Pass a Value to Variable from the unix environment in ODI (ELT)

i am very new to ODI environment.
i want know how to pass a value to variables in oracle data integrator from unix environment.
Example:
Variable name : Sales
for variable name sales i want to pass the value from unix environment.

Work Around !
You can execute OS commands using Jython script. Probably you need to flush your enviornment variables value into a file using jython script and then read those value into ODI variable from the file.
BUt may I know why you want to read environment variable vaules in ODI, Dont you think this will make your application less portable

It sounds like you need to set the <rtexprvalue> tag to true in the TLD for your tag. If you do this the tag will read in the value you are trying to pass to it.

Unable to run reports from the unix command line

hi
all of a sudden i am unable to run reports ( on App server 10g) either from the unix scripts or from the unix command line. But i can run them from the forms.
Any one have any idead about this.

i have set the env variables for the session and it worked. Looks like i have to set the oracle_home and ld_library_path every time ( opening a new putty session) i call sqlldr.
But in a whole i am trying to run sql loader from the forms. Right now we have Oracle app server 10g which forms 10g version. As oracle app server 10g didnt come with sqlldr, we are copied the sqlldr of database on to app server with different home. after this we can run sqlldr ( on app server ) from unix scripts but not from Forms. Then we opened a qurey with oracle about app server 10g not commig with sqlldr and its remedy . But they said that they dont have specific remedy for that and suggested the same what we did.
So we came up with java package which does the same funtion as host command and trying to run sqlldr which is on the database( ie replacing the host command in the forms with the database funtion). By using that funtion i am able to run the sqlldr from sql plus but not from forms. I couldnt easily debug it as i wont through any error messages.
Any one have any idea of this ...

How to remove the EOF characters 0d & 0a from the unix file

We have a requirement in which the EOF (End of file) characters 0d & 0a needs to be removed from the Unix file generated by an ABAP program. Any pointers/solutions will be highly appreciated.

UNix files do not have a 0d and 0a end of line, they only have 0a as line terminator.
In general, unix files do not have a end of file character (^Z).
If you do not want to have several lines, dont write several lines, write all in one line using a string variable.

How to delete multiple variables from the variables list

NO in FM9. Take SQUIDDS TOOLBOX the free tool: 'Formats'
'Formats' is a very helpful tool for 'deleting' paragraph formats, character formats, cross reference formats, table formats, color definitions and variables.
You can delete unused one or all formats of selected. For paragraph and character you can also decide to 'add new one in catalog'.

The simple answer is you either have to use the client tool DIS51ADM to import files using the command line (Discoverer Admin is a windows only client tool), or the Java command line which needs a browser.
In theory if you have a browser running on your Unix box you may be able to use the Java command line to make this work.

Selected variable value is different from the displayed value

Hi all,
I have an issue with variable selection in portal. I have a IO - customer which is compounded to source system. So I have soem customers with the same key with different sources. And I have a variable created on customer. For ex - i have 3 customers like below.
SA/1234567
BP/1234567
F5/1234567
1 - And when I search for a customer 1234567 - I find only one customer that is SA/1234567. And IO properties are set to read all the masterdata values and not infoprovider or posted values. - thats issue one - I would like to see all the three and let the user select what ever he wants.
2 - Now when I select SA/1234567 and run the report. It shows me data for F5/1234567 - which is correct data for that customer. But in the template I have a info field web item to display the selected variables on the screen. That info field shows the Customer as BP/1234567 - which is wrong and confusing. I checked the properties of the web item and everything seems ok. So in the variable screen I get a value, the result set if of another value and the variable value that shows in the Info tab is another customer. - Driving me nuts
3 - When I recreate the same scenario in 3.x query - everything works the way they should - this only happens in 7.0 query. What am I missing here??
Any pointer or insight is appreciated - sorry for the long post.

Sorry - its not how its displaying the values rather what its displaying - it misses on 2 other values from the three - though the Bex setting in IO are set to read all the values from materdata table. And in the query I'm using IO properties. And display settings are ok

I'm not sure if I understand the entire question. If you have a variable on a characteristic in the Query designer DEFAULT VALUES section and you remove the variable from it your characteristic will still be available in the FREE CHARACTERISTIC section of the query designer (in the Row/Column portion).
Are you saying that you want to also remove the characteristic from the DEFAULT section of the query designer as well?

Now I need to know which element is selected so based on that I need to perform some function. eg. based on the selected data , i need to populate the next drop down list.

Write the code in this event.
Get the attribute value to lV_xxxxxx using get attribute.
then using that you can fill the next DDBK attribute.

How do I pass a username form variable from a drop down list/menu to another page?

I have a login_success.php page that has a drop down list/menu (which lists usernames). I want the user to click on their user name, and when they click the submit button the username information to be passed over to the username.php page which will contain a recordset, sorted by username.
How do I pass the username info from the drop down list/menu to the username.php page?
The drop down menu is connected to a recordset listUsername, I have filtered the recordset with the Form Variable = username, and I have used the POST method to send the username to the page username.php. I'm not sure how to structure the php or which page to place it on.

I would not post the variable over, In this case I personally would send it through the URL and use the $_GET method to retreve it. For Example.

I have 2 queries in RRI, when i execute it , i am going to target query, but poping the variable screen, but i should get the input values from the first query automatically.
ex: in my first query, If i select CUSTOMER - A, then second query directly should take the input as Customer as A ans display the Customer A values.

In the Assignment details, I have given the Document date variable of the second query for the 0calday of the first query.I hope this sentence is clear
Then the 0calday value directly passes to 0doc_date variable of the second query. And this 0doc_date variable is not seen in the second query.But rest of the variables of the second query like doc num ,category etc. are still visible in the pop up screen. the requirement is Pop Up Screen should be avoided completely
How can be this achieved.
