Passing FORM parameter to DataFormWebPart
Hi,
I'm very new to DataFormWebPart and the whole designer topics. I hope somebody could help me or at least direct me to the right place.
My problem is:
- I created a standard custom list in SharePoint
- On the new item form (newForm.aspx) I placed a DFWP
- On my newForm.aspx there is a dropdown lookup field
- I want to pass the selected value to the DFWP
What I did yet:
- Created a DFWP
- Created a parameter called Param1
- Set Param1 source to Form
- Set Param1 Form field to my dropdown list called ddField
I tried to just write out Param1 value:
Param1: <xsl:value-of select="Param1" />
But I can not get it's value. What did I wrong? Should I somehow refresh DFWP to get ddField selected value? I have no more idea.
Any help would appricated!
Thanks!
I'm not a developer! I'm an infrastructure engineer! Please be patient on the development forums! :)
Hi,
If it is not a “must” behavior to use the Data Form Web Part for your requirement, I will suggest you use JavaScript to catch the selected value of the Lookup field and generate
the corresponding content using JavaScript Client Object Model. With JavaScript, we can achieve more complex and flexible functionalities from client side.
Get the selected value of the drop down menu:
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/656/Using-JavaScript-to-handle-drop-down-list-selectio
http://jsfiddle.net/aHxdS/1/
Query list items using JavaScript Client Object Model with CAML:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ms467521(v=office.15).aspx
A nice tool to generate CAML statement:

Generate HTML dynamically in a page using JavaScript:
http://blog.schettino72.net/posts/javascript-html-generation.html
http://www.w3schools.com/jquery/jquery_dom_add.asp
http://marcgrabanski.com/building-html-in-jquery-and-javascript/
We can add the JavaScript into the NewForm page via Content Editor Web Part:

Passing a parameter from one form to another
Hi
I'm trying to pass a parameter from one form to another. I've read lots of postings about this, and I have succeeded in calling the second form using code behind one of the existing Portal buttons (insert). Here is the code:
DECLARE
pro_id NUMBER;
pro_link VARCHAR2(1200);
BEGIN
pro_id := p_session.get_value_as_number(
p_block_name => 'DEFAULT',
p_attribute_name => 'A_PRO_ID');
pro_link := portal30.wwv_user_utilities.get_url(
'CINTRA_APP.PRO_LINK_1',
'WKG_PRO_ID',pro_id,
'_WKG_PRO_ID_cond','=');
PORTAL30.wwa_app_module.set_target(pro_link,'CALL');
END;
Trouble is, the parameter does not get passed. This could be because:
the field I'm trying to populate is based on an LOV ?
the target form is not set up to receive parameters? (I read this somewhere, but how do you do it?)
Thanks
ManfredDear InoL
My Header Form coding as follows.
When I press the button to move to the lines the following code executes
PASSING FORM CODING;
DECLARE
pl PARAMLIST := GET_PARAMETER_LIST('PL_AT');

IF NOT ID_NULL(pl) THEN
DESTROY_PARAMETER_LIST(pl);

pl := CREATE_PARAMETER_LIST('PL_AT');
ADD_PARAMETER(pl,'P_AT',TEXT_PARAMETER,:HWSI_ASSET_TAG);
CALL_FORM('E:\IT_SYSTEM\6i\HWDYNAMICINFO.FMX',NO_HIDE,DO_REPLACE,NO_QUERY_ONLY,PL);
END;
RECEIVING FORM CODING;
Written on WHEN_NEW_FORM_INSTANCE
BEGIN
IF :PARAMETER.P_AT IS NULL THEN
GO_ITEM('NZK_HW_DYNAMIC.OS_ASSET_TAG');

Passing a parameter list from a web form to a report
I am using FORMS6 and REPORTS6, with OAS 4.07 on NT4 (SP3).
In client server mode all works well - i am able to pass parameter lists from my calling form to the relevant reports and view them (using RUN_PRODUCT).
However, when i try and do the same by deploying the web Form I come up against several obstacles.
1. How do you pass a parameter list over without using "Paramform=Yes" - a waste of time seeing a html version of the reports parameter form when all the necessary parameters have been selected in the form.
2. if i use web.show_document, with paramform=no, the report runs but with it's default settings.
Any light you can shed would be greatly appreciated.Hi Tony ,
Launcher form is just a simple form(Non database form) which will be having all fields that is required for the report and button to run the report .
When button pressed trigger
Pass all the parameters which are required using Run_product tool & Call the report by Web.Show_document
Best way to see the report is in .pdf format in adobe acrobat reader
I hope it will help you

Extremely URGENT! How to pass a parameter from html to form?
Hi Guys,
I want to be able to pass a parameter to a Pre-Query trigger (from a html page to an Oracle form.) Right now, I hard coded the Pre-Query trigger

Pass a parameter from a report to a customization form of another report
Hello,
I want to pass a parameter value from a report to the customization form of another report and display it in the text field in the customization form as a default value. I have 2 variables in the customization form and in one of them, I would like to display the default value from a previous report.
Thank you
Jayasree1. go to the manage component screen of the report
2. open the package body (pl/sql source)
3. search for 'procedure show_parms'
4. scroll down till you find
-- call to parameter form rendering engine
5. copy the procedure call below it
a) you will have to pass <PORTAL_SCHEMA>.wwv_utlglobl.RUN_AS_NORMAL to p_mode
b) remove the parameters p_reference_path, p_redirect_url, p_exec_mode, p_page_url ( or you can pass null to them)
c) 'p_parm_names' will contain your 2 parameters
d) you can pass values to 'p_parm_values' which you want to be displayed in the parameter forms.
6. you can call this procedure from a dynamic page and link the dynamic page to your first report -
Hi, i'm currently building a back-end for a small site. What
i'm trying to do is enable a user to edit and update an article.
I've got a dynamic table, i'm trying to use a URL form parameter to
pass the unique ID of an article to a form that brings up the
article for editing, but its not working, its just bringing up the
same record whatever link is clicked in the dynamic table. Can
somebody point out whats missing? I'm using PHP & mySQL.
Thanks, any help appreciated.You don't specify what language you're using, or how you're
populating your
form.
If you're using a recordset to populate your form, simply
edit it and then
set the filter to your ID field, and use the URL parameter to
capture your
variable. Make sure in your recordset for your page to
display the records
you put the same variable name as you use on your previous
page with the url
variable.

Unable to pass the parameter to other portlet
Hi,
I am trying to pass the parameter from one portlet to other portlet using the convention below...
Example say you have two reports on a page dept and employee. You want to refresh employee report by clicking on
the dept in the department report in the same page.
(1) Create the first report based on the query
SELECT htf.anchor('http://domain/servlet/page?&_pageid=97&_dad=portal_dad&_schema=portal_schema&_mode=3&dept_code='||DEPTNO,DEPTNO) Department,
dname FROM scott.dept;
(2) Create a 2nd report
select * from EMP where DEPTNO = :dept_code
(3) In the the additional pl/sql code section before display page on the 2nd report do this
portal30.wwv_name_value.replace_value(
l_arg_names, l_arg_values,
p_reference_path||'.dept_code',portal30.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(nvl(get_value('dept_code'),10)));
(4) Created a page and added these reports as portlets.
In point (4) I am not getting the value of selected deptno in 'dept_code'. It is always taking the default value as '10'...
I like to have the quick solution for this so that I can show the demo to my client...
Thanks in Advance
SudheerHi Ali,
We can add parameterized queries to any TableAdapter (and controls to accept parameter values and execute the query) using the
Search Criteria Builder Dialog Box.
For detail information, please refer to the following article to create a Windows Form to Search Data:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hbsty6z7.aspx
In addition, this issue is more related to Windows Form. I would suggest open a new thread in Windows Form forum if you have any more qestions:

How to pass Cascading Parameter in SSRS using Java
How to pass Cascading Parameter in SSRS using Java---
We are having a problem with dependent parameters.There are three drop down--
1.first dropdown is of Country.When we select a country--Accordingly next dropdown(State)will populate
2.Second dropdown is of State. When we select a state--Accordingly next dropdown(City)will populate.
I have three data sources are
CountryList-
SELECT CountryRegionCode, Name
FROM Person.CountryRegion
ORDER BY Name
StateList
SELECT StateProvinceID, StateProvinceCode, CountryRegionCode
FROM Person.StateProvince
WHERE CountryRegionCode = @CountryRegionCode
ORDER BY StateProvinceCode
CityList
SELECT StateProvinceID, City
FROM Person.Address
GROUP BY StateProvinceID, City
HAVING (StateProvinceID = @StateProvinceID)
ORDER BY City
Ihave to show report that has been deployed on server on the besis of these parameters
I am using ReportViewer in JSP Page through url--
http://192.168.90.149/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fReport+Project1%2fCascading_Parameters&rs:Command=Render&rs:parameter=true&Country="+Country+"&State="+State;
But it is not accepting parameter if they are cascaded.It is working fine if Both parameters are independent.
Edited by: kaushlee on May 11, 2010 9:22 PMTake a look at set_custom_property:
public static final ID SETTEXT = ID.registerProperty("SETTEXT");
public boolean setProperty(ID pid, Object value)
if (pid == SETTEXT)
String text = value.toString();
and in forms
set_custom_property('beans.bean_item', 1, 'SETTEXT', 'some text');

How to pass a parameter with more than one value to a report? (urgent)
Hi, all
I try to pass a parameter from a search form to a report in
which I would like to print out my search result. My problem is
I can pass the parameter to report but only one value which my
cursor points to. could anyone tell me how to pass a list of
value to the report? my trigger in form like this:
declare
PL_ID PARAMLIST;
sc_no books.c_no%type;
begin
PL_ID := GET_PARAMETER_LIST('parametername');
IF NOT ID_NULL(PL_ID) THEN
DESTROY_PARAMETER_LIST(PL_ID);
END IF;
PL_ID := CREATE_PARAMETER_LIST('parametername');
IF ID_NULL(PL_ID) THEN
MESSAGE('PL/SQL held against Button failed to execute');
RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
END IF;
ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'PARAMFORM', TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO');
sc_no := :searchlist.c_no; --(c_no is the value I want to pass
but not only one.)
ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'pamametername', TEXT_PARAMETER, sc_no);
RUN_PRODUCT(REPORTS, 'reportpathname.rep', SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,
FILESYSTEM, PL_ID, NULL);
end;
Thank you in advance
DianaIs it your values in parameter NO separated by coma? And is it
parameter in where clause?
Do you want something like :
from table
where s_no in (NO) ?
If is answer "yes" you can create lexical parameter in report.
You can write in report sowething like:
select a.field1, a.field2,.....
from table a
&COND /* this is if is condition only one line after "from".
if you have more lien after where then you will put this &COND
in line where you want to have your multivalue.
Then in your trigger in form you should write:
sc_no := 'where a.sc_no in ('||:searchlist.c_no||')';
ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'pamametername', TEXT_PARAMETER, sc_no);
/* again this is if you have only one line with WHERE ili
conditions */
or you will write:
sc_no := 'and a.sc_no in ('||:searchlist.c_no||')';
ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'pamametername', TEXT_PARAMETER, sc_no);
It will substitute line in which is your conditions with
multivalue. -
Omniportler HTML Layout - How do I pass a parameter to another page?
How do I pass a parameter to another page from an HTML Layout like I can with the Tabular layout?
If I have a parameter I can pass it from one page to another, i.e. if I have a list of customers and I want data for that particular customer alone, I can create a page parameter form or an omniportlet where I would then pass the value of that portlet to the page. I would use a string like the following: https://test.test.com/test/page?_pageid=536,7483646&_dad=portal&_schema=test&customer=##CUSTOMER_NAME##

Passing a parameter to a method in the dataTable's value attribute
Hi,
I'm brand new to JSF, so I might be overlooking something really simple. I'm trying to use a dataTable to display data from a database. It works fine until I try to pass a parameter to "#{customer.all}". My backer bean is ready (or so I believe) and is included after the jsp code snippet. What do I need to do to the jsp/jsf code in order to pass this parameter?
jsp code:

Thanks for the response. Let me see if I understand. Let's say I have a login.jsp page, and after the user logs in I want to display all of his orders in a dataTable in summary.jsp. You're saying I should actually run the query in LoginBean.java after doing the submit, something like this right?

Passing form values to a Servlet
I am trying to pass form value to a servlet once the user presses the submit button. How can I get access to the form values?
ThanksTry this in your servlet.
HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);
System.out.println(request.getParameter("xxxxx").toString());
xxxx is the parameter name..
Doesn't this work? -
Hi all
i need to pass as parameter a global variable (:global.id_res) from a form A to a form B
that's what i did:
in the form A i create a parameter:
id_res
in a when-button-pressed trigger i wrote:
:parameter.id_res := :global.id_res;
call_form'<form B path>',no_hide,no_query_only,share_library_data,:parameter.id_res);
in the form B:
i created a parameter id_res
in a post-logon trigger i wrote:
:blk_name.id_ris := :parameter.id_res;
so i expect to have the passed parameter in :blk_name.id_ris.
that's not. it doesn't work.
what are the problems?
thank you!As your value is already in a GLOBAL variable you don't need to do anything to pass it - just read it in the called form.
If you want to read a global but don't know whether it exists, do a default_value(...) on it first. -
I have the following code on one of my views:
<bsp:call url="mysubctr.do" comp_id = "sub">
<bsp:parameter name = "r_prg_model" value = "<%= controller->r_prg_model %>" />
</bsp:call>
Now, I would like to move this section to an <IFRAME> (to enable "local" scrollbars).
I know how to pass a parameter to an <IFRAME> (by adding ?myParam=myValue), but this does not work with reference variables.
Is there a way to pass a reference variable as well?
Best regards,
DanielHi Ankur,
I tested your coding.
Height = "100%" does only work in IE. Mozilla or NN don't show any scrollbars.
If you use height = "99%", IE interprets it as "99% of the surrounding tag", while Mozilla or NN interpret is as "99% of the entire screen".
This is the code I used. It looks OK in IE, but Mozilla shown no scrollbars at all:
