Passing page parameter to form object in Porlet

How can I pass a page parameter to a Portlet that contains a form? I wish to set the default value of a dropdown item in the form based upon a page parameter. Thanks.

I have found that when you set a value for a bound variable in the customise screen you cannot clear it. For some reason it seems to be stored as a null value somewhere and it always over-rides any page parameter setting.
Try renaming the parameter in your report. Make it public as before and then link it to the page parameter (you probably don't need to rename this, but it might be a good idea to make it more than just the letter p). Watch out - parameters in the url are case sensitive.

Hi,
I create a Oracle Report as a Portlet in Portal (create Report Definition File Access and check on the option "Publish As Portlet" in the on the last step). My report has an "Additional User Parameter" and I has let it "Visible to user".
When I put this portlet in my Portal page, I can see this parameter in the property/parameters of this page. However I cannot transfer my page parameter to this portlet parameter. Other portlets in this page (non-Oracle-Report portlets) are working fine with my page parameter.
Please advice.

I want to make sure we are talking about the same thing:
After you add the portlet to the page, you go to the page properties, then the parameters tab, then there is a section at the bottom called "Portlet Parameter Values" where you can click and expand your portlet to see your portlet parameters.
Is it here where your parameters just don't show up?
If it is, try the following:
- Add the portlet to another page and see if it still behaves the same.
- Mark the parameters in the portlet as being non-public, re-generate portlet (on manage tab), then mark them as being public, re-generate and then try the above again (add to another page).

Passing date parameter from forms to report

Hi,
I'm using forms and reports 6i.
I want to pass one date parameter from forms to reports.
Using
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'P_FROM_DATE',TEXT_PARAMETER,:FROM_DT);
giving me error REP-0091- Invalid value for parameter 'P_FROM_DATE'
This i think is because report expects date and here it is converted as varchar.

Correct.
Open the report in the builder and under Data Model -> User Parameters, Go to the Property Inspector of P_FROM_DATE. Under Parameter, set Datatype as Character instead of Date.
Hope this should work. and tell me if it works(coz it wokred for me).

Pass Page Parameter to next page

Dear all,
How do I pass a Page Parameter from one page to the next page?
I have an omniportlet - SQL portlet defined, where one of the items is a link. I want one of the columns to be a hyperlink to a detail page. So I have to figure out 2 things:
- how do I dynamically create the hyperlink
- how do I catch the parameter value on the detail page?

Two things you may want to look at --
1) The URL you indicate below while accurate is not considered a "durable" URL and could change. In fact it does change in the 10.1.4 portal version and will also be different across environments (dev, test, production ...) . If you look at your on-line portal help, do a search under "direct access URL", it has a decent write-up on how to do exactly that. In general on pre 10.1.4, it is http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/pls/<dad>/url/page/<pagegroupname>/<objectname> such as http://portal.mycompany.com/pls/portal/url/page/mypagegroup/mypage/mysubpage. This changes slightly in 10.1.4.
2) For the receiving page to receive the parameter, it also needs to have a page parameter setup on it. If you set it up under the same name it should work. Also, in your example below, the ? in front of the parameter name ##DBCOLUM## should be a &. (? is used for the 1st parameter on a page _pageid in this case, and & is used for all other paramters)

How to read value of page parameter from form?

I have the following in 'before displaying the form. ' in the form based on procedure.

Following is the output on the form:

Looks like the form is only getting the sessionid parameter and not getting
the other parameter from the URL.
Following is the URL for the page on which the form is places:

&_schema=PORTAL&agreement=DG-2474/1
Can anyone tell me how I can get the value of page parameter 'agreement' in the form?

Hi,
It depends how you are setting your parameter also as there are different types of parameters in portal. The best is to use the page level parameters..
Please read the developers gide Section 8.3 for more details....

Using page parameter causes "form" layout report to become "tabular"

I did a diff on the HTML generated for the page and found this:
Page Parameter Used:
<TH ALIGN="Left" SCOPE="col">Employer Auth Treatment</TH>
Page Parameter Not Used:
<TH SCOPE="col" ALIGN="LEFT" VALIGN="TOP">Employer Auth Treatment</TH>
Notice that the VALIGN="TOP" is missing in the first one. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Passing URL parameter to form

Hi, i'm currently building a back-end for a small site. What
i'm trying to do is enable a user to edit and update an article.
I've got a dynamic table, i'm trying to use a URL form parameter to
pass the unique ID of an article to a form that brings up the
article for editing, but its not working, its just bringing up the
same record whatever link is clicked in the dynamic table. Can
somebody point out whats missing? I'm using PHP & mySQL.

You don't specify what language you're using, or how you're
populating your
form.
If you're using a recordset to populate your form, simply
edit it and then
set the filter to your ID field, and use the URL parameter to
capture your
variable. Make sure in your recordset for your page to
display the records
you put the same variable name as you use on your previous
page with the url
variable.

iAS Version 10g(9.0.4)
I created worksheet(graph) using Discoverer plus having 4 parameters. I published the
discoverer graphs as discoverer portlet in Oracle portal. However for this worksheet it shows
(No parameters) in Page --> Properties --> parameter. I created simple parameter portlet with
4 items, this entry I need to pass to this discoverer portlet/Worksheet.
Any suggestion would help.

How to pass record Group from Forms with DATA_PARAMETER to Reports Server using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT?
When we use products on run time we are using data_parameter for passing record Groups to reports via run_product but now we have to use application server and reports server for same reports.
We met with <FRM-41214 Unable to run reports> for passing DATA_PARAMETER to reports server when used RUN_REPORTS_OBJECT.
How can we pass record Group from Forms with DATA_PARAMETER to Reports Server using RUN_REPORT_OBJECT?

My issues is that In need to Take a Parameter entered on Form1 one a page then upon click of insert I need to pass a parameter entered into that form and naviagate to another page containing 2 portlets 1 being another form and 1 being a dynamic page both of the portlets on the second page need to beable to access the parameter.
Since my last post I updated the PL/SQL code to better fit the situation and now have a different problem.
Ok.. So I'm still attempting to do the same thing a about. Here what I tried and the outcome.
1. I put following code in the succeful submission pl/sql procedure of the first form(the calling form).
What a suspected the follow code to do was navigate to the page containing my other from in a portlet. Which it did. Cool!

What I expected it to do is take the a.FLOWNAME from the url and input it into the FLOWNAME variable, but the FLOWNAME variable came across as blank and the FLOWNAME text area came accross as blank because the FLOWNAME parameter was never pulled.
What do you think?

I have a similar problem where I have a portlet X which accepts parameters using the <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams> tag in the provider.xml and it works if portlet X is directly on page A. However, because I need to wrap portal security around this portlet declaratively, I will need to apply security on this page A and then publish page A as a page portlet Z, then drop page portlet Z on another page, page B. (I hope you all been through this before to apply security around a portlet). By doing this - the parameters are no longer being passed into portlet X anymore.
To get around this - I will need to define page parameters for page A and map them to portlet X via the "Parameters" tab in edit mode and then define the same set of page parameters on page B and map them to the page portlet Z just to get the parameter passing working and flowing through to portlet X.
Is there anyway around this?
Do we always need to define page portlets in 10.1.4?
What does the <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams> tag do in 10.1.4?
In 10.1.2 - the <passAllUrlParams>true</passAllUrlParams> tag was all you need to pass any number and type of parameters from a page B->page-portlet Z->portlet X
This feature seems to be missing in 10.1.4.

Pass Parameter with Form

It is a common and frequent question, but it has not been answered satisfactorily. The question is, how do I pass a parameter from a form in a Portal page to another page?
I have discovered that using a Dynamic Page, I can read parameters passed in by referencing them as bind variables in a PL/SQL block. For example, given a parameter of "bindMe" as in "http://portal_path/object.show?p_arg_names=bindMe&p_arg_values=hello", the following code will display it:

However, I am having trouble sending a form parameter out, in Portal format. By default, it will create the "?bindMe=hello" form, which isn't easily recognizable by Portal. I tried to setup a bind variable for an out-going parameter, but either it doesn't work that way, or I didn't set it up correctly. Any help would be appreciated.
Not interested in the JavaScript approach.

I've tried using the wwpro_api_parameters.get_value function, but it doesn't work. I keep getting a "not found" error for the page when trying to pass a parameter.

I want to be able to pass a parameter to a Pre-Query trigger (from a html page to an Oracle form.) Right now, I hard coded the Pre-Query trigger
(i.e. set_block_property('datablock_name', default_where, 'tableName.fieldName = '||:datablock.field)
I want to be able to assign a value to the above datablock.field from an URL (i.e. something like http://localhost/dev60cgi/ifcgi60.exe?form=MODULE1.fmx&userid=&otherparams=fieldx=parameterSample

Passing parameter from Form to URL

I have a form with one field with LOV (combobox). When user chooses a value it should open the same page but with one parameter added. I tried out this:
OnChange JavaScript:
window.open('http://lesoprojekt.sk:7779/portal/page?_pageid=33,31392,33_31648&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&dep='||depno)
where depno is a form field and I need to pass its value.
But the URL result is only http://lesoprojekt.sk:7779/portal/page?_pageid=33,31392,33_31648&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&dep=
I need it as a page parameter because it is being passed to OmniPortlet.
Any help?

Yes, but your form which is getting invoked with this call needs to have this parameter (in object navigator).
If the name of your parameter is e.g. OWNPNAME you will have to add an parameter object in the form named OWNPNAME.
In addition, in the config section of your application in formsweb.cfg you will have to add :
otherparams=OWNPNAME=%OWNPNAME%
Then, you cann embed OWNPNAME within the url call
...&OWNPNAME=xyz
