Passing in parameters to method

I have 4 parameters that I am trying to pass into a method, but for some reason it only ever captures the material (the first one).  The parameters are set to import, and I can see in debug that the container is populated, and lc_material successfully gets populated, but then for the rest the data doesn't get populated and instead the container value gets initialised by the SWC_SET_ELEMENT statement.  Any ideas?
SWC_GET_ELEMENT CONTAINER 'Material' lc_material.
SWC_SET_ELEMENT CONTAINER 'MaterialDescription' lc_maktx.
SWC_SET_ELEMENT CONTAINER 'MaterialGroup' lc_matkl.
SWC_SET_ELEMENT CONTAINER 'BaseUnitOfMeasure' lc_uom.

thank you for your reply sir, but I guess this will not work for me since showDetails is a method inside the empBean which accepts one parameter. I need to call it from an expression value and pass it a parameter from there. May be I didn't understand well what you are implying. Here is the definition of my bean:
package view;
import java.util.List;
import java.util.logging.Logger;
import javax.annotation.PostConstruct;
import javax.ejb.EJB;
import javax.faces.application.FacesMessage;
import javax.faces.context.FacesContext;
import model.Emp;
import model.EmpSessionEJBLocal;
public class EmpManagedBean
@EJB
EmpSessionEJBLocal empSessionEJBLocal;
Emp emp;
private Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(this.getClass().getSimpleName());
@PostConstruct
public void init()
emps = empSessionEJBLocal.getEmpFindAll();
private List<Emp> emps;
public EmpManagedBean()
public void setEmps(List<Emp> emps)
this.emps = emps;
public List<Emp> getEmps()
return emps;
public String showDetails(Emp emp)
this.emp = emp;
return "DETAILS";
public Emp getDetails()
return emp;
public String update()
emp = empSessionEJBLocal.mergeEmp(emp);
return "SAVED";
}

  • How does one pass import parameters to a report within a method?

    Hello all,
    Well how does one  pass import parameters to a report which is within a method ...end method.
    for example :
    method 123
    SUBMIT reportname using selection '1000'
    endmethod .
    Here we need to pass values into the selection screen and run the report for those values.
    The values are say 'ABC'   (  tablename "DEF" and field name "HIJ" ).
    I hope the question is clear, awaiting your response
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sandeep.

    Go to SE24
    Parameters: Give the Parameter name, Typing method is "Type" is the domain type that u are selecting, say for e.g :  Parameter is "P_CONT" , its associated type "CHAR32" etc
    For Select Options:  Parameter name say "S_CUST", Type"importing". For this you need to give an associated type which must be created as "TABLE TYPE " in SE11. That table type needs to have a "LINE TYPE" .
    LINE TYPE is a Structure created with components "SIGN, OPTION, LOW & HIGH" for select-Options.
    NOTE: for a Table type related to Customer data fields "say KUNNR", the line type created must have the Component Type and data Type corresponding to the Data Element associated with "KUNNR" ;i.e: "CHAR" etc.
    See if this is clear to you or revert back in case of any Confusion.

  • What is the better way to pass input parameters between components?

    Hi all,
    I had a dispute with a colleague about passing data between different WDP Development Components. The situation is like this:
    Colleague has a SearchWDP (parent) und I have a BrowseWDP (child). After searching for some objects and clicking a hit in the SearchWDP, the corresponding details should be shown in BrowseWDP, via passing a bunch of parameters such as selected item's id, etc.
    Now which of the following is the better practice:
    - Defining a node in BrowseWDP (child) with isInputParameter set to TRUE, creating a similar node from the same type (simply via ModelBinding, both WDPs are using the same model) in SearchWDP, and defining a mapping between them so that SearchWDP fills the input nodes. From BrowserWDPs perspective, I'd call this Pull method.
    or...
    - Defining a node in BrowseWDP (child) with isInputParameter set to FALSE, creating a setter method in BrowseWDP Interface Controller for the collection (to be passed as parameters) and calling a wdContext.nodeBlaBla().bind(pInputParameterFromModelType). From BrowserWDPs perspective, I'd call this Push method.
    The colleague's argumentation in favor of Push has not convinced me at all and I'd like to ask your opinions. Is there a best practice or recommendation for this scenario? TIA
    ps: Any answer will be rewarded.

    Hi Cuneyt,
    Refer the links below, they are very informative!
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/22/15a441cd47a209e10000000a155106/content.htm
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/67/cc744176cb127de10000000a155106/content.htm
    These links are a part of the WebDynpro ABAP documentation, but the concepts are same for WDA and WDJ.
    Considering your scenario, I would recommend the first alternative you have mentioned (if you refer the second link its called External Context Mapping), where component controller context node of component A (SearchWDP) is the source for Interface controller context (same name) of component B (BrowseWDP).
    Thanks.

  • Passing an obj-c method pointer as a parameter

    Hi,
    I'm working my way through the cryptic sound API on the iPhone.
    The AudioServicesAddSystemSoundCompletion function in the examples requires a callback function pointer to be passed to it in the 4th parameter. All the examples use a c-style static function as the callback parameter.
    I would like instead to pass a reference to given obj-c method from a given object instance. Is that possible?
    Basically we would have something like this (very simplified):
    @interface test : NSObject {
    -(void)completionCallback:(SystemSoundID) mySSID,(void *) myURLRef;
    @end
    @implementation test
    -(void)completionCallback:(SystemSoundID) mySSID,(void *) myURLRef
    // do something here
    -(void) someMethod
    // .. code to initialise variables ssid, myURLRef, etc
    AudioServicesAddSystemSoundCompletion (
    ssid, NULL,NULL,
    /* HERE, need pointer to completionCallback in current object */,
    (void *) myURLRef );
    @end
    Any help much appreciated!
    Cheers
    Ben

    The NSInvocation class can wrap up an object, a selector, and a set of parameters in a single object; calling its invoke method on an instance will call the selector on the object, passing the parameters. You could have your context pointer be an NSInvocation, and your callback function simply call invoke on it.
    Unfortunately, invocations are a bit of a pain to build. If you poke around online, you may find helper classes to make it easier.

  • How pass url parameters on init webdynpro app.?

    Hi all,
    i want to pass a parameter to my wd app. when its start. How can i do it? where do i have to do it?
    Thanx in advance
    CP

    You can define parameter using two methods:
    1. Via properties of the iview you have created, system will pass these parameters automatically to the iview.
    2. Via Code, you can use Portal Navigation and pass parameters at runtime. Check following sample code:
              WDPortalNavigation.navigateAbsolute(
                        "ROLES://portal_content/myIview/LoadEmployees",
                                    WDPortalNavigationMode.SHOW_INPLACE,
                                    (String) null,
                                    (String) null,
                                    WDPortalNavigationHistoryMode.NO_DUPLICATIONS,
                                    (String) null,
                                    (String) null,
                                    "action=E");
    The last parameter is for passing parameters, in the example parameter name: action and its value: E.

  • Passing multiple parameters to a portlet

    Hi All,
    I have created a portlet form a taskflow, and using the WSRP Producer connection I am adding this portlet into a new application's JSF page.
    1. Is it possible to create a portlet that can accept multiple parameters?
    2. is it possible to map a portlet method to a method in new app.
    3. is there some implicit event that can be passed when all of the parameters are passed to the portlet.
    What my requirement is:- I have to send some 4-5(String) parameters from the new application to the portlet application.
    what would be the sequence in which the setters of this parameters would be called in the Portlet app?
    can you please tell me if this is possible, and how to do it. Some tutorial would help.
    Regards,
    ND

    Your question is WebCenter related and you should ask it in the forum {forum:id=354}.
    Anyway, you can pass multiple parameters to a portlet. Define the parameters as parameters of the corresponding bounded TaskFlow. When the taskflow is wrapped as a portlet producer by the JSF Portlet Bridge all the taskflow parameters will be exposed as separate navigational portlet parameters. If you consume the portlet at some page, then the portlet parameters will be bound to PageDef variables and you can use these variables to pass parameter values to the portlet. If you have to re-send new parameter values at runtime, just set the corresponding pageDef variables and refresh the <adfp:portlet> tag by PPR. Do not forget to mark the portlet's region binding in the PageDef as RefreshIfNeeded, otherwise it will not get the new values and will not refresh.
    Look at the following article in the documentation about using navigational parameter for contextually linking of portlets:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/webcenter.1111/e10148/jpsdg_pages.htm#CHDJABHD
    If you have additional questions, please ask them in the WebCenter forums.

    Hi,
    I dont see any parameters that you are trying to pass in the below code.
    public String button1_action() {
    FacesContext context = javax.faces.context.FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExternalContext ec = context.getExternalContext();
    try {
    ec.redirect("http://xxx/paramTest.jsp");

  • Passing event parameters to copy of DECISION task TS20000118

    Hi.
    I have made a copy of the decision task TS20000118 which is the standard approve/reject user decision step.
    In the decision step, i have a link to ME13 transaction which is done by passing object_id and giving the "display" method as default method for the ZBUS3003 object which takes Info record number as key.
    My problem is users are restrcited by PORG auth object in ME13 also and along with Info record number, i have to pass porg, plant, vendor , material to ME13 link.
    I have defined event parameters to capture this 4 fields but i dont know where to pass this parameters as TS20000118  where the link appears in using the DECISION object and not the DISPLAY method,.
    I dont want to make this 4 fields as object key because it will mean altering many other things. Also, int he DISPLAY method based on info record number i cannot retrieve 4 fields bcos there mioght be multiple records for same info record number.
    Appreciate if you can let me know how i can pass event parameters to ME12 link in DECISION step of Task TS20000118 .

  • Passing URL parameters to WD application

    Hi!
    To pass URL parameters to WD application I currenly inbound plug 'defauld' (of type 'Startup') of main window. I use following code:
    types:
        begin of param_t,
          name type string,
          value type string,
        end of param_t.
      data: params type standard table of param_t.
      data: param like line of params.
      wdevent->get_data(
        exporting
          name = '_ALL_URL_PARAMETERS'
        importing
          value = params
    It works fine but this plug is called after init methods of the component controller an of the view. So if I want to do something with parameters, I must do in this plug.
    Is there way to pass URL parameters in a WD app. so that they were available from the very beginning of the application work i.e. in init method of the component controller etc.?
    Thanks!

    I had the same requirement too. There are a couple of threads on the subject as well, I've posted in one of them but had no answer:
    Re: Read URL Parameters programmatically
    The workaround i've used is this, it's definitely not as neat as I would like to since you end up having two initialization methods per controller, WDDOINIT and the one you create (for each controller you want to run code in using the received parameters). Nevertheless, it works:
    1) Create an event in your component controller, for example INIT_COMPLETED.
    2) Define a new method in your component controller, e.g. INIT_AFTER_WINDOW. This method receives an Importing parameter TYPE tihttpnvp. It uses this received HTTP parameters for the initialization logic and finally raises the INIT_COMPLETED event (This is the method that "replaces" WDDOINIT).
    3) In the Window's Inbound plug handler, you get the HTTP parameters (with wdevent->get_data) and afterwards call the method WD_COMP_CONTROLLER->INIT_AFTER_WINDOW (maybe you need to declare the usage previously in the Window to have the reference available).
    4) Finally, if you need some of the Views to be initialized afterwards the component controller's INIT_AFTER_WINDOW runs (for example to show some initialization messages), you'll have to replace the WDDOINIT method with an INIT_AFTER_COMPCTRL method and subscribe it to the component controller's INIT_COMPLETED event.
    I hope you got the idea, and more importantly, that we get some cleaner solution from SAP for achieving this in the future.

    INIT_AFTER_WINDOW is the method to be called on step 3
