Pass tablename to report

Question

Page region has select box that returns the selected name of a table in the session variable :P1_TABLENAME.
Page region has an sql report to display all columns in the selected table.
select * from :P1_TABLENAME;
Of course, this fails because bind variables can not be used in SQL identifiers.
In HTML DB, how do I pass the tablename to return a report query?
Tried using a cursor, resulting in error.

Finally got is working with this PL/SQL
and
checking "generic columns parse at runtime" option
in report builder
