Pass value from previous interactive report to create record form

Hi All,
I am an APEX newbie and have an APEX 3.2.1 application that is still being developed that is working reasonably well. The problem I am having is the following:
I have 3 interactive reports. These are defined on their respective tables, namely, clients, servers, and databases. By clicking on a client name, it shows the servers that are associated with that client. By then clicking on a server, it shows me the databases that are on that specific server. I am able to perform updates, deletes and inserts on all of these.
In order to say create a server, i click on the name of a client and it brings me to the Server Interactive report to see the associated servers. I then click a "Create a Server" link that brings me to the create a server page. The issue i am having is that I would like to have the previous value of the primary key (Client ID) passed from the Server interactive report to the form where i create a new server so that the client ID is already populated in the Create a Server form. Presently, the only way i am able to do this is by defining the client ID column on the Create a server form as a select list and displaying ALL the different clients. By selecting a client name, this list then returns the client id associated with that client name. This is a potential source of confusion for the users and it would be much better if the client ID was already in a text field that is disabled and all they have to do is fill out the other fields of the form.
I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter as I am fighting project deadlines. I have seen other examples that are similar, but i am still experiencing difficulty.
Thanks,
Tim

Hi,
I am still very confused as to how to get this to work.
I cannot have the value passed by clicking the client ID link from the Server Interactive Report in order to populate the Client ID field in the Add Server Form. It MUST be done by clicking an Add Server button that will pass the value as well as take me to the Add Server Form. So far, I have only been able to have the value show up if i click the client ID column on the Interactive report that has a column link defined as follows:
Name VALUE
P9_CLIENTID #CLIENTID#
However, when i do have the value passed this way i receive the following error message which proves that it is not saving the god damn state!
ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("USERS"."NEW_SERVERS"."ClientID")
Error Unable to process row of table NEW_SERVERS.
Even if the value appears in the text field, it isnt really there!
How to make it know the value is there is beyond me.
I dont know what to think of this situation. I have tried all types of settings and I have a feeling it will be 2010 before this is resolved.
It is really frustrating, it has been days i am trying to get this to work...
Thanks,
Tim

  • Problem passing parameter from one interactive report to another

    Hi.
    I'm going slightly mad over this simple problem.
    Apex 4.0.2 installed. Created one interactive report with 4 columns, one is linked to a custom target which is another interactive report where the column is used in the WHERE clause through a hidden field value.
    This works fine in other applications on same Apex install, but not in this one.... Writing the hidden field to the screen shows that it gets the correct value from the first report, but the SQL-query returns no rows when querying on the :<parameter_name> value (there are rows in database - query runs fine when hard coding a value).
    Tried link column both directly from the column value link definition, and from the report definition - both pass value ok to hidden field, but SQL-query doesn't pick it up.
    Tried deleteing and recreating second report page, same problem.
    Anyone else had this problem? Are there any properties on the pages/fields that I've forgot to set, that may cause the session value not to be set when the query is running? I've got it working in other apps, and can't find anything done differently there....
    Regards,
    -Haakon-

    Yes, it shows the correct value. Also creating a second text field and assigning it the Source value of the hidden field shows the correct value in the textbox on page load.
    It's only the report's sql query that doesn't seem to get the value. Hard coding a document number (without hyphens etc) works fine, I get the expected records - so the rest of the query is correct.
    Tried '=' and LIKE - but still nothing...
    It's just the sql variable substitution of :P21_DOCNO that under no circumstance will work.... also tried a simple pl/sql block with the variable - nothing.... using the V('P21_DOCNO') - nothing....
    It seems like the sql query is parsed and run before the hidden field gets it's value or something....
    This is very strange - as it works in another application on same Apex installation.

  • How to pass value from the Z Report to the selection screen of the std rep

    Dear Experts,
    i have developed a report and the values are maintained only in internal table based on some condition.  When I execute the report, for example MM60, there is a material number field for multiple selection.
    the report should call the standard transaction and pass the values from the internal table to the multiple selection- material number of the standard transaction.
    the standard transaction should never get executed automatically.  Only the value should get passed from internal table to the standard t code.  Please help.
    regards,
    Shankar

    Hai
    Go through the following Documents
    SUBMIT rep.
    Additions
    1. ... LINE-SIZE col
    2. ... LINE-COUNT lin
    3. ... TO SAP-SPOOL
    4. ... VIA SELECTION-SCREEN
    5. ... AND RETURN
    6. ... EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY
    7. ... USER user VIA JOB job NUMBER n
    8. ... Various additions for parameter transfer to rep
    9. ... USING SELECTION-SETS OF PROGRAM prog
    Effect
    Calls the report rep . Leaves the active program and starts the new report rep .
    Addition 1
    ... LINE-SIZE col
    Effect
    Prints the report with the line width col .
    Addition 2
    ... LINE-COUNT lin
    Effect
    Prints the report with lin lines (per page).
    Addition 4
    ... VIA SELECTION-SCREEN
    Effect
    Displays the selection screen for the user. In this case, the selection screen is redisplayed after return from the report list display - the user's entries are retained.
    Addition 5
    ... AND RETURN
    Effect
    Returns to the calling transaction or program after the called program has been executed. SUBMIT ... AND RETURN creates a new internal mode .
    Addition 6
    ... EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY
    Effect
    Does not display the output list of the called report, but saves it in SAP memory and leaves the called report immediately. Since the calling program can read the list from memory and process it further, you need to use the addition ... AND RETURN . Also, since the called report cannot be requested for printing, the addition ... TO SAP-SPOOL is not allowed here. You can read the saved list from SAP memory with the function module 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY' and then (for example) store it in the database with EXPORT . You can process this list further with the function modules 'WRITE_LIST' , 'DISPLAY_LIST' ... of the function group "SLST" .
    Addition 7
    ... USER user VIA JOB job NUMBER n
    Effect
    Schedules the specified report in the job specified by the job name job and the job number n . The job runs under the user name user and you can omit the addition USER user . The assignment of the job number occurs via the function module JOB_OPEN (see also the documentation for the function modules JOB_CLOSE and JOB_SUBMIT . This addition can only be used with the addition ...AND RETURN .
    Note
    When scheduling a report with the SUBMIT ... VIA JOB job NUMBER n statement, you should always use the addition ...TO SAP-SPOOL to pass print and/or archive parameters. Otherwise, default values are used to generate the list and this disturbs operations in a production environment.
    Addition 9
    ... USING SELECTION-SETS OF PROGRAM prog
    Effect
    Uses variants of the program prog when executing the program rep .
    Note
    Important
    The programs prog and rep must have the same SELECT-OPTIONS and PARAMETER s. Otherwise, variants of the program prog may be destroyed.
    Note
    When using this addition, the specified variant vari of the program prog is taken in USING SELECTION-SET vari . On the other hand, all variant-related actions on the selection screen of rep (Get , Save as variant , Display , Delete ) refer to the variants of prog .
    Example
    SUBMIT REPORT01
    VIA SELECTION-SCREEN
    USING SELECTION-SET 'VARIANT1'
    USING SELECTION-SETS OF PROGRAM 'REPORT00'
    AND RETURN.
    Effect
    Executes the program REPORT01 with the variant VARIANT1 of the program REPORT00 .
    Note
    Runtime errors
    LOAD_PROGRAM_NOT_FOUND : The specified program was not found.
    SUBMIT_WRONG_TYPE : The specified program is not a report.
    SUBMIT_IMPORT_ONLY_PARAMETER : Only one value passed to a report parameter.
    SUBMIT_WRONG_SIGN : Invalid value passed to a selection with the addition SIGN .
    SUBMIT_IN_ITAB_ILL_STRUCTURE : Table passed to a selection with WITH sel IN itab had an unexpected structure.
    Try with this Example
    Data: listobject like abaplist occurs 1 with header line.
    CALL FUNCTION 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY'
    TABLES
    listobject = listobject
    EXCEPTIONS
    OTHERS = 1 .
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    message ID '61' TYPE 'E' NUMBER '731'
    with 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY'.
    ENDIF.

  • Pass value from BO to report

    Dear Experts,
    I have created a method in my BO. Its of type report. I need to pass key field value of BO to the method (type:report) of my BO. Is there any way to do this or is there any FM that I can use in my report to read the key field of BO.

  • Passing value from Adobe Interactive form, to the Webdynpro Application

    Hi,
    I have followed all the tutorials on interactive forms in WD for Java, & am able to successfuly display my context data in an interactive form.
    However, i need help with the following:
    1. Online scenario:
    User has filled details in an interactive form & clicks on the submit button.
    The Data from the form is NOT getting passed back to the WebDynpro application.
    2. Offline Scenario:
    User has filledup a pdf file(form), & has uploaded the form to the webdynpro application, using the file-upload UI element.
    How do i read the data that the user has entered in that pdf file?
    Any help with regard to these two queries, will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Hanoz

    1) Online Scenario
    check if the context mapping between UI elements and Context is properly done
    check if the cardinality of the Context is alright.
    2) Offline Scenario
    you will have two views.
    one upload view
    and one interactive form view
    in the upload view use the File Upload UI element.
    in the Interactive Form View.... use the same view which you used to create the offline form, thus the interactive form UI element will already know the structure of data and the context mapping in the pdf file when you upload it.
    Add the following line of code to the
    method wdDoInit.
    wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute
    ("pdfObject").getModifiableSimpleTyp
    e();
    Add the following line of code right
    before
    wdThis.wdFirePlugOutToDisplay()
    in the method onActionShowForm().
    wdThis.wdGetTravelRequestCompControl
    ler().wdGetContext().currentContextE
    lement().setPdfObject(wdContext.curr
    entContextElement().getPdfObject());
    in the interactive form view, change the property of the interactive form.... MODE to usePdf.

  • Pass Values from Interactive Report

    Hello,
    I am sure this is an easy question, but I haven't been able to find the solution myself.
    I have an interactive report that has 6 columns, which are:
    Last Name
    First Name
    Day
    Start Time
    End Time
    Link Column
    I need to assign an ID which is not shown in the report, the Day, Start Time, and End Time to variables P5_IDX, P5_DAY, P5_START, and P5_END to be used
    as Display only items on another page.  I can only pass 3 values using the column link in the IR.
    Is there another way to pass more than 3 values from an interactive report?  Sorry if this has been asked and answered previously.  I searched the forums and didn't find an answer, but maybe a searched with the wrong keywords.
    Thanks for any and all assistance,
    Bob

    Hi,
    As per my understanding ur requirement is as below.
    When the user clicks the 'Link Column' it should redirect to another page with the value of id, Day, Start Time, and End Time.
    Hope all the cloumns are from the same table.
    As Denes said, it is enought to pass the ID value to the link column as of below.
    ie., u can modify ur query as of below.
    SELECT Last Name,First Name,Day,Start Time,End Time, ID as "Link Column"
    FROM t.
    Now u can pass the value  as #Link Column# which will pass the ID value to the next page.
    Hope my understanding is correct.

  • OnSubmit function Error in passing values from WDA Adobe Form to Ztable

    Friends,
    I am trying to pass values from Adobe Interactive Form to ztable.
    I am using WDA to display the form. I have created the form context with attributes that are bound to the form fields using the Adobe Livecycle Designer.
    Once the user presses the Submit button, the data is passed to the ztable. In the onSubmit function assigned to the Submit button, I am using the "Read Context" feature of WD Code Wizard to read the values of the attributes
    I am able to read and populate the ztable with values of the first 3 attributes. But am unable to read the value of  4th attribute using the "Read Context" feature of WD Code Wizard. All 4 attributes are of string type.
    I am not sure if this is a buffer size problem or is there a limitation that only 3 attributes can be read per Adobe form / onSubmit function.
    Please let me know what is missing.
    Thanks and Regards.

  • Issue passing values to text symbols in Dynamic text PDF forms

    Hello Everyone,
    I am facing a problem related to Dynamic texts in Adobe PDF forms (Text node of type include text). I am able to pass the dynamic values to the Text node properties but i am not able to pass the values to Text symbols inside the Text node. When tested it says the field not found. I have the same structure and field in the CONTEXT as that of the text symbol. The problem i see is because in PDF the field names have $record.(fieldname) ?
    Please share your thoughts if anyone has faced similar problem or know how to handle it.
    Thanks a million in advance,
    Chandu

    Open the report up in the Designer and Click on Edit, Subreport Links. Likely what you can do is use Shared Variables to pass values from the main report to the subreport.
    You need to do this in the report first. If you are using RAS then you can at runtime. If RAS is not available to you then no way in code.
    See these samples:

  • Passing values from main report to sub-reports

    - How do we pass values from main report to sub-report?

    Look at this link which shows how to pass values from a subreport to a main report.
    http://www.datamanagementgroup.com/resources/trainerstalk/trainerstalk_howto_share_subreport_data_with_main_report.asp
    You can use the same method to pass values from main report to a subreport.
    1) Create a formula @mainFormula in the main report, as given in item 1 of link.
    2) Place this formulla in a suppressed report footer section above the target subreport.
    3) In the subreport, create a formula @subFormula that declares the same variable name, as given in item 3 of link.
    4) Place @subFormula column in the subreport where you want to display it.

  • Passing Value from Crystal Report (special function) to Business View parameter

    Friends,
                 Í have a scenario where i need to pass value from Crystal Report to a Business view's parameter.
    Eg : CurrentCEUsername (func in crystal report)-- gives login user  which i should pass to parameter in a Business view (used in the same report).
    Will be able to explain more if required.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Bharath

    I guess you got the picture wrong.  User_id is not a report_level parameter .
    In Data Foundation, below query is used..
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id={?User_id}
    where in {?User_id}  is the BV parameter...
    The Filter was a solution. But it takes long time to Query all the data from DB and then filter at BV level.
    How do i pass the CurrentCEUsername to {?User_id}
    Value should ve CurrentCEusername always. so that query will be
    select Acc_Number, Account_Group,User_id  from Accounts where user_id=CurrentCEusername
    It will restrict the data pulled from DB to BV .. right?

  • Is it possible to pass a formula value from a sub-report to a main report

    Hi there,
    Im trying to pass a formula value from a Sub-report back upto into my Main report but the value doesnt seem to be getting passed up. Ive tried it the other way around, that is, passing a value from the main report to the sub-report and that works fine.
    Below is an example of what I am trying to do but it is not working. In my sub-report Ive declared a formula variable as,
    formula name=main_subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount := TotalPageCount;
    and in the Main report Ive declared the formula variable as,
    formula name=subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount;
    subIntRatePageCount;
    I want the value assigned to "subIntRatePageCount" in my Sub-Report to be available to my Main report.
    The problem I am trying to solve is that the sub-report is spilling over onto two pages, and I need a way of updating the page display on the main report to reflect this. The page display is of format, "displaying page 1 of  3", but its not taking into account the extra page produced by the sub-report, so it should say "displaying page 1 of 4".

    Also thanks Raghavendra, Asha,
    I've tried adding the "whileprintingrecords" statement but that doesnt seem to make any difference.
    I notice that the subReport is being called from my the GroupFooter section of the main report, and I am trying to reference the variable in the main repot in the Page Footer section. Could it be that the variable hasnt been calculated in the Page Footer by the time I calculate it in sub-Report? I thought Crystal Reports does at least 5 passes over the report evaluating all the formulas before it prints the report?
    The problem Im trying to solve is I need to know how many pages my report will have before its completed, so that i can print the statement "displaying page 1 of X", and X is currently not being calculated correctly because the sub-report is printing onto 2 pages and not 1 so the report thinks I have 1 of X pages and not X+1.
    Regards
    Robert.

  • How to delete the values from TKOMV at runtime after creating PO

    Hi,
      How to delete the values from TKOMV at runtime after creating PO from IDOC. I am creating PO through IDOC, subsequently need to create Sales order and again need to create 2nd PO with reference of Purchase Requestion(created with sales order). At the time creation of 2nd PO the Header conditions are appearing twice and net price value is appearing wrong.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Padma
    Can you do this activity once the company code is in to production. I guess you can not do this activity, if the company code is already in to live. Setting or resetting of the recon accounts will hinder the previous actitivity. Infact resetting of the company code is also not a good option.
    Any how, thanks for the inputs. Please let me know whether i can do this activity only at the subledger level which will not impact other modules. The one solution i can figured out is , reverse all the transactions for the corresponding asset in the year of takeover and pass the entries again in the same year correctly which will have effect in Subledger and also in general ledger. But the business people will not allow this, since for a big client it will require lot of authorizations and approvals. Infact the vendor also, is cleared. So we have to reverse the cleared documents as well which is again a task and require approvals as well.
    Thanks and regards

  • Link column - populating a form from an interactive report?

    Hi
    I have an interactive report which works great. I have now added a link column which leads to a form in my application,
    How can I link the records in the interactive report with the form, so when a user clicks on the link column the form is populated with the details of that record from the interactive report?
    Hope this makes sense

    Hi,
    The easiest way is to create it using wizard when you create a page:
    Create Page -> Form -> Form on a Table with Report
    The link will be created automaticaly on the base of the table Primary key or Rowid.
    Otherwise: On the created Form there should be a page process called similar "Fetch Row from TABLE" (it is automated row fetch process)
    There should be defined the primary key Item.
    Now you can fill this item in report link attribute:
    Link to Page -> your Form
    Set the item Name and Item Value parameters:
    FORM_ITEM_PK #REPORT_ITEM_PK#
    If the Form is based on another table -> just use
    Link to Page -> your Form
    Set the item Name and Item Value parameters(here you can populate more fields - but there will be good to use some dynamic action instead):
    FORM_ITEM_1 #REPORT_ITEM_1#
    FORM_ITEM_2 #REPORT_ITEM_5#
    FORM_ITEM_3 #REPORT_ITEM_3#

  • Retrieve SQL with filters applied from an Interactive Report

    I want to use an Interactive report as interface for providing parameters to a base report query.
    I would like to capture the full SQL code from the filtered interactive report and then run the sql to create a collection.
    I have found this tread
    Re: Using Data from filtered Interactive Report
    which says that you can use APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR to access the reports SQL. This holds the information about the interactive report when the user saves it. The sql code from the interactive report (after the user has added filters) is stored in the field sql_query.I can only retrieve the base query and not the filtered version even after saving.
    Any ideas how this can be done would be appreciated.
    regards
    PP

    OK Darren I think I've got it working. My solution is an adaption that follows the steps of a blog I found here: http://stewstools.wordpress.com/2009/02/19/get-ir-where-clause/
    My solution allows you to click on a button and the records that are currently displayed in the IR report are saved to an APEX collection. You can then use the collection to save records to a table or run a report on another page. (I haven't included code for this last step but it's easy to find on the forum)
    First a bit of background knowledge. The following APEX views hold all the information on IRs that you access via PLSQL code in the package you need to download. Run an IR report, save a version of the report, then in SQL Workshop have a look at:
    select * from APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR
    select * from APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_COND
    select * from APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_COL
    select * from APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_RPT
    When you run an IR report it has an internal ID that you can access and also a Base Id for each Saved report that is currently in context.
    Here are the steps:
    1) Download the following package and install it in the workspace schema
    http://www.mediafire.com/?nj118x9vmc9
    click on the link "click here to download"
    2)In the HTML header Attribute of the page where your IR runs, put the following Javascript:
    <!--===================================================================-->
    <!--FUNCTION TO RETRIEVE IR REPORTS SQL WITH WHERE CLAUSE
    <!--===================================================================-->
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function SaveAndRunReport() {
    document.location='f?p=&APP_ID.:3:&SESSION.:CONSTRUCT_IR_QUERY:NO::'+
    'P3_BASE_REPORT_ID:'+$v('apexir_REPORT_ID');
    </script>
    <!--===================================================================-->
    Notes: You will need to obviously change the URL above to reflect your Page No. (3) and the name of a HIDDEN Item (P3_BASE_REPORT_ID) that you will populate with the base ID of the report.
    Setting :P3_BASE_REPORT_ID to +$v('apexir_REPORT_ID') is an internal thing and works out of the box. It returns the Id of the Base report.
    3) Create a button called SELECT_SPECIMENS (in region position - top of region) in the IR region that will initiate the execution of the IR background SQL to create a collection with the current selected records.
    TARGET= URL
    URL Target = javascript:SaveAndRunReport();
    You might also want to create a condition that only shows the button when there are records selected
    CONDITION TYPE=Exists(SQL returns at least one row)
    EXPRESSION 1 - put the SQL of the IR report here.
    4)Create a branch back to the same page (3) and with the REQUEST attribute set to the value in the Javascript URL above e.g. CONSTRUCT_IR_QUERY. Create a condition on the branch that uses this branch WHEN BUTTON PRESSED= SELECT_SPECIMENS
    5) Create an AFTER HEADER PROCESS with the following code:
    declare
    v_base_query clob;
    v_where clob;
    v_query clob;
    v_base_where varchar2(12):=' where 1=1 '; -- incase there is no where clause in the base query
    begin
    if apex_collection.collection_exists('IR_COLLECTION') THEN
    htmldb_collection.delete_collection( p_collection_name => 'IR_COLLECTION');
    end if;
    --GET THE BASE QUERY OF THE IR REPORT
    select sql_query
    into v_base_query
    from APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR
    where application_id=:APP_ID
    and page_id=:APP_PAGE_ID; -- you can only have one IR report per page
    --UNCOMMENT TO VIEW THE PARAMETERS TO THE PACKAGED FUNCTION
    --raise_application_error(-20001, :APP_ID||'-'||:APP_PAGE_ID||'-'||:SESSION||'-'||:P3_BASE_REPORT_ID);
    --GET THE SQL FILTER CODE
    select apex_ir_query.ir_query_where(:APP_ID,:APP_PAGE_ID,:SESSION,:P3_BASE_REPORT_ID)
    into v_where
    from dual;
    --CHECK TO SEE THAT THERE IS A "WHERE" CLAUSE IN THE BASE QUERY
    if instr(upper(v_base_query),'WHERE ') > 0 then
    v_query:=v_base_query||' '||v_where;
    else
    v_query:=v_base_query||' '||v_base_where||' '||v_where;
    end if;
    --UNCOMMENT TO SEE THE FULL QUERY SYNTAX
    --raise_application_error(-20001,v_query);
    --CREATE COLLECTION FROM IR RECORDS
    apex_collection.create_collection_from_query(P_collection_name=>'IR_COLLECTION',p_query=>v_query);
    exception
    when others then
    raise_application_error(-20001, 'Interactive report not found. Contact Administrator. Could not create collection of records.');
    end;
    remember to update P3_BASE_REPORT_ID above to your HIDDEN ITEM name.
    Set the following attributes for the process above
    CONDITIONAL PROCESSING
    CONDITION TYPE = Request=Expression 1
    EXPRESSION 1 --> CONSTRUCT_IR_QUERY (Note: this was set on the branch in step 4 above)
    6) Run the IR report, click on the "SELECT SPECIMENS" button then click on the Session link on the Developer's Toolbar and select VIEW COLLECTIONS from the popup list then click GO. You should now see the IR records.
    By the way I've been testing in IE not Firefox.
    ...and that's it!
    enjoy
    Paul P
