Passing parameter values to another report using URL actions (reportserver)

Hi guys,
I have two reports that I link with eachother. For report A - B everything works perfect. When I try to do the same for report B - A it works, but the parameter value is not filled in.
=Iif(
Parameters!PAR_LinksEnabled.Value,
Globals!ReportServerUrl & "?" & Replace(Globals!ReportServerUrl, "_vti_bin/ReportServer", "")
& "Reporting/POS Reporting/Reports/POS Report.rdl&POS_ID=" & Parameters!CONNECTION_ID.Value & "&POS_LANG=" & Parameters!POS_LANG.Value & "&PAR_Date=%5BDate invoice%5D.%5BBonus Calendar - Week%5D.%5BBonus
week of year%5D.%26%5B" & Left(Parameters!YEAR_WEEK.Label, 4) + "%5D%26%5B" & CInt(Right(Parameters!YEAR_WEEK.Label, 2)) & "%5D",
Nothing
Even tho I specify the parameter he has to pass through, the report opens with parameter period : <select a value>. Anyone has an idea why such behaviour happens?
Thanks!

Hi Yvanlathem,
Per my understanding that you want to use the expression above to conditional add the hyperlink to pass the value to the parameter of anpother rreport via the URL in the SharePoint integrated mode report server, right?
I have check the expression you have provided and the issue can be caused by the wrong way you have write the expression to pass the parameter, please check detais information below to make sure you have pass parameter in the URL correctly:
Please modify the expression to below structure :
=Iif( Parameters!PAR_LinksEnabled.Value="Enabled", "URL",Nothing)
I saw you have use expression like "&POS_ID=" & Parameters!CONNECTION_ID.Value & "" which is incorrect, we need to set a report parameter within a URL, use the following syntax:
parameter=value(not Value=Parameter)
If you are using the following syntax like "Parameter1=Parameter2", both parameters and from different report, if you have add the "Go to URL" action from report2 to Report1, please make sure Parameter1 is from the Report1
and Parameter2 is from Report2, change the order will not work
More detail information:
Pass a Report Parameter Within a URL
So, In your scenario, please make sure the value is from one report's field (POS_ID) and the the parameter(CONNECTION_ID) is from another report (e.g:"&CONNECTION_ID=" &Fields!POS_ID.Value &"")

Can you clarify your scenario? Which is the case you're talking about?
1) You want to pass a parameter from OmniPortlet to a PL/SQL procedure.
2) You want to pass a parameter from a PL/SQL procedure to OmniPortlet.
In both cases the most obvious way of doing it is through request (URL) parameters.
Render a link in your portlet (either in OmniPortlet or using PL/SQL) that invokes a portal page, containing the other portlet.
Both OmniPortlet and PL/SQL allow you to wire and access page parameters.
Take a look at the Using Parameter and Events section of the Portal User's Guide and the Parameters and Events section of the Portal Developer's Guide.
Hope this helps,
Peter

Anthony -
Currently, functionality for retrieving the Metadata Token for a class constructor or member is not fully provided in the TestStand .NET Adapter API. The DotNetModule.GetConstructorMetadataToken() and DotNetModule.GetMetadataToken() methods only return the correct Metadata Token when the member/constructor prototypes have already been loaded. Thus, in the case of your code, when you call DotNetModule.GetMetadataToken(), the method is returning -1 because the member prototype for the Step you are referring to has not yet been loaded.
That means have to do a workaround for your stuff.

• Pass parameter value to another parameter.... User query in user parameter

Hello everyone, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Problem:
My report currently has 5 user parameters (3 Number, 2 Characters). I have an after parameter trigger that evaluates all the parameters to see which one has any value and then creates the “where clause”. Below is an example of two of the 5 parameters.
The function works fine, I just cut out all the other stuff for this issue.
function AfterPForm return boolean is
IF :P_JOB_ID is not null then
:P_WHERE_CLAUSE := 'where Job_num = :P_JOB_ID';
ELSIF :P_QUES_DESC is not null then
:P_WHERE_CLAUSE := 'where DESCRIPTION like :P_QUES_DESC’;
ELSE :P_WHERE_CLAUSE := ‘where JOB_NUM = 0';
The “P_WHERE_CLAUSE” is used as follows in a query.
Select job_num
from PROMOTION
&P_W_CLAUSE
Issue:
The query result can be anywhere from 1 to 50 job_num’s. I need to show the end user running this report the values (job_num) in a drop down list. They in turn will select one job_num which will be used to run the report. I tried putting the Select job_num from PROMOTION &P_W_CLAUSE in a User Parameter but that does not work. I get an error. I feel that I am approaching this the wrong way. Because in the end I would end up with two queries, one for the Select statement containing the P_W_CLAUSE and another with the final report. This issue is sort of like cascading prompt where the values from one (or more) parameters are used in the select of another user parameter which in turn the value selected will be used in the final report. Also this report will be used somewhere between 50 - 75 times per day so storing the values in a temp table might not work.

Sorry,
as I know depending parameters like you want are not possible in Reports. You can use one reports as parameter-report-only to use a second as your original report, but this is not perfect. Or use a tool like Application Express (which is able to have depending fields) in front of reports to build your parameter forms.

• How to pass hidden values to a report using reports6i

Hi,
I have created a fully running report
and calling this report from a java based application. Now i wish to write a query
which will filter the data on the basis of user id sent by java based application. This value can be in session or cookie. I need to send this value as a hidden variable and use this in the data model to write a query. Is this possible using reports 6i.
null

Shailesh,
Is is necessary to send the parameter hidden? You can use the cgicmd.dat file to put all the parameter in and on the url specify the key within the cgicmd.dat file. If you have a set of know values this might work, but if you are reacting to the parameter to create what is being used in the report it might be difficult. For more information on the cgicmd.dat file see the manual "Deploying Applications to the Web" at http://www.oracle.com/pls/use/use_asset_html.download_asset_form?p_user_id=100&p_asset_id=110924&p_url=http://technet.oracle.com/doc/dev2k.210/guide21/d2k_web.htm&p_queryid=2184408
Hope this helps a little.

• Pass parameter value from oracle reports to HTML

Hi,
Can anybody tell me if i can pass oracle reports6i parameter value to HTML.
Any ideas/suggestions would be helpful
Thanks
KAvitha

Kavitha,
I didnt quite understand your question. Do you mean you want to use the report parameter form and pass the values entered there to an html form where you will display the output based on the parameters entered by the user ?
If so, No. Not to the best of my knowledge. You can pass parameters from an html form to reports though, if this is what you are looking for.

• Pass parameter values for stored procedure in URL, possible?

Hi, everyone, Our system is Apex4.0.2 in Linux CentOS 5 on Oracle 11GR2, here is the procedure:
create or replace procedure test_public(Cust_id integer)
is
begin
owa_util.mime_header( 'text/xml', FALSE );
owa_util.mime_header( 'application/octet', FALSE );
-- Close the HTTP Header
owa_util.http_header_close;
htp.p(DBMS_XMLGEN.getXML('SELECT * FROM demo_orders where customer_id='|| cust_ID));
end;
+/+
the call to the stored procedure is SUCCESSFUL when Test_public has no parameters, like:
http://myserver/apex/myschema.test_public (OK)
the question is : I want to pass 3 parameters into my stored procedure(on production procedure), just don't know How?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Thanks, Vee, definitely working, I do appreciate your help.
I have to use Stored Procedure in Apex: my goal is to setup RESTful web service for IOS and Andriod alike, but APEX RESTful only supports SQL Report ( the RESTFUL check Box goes away with PL/SQL returning Query report, much to my surprise), I need expose some data and the same time I need insert/update some data when the client consumes our data, a PL/SQL based Report will do, but as I found out only simple SQL report has RESTful service, a Before REGION Process will do too, but web service connection WON'T fire that process (normal page display will fire the process) so I'm out of option.... Man I wish APEX REST is not so so basic....

Having trouble passing multiple values to another page via a popup SQL report
But when I want to pass another value, all goes bonkers and instead of the value of the field being passed the literal text is passed.
can someone look at my code below and see what may be wrong
Select '<a href="javascript:popUp2('''
|| 'f?p=&APP_ID.:950:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::'
|| 'P950_TYPE,P950_CODE:'
|| descr, Met
|| ''', 790, 460);"style="color:darkred; font-weight: bold;font-size: 90%">'
|| descr
|| '</a>' "Note"
Hi Frank,
You should close this parameters with single quotation. Try this -
Select '<a href="javascript:popUp2('''
|| 'f?p=&APP_ID.:950:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::'
|| 'P950_TYPE,P950_CODE:'
*|| 'descr, Met'*
|| ''', 790, 460);"style="color:darkred; font-weight: bold;font-size: 90%">'
|| descr
|| '</a>' "Note"
Hope this helps.

• How to pass the value from Sub report to main report

I have un report(mainreport) within a subreport(subreport).
With reporting services, how to pass the value from Sub report to main report?
thanks

Hi Alebet,
With reporting services to pass values from sub report in to main report is not supported directly.
But there are some workarounds through which you can get this .
There are two ways to get this.
1- Put your sub report query into some table. i mean to say through the subreport query get some temporary table.
2- Using this temporary tables data write some Scala function in the data base.
3- Now in your main report query return this scala function as a column.
4- Extract the column value where ever you want in your main report which is getting calculated from the subreport query. so you will be getting the values returned from the subreport in the main report.
This will definitely work fine as i have done some report in this way.
Another way of doing is that
1- prepare another data set with the same query as in sub report in the data tab.
2- then refer this 2nd dataset in your main report .
But better way will be the top one.
Anyway please let me know if you get the solution.
Thanks
Mahasweta

• Passing formula values to Crystal Reports from c#

in an old vb 6 application we used to be able to call a function called PESetFomula in the Crystal Reports viewer and pass it the name of the parameter and the value.
How do we do that now using Crystal Reports for VS 2013. I don't mean to set the criteria just to pass over parameters and values.
Bill

Hi Bill,
Moving the thread to Crystal reports for Visual Studio Space.
Using the .net SDK you could use the ReportDocument class to pass the parameter values to the report.

• Multiple selection list and passing that value to oracle reports

Hi
I need to create a multiple selection list and then based on use selection, I need to pass that value to oracle reports. Can any one help with steps on how I can do this. Thanks

Hi
Concatenate the multiple values into a string separated by comma and then pass that string to report as a parameter.
In report query, you have to use the lexical parameter using ' & '

• Passing Parameter values

Hi,
Iam trying to print a crystal report, but it is not prompting me to pass the parameter values.
i want user to pass parameter values.
Iam using VB.Net code to generate the reports.
Could plz help me

assuming v_seqprocess_id takes the process_id, I'd probably go with something like:
cursor sum_cur(p_process_id number) is
select sum(cheque_amt), sum(balance)
from table
where process_id = p_process_id;and call the cursor passing v_seqprocess_id into it.
That's if I had to do extra processing on top of getting the values, etc.
Otherwise, I'd go with:
insert into table2
select sum(cheque_amt), sum(balance)
from table
where process_id = v_seqprocess_id;Message was edited by:
