Pass the filter to my physical layer view..

Hi,
My requirement is i need to pass the filter to my view (Physical Layer view).
Suppose if have a report with 4 or 5 prompts and 1 prompt am taking from that view (Physical Layer view).after running the report the query will be :
select a,b from x,(view (Physical Layer view)) where join conditions and where
prompt1='some value',prompt2='some value',prompt3='some value',prompt4='some value',prompt5='some value' (my prompts) (my prompts)
But my requirement is
select a,b from x,(view (Physical Layer view where prompt 5='some value')) where join conditions and where
prompt1='some value',prompt2='some value',prompt3='some value',prompt4='some value' (my prompts)
Hope you understand this..

Hi,
You want to pass the value from your dashboard Prompt to the physical layer view.
This can be achieved by using Request variable that you have the option of creating at the prompt level.
And then create session variable with the same name in RPD and now use that variable in the view created in the RPD physical layer in the where condition by calling the session variable.
Let me know if you need more info or if it does not work out for you.
Thanks.

  • How can we achieve the outer join in physical layer

    Hi,
    Can any one can suggest ,how do we handle the outerjoin criteria in obiee.
    thanks
    B.kumar

    Its not advisable as such to use complex join in physical layer......Use physical primary-foreign key relationship join on the tables.
    But looking at your where condition
    where tab1.date between tab2.start_date and tab2.end_dateIt is not possible because you are taking table1 date and giving the table 2 dates for evaluation.
    it should be this way if its primary key relation ship.
    where tab1.date between tab1.start_date and tab1.end_dateIf it is equi-join then you need to write what you have mentioned in your query.
    Cheers,

  • Can't see the update to the DB mapped in physical layer of the Admin tool

    Hello everybody!
    I have an Access DB that i'm using to create a temporary data model for OBIEE.
    When i update rows (add or erase rows in the tables) i can see them in the physical layer; instead if i add o remove table i don't see any variation on the Physical layer.
    I restarted the OBIserver services and checked the ODBC that point to the access. Everything's ok!
    Should i remapped the DB everytime i make the a varition in the number of the table in the DATABASE?
    Can you give some help please!
    Regards.

    1.If you drop or create new tables, you would not see them in the physical layer.
    2. The RPD is just metadata and not database.
    3.BI server has nothing to do with the physical layer modeling
    4. yes you need to remap (in physical) the new tables you create and the ones you drop.

  • How to pass the check box values from one view to another view

    Hi Experts,
    I have a selection screen view which consists of check boxes.
    WBS System status.
    Release                      Completed                  Closed as 3 check boxes.
    Note : The above ones are check boxes.
    Based on the selection made by the user, those values needs to be passed to second view which retrieves the data and
    displays the data accordingly.
    At the same time if the user does not make any selection, then WBS System status should contain Released, Completed and Closed values and that needs to be sent to Second view.
    Kindly advise.

    hi ,
    make a attribute of type WDY_BOOLEAN to achieve this functionality
    u need to follow these steps :
    1 in side ur component controller , under the ATTRIBUTES tab , make 3 attributes say attr1 , attr2 and attr3 of type WDY_BOOLEAN
    2 create a context node , cn_check and 3 context attribute ca_check1 , ca_check2 and ca_check3 in ur first view for
    release , complete and close check boxes
    3 inside the DOINIT of ur 1st view , set the attributes attr1 , attr2 and attr3 to blank
    wd_comp_controller->attr1 = ' '
    wd_comp_controller->attr2 = ' '
    wd_comp_controller->attr3 = ' '
    4 inside the method , where u r validating , if the check boxes are checked or not , read the attributes ca_check1 , ca_check2 and

  • Refreshing the Physical Layer ( New Columns)?

    Hi,
    I am new to OBIEE. (11.1.1.5)
    I have a physical layer defined and now I have added some additional columns to these tables in the database.
    Now, How to get these new columns reflected in the Physical layer.
    I tried the Tools -> Utilities -> Update Physical Layer.
    But it only checks for the data types of the existing columns already in the Physical layer.
    Please help.

    Use File->Import Metadata option
    The tables and column which are in RPD are grayed out and which are not available are in black.

  • Session Variable in Physical Layer

    Hi All,
    I am trying to use session variable in Physical layer i mean in select statement like select region,revenue,year from ABC where siteid ='VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."siteid")' but it throws a warning saying that
    WARNINGS:
    GLOBAL:
    The repository variable, NQ_SESSION."siteid", has no value definition.
    even though I gave value is zero for not exisiting site in init block but it is still throws same warning.
    is there anything i am doing wrong.Please can you give ur valuable suggestions .
    Thanks for ur replies!!!!!!!!1

    Thanks for replying!!!!!!!
    I checked it.There are no values in it even though i forced some dummy values(i.e it's everthing plain).I dont whether we can pass session variables values in Physical Layer or they can be only used in BMM Layer.
    This is what i did
    select 'siteid',site_id from xyz as a where upper(a.loginname)=upper(:user) union select 'siteid',0 from dual and then pass the values in physical layer
    select e,r,t,,u,i from ABC where siteid ='VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.siteid){Note:Its just example don't think about column names or tables names}
    Please correct if i am doing anything wrong.

  • BCS: Pass a filter based on current SPSite to ReadList method from External Data Picker on list item form

    Hi,
    I am using a BCS model to get external data. I have set this up with filters and it works fine. What I would like is to assign a filter value based on the current SharePoint site. This is because I have multiple SharePoint sites that use the same BCS model,
    but the user only needs to see certain records per each site. I have found ways to do this by adding and connecting web parts to a custom page. However, my particular need is to do this for the external item picker that pop up on the list item new and edit
    form.
    I hope my question is clear and look forward to your answers. Please not that this question is specifically related to the external data picker on the new and edit form.
    Regards,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
    Thanks for posting your issue, Kindly find the CAML query that you can use to pass the filter value based on your SPSite
    <View>
    <Method Name='ReadList'>
    <Filter Name='ABCName' Value='{0}'/>
    </Method>
    <Query>
    <Where>
    <Contains>
    <FieldRef Name='Name'/>
    <Value Type='Text'>{0}</Value>
    </Contains>
    </Where>
    </Query>
    <ViewFields>
    <FieldRef Name='Name'/>
    <FieldRef Name='Id'/>
    <FieldRef Name='BdcIdentity'/>
    </ViewFields>
    </View>
    Be sure to replace the filter Name attribute value with your own FilterDescriptor name as defined in BCS model and Value attribute with your own value.
    I hope this is helpful to you, mark it as Helpful.
    If this works, Please mark it as Answered.

  • Probelm Addind new Table in Physical Layer, Create Dim in Business Model ..

    I have completed a task for a dash board, that is running sucessfully.
    Now I added a new table in "physical layer", (file->import->from database), table added successfully
    Now, I droped this table in "business model", but when I want to create its dimension, there is no any option (when I right click on this table)
    there are two cases
    case 1:
    I did not added modified fact table (with foreign key of new table) in "physical layer" and not in "business model and mapping"
    case 2:
    I added new table and modified "fact table (with foreign key of new table)" in "physical layer" and "business model and mapping"
    but in both cases there is no "create dimension" button to create dimension
    Please let me know the how to solve this problem, kindly define it in steps
    thanks

    Hi thr,
    Create Dimensions is only available if the selected logical table is a dimension table (defined by 1:N logical joins) and no dimension has been associated with this table.
    In you case, once you have imported the table successfully in physical layer, then join your table to fact table. Drag n drop in BMM under a new logical table and then join it to BMM Logical fact using complex join. Now, if you right click, you see the last option as 'Create Dimension'
    Hope you find it useful..

  • Do we need to give new joins in physical layer

    hi all,
    due to some back ground problem ,we have deleted the existing table in back end and again we have created the table having different columns names with same table name
    let say ,i have deleted table A and it is having columns (no int ,name varchar,...) in the back end... again i have created table A and different columns name(sno number,sname varchar)...
    like this i have created .. and whatever the content is there in old table same data i copied in to new table.
    so... here my question is do we need to again import that table into physical layer and again we need to give joins... or can we make use of existing table ....???
    now i am running the reports with old table .. reports are not coming up... its giving an error....
    is it mandatory to import the table again .. and again i have to do all joins..
    i did few calculations using that dimension ...... so... any other alternative solution for this ... instead of doing joins.. ..
    i have changed the column names in back end... that's it
    here can we make use of catalog manager to change the column name in the reporting side....after changing the columns name in physical layer..
    i don't knw the process of catalog manager.... please can any one send me the link to change the column names in the reporting side .....using catalog manager
    Thanks

    Hi,
    If you have deleted table in database and you have created a new table with same columns and same structure then you should not face any problem. OBIEE will still have that table intact in physical layer.In your case since you have changed the names of columns in database it is creating problems for you because OBIEE query will use names mentioned in physical layer and those columns are no more in database. SO to resolve the issue go to physical layer and change the names of the columns .That should solve the problem.

  • LabVIEW low level Ethernet communication, 802.3 physical layer

    I'm trying to use LabVIEW to establish communications with a Freescale
    8270 PowerPC CPU with built-in 802.3 Ethernet. The microcode on the CPU
    end supports only the 802.3 MAC/PHY layer (with CSMA/CD). We will not
    be implementing a TCP or UDP stack in the CPU code. It appears that the
    built-in LabVIEW functions communicates with Ethernet through the TCP
    and UDP stacks only, which in turn call the windows API. LabVIEW does
    not access the Ethernet 802.3 physical layer directly at all. So, there
    is a gap in the communications between the two. I do not need a lot of
    networking functionality, this is only for a simple continuity test
    (CPU sends a test message, LabVIEW displays it). Any LabVIEW code
    examples or app notes would be helpful. Thank You, Larry Junek

  • SPARTAN-3E kit - '10/100 Ethernet Physical Layer Interface'

    Hello,
     I'm looking for using the '10/100 Ethernet Physical Layer Interface' on Spartan-3E kit with LABVIEW-FPGA. It seems the Spartan-3E kit with LABVIEW-FPGA driver doesn't support programming the Ethernet interface. Any idea to use (program) the Ethernet interface in LABVIEW-FPGA? For example, is it possible to use HDL node with Ethernet IP? Thanks in advance… Wedo,

    No can do.  This is not functionality incorporated with the current driver for the Spartan-3E.  If you had some Xilinx IP that could interface with this, you could theoretically access it via a CLIP node, but i have a feeling it would be way more complicated than it's worth.  If you need LabVIEW, an FPGA and ethernet functionality you should probably consider upgrading to a cRIO.

  • Creating filtered view on the physical layer ussing session variable USER

    Hi:
    I´m creating a view on the physical layer, the view needs to be created dynamically. So depending on the user (using the session variable USER) the view is created with the data a particular user is able to see.
    Fisrt I imported the table and changed it´s properties to be created through a "Select Statement" so i don´t needed to change the mapping on the bussiness model layer.
    The consistency check was OK but i´m not able to see data in answers, even using the Administrator user. Have anyone tried to do this? Here is my query.
    Thanks
    A Garcia
    Select * from D_ESTRUCTURA_RH2 where Region_ID
    IN
    select distinct a.REGION_ID from APP_INDPERSONAL_DM.D_ESTRUCTURA_RH2 a
    inner join (
    select distinct b.REGION_ID from APP_INDPERSONAL_DM.D_ESTRUCTURA_RH2 b
    where exists (select 1 from APP_INDPERSONAL_DM.Autorizacion a, usuarios c
    where a.app_id = 1
    and a.usuario_id = c.Usuario_Id
    and UPPER(c.Nombre_Usuario)=UPPER(':USER')
    and a.miembro_id = 'REGION_ID'
    and a.operador = '='
    and (b.REGION_ID = (case when valor = 'Todo' then 0 else valor end) or valor='Todo'))
    ) seguridad
    on
    a. REGION_ID = seguridad.REGION_ID
    )

    whay not use the same filter in the content tab of the logical table source?
    check the physical sql sent to databse using web-admin-manage sessions-view log and see if there is any unexpected behavior. also run the same query in db and see iff you get the results in databse itself.

  • Error occurred when view the data from physical layer

    Hi ,
    I have created system  DSN like "demo1" for excel file. After that i import the excel file into administration tool.
    after that i want to view the data from physical layer. At that time ,I am getting following error .
    Please resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance,

    hi ashok,
    u can push data from  psa to ods, for this goto the psa in rsa1>psa>goto that request>rightclick>select " schedule update Immediately ", then data will moved from psa to ods.
                                                 or
    In ods > delete the failed request>goto the processing tab-->select 3rd option   " psa and then subsequentially to data targets ", --> schedule the infopackage.

  • Unable to view data in Physical layer of RPD

    I have OBIEE installed on my local machine using Oracle 10g as the database installed on a remote machine. I am able to create the DSN and test the connection pool on my local machine.
    The Call interface is OCI 10g in the connection pool. I am able to import tables into the database in the Physical layer of the repository but when I try to VIEW Data in the physical layer, it throws me an error stating,
    ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor at OCI call OCILogon.
    nQsError: 17014 Could not connect to Oracle Database.
    I have oracle 10g client installed on my local machine. I am able to view the tables and the data from SQL PLus. In OBIEE i am able to import tables but cannot view data.
    Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

    Sounds like one of my common issues. After you do the import, go back and check the connection pool. What I typically run into is that it has switched to the OCI connection rather than the ODBC connection used for the import, but it is still using the name of the ODBC DSN that was used for the import. Change it to the TNS name or the host:port/service and try again.
