Trigger a SQL Reporting Service Data Alert when a SharePoint List is updated & need to pass parameters to report

We have been able to get a SSRS Data Alert to trigger a report to be emailed whenever an item is added to a specific SharePoint List.   The report can accept parameters but would like to be able to pass parameters that are used in the report.
Is this possible? (I cross posted over at SharePoint dev. and was referred here)
Thanks

Hi Nikos,
Based on my understanding, you have deploy a parameter report to SharePoint site, then you have created a data alter for this report. Then you want to pass parameters to report then send alter, right?
In Reporting Services, if the report has parameters, we should select values for the parameter, after report display, we can create a new data alter. Otherwise, the New Data Alter button is grayed out in the drop-down list of the Action button. So that the
rule is created based on the filtered report. Please refer to below screenshot:
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • SSIS Data Flow task using SharePoint List Adapter Setting SiteUrl won't work with an expression

    Hi,
    I'm trying to populate the SiteUrl from a variable that has been set based on a query to a SQL table that has a URL field.  Here are the steps I've taken and the result.
    Created a table with a url in it to reference a SharePoint Task List.
    Created a Execute SQL Task to grab the url putting the result set in a variable called SharePointUrl
    Created a For Each container and within the collection I use the SharePointUrl as the ADO object source variable and select rows in the first table.
    Still in the For Each container within the Variable mappings I have another Package Variable called PassSiteUrl2 and I set that to Index 0 or the value of the result set.
    I created a script task to then display the PassSiteUrl2 variable and it works great I see my url
    This is where it starts to suck eggs!!!!
    I insert a Data Flow Task into my foreach loop.
    I Insert a SharePoint List Adapter into my Data Flow
    Within my SharePoint List Adapter I set my list to be "Tasks", My list view to be "All Tasks" and then I set the url to be another SharePoint site that has a task list just so there is some default value to start with.
    Now within my Data Flow I create an expression and set the [SharePoint List Source].[SiteUrl] equal to my variable @[User::PassSiteUrl2].
    I save everything and run my SSIS package and it overlays the default [SharePoint List Source].[SiteUrl] with blanks in the SharePoint List Adapter then throws the error that its missing a url
    So here is my question.  Why if my package variable displays fine in my Control Flow is it now not seen or seen as blanks in the Data Flow Expression.  Anyone have any ideas???
    Thanks
    Donald R. Landry

    Thanks Arthur,
    The scope of the variable is at a package level and when I check to see if it can be moved Package level is the highest level.  The evaluateasexpression property is set to True.  Any other ideas?
    I also tried to do the following.  Take the variable that has the URL in it and just assign it to the description of the data flow task to see if it would show up there (the idea being the value of my @[User::PassSiteUrl] should just show in the
    description field when the package is run. That also shows up blank.
    So i'm thinking its my expression.  All I do in the expression is set [SharePoint List Source].[SiteUrl] equal to @[User::PassSiteUrl] by dragging and dropping the variable into the expression box.  Maybe the expression should be something
    else or is their a way to say  @[User::PassSiteUrl] = Dts.Variables("User::PassSiteUrl2").Value.ToString()
    In my script task I use Dts.Variables("User::PassSiteUrl2").Value.ToString() to display
    the value in the message box and that works fine.

  • How to pass parameters to reports

    Hi,
    I am a new user to dev2000, i am struck at passing parameters to the reports, i have used lexical referrences, to the where clause, in the query that i have written in reports builder. It created a user_parameter of that where_clause. now i am trying to pass this parameter, from the form to generate a report btw'n dates. please sugest me if there is any other way, or correct me if i am on the right path, here is the code that i am calling from the form.
    DECLARE
    pl_id ParamList;
    --repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    --v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    BEGIN
    pl_id := Get_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    IF NOT Id_Null(pl_id) THEN
    Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
    END IF;
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id, 'WHERE_CLAUSE', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'WHERE SYS_DATE = ''18-JUL-01''');
    --repid := find_report_object('report34');
    --v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    Run_Product(REPORTS, 'REPORT34', ASYNCHRONOUS, BATCH,
    FILESYSTEM, pl_id,NULL);
    END ;
    I am gettting an error saying FRM-41211: Integration error:ssl failure running another product.
    this error is comming when i try to access for the first time, and
    Starting report REPORT34 [Tue Jul 24 16:35:14 2001] ...
    REP-0110: Unable to open file 'REPORT34'.
    REP-1070: Error while opening or saving a document.
    REP-0110: Unable to open file 'REPORT34'.
    End report REPORT34 [Tue Jul 24 16:35:20 2001].
    this for the next time, with out closing runtime env.
    If i have to use RUN_REPORT_OBJECT how can i pass parameters to reports.
    Another thing i encountered is when i am using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT which is working it shows me the parameter form of the reports and when i click on run report, it is just creating a file under forms directory and asking each time when i run report wether to replace it or not and from where it is calling the printer object and actually nothing is being printed, and every thing is fine with the printer and it is not showing the report out put and it shows end of report in the log file of the background report product.

    For your 1st problem it seems to be a bug in Forms 6i - you can visit this site:
    http://pipetalk.revealnet.com/~plsql/
    and find there 41211.

    Hello,
    You can follow these links to get the result that you want. You can get the desired result either using the custom list or a site map. Please make sure when you edit the master page, dont work on the original v4.master. Always make a a copy and then work
    on it.
    This link will show you how get that navigation using a list.

  • Passing parameters from report to new page with portlets.

    Hello everyone:
    I have a plsql report portlet on a page that has a column that I would like to pass as a parameter to a new page to populate more portlets. I tried setting up a link but I can't seem to get the value in the column to pass as the parameter. I am a novice when it comes to developing portlets.
    Thanks in advance!

    The link is the way to go (at first). You have to create the link first. Then assign this link to the column that you want to the hyperlink to appear on - this assignment happens on the 2nd tab of the report (Column formatting) by choosing the newly created link in the link dropdown. After you have assigned the link to the column you must edit the assigned link where you can then choose the value that must be passed across.
    The link approach works fine, but there are limitations. I just do all the links in code these days - so in the report select statement I have <a href....>. This gives more flexibility. Ultimately there is the issue of passing parameters to forms: using links (or hand coded) you can pass parameters to reports (if param is also defined as input param with ":") and also forms, but all you can do with a form is to pass param that can be used to uniqeuly identify one record which is the one that will show in the form. Anything else (e.g. pass a param to prepopulate a field on the form) needs an even more complicated solution (:).
    Cheers.
    Anton.

  • Excel Spreadsheet as Data Source & Copying that Data to an Existing SharePoint List

    Hello,
    I have an Excel spreadsheet that I get daily and cut and paste into an existing SharePoint list. Is there a way to make that Excel spreadsheet a data source and copy the data to an existing SharePoint list with less manual involvement?
    Tools at my disposal include: SharePoint 2010 Designer, InfoPath, and Access.
    I thought there might be a REST method I could use via InfoPath but I'm not aware of any offhand.
    Goal is to have a method to upload/overwrite an Excel file (stored in a SharePoint library), every day, and then automate the process of copy it to a SharePoint list (actually overwriting the old data in the SharePoint list).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    We can create a console application and use C# code to read the data from the Excel file and using SharePoint .Net Client Object Model to add the data into a SharePoint list, then create a windows job to execute the console application.

  • Passing parameters across reports

    Hi,
    Anybody knows how to pass parameters from one report to another using drill across reports?
    I want to feed parameters of a second report (drill across) with values from parameters from a base report where the second report is called.
    Is it possible?
    Luciano

    Hi,
    I don't found a way to pass parameters between reports with Drill Across feature.
    But I can do that using report actions (inserting a button in the view or report) instead of Drilling Across.
    I would like Oracle develop these two functionalities:
    1) Allow passing parameters between reports with Drill Across (today I can only pass fields to prompts);
    2) Allow replacing a view with a report using report actions - as mentioned (today I can only open the report in a new window).
    This two functionalities are complementary.

  • Inconsistent data in reports while data populated when BI Publisher is up

    Hi,
    I am using an sql query in my report to populate data into it. The BI Publisher is up and running and then I viewed the report. It is displaying the data fine.
    Now, I added/updated/deleted the data into corresponding tables. The BI Publisher is still up and running.
    Now, when I try to view report the data getting displayed is not in consistent with the data in database. If I restart BI Publisher then the data is consistent with database.
    Can any of you tell me what to do to avoid this? Am I missing any configuration here? Is there any kind of caching happening within BI Publisher which can be prevented?
    Appreciate your help reg. this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Vijay-

    Hi,
    there's a document cache at report level. Check if this is activated (which is as default). You'll find the checkbox Enable document cache at report level.

  • Problem with SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 SP1 (SSRS) and SharePoint 2013 in a Multi-tenanted environment

    Hi All,
    I'm working on what appears to be a permissions issue with SSRS in a multi-tenented SharePoint 2013 environment.
    As part of my troubleshooting I've ignored the multitenented web application for the time being and stood up a dedicated web application with it's own host header called reporting.<domain>.local. I've created a site collection and added a Doc Library
    called Reporting.. And then the content types, made sure the features are up and everything tests ok. I mention this because it's not that I can't get this working.. I can't get this working in a Web Application configured for multi-tenancy running Host Named
    Site Collections.
    When I try redoing the above on a Tenant site I get the following:
    Sorry, something went wrong The permissions granted to user '<domain>\bprice' are insufficient for performing this operation. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user '<DOMAIN>\bprice'
    are insufficient for performing this operation.
    Correlation ID: 7f23ef9c-4b6a-7007-7e6f-0b32c731f7ed
    The problem here is that my account is a sysadmin in SQL, a local admin on all servers, a domain admin in AD and finally a Farm Admin in SharePoint. Access denied on my account is crazy. So it's unlikely to be perms in the traditional sence, more likely a denial
    by implication (as though I have not been granted access to something)
    When filtering the ULS Logs for that correlation ID I see the following log entries:
    WcfReceiveRequest: LocalAddress: 'http://homsssrs001. <domain>.local:32843/04560e49d2664b64bc12d9ce7bc9f885/ReportingWebService.svc' Channel: 'System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel' Action: 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2011/06/01/ReportServer/Management/GetDataSourceContents'

    Call to GetDataSourceContentsAction(https://shared.<domain>.local/sites/bf/Reporting/terst1.rsds).
    The current site is not in the SiteSubscription of the context site. SiteSubscriptionId: for current site = 96a49a95-8256-4585-9627-98206351efe3, for context site =
    Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: , Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user '<DOMAIN>\bprice' are insufficient for performing this operation.;
    A quick google on what I consider the most important of the above log errors (#5 mentioning Sitesubscription of the context site) returns:
    http://thesharepointfarm.com/2014/10/reporting-services-feature-pack/
    We aren't using feature packs at the moment. As far as I understand it all features are available to all subscriptions.
    Has anyone seen this issue? Can anyone point in the correct direction? There must be a config that's specific to SSRS and Multi-tenancy that I've overlooked but I genuinely can't get to the bottom of this.
    Kind Regards & Many Thanks
    Brett

    Morning Trevor, please find attached - if you can, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards

  • Reports Services getting down when running reports using in process server

    Hi,
    I have applied patchset 3829014 (Containers for J2EE: Patchset PLACE HOLDER FOR OC4J STANDALONE RELEASE 9.0.4.1)
    to fix the Bug No. 2670561 CPU usage becomes 100% when there is a new HTTP connection
    request in the queue.
    Now after reploying the *.ear file and restarting OC4J_BI_FORMS services from Enterprise Manager and starting the Reports Services if I want to run the reports from the application contained in the ear file, I find the Reports Services is down and the browser throws a 500 - Internal Server Error.
    In the ipm.log file in Oracle_home\opmn\logs I find the following lines:
    05/01/08 17:15:55 [4] Process Alive: OC4J~OC4J_BI_Forms~default_island~1 (1162281586:636)
    05/01/08 17:17:32 [2] [libopmnoc4j] AJP13: Receiving response code: 500 while configured success code is: 200
    05/01/08 17:17:32 [2] [libopmnoc4j] Ping URL for proc: 1162281586 failed while pinging url:/reports/rwservlet/pingserver?start=auto
    05/01/08 17:17:32 [4] [libopmnoc4j] Process Ping Failed: OC4J~OC4J_BI_Forms~default_island~1 (1162281586:636)
    I can't get from where the response code of 500 is coming.
    I have consulted the Doc Id 261867.1 in Metalink and has tuned the opmn.xml file as suggested there but of no use.
    Urgent help in this regard is needed where I went wrong as my production Application Server has become inoperative.
    Thanks
    Nilay

    The ear file contains the front end application from where the reports are called. I have created a new J2EE instance and deployed the application in the form of ear file there.
    After tuning the opmn.xml file following Metalink Doc. Id 261867.1 adding a value of pingtimeout, I found the OC4J_BI_FORMS was not shutting down the inprocess reports server and I was unable to generate reports by giving values from URL. But when I deploy the ear file in the newly created J2EE instance, the OC4J_BI_FORMS is shutting down . Now when I try to start the infrastructure components the OC4J_SEcurity is showing Database dependancy failed although OID and HTTP server components are up.

  • Report showing data only when preview in Eclipse is executed

    Hi people,
    I intend to do a dynamic report sending two parameters and displaying on browser.
    My application runs under Coldfusion 9 and i'm using Java Reporting Component for report generation and Crystal Reports Design for Eclipse 2.0 for design and Oracle 10g database.
    In first preview it shows the parameter window and after confirmation the report is generated. But when i preview again the report is generated with the older data. It seems that the data in the first execution is cached.
    In Coldfusion execution the report appears in browser when the value on the line parameter.setCurrentValue("","Pessoa",value); is the same used in preview. After change this an generic exception Error loading JDBC driver. Class 'oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver' not found is throwed.
    The Coldfusion code is below.
    <cfscript>
         byteRead                    =     '';
         exportFormat               =     createObject('java','com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.exportoptions.ReportExportFormat').PDF;
         reportBuffer               =     createObject('java','java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream');
         reportDocument               =     createObject('java','com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.ReportClientDocument');
         reportParameter               =     createObject('java','com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.ParameterFieldController');
         printOutputController     =     createObject('java','com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.PrintOutputController');
         connInfo                    =     createObject('java','com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.data.ConnectionInfo');
         reportPath                    =     expandPath('report/DividasPessoas.rpt' );
         reportDocument.open(reportPath, 0);
         parameter = reportDocument.getDataDefController().getParameterFieldController();
         parameter.setCurrentValue("","Credor","1");
         parameter.setCurrentValue("","Pessoa","226426");
         printOutputController = reportDocument.getPrintOutputController().export(exportFormat);
         reportDocument.close();
         do{
              byteRead = printOutputController.read();
              reportBuffer.write(byteRead);
         }while( printOutputController.available() NEQ 0 );
         reportBuffer = reportBuffer.toByteArray();
    </cfscript>
    <cfheader name="content-length" value="#ArrayLen(reportBuffer)#" />
    <cfheader name="content-disposition" value="inline;filename=Report.pdf" />
    <cfcontent type="application/pdf" variable="#reportBuffer#" />
    I googled a lot about the problem, reviewed all Eclipse options to disable the "cache" but everything was unsuccessful.
    I don't know if missing code is causing this or another component that i need to use.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks everybody for attention and sorry for english errors.
    Ian

    Hi,
    Regarding your query that when you preview a report that has parameters in it, the prompts daillog box comes when you first preview the report.when you again preview you get the old values again.
    For this there is a refresh button, click on refresh, it will again promt you for parameters.
    Thanks
    Prithvi

  • Data Alerts only in SharePoint?

    I have a quick question for those of you who have happened to work with Data Alerts.
    Are they only available on SharePoint ? could that be ?

    Hi gbobj,
    Just as you thought, the data alerts feature is available only when Reporting Services is installed in SharePoint mode. When we install Reporting Services in SharePoint mode, setup automatically creates the alerting database that stores data alert definitions
    and alerting metadata, and two SharePoint pages for managing alerts and adds Data Alert Designer to the SharePoint site. There are no special steps to perform or options to set for alerting during installation.
    For more details, we can refer to the related section under Install Data Alerts:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492252.aspx#InstallAlerting
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Reporting Services Native versus High Availability SharePoint integrated?

    SQL noob here, thanks.
    I'm building a new 2008R2 HA SQL server that's part of a SharePoint farm. I'm looking at the Reporting Services Configuration Manager side by side with the old server.
    Old server: Report Server Mode is Native
    HA server: SharePoint integrated
    I want the SQL setups to be as consistent as possible, but don't see a way to switch the HA server to Native. Doable? I read
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326407(v=sql.105).aspx but I want to keep the same database name. Can I delete the SharePoint Integrated Report Server DB and recreate
    as native?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi scogordo,
    According to your description, you want to switch to native mode for the HA server with SharePoint. Right?
    In Reporting Services, as you can see in your link, we have to specify a database running at native mode as report server database. Since you still want to keep the previous database name, we suggest you change the name of previous database.
    Then use the previous name for the new created native mode database.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best Regards,
    Simon Hou
