Passing a parameter in applet

hi.. i am a beginner in applet programming and have some problem in passing parameters. If anyone could help me, how can i pass a dynamic parameter in the <param name="username" value="user"> tag. what i meant was i wanted to assign different value for the above attribute everytime a user insert a new username. thanks you

If you post the login information to a server side script page the whole page will be
reloaded, this includes the applet.
For example mail.yahoo login, after filling out user and password you click submit and the
username and password will be posted to server side script running on the yahoo web
server. This script will generate a new page for you.
If you use an applet to send the username and password you can use the URL and
URLConnection objects to post these values to the server. No need to set a dynamic
parameter in the html page since the applet will not be reloaded.
If you wish to post user and password (like mail.yahoo login) than the server side script
generates the html code for you and yes you can generate a dynamic parameter since
the server side script generates the output.

  • Passing unicode parameter to applet

    Dear all,
    I would like to pass some unicode "\uxxxx" as parameter using <param XXXX> to an applet; however, when the applet tried to display these unicode in its textfield, it displays the string "\uxxxx" instead of the chinese character. It seems it treats that as several characters instead of one. Is there any special method to pass unicode parameter to applet? if not, is there way to convert "\uxxxx" back as treated as a single character?
    Thank you!

    pass the unicode code point (only the int value without \u) as parameter, then something like:
    String s = getParameter("character");
    String v1 = new String(Character.toChars(Integer.parseInt(s)));should convert the codepoint to a String containing the unicode character. I cannot check it here so please keep me informed if it worked ok,

    Thanks winj,
    I tried to pass the cine loop filename via java script on page load event.
    function assignit()
    var filename='c:\\avi\\loop3.avi';
    var myapplet = document.getElementById('TypicalPlayerApplet');
    myapplet.mediaFile=filename;
    And in the page load event i called this JS.
    *<body onload='assignit();'>*
    It's passing the file name after the applet getting started.
    How can i pass the file name before the applet getting starts.
    Is it possible to call this Java Script during the page initialization.

  • Passing a file as parameter from applet to servlet

    hi
    i have just started to use servlets. i have developed applet gui interface. when i click the button i want a file "abc.txt" to be send to the servlet. i am doing like this:
    URL serv_url = new URL(null,"http://host:port/xyz/servlet/TestServlet);
    URLConnection connect = (URLConnection)serv_url.openConnection();
    output = new File("abc.txt");
    connect.setDoOutput(true);
    connect.setDoInput(true);
    connect.setUseCaches(false);
    connect.setDefaultUseCaches(false);
    connect.setRequestProperty("content-type","application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
    ObjectOutputStream outputToServlet = new ObjectOutputStream(connect.getOutputStream());
    outputToServlet.writeObject(output);
    outputToServlet.flush();
    outputToServlet.close();
    //for printing purpose on the gui listbox
    listmodel1.addElement("ConnectingToRemoteServlet");

              while((line = in.readLine())!= null)
              listmodel1.addElement("Response:"+line);
              in.close();
    but i am not sure if this is correct. because when i tried to print the file that is send to servlet. it is giving some ascii characters...
    please tell me how to make sure if the file has reached the servlet. or any other method!!

    i don't want to use any third party packages to achieve this. I have looking into forums and i understand that some object serialization stuff has to be done. but i am still not clear abt how to proceed. any example code or details of steps regarding to pass file object from applet to the servlet would be greatly appreciated. i have already spend two full days on this. i wish i can get a better understanding wiht you help

  • Extremely URGENT! How to pass a parameter from html to form?

    Hi Guys,
    I want to be able to pass a parameter to a Pre-Query trigger (from a html page to an Oracle form.) Right now, I hard coded the Pre-Query trigger

    I want to be able to assign a value to the above datablock.field from an URL (i.e. something like http://localhost/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?form=MODULE1.fmx&userid=&otherparams=fieldx=parameterSample

  • How to passing object to the applet?

    Dear All,
    My project is needed to read the xml file (include the form content) and then parse the xml file to create the related object, so using the applet to display this dynamic form.
    Due to cannot directly open the file object and the applet, the following is my idea:
    1. ) In the servlet, first to new the fileinputstream object , then pass the object into the applet. But this idea is not allowed.
    Only String value can use the param to to pass the parameter value to the applet using <param name = \"cis_auditID\" value = \""+inputsource+"\">.
    2. ) Firstly , read the file and then create specific object before call applet class. I know some people said that using the URLConnection, but i don't know for this. Can only one give more detail description about that.
    So how can i pass the fileinputstream or the own created object into the applet?
    Urgent! Please help!

    Where is the xml file located??
    If it's on the same server that serves the applet or if it's dynamically generated
    by making a http request to a servlet you should use URL and URLConnection.
    URL u = new URL(this.getCodeBase(),"../relativeDir/xmlFile.xml");
    URLConnection uc = u.openConnection();
    InputStream = uc.getInputStream();
    // read the rest of the struff.
    You might want to take a look at this example if you want to send (POST data) to
    the server when you make a http request to a servlet:

  • Passing parameters from an applet to a URL

    I need to pass information from an applet to an html page or JSP page, is this possible? Thanks.

    Yes you can!
    The following code might works (with some modifications ;)):
    AppletContext context = this.getAppletContext();
    URL url = new URL("http://host:port/path?parameter=value");
    context.showDocument(url, "windowName");In addiction, consider java.net.URLEncoder.encode() method to encode properly your parameters.

  • Passing parameters to an applet dynamically

    I am looking for suggestions on how I can pass parameters to my applet which generates a simple bar graph. If I pass parameter names and values using HTML tags the number of bars are fixed. I want my applet to accept variable number of values for the x and y axes.

    Then use a JSP for the HTML page. This can then pass dynamically generated numbers as params. Alternatively, your applet could communicate to the server through a Socket (package java.net) - although this can cause problems if there are firewalls inbetween client and server.

  • Parameter to applet - applet as app

    Hi,
    I want to use applet(third party) as application in client machine.
    applet running fine in browser (needs signing file as parameter)
    but my problem is how can i pass parameter to applet, if i want it to in dialog(application)
    i can't change applet code, i have to use it as application.
    any clue or suggestion is helpful.
    Thanks

    I've never tried this, but maybe your app can create a java.applet.AppletStub, and then after instantiating the applet call setStub on it.

  • Unable to pass the parameter to other portlet

    Hi,
    I am trying to pass the parameter from one portlet to other portlet using the convention below...
    Example say you have two reports on a page dept and employee. You want to refresh employee report by clicking on
    the dept in the department report in the same page.
    (1) Create the first report based on the query
    SELECT htf.anchor('http://domain/servlet/page?&_pageid=97&_dad=portal_dad&_schema=portal_schema&_mode=3&dept_code='||DEPTNO,DEPTNO) Department,
    dname FROM scott.dept;
    (2) Create a 2nd report
    select * from EMP where DEPTNO = :dept_code
    (3) In the the additional pl/sql code section before display page on the 2nd report do this
    portal30.wwv_name_value.replace_value(
    l_arg_names, l_arg_values,
    p_reference_path||'.dept_code',portal30.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(nvl(get_value('dept_code'),10)));
    (4) Created a page and added these reports as portlets.
    In point (4) I am not getting the value of selected deptno in 'dept_code'. It is always taking the default value as '10'...
    I like to have the quick solution for this so that I can show the demo to my client...
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Ali,
    We can add parameterized queries to any TableAdapter (and controls to accept parameter values and execute the query) using the
    Search Criteria Builder Dialog Box.
    For detail information, please refer to the following article to create a Windows Form to Search Data:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hbsty6z7.aspx
    In addition, this issue is more related to Windows Form. I would suggest open a new thread in Windows Form forum if you have any more qestions:

  • Web link to pass the parameter to custom web app then update the field

    Hi,
    I have created the web link in service request object to refer Account Object. I want to let user able to select the account from web link then base on the current SR no and account that have created update the record in CRMOD. My question is how to pass the parameter out to my external web app so that they can update my SR correctly?
    Thank you

    Hi Messer,
    I have put in the syntax as below :-
    https://secure-ausomxega.crmondemand.com/OnDemand/user/AssocAccountPopup?mapBC=Service+Request&OACTRL=Account&ophi=PopupNewForm.Account+Id&pfid=PopupNewForm&OMTHD=AssocPopup&OMTGT=PopupSearchList&assocInit=Y&opht=4&OAOBJ=Service+Request&mapField=Account&ophd=PopupNewForm.Account&ophpd=3&disableclear=Y&ophr=AssocAccountPopup&assocval=&ParentType=Edit
    This pop up screen wil let the user to select the account then i will pass the account and the SR to external web app to update back the CRMOD. I am not too sure the above syntax is correct or maybe can you give some example.
    I am new in CRMOD, hope that you can advice on this.

  • How to pass date parameter from one page to other in BSP application

    Hello gurus,
    In my BSP application i have taken an input field and made its type "date" and its value also of type date and have set showhelp .
    Now once a particular date is given as an input i want to pass its value to next page. And in next page i have to fire a query based on the date entered in previous page...
    Now my prb is that my date value is not getting passed to the next page.
    I have used
    navigation->set_parameter( name = 'BEGDA' value = BEGDA ).
    to pass date parameter.....still parameter is not getting passed.
    plz help me with this.....
    thankx.....

    Hi Eddy,
    By truncation i mean the entire date becomes 10 char including the ' . ' eg(06.12.2006).
    so with begda being 8chars it takes my date as 06.12.200
    as a result my query is not getting executed.
    now i have tried to use a FM  'CONVERT_DATE_TO_INTERN_FORMAT'.
    in my 1st page but still in 2nd page its giving me following error.
    <b>The data that was read could not be written to the specified target field during a SELECT access. Either the conversion is not supported for the type of the target field, or the target field is too short to accept the value, or the data is not in the appropriateformat for the target field.

  • How to pass the parameter of a stored procedure to iReport

    Hi... i don't know how to pass the parameter of the stored procedure to the iReport.
    In the Report Query, i tried
    1. sp_storedprocedure ' value'
    2. sp_storedprocedure +''''+$P{parameter}+''''+
    3. sp_storedprocedure +$V+$P{parameter}++$F($F is a variable having a value of ' (a single quote))may you enlighten us please? thank you

    For M$ SQL server I find that it only works when U use the fully qualified name...
    e.g. catalod.dbo.my_procedure_name 'variable'
    My full query in the Report Query window is something like this:
    EXEC arc.dbo.jasper_Invoice 1000
    Note that you may find that selecting from VIEWS / TABLES fails for no apparent reason and iReport will prompt you with the usual very unhelpful (we have what we "pay" for) prompt, stating that "The document is empty".
    To work around this issue, where a statement like "SELECT * FROM arc.dbo.acc_invoices WHERE Invoice_id=1000" does not work, simply create a PROC, something like:
    CREATE PROC jasper_MyProc (@my_rec_id integer) AS
    SELECT * FROM arc.dbo.acc_invoices WHERE Invoice_id= @my_rec_id integer
    ...to wrap your SELECT statement, then call the PROC

  • Passing one parameter to multiple views

    Is this possible?  I would like to pass one parameter, a date field, to multiple views.  I cannot use it in the record selection, because my views do a mathematical computation which returns a single value, but I only want to select the data for a single day.
    The problem is that there are several views and I do not want to have to enter the date parameter a dozen times.

    Try to use add command and write the query like this
    select * from view where datefield={?date}
    also create another add command for the other view
    select * from view2 where datefield2={?date}
    for all the queries create the same parameter with the name {?date}

    public boolean setProperty(ID pid, Object value)
        if (pid == SETTEXT)
    String text = value.toString();
    and in forms
    set_custom_property('beans.bean_item', 1, 'SETTEXT', 'some text');
