Java not recognized by Cisco Self-Provisioning Portal on Apple computers

Have a Mac Mini running that had this problem under OSX 10.8 and is persisting in 10.9.  When this computers reaches the self-provisioning portal, after clicking submit on the MAC address registration, the following screen displays an erroneous error that Java isn't installed.
Have gone through updating Java from Apple (2013-005) as well as from Oracle/Java (1.7), and applied several variations of uninstalling and reinstalling Java, doesn't seem to make a difference.  From the top, the Mac Mini attaches to Wifi and the self-provisioning page appears with an authentication request.  User authenticates succesfully.  The next page displays the MAC address for the machine and a description field.  Upon filling out the description, the page is submitted.  The following page tha should complete the provisioning process, rather, displays an error that Java isn't installed and the user should go to java.com to complete the installation.  According to the Java.com, Java is installed. According to terminal (by executing the command "java -version"), Java is installed. Running other Java applications, like JDE, run perfectly well.  The self-provisioning page seems to be unaware of Java despite everything else.  Ideas?

Thanks. No dice. The instructions on that page also appear to be woefully out of date too. In Safari, on the preferences security tab, there is no checkbox for "Enable Java" (I think that is a Safari 6.0.4 thing on OS X 10.8 or thereabouts). In OS X 10.9 there's just the "allow plugins" checkbox and the "manage website settings" button. Assuming this is where it's at now, moving to the Java plugin in the list, they were already "allow". I went a step further and set it for the three websites listed (that include the provisioning portal domain) to "allow always". No luck. Then went to another step further and click "run in unsafe mode" for every item in the Java website list and again it made no difference. The self provisioning portal page still says that Java isn't installed :-(
For Firefox, the instructions on that page are out of date too. Under what I believe are the correct settings, the Java applet plug-in for 7.45 is set to "always activate". I assume this is the same thing as seeing the "disable" button in previous FF versions, indicating that the job applet plug-in is actively running.
The chrome instructions on the page are irrelevant because my OS X and hardware are 64-bit and so is Java but not chrome. Therefore Java doesn't run on chrome on this machine in the first place.
I don't know who's browser the self provisioning portal fires up since it fires up its own window, not a Firefox or Safari specific one. In windows for example the self-provisioning portal fires up a tab in IE. That actually makes it simpler to debug IMO.
Any more advice? Java seems to be running just fine for every thing else. What am I missing?
UPDATE (Just another thought)
Alternatively, could it be a the with WebKit? Or Cisco's implementation of WebKit (as far as whether any changes would have been required for OS X 10.9 in the way with kids is instantiated)? If or example the self provisioning portal is opening up its own "browser" by using the Safari webkit function (as opposed to opening a tab directly in Safari itself) could this be a bug in Safari itself, or a changed API that Cisco has failed to implement (considering the other incompatibilities various Cisco products have with OS X 10.9)? I just hope that the problem is something that I can fix with a workaround rather than waiting for a patch from either Apple or Cisco that may or may not come anytime soon? :-/

  • ISE upgrade 1.2: Self-provisioning portal not working

    Hi all,
I need help with Self-Provisioning portal flow not showing the agent installation page after upgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.2 on a couple of 3315. I've configured all the pieces as instructed by BYOD SBA guide at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/solutions/SBA/February2013/Cisco_SBA_SLN_BYOD_InternalCorporateAccessDeploymentGuide-Feb2013.pdf
    Screenshot of page is attached:
I've checked ise-console.log application log file and found two errors correponding to the first page:
    [portal-http-84431][] SystemConsole -::c0a8a82a000000d7523c70f9::guest:- com.cisco.cpm.provisioning.exception.ProvisioningException: java.security.cert.CertificateException: Unable to initialize, java.io.IOException: DerInputStream.getLength(): lengthTag=127, too big.

and the second (not working) one:

Looks like something is wrong with a certification file, but I cannot find what is. I've exported and re-installed current server certificates (as instructed by upgrade guide for 1.2) and nothing changed.
    Can somebody please help?
    Thanks,

Errors When Adding Devices to My Devices Portal
Employees cannot add a device that is already added if another employee has previously added the device so that it already exists in the Cisco ISE endpoints database.
If employees are attempting to add a device that supports a native supplicant, recommend that they use that instead. That registration process will overwrite the original registration and switch ownership to the new user.
If the device is a MAC Authentication Bypass (MAB) device, such as a printer, then you must resolve ownership of the device, and if appropriate, remove the device from the endpoints database so that the new owner can successfully add the device.

  • ISE Guest Self-Provisioning Portal

    Hi,
I  get the Guest portal page and my credentails authenticate correctly and  the device is authenticated using MAB. Then I redirect to Self-Provisioning portal and get this message
This device has not been registered
You need to manually configure your device
Your device configuration is not supported by the setup wizard
Device ID < MAC of my windows XP PC
Any idea how to enable self registration for gests?
My goal is when guest is authenticated in first time it need to enter credentials and to registered MAC address, then when guest come again it need to pass only authentication, without registration MAC address.
    Thanks

Tarik, where is the mistake in my steps?
    1) I create Authorization Profile for Guest devices registration (see attach AuthProfile)
    2) I create Authorization Profile for Web Registration
    3) I create Authorization Policy (see attach AuthPolicy)
When user connects to the network, he is redirected to Guest Portal where he needs to aply AUP, after clicking "Accept" error appears (see attach ISE_Error). In ISE I see the folowing errors (see attach ISE_Auth_Error).

  • Java not recognizing IPv6 is installed on windows 2000

Hello, I'm having an issue getting Java to recognize that IPv6 is installed on a windows 2000 SP4 box. I've installed IPv6, have set up link-local addresses, and DNS. I can ping other machines on my subnet with their IPv6 addresses perfectly fine. However, when I run an application that attempts to bind or connect to an IPv6 address, such as fe80::5%4 when specifying the scope-id, or even fe80::5 without the scope-id, Java throws an exception that the Protocol Family is not supported on my machine. I am using JRE 1.5.0_01 on the machine. Anyone know how I can get Java to recognize IPv6 is installed on my machine? Thanks

The IPv6 stack for Windows 2000 was a research stack - right? J2SE needs the updated and integrated stack that came with Windows XP SP1 or 2003 Server. See:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/net/enhancements-1.5.0.html

  • Installed Java not recognized

I did the Java install bit, including the check to see if the proper flavor was installed for my MacBook Pro. All looked good and I am not aware of anything's not running or presenting properly. Nonetheless, it keeps alerting that Java needs installation. What to do? Thanks

I have the same issue too, kept prompting me.
So I tried to download again, but it says the Java had already been installed.
How to get rid of this?

  • My Homeshare password is not recognized.  It is different from my Apple/iTunes password.  I have used it before and I know it is correct.  How can I a. get Homeshare to recognize my password or b. change my password?

How can I get HOMESHARE (not Apple) to recognize password?

I believe the issue is with the Apple ID that was used to purchase the App. If you download an App that was purchased under a different Appple ID then all updates will also be linked to the original purchaser's Apple ID. Your Apple ID is the the same ID as your iTunes, iCloud, etc. Some folks use different ID for the different Apple sites. No need for that One ID for all Apple Sites, and if someone else buys an App using their ID and they(you) download that App onto your device and that App requires an update it will ask for the purchasers Apple ID. This happens a lot when folks sell their iPad or give it to someone else and leave some purchased(free) Apps on the iOS device. You cannot change the original ID the App was purchased under. A suggestion would be if someone else has an App that you like but do not want to pay for use their ID or in the future have them gift the App to you.

  • IPod is stucked in apple screen and it's not recognized at iTunes, iPod is stucked in apple screen and it's not recognized at iTunes

I have an iPod Touch 4th generation and a windows7 machine; and it's stucked in apple screen. And it's not reconized in iTunes program. Please, help.

this just happened to me as well. i've found several other threads here that amount to people with the same problem. the posts are all from this week and no one has goten an answer yet. the phone help amounted to the 'hold the sleep and home buttons' advice that only puts you right where you already are: looking at the 'connect to itunes' picture. then my help guy says 'let me ask a supervisor' and basically hangs up on me.
this is the second time for me, though, so i already know that if you go into the store they can do the restore there. what i want is advice on how to prevent this without just refusing all future updates.

  • Froze upgrading ios 6 on connect to itunes screen not recognized by itunes and wont charge no power with usb

The guy at the Apple store said "Now thats a Brick" "I've never seen or heard of one this bad!"
I bought the phone with little to no info on it. I was told that it froze after several failed attempts at loading IOS 6.
Now... It will only turn on if plugged into wall, it will show black, then apple, then "connect to itunes" screen and thats it. As soon as I unplug, it dies. If I try power off, it turns back on and freezes in same place. Reset, same. And unabale to Factory restore cuz I cant unplug from wall. Im asuming its in dfu, nothing works.
When connected to USB,no power, no response from pc (win xp) or Itunes. Although... I swear I heard pc beap once as though it "found new hardware" but on inspection, Nothing.
My theories: 1) Battery is hooped. ( but I was told it worked fine a month ago) The longest I have had it charging is 4hrs and i died as soon as removed.
                        2) VCC conductor. Would explain USB issue.
                        3) The phone was "jailbroke" and IOS6 did not like that. Isnt there programs to reverse this?
                        4) IOS6 interupted, then phone got factory restored. Is it possible there is No "OS" on it?
I never touched an Iphone untill 2 days ago, and I have read and tried every troubshooting solution I could find. If I can fix this I'll be an expert!
    Any help appreciated.

  • My 4th gen ipod touch and my 6th gen ipod touch is not recognized by windows 8 or itunes

Help! Both of my ipods are refusing to be recognized by both windows 8 and itunes. I've tried many different things from redownloading itunes, plugging the cables into different usb ports, using different cables, etc. I'm upset because I have no other ipods availabe and I really cannot afford to buy another one.

  • IPod is not recognized by iTunes... Driver folder not in Mobile Device Support?

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation. First, my iPod wasn't even recognized in Windows. After following the various Apple articles, I solved this.
But now, my iPod won't be recognized in iTunes. I've been trying to follow this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 which has worked so far. But the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed. I follow along as to what to do to solve this until I reach "
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Note: If using a 64-bit version of Windows, this folder may be stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl.inf" file which is listed in this folder. (This file will be called "usbaapl64.inf" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows)."
My Mobile Device Support does not have a folder called "Drivers" and my computer does not have any file listed as "usbaapl.inf" anywhere. I'm guessing that this could be the source of the problem. But I can't fix it unless I know where to find these drivers, and I don't know they are on my computer or how to get them.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you in advance.
