Passing File Path of an XFDF to a PDF

I am attempting to pass the path to a file, an xfdf, to a PDF form and have the form fields filled in.
I have this working with a page level script on page open -
this.importAnXFDF("myFile.xfdf");
How can I pass the "myfile.xfdf" to the PDF as a parameter? And then read that parameter with Acrobat javascript? Making my script look like -
this.importAnXFDF(myFileVariable);
I am guessing the link to the PDF would look like -
myPDF.pdf#xfdf=myFile.xfdf
So the whole package would be something like -
myPDF.pdf#xfdfFile=myFile.xfdf
Then -
this.importAnXFDF(xfdfFile);
Right?????
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

To pdobratz -
The error is in the sequence editor when trying to initiate the drag of the object. I am not sure why it occurs, but the Sequence Editor is just reporting an exception that occurred when calling an API method in the TestStand engine. TestStand should still run fine.
I tried the senario with TestStand 3.1 and the error did not occur. Starting with TestStand 3.0, most of the watch pane code was rewritten.

  • Pass File Path into Message Box

    Hello,
    I’m building an application that is being used to create a report for whatever date range the user chooses. After the data is exported into Excel I have a message box pop up telling the user where the file has been saved to. However, as it is now, I have
    the file path hard coded. What I want to do is have the file path chosen by the user passed into the message box and display a message with the selected path. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

    Assuming I have located the part of your code you are talking about, I think you just need to replace the hard code path in the message with the path from the SaveFileDialog. You should only display the message if the use clicked OK.

  • Downloading file passing File Path in the FM as well as Retain Values in XL

    Hi Experts,
    I am writing a report where it is required that I have an option for the user, in selection  srceen, to have an F4 help to choose the file path they want. The same should be further used to automatically download the internal table into an excel file.
    I was initially using GUI_DOWNLOAD which seemed to work fine except that certain values were not being retained in the download file,  For example , the leading zero in "02" and the value "2-6-21" gets updated in date format automatically as 02-06-2011.
    To avoid the above I tried using the FM  XXL_FULL_API which retains this value but it does not seem to have an option where I can pass the file path to download on the presentation . Instead we need to manually save the excel file when it is generated.
    Could you help me with how to proceed with this, in a way where I can pass the file path as well as retain the values in excel?
    <removed by moderator>. Any help is welcome
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    The easiest way to make excel retain the values and not apply any formatting on cells is to add a quote in front of those fields...
    e.g. '02 and '2-6-21. Then you can use the gui_download method...
    Those values will then be considered as text by excel and you won't be bother with auto-formatting issue...
    There are of course other ways of doing it...(via OLE e.g)

    You need to use a colon-delimited path. If the JavaScript returns a slash-delimited one, run:
    set myTemplate to POSIX file "/SPACE/Marketing/webTemplatesCreation/working/template.pdf"
    or:
    set the_string to "/SPACE/Marketing/webTemplatesCreation/working/template.pdf"
    set new_string to ""

  • Pass file path through a variable

    I have a script that works when I place path directly instead of variable, but I will need that path to come from java script, so I need to replace it with a variable, but when I do that, it doesn't work any more and it the same path, but running the script tells me that it can't find the file (and file is there ).
    _*Working script:*_
    set ScriptPath to (path to applications folder as text) & "Adobe Illustrator CS4:Presets.localized:enUS:Scripts:_NDF_ILLbasicWebTemplates.jsx" as alias
    tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
    activate
    open file "SPACE:Marketing:webTemplatesCreation:working:template.pdf"
    set Doc_Ref to the current document
    tell Doc_Ref
    do javascript ScriptPath
    end tell
    end tell
    _*Not working:*_
    set myTemplate to "/SPACE/Marketing/webTemplatesCreation/working/template.pdf" as alias
    set ScriptPath to (path to applications folder as text) & "Adobe Illustrator CS4:Presets.localized:enUS:Scripts:_NDF_ILLbasicWebTemplates.jsx" as alias
    tell application "Adobe Illustrator"
    activate
    open myTemplate
    set Doc_Ref to the current document
    tell Doc_Ref
    do javascript ScriptPath
    end tell
    end tell
    I tried different versions: like with '/Volumes' in the beginning and with out 'as alias' for the variable. And none of it helps. The file is on the server and not on my system.
    Thank you very much for your help.

  • Question about pass file name and path to file write adapter

    I need to pass file name and path to file adapter for write. I got partial answers from thread Re: Get File name using File Adapter , but seems InboundHeader_msg or outboundHeader_msg only takes file name, how do I pass file directory?
    since I still have to specify file format (like xxx_%xx%.txt) in the file adapter wizard. Will this name conflict with what the name defined in InboundHeader_msg ?
    Similarly, how can I pass a file name and path to a file synchread adapter?

  • How to get the file path in adf application

    hii all,
    i have a txt file that i am using in my adf application,
    i am passing this txt file through a File Reader, for which i have to mention the file path.
    The file is in web-content and when i am hard coding the complete file path i.e C:/JDeveloper/myApp/ViewController/public_html/log.txt
    the application is working fine when run on integrated weblogic server.
    My requirement is to access this file without giving the static file path, as in case i have to use this application on any other machine..
    for that how to mention the file path-
    i tried using FacesContext to get the context path :-
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestContextPath();
    which gives me
    \myApp-ViewController-context-root
    after appending public_html\log.txt
    I am using the following path to access the file :-
    \myApp-ViewController-context-root\public_html\log.txt
    again i am getting the java.io.FileNotFoundException
    Does anyone know how to use file from inside the web-content without giving the complete path..???
    Thanks

    Hi,
    If you put your file under public_html folder, you can use this code to access the file:
    For example file is : log.txt
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRealPath('/log.txt').toString().trim();
    Thanks.

  • SSIS - Loop through files from a file path based on the value in the variable

    Experts,
    I have a requirement where I'll be loading multiple files in to a SQL server table and archive the files when loaded. However, the challenge is , the file path should be dynamic based on the value of a variable (say, @ProductName).
    For example: If I am running the package for variable @ProductName="Product", the file path would be "\\....\Src\Product", in that case the ForEachLoop will loop through all the files in that folder, load them to the table and Archive
    the files to the "\\....\Src\Product\Archive" folder.
    Similarly, if the @ProductName="Product_NCP", the foreachloop container should loop through files in the "\\....\Src\Product_NCP" folder, load them to the table and archive them to the ""\\....\Src\Product_NCP\Archive"
    folder.
    Any suggestions? I should be able to run the package manually just by passing the "@Product" value, create Archive folder if it doesn't exist, load the data and archive the files.

    Yes
    1. Have a variable inside SSIS to get folder path. Set path based on your rule using an expression
    like
    (@[User::ProductName] == "Product" ? "\\....\Src\Product" : (@[User::ProductName] == "Product_NCP" ? \\....\Src\Product_NCP:..))
    similary archive
    (@[User::ProductName] == "Product" ? "\\....\Src\Product\Archive" : (@[User::ProductName] == "Product_NCP" ? "\\....\Src\Product_NCP\Archive" :..))

  • [SOLVED] Can't boot Windows 8 using grub2. invalid EFI file path

    English is not my native language. Please excuse typing errors.
    I have just successfully installed Arch linux with grub2 as its boot manager. I
    followed the arch beginner guide. I've used grub before and I'm familiar with
    it, so chose to use grub instead for efistub. I installed os-prober and
    ran grub-mkconfig to create the grub.cfg file. The problem now is that I recieve
    an error when I try to boot windows 8. I have two drives (/dev/sda and /dev/sdb)
    and I believe both are EFI-systems.
    However, it's not very important for me to use grub, so if booting into windows
    8 is easier using efistub, I will try that.
    The computer is ASUS ux32vd with a hybrid disk with 25GB on the SSD and 500GB on
    the hard drive. I believe the SSD part is used by Windows.
    This is the first error I recieved when I tried to boot windows.
    error: can't find command `drivemap'.
    error: invalid EFI file path.

    Then I tried to follow this post
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=150183 and made a new boot
    entry "Windows 82". And I got a new error:
    error: unspecified search type.

    I gave up trying to make grub work, so I uninstalled grub and deleted all the grub files I could find.
    # pacrem grub-efi-x86_64
    # rm -fr /boot/grub
    That last one I came to regret later on. So I installed rEFInd using the archlinux beginners guide. When I then tried to boot into windows It told me that /boot/grub/x86_64-efi/normal.mod was not found. I then reinstalled grub-efi-x86_64 and copied /usr/lib/grub/x86_64 to /boot/grub. Now everything works fine.

    The EFI stub loader is a Linux-only boot loader; however, it is possible to use the EFI stub loader in conjunction with a separate boot manager, such as rEFInd or gummiboot. In such a configuration, you'd use the boot manager to select the OS to boot (Windows or Linux, and possibly the specific Linux kernel), and the boot loader (the Windows loader or the EFI stub loader built into a specific kernel) will then take over booting the OS. In Arch, this is often easier to configure than is GRUB, since GRUB is very complex and its automated tools to help with setting things up often get it wrong.
    This is the first error I recieved when I tried to boot windows.
    error: can't find command `drivemap'.
    error: invalid EFI file path.
    Press any key to continue...
    The "drivemap" command in GRUB is generally used when booting a BIOS-mode boot loader, and in fact your "Windows Recovery Environment (loader) (on /dev/sda2)" and "Windows 8 (loader) (on /dev/sda4)" GRUB entries are both built as for BIOS-mode Windows installations -- but the fact that your disks both use GPT means that Windows won't boot in BIOS mode on your computer. (This is one of the many things that the GRUB setup scripts can get wrong.)
    Then I tried to follow this post
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=150183 and made a new boot
    entry "Windows 82". And I got a new error:
    error: unspecified search type.
    error: file '/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi' not found
    Press any key to continue...
    Both your "Windows 8" and "Windows 82" entries refer to an EFI boot loader file called EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi on your EFI System Partition (ESP). This should be correct, but your Boot Info Script output doesn't show any evidence of such a file. Sometimes Boot Info Script misses such things, so you may want to check it just to be sure. Your ESP is /dev/sda1, and it looks like it's being mounted at /boot/efi by default, so check for the /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft directory tree, and for /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi in particular. If that file isn't present, then something is wrong -- perhaps you mistakenly erased the ESP when you installed Linux, thus wiping out the Windows boot loader; or perhaps the file was accidentally deleted somewhere along the way. (Note that on FAT, which the ESP uses, case is irrelevant, and in fact case varies between the filenames reported by Boot Info Script and what's recorded in your configuration files.)
    You do have another boot loader file that may be a duplicate of the Windows boot loader: EFI/BOOT/bkpbootx64.efi. This filename is generally created by Ubuntu's "Boot Repair" tool, which IMHO can do as much harm as good, especially on a system that's not booting Ubuntu. If you ran this tool, though, it's conceivable that bkpbootx64.efi is a copy of the Windows boot loader, so copying it to EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi might get things working. OTOH, the Windows boot loader relies on other files to do its job, so if they're not present, copying the Windows boot loader to its original location won't be sufficient.
    If you can't get things working based on the preceding suggestions, I recommend you run a Windows repair tool. These are accessible from a Windows recovery disc. Such disc images are readily available on the Internet, but I don't happen to have any links handy. Try Microsoft's own site; images obtained from random third-party sites might contain malware. Once you've done this, chances are the computer will boot directly into Windows. You'll then need to either restore GRUB as the default boot loader or install another boot loader or boot manager.  You can use the Windows "bcdedit" command to do the former, as in:
    bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\arch-grub\grubx64.efi
    You'll need to type this from an Administrator Command Prompt window.

  • Create logical file path and read it in main program

    Hello Experts,
    My requirement is, I have to read files from application server.
    File path/ Directory is different in different system (systid). i have to read all files starting with (xyz*) from mentioned directory.
    This path i must define in logical path.
    Following are the steps i followed.
    1)   In FILE (TCODE) i have created a logical path and assigned a physical path to it.
    2)   I have created logical file ( I am not sure about this, as i dont have to create logical file, i just need to read file from above path starting with xyz*,  but FM FILE_GET_NAME requires logical file name so i have created it).
    3) I will pass logical file name to FM FILE_GET_NAME and recieve physical file path(with file name which i can ignore).
    these all steps i found on SDN. but its not working.
    FM FILE_GET_NAME is always returning same file path ( Not even close to what i have defined ).
    I can not read data from Table path as it will return physical path as it is, but i need it replaced with system id.
    Any suggestion will be really helpful.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Amar

    Hi Amar,
    one difficulty defining physical path name is to know the right Syntax group.
    For example if you habe OS Linux, you need Syntax Group UNIX here. In Table OPSYSTEM you can see, which OS (OPSYS) needs which FILESYS (Syntax Group).
    If you always get a wrong physical path, this may be caused ba a wrong choice of the Syntax Group. Only the correct one will lead to the correct path.
    Regards,
    Klaus

  • A column in a table has physical file path (I want to get file size of those docs from the OS)

    Experts!!
    I have a table that holds the physical file path of files in one of its columns. It does not give a link, just the physical file path.
    For example,---- C:\bu\test.pdf   and let us say the file size is kb according to the OS.
    Is there any way I can obtain the file size of the files from the physical path?
    for example, the file size of the test.pdf file in the example here using t-SQL?
    Much Appreciation

    Hey there... thanks for the response......I found the following as a solution for my problem. But my problem is the SP created using the method needs a directory as a parameter. How can I pass the directory from a table that holds my directory?

    How do I pass the directory from my table?

  • File path for application server file

    Hi All,
                 I have a file 'abc.doc' stored on the application sever.
                I want to crate a document using the BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE and store this file
                What is the file path that I need to pass into the bapi.
    Please help
    Warm Regards
    Sunil Kumar.

    Hello Sunil
    You are right. That's the file path you should specify. It looks like your application server is running on UNIX platform. You can use transaction AL11 to locate your file and specify the file path in normal unix format. If this doesnt work, you can try prefixing your file path with "file:// ".

    I want to make it pull the photo array from a dynamic XML file
    Yet nothing I try seems to be working - I was hoping someone could look at these snippets and tell me if I'm doing something incorrectly
    Objective:
    To make the swf file - pull its photo array - from a dynamic XML file path
    Scenario:
    http://www.reallivingtours.com/tours/viewTour.php?id=2092
    When that URL is called by a browser
    An XML file called 2092.xml is created in a /tmp/ directory
    viewTour.php passes the ‘dynamic’ file path to the swf via the params
    <param name="movie" value="slideshow.swf?file=tmp/<?php echo $tourID; ?>.xml">
    <param name="flashvars" value="&file=tmp/<?php echo $tourID; ?>.xml">
    The original AS2:
    var xml:XML = new XML();
    xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    _root.xmlPath == undefined ? xml.load("settings.xml") : xml.load(_root.xmlPath);
    The modified AS2 - I've done:
    var filePath:String = new String();
    filePath =_root.file;
    var xml:XML = new XML();
    xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    _root.xmlPath == undefined ? xml.load(new URLRequest(filePath)) : xml.load(_root.xmlPath);
    Can you see anything I'm doing incorrectly?
    Thank you very much for your time and attention
    Benn

    Thanks to webqa - I've gotten a little closer to resolving this
    my debugging tells me that i have an undefined error
    I'm thinking - xml.load(filePath)
    is not recognizing the string as a file path to the XML
    Does anyone have any suggestions? thank you
    var filePath:String = new String();
    filePath =_root.file;
    var xml:XML = new XML();
    xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    _root.xmlPath == undefined ? xml.load(filePath) : xml.load(_root.xmlPath);
