behavior is the same when I export the file and try to open it elsewhere.  The Panel set object itself seems to be working.  It maximizes and restores itself correctly, but the objects in the panels never load.  Maybe the files I'm trying to load are too large?  I'm not sure what to do populate the panel set.
    Thank you,
    William

    Are your images in JPEG format? The Panel Set component only supports JPEGs and SWF files.

  • Nested Dashboards using Panel Set component

    Hello,
    I am investigating the usage of the Panel Set component. Since it is capable of hosting a SWF (presumably one created by Xcelsius) - I thought I could try this out for creating nested dashboarss, of sorts. I was able to export my SWF file from another dashboard and get it to show properly in one of the child panels. The only thing I am wondering about is that I noticed that when you maximize the panel the SWF file doesn't scale like a Panel that hosts a JPG file... it shows at the same size in the maximized windows as the "normal" window. Is this by design, or is there a setting I am missing?

    Hmm. OK, maybe we have a terminology difference here. I took a Xcelsisus generated (exported) SWF file and HAVE SUCCESSFULLY put it into a panel set component. It is not being called out via a URL - it is sitting on my desktop. It does properly render in the Panel Set panel. What it doesn't do is resize when you maximize the panel.
    So, are we speaking the same language here? Are you implying that if I servet that same SWF file off of a web site that it will not only display (AS IT CURRENTLY DOES) but that it will also resize as all SWF files do on your samples page on your web site?

  • NI 5112 Scope soft front panel setting problem

    Hi,
    I tried to meausre a 5.1 voltage using SCOPE soft front panel. I could get 5.1 AC voltage from SCOPE soft front panel,
    but it did not go back to 0 volt after 1 to 2 second in a horizontal line. Nornamlly, my 5,1V will go back to 0 volts
    in my oscilloscope after 1 to 2 seconds because I am measureing a shock beep pulse waveform.
    Can you tell why?
    I am going to give you my setting.  I was trying Y-axis 2 volt/div, AC coupe, ch 0,  X-axis is 10 microsecond/div. normal mode.
    Trigger: edge, rising, ch 0, trigger lever 2.5.
    I am in a urgent. Coould you pls send me quickly

    I'm sorry if I don't completely understand what the behavior is but if I understand you correctly, you have a signal that goes from 1 volt, peaks at 5.1, and then slowly drops to 1 volt again.  That entire signal takes 1 to 2 seconds.
    I am not sure if the problem you are seeing is 1. You can never get the full signal in the SFP or 2. You get the signal ok but the SFP does not wait for you to hit a button to try and acquire again.
    If the question is number 1
      If this is the issue it sounds like you are able to capture the 5 Volt peak, however it never goes back down to 1 volt.  You mentioned that you have the X-Axis set to 10 microseconds/ div.  Therefore the SFP is only acquiring an total of 100 microseconds, and if the reference is set to 50%, then you are only getting 50 microseconds of signal after the trigger, so you will not be able to acquire the 1-2 seconds it takes for your signal to drop.  I would suggest increasing the number of points and slowing down the Time/Division.  You should be able to change those settings a few times to actually get 2 seconds worth of signal.
    2. If you want to simply hit a button and the SFP will acquire again then you need to change the mode to SGL.   Then you just need to hit the run or pause button and the SFP will acquire again.

  • IMac G4 Flat Panel set for network start up incorrectly

    How do I fix this. I think while I was nosing around I mistakenly set my mothers iMac g4 to start up from network. It is not on a network so...How do I change this start up preference if when it starts up is always searches for a network. I have the install disc for OS 10.4.
    Help!

    dmleader:
    Although this is not the best forum for that question try the following:
    1 - open System preferences
    2 - click on Startup Disk
    3 - in the next window select your HD instead of the Network.
    Now to get it to boot into you HD try holding down the "S" key to boot into Safe mode. If that works you can do the previous.
    If not then boot into your system install disk and in the first window after the language selection window go to the Utilities menu and select Startup Disk. There you can select you HD system instead of the network.
    If none of these work post your question in the Tiger forum as there will be users there that can tell you how to boot into another mode and set it from the Terminal. Good luck.

  • Multiple sets of Spry Tabbed Sliding Panels?

    I have my code set up for one sliding panel set with three tabs but I want to copy that set and create another set of the same 3 sliding tabs right below it with different content. However, when I copy it to the next set, clicking the second set of tabs still causes the first sets sliding Panel to slide. Furthermore, a few elements of the css are no longer being read for the second set, including the script in the .SlidingPanels that hides any of the text box outside of the specified dimensions.
    Attached are a txt file for my html and css if that helps.
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    [Moved to Spry forum by moderator]

    The constructor appears at the bottom of your sliding panel code, in exactly the format that Arnout has shown. You do not need to go into the javascript file for it.
    But the first thing I think you need to do is to make sure that you match the classes (and format) you are using with the classes per your sliding panels style sheet.
    Here is the essential markup (your content is not here; this is based on a plain example widget):
    <div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 350px; border: solid 1px red;">
    <a href="#" onclick="sp.showFirstPanel();">First Panel</a> | <a href="#" onclick="sp1.showPreviousPanel();">Previous Panel</a> | <a href="#" onclick="sp1.showNextPanel();">Next Panel</a> | <a href="#" onclick="sp1.showLastPanel();">Last Panel</a> | <a href="#" onclick="sp1.showPanel('p4');">Panel 4</a><!--example to show specific panel-->
    <div id="panelwidget" class="SlidingPanels" style="margin: 0 auto;">
    <div class="SlidingPanelsContentGroup">
        <div class="SlidingPanelsContent" id="p1">Panel 1</div>
        <div class="SlidingPanelsContent" id="p2">Panel 2</div>
        <div class="SlidingPanelsContent" id="p3">Panel 3</div>
        <div class="SlidingPanelsContent" id="p4">Panel 4</div>
        <div class="SlidingPanelsContent" id="p5">Panel 5</div>
        <div class="SlidingPanelsContent" id="p6">Panel 6</div>
            </div>
        </div>
        <script type="text/javascript">
       var sp1 = new Spry.Widget.SlidingPanels("panelwidget");
        </script>
    Note that the ID of the <div id="panelwidget" class="SlidingPanels"> matches the "panelwidget" in the constructor
    var sp1 = new Spry.Widget.SlidingPanels("panelwidget");
    For your second panelgroup, make <div id="panelwidget_01" class="SlidingPanels"> and change the constructor to
    var sp2 = new Spry.Widget.SlidingPanels("panelwidget_01");
    And of course the onclicks in the nav area should change for the second sliding panels set to use sp2 instead of sp1.
    I hope that Arnout will correct me if I have got it wrong!
    Best,
    Beth

  • Collapsible Panels - Links to open one, and close others

    Hi,
    I am new to Dreamweaver and have been creating my site by
    learning as I go along. I have already read through all the other
    related topics associated with Collapsible Panels on this blog and
    have still not found an answer. I have been able to open and close
    Collapsible Panels by using links - but unfortunately, I need more
    than just opening and closing.
    On my site i have approximately 5 pages, all with the same
    header and Menu bar. The Information (that i have presented in
    numerous Collapsible Panels) does however vary from page to page.
    What I need to try and figure out is:
    How can I open one collapsible panel and close all others? I
    have seen the one example which leads to my next question:
    How can I group Panels? Some examples of how to open one and
    close all others use this grouping. Is there any other way of
    opening one and closing all others without grouping?
    Lastly, is it possible to set up a link that can be viewed on
    one page which when clicked opens the relevant page and collapsible
    panel? i.e. on my About Us page there is a link (using the Menu
    bar) for one of my several services on the services drop down menu
    (but services is on a different page with the same setup). When a
    viewer clicks on the specific service, is it possible to get the
    site to open the services page, and open the relevant collapsible
    panel (with all other Panels closed)?
    Any assistance would be greatly appreciated - I have been
    searching for days now and cannot seem to find any
    answers/directions in laymans terms.
    Kind regards,
    John

    This page has an example that has a link that can open and
    close a panel:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/collapsiblepanel/collapsible_panel_sample. htm
    One way to do this would be to have a single link that would
    open one of your panels using the code, but then add to it code
    that closes each of the other panels, for example:
    <a href="#"
    onclick="CollapsiblePanel4.open();CollapsiblePanel5.close();CollapsiblePanel6.close();">O pen
    4, close 5 and 6</a>
    To make this work, you'll need to look that the panel
    constructors at the bottom of your page and make sure to match up
    the panel variable names i.e. "var CollapsiblePanel1 =...." the
    variable is CollapsiblePanel1.
    You could also write a function that gathers together the
    various panels you have on the page and then pass to it only the
    panel that you want kept open. For now, though, it might be best to
    use the above method, given your expertise. And taking that even
    further, you could apply the function call unobtrusively. Both the
    function call and the unobtrusive part you can work on later to get
    this working for now.
    > How can I group Panels? Some examples of how to open one
    and close all others
    > use this grouping. Is there any other way of opening one
    and closing all

    This is a little confusing, on one hand you ask about how to
    group, but then ask how not to group. There is a concept of a
    collapsible panel group:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/collapsiblepanel/CollapsiblePanelGroupSamp le.html
    But there is another type of group, that may be more what
    you're looking for, and that's an Accordion panel, which is similar
    to the collapsible panel group, with the exception that it can only
    have one panel open at a time.

    Probably the easiest way to do this particular one would be
    to make sure that you have all of the panels set to be closed when
    the page loads, and then take a look at the code for the last
    example on this page:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/utils/URLUtilsSample.html
    That example uses a tabbed panel, but the concept is the
    same, use a URL parameter to determine what to show. You'll need to
    link in the SpryURLUtils file in the Spry download package (look in
    the includes folder):
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/home.html
    Essentially, your link will look similar to:
    sample.html?panel=1
    Then your code could look something like:
    var params = Spry.Utils.getLocationParamsAsObject();
    var CollapsiblePanel1 = new
    Spry.Widget.CollapsiblePanel("CollapsiblePanel1",
    {contentIsOpen:(params.panel==1 )} );
    var CollapsiblePanel2 = new
    Spry.Widget.CollapsiblePanel("CollapsiblePanel2",
    {contentIsOpen:(params.panel==2 )} );
    Basically what this is doing is creating an object from the
    URL parameters. Then for each of the panels the constructor has
    code that determines whether or not to expand the panel when the
    page loads. So it checks the value of params.panel to see if it
    matches 1 (for the first one), if it does, then that means that
    contentIsOpen is set to true, if it is some other number or is not
    present at all, then that means that the panel is closed. This
    would then be repeated down the line for how ever many panels you
    want to operate like that.

  • Only the front 2 speakers working with a 5.1 set up when playing mus

    I have a xtreme gamer card, with the 2.5.0006 driver installed which worked fine up until recently. Recently only the front 2 speakers play when playing music. All 5 produce sound when tested from either the creative console or windows sound manager. So all 5 are correctly connected, yet when music is played only the front lef and front right speakers are used.
    I'm using vista 32-bit.
    If there is already a thread on this particular problem (all 5 work on a test and it's a 5. not 6. system) then I apologise but would still like a link. Thank you for your advice.

    You should email Creative support and report the problem.
    CMSS-3D has problems with the latest beta on Vista x64, but you're running 32-bit Vista on their release drivers, which is supposed to work fine.
    If you get a message saying 'would you like to disable audio enhancements?' and you click 'yes', you are disabling CMSS-3D from working, which is the function that transforms normal stereo music into multi-speaker music.
    You can try re-enabling it manually:
    Open Sound Control Panel.
    Select your output device (e.g., Speakers.)
    Hit the Properties button at the bottom of the Sound Control Panel.
    Select the Sound Blaster tab.
    Uncheck the 'Disable Sound Blaster enhancements.'
    Hit OK, and OK.
    Go into the Creative Audio console, make sure you're in Entertainment mode, and go into the CMSS-3D panel, set your settings here as you like it.
    Pray.
    Test.
    That may not work, especially if the driver / operating system was reporting problems with CMSS-3D in the first place; you may end up getting garbled sound or an error message again.
    Send your details to Creative so they can try to work on it, because it sounds like driver issues to me.
