Passing the ID in the Query

Hi All ,
I have a multi parameter drop down consisting of the Customer  Name . My requirement is that whenever an user selects a
Customer Name from the list its id should be passed in my sql query .
The Multi Parameter  query : Select Distinct CustomerName,CustomerID from Customers
So for instance the user selects XYZ from the Multi Parameter drop down . Its ID should be passed in the main query that retrieves the results for the tablix .
Kindly Help
Thanks
Priya

Hi Priya,
If I understand correctly, you have a dataset parameter in the report. The parameter dataset is include CustomerName, CustomerID two fields. In main dataset, it have no CustomerName field. You want use CustomerName to filter main dataset data. Please refer
to the following steps to work around the issue:
Create another dataset (DataSet3) with CustomerName, CustomerID two fields.
In the tablix use following expression to replace CustomerID field:
=Lookup(Fields!CustomerID.Value,Fields! CustomerID.Value,Fields! CustomerID.Value,"DataSet3")
Add a filter in the DataSet3 with following values:
Expression: [CustomerName]
Operator: In
Value: [@CustomerName] (Note: Suppose the parameter named CustomerName.)
If there are any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know.

  • How to link 2 queries in 11g (passing the result of 1 query to another)?

    Hi,
    I am using 11g and I have 2 queries q1,q2. the first query returns a column I need to use in q2 to get my data.
    q1:
    select name, dept
    from x
    where dept = :p_y
    q2:
    select u, b
    from y
    where name = :*name* (from q1)
    when I tried to do that BIP created a bind parameter (name). when I ran get xml, no data came out of q2!
    my question is how can I pass a column from 1 query to another?
    I hope this is clear
    Thanks,

    Thanks for your reply. I am sorry if I wasn't clear, may be this will help
    I am converting oracle report 6i into BI publisher.
    in my report (invoice), I am going to pass only one parameter (*p_invoice_no*)
    Q1:
    select address_id, vendor_id, bill_date, x, y,z
    from t1
    where invoice_no = :p_invoice_no
    now I need to display the payer address info. the address come from 2 different tables based on address_id and vendor_id
    Q2:
    SELECT NAME,
    ADDRESS1,
    ADDRESS2,
    CITY,
    STATE,
    ZIP,
    FROM address_1
    WHERE address_id = decode(*:vendor_id*, '28',*:address_id*, NULL)
    union
    SELECT VENDOR name,
    VENDOR_ADDRESS1 address1,
    VENDOR_ADDRESS2 address2,
    CITY,
    STATE,
    ZIP ,
    FROM address_2
    WHERE vendor_id = :*vendor_id*
    and vendor_id <> '28'
    as you can see from Q2, the address depends on address_id, vendor_id from Q1. it will be so much easier
    if I could just do that instead of doing nested statements. you would think with 11g this should be
    easily achievable. am I wrong ?
    I hope this helps
    Thanks again,

  • Passing multiple values to the QUERY BDOC parameter?

    hi All,
    Below is my Query BDOC Anchor Before Query Execute even handler... I'm trying to pass multiple values to the         bq.Z_PartnerFunction query parameter... i.e.
    PARTNER_FCT in( '00000012','ZDIVMGR','ZAREADR')
    is it possible without creating new Query Bdoc ?
    ====================================
    Private Sub aempchoicewinTCWSearchTAnchor_beforeQueryExecute(ByRef bq As BusinessQuery, ByRef cancel As Boolean)
    If Not bq Is Nothing Then
            If sWcDummy = "Yes" Then
                    bq.WcDummy = sWcDummy
            End If
            bq.Z_PartnerFunction = "00000012"
            If ctrlZ_Territory.Value <> "" Then
                 bq.PRNB_TerrID = "*" & ctrlZ_Territory.Value
            End If
    End If
    End Sub
    ================================
    Thanks in advance
    Hetal

    Hi,
    it looks that you already enhanced the query BDoc because you have a new query parameter bq.Z_PartnerFunction, right?
    To which BDoc parameter is this BQ parameter mapped? And how looks the related where clause?
    For a single filter normally a "=" operator is used. Therefore your example with "in" won't work.
    If these three partner functions are fixed then you might hardcoded them directly in the where clause (supposed the BDoc is not used somewhere else where you don't want to have this filter).
    Or you might add 3 new BDoc parameters, add 3 new where clauses using a disjunction for them (and using an embracing bracket). In this case always all these 3 BQ parameters need to be filled (or all stay empty) to avoid a SQL syntax error.

  • Dynamically passing the values to IN query in JDBC

    Hi,
    I have a list which contains a single or multiple values which does have CustomerVO as a generic.Here i need to iterate the list pass these values to "IN" query.
    These should happen dynamically, as we dont know whether the list will hold a single or multiple value. If the list.size ==1 , then it contains a single value in it. Hence there is no need for a comma(,) in the IN query else we need to have it, like .... IN (Aaron,Bob). Please help me in this?
    Thanks.

    The procedure for that is usually something like:
    1. Output the first element.
    2. For any further elements:
    2a. Output ","
    2b. Output the element.

  • How to pass multiple query string values using the same parameter in Query String (URL) Filter Web Part

    Hi,
    I want to pass multiple query string values using the same parameter in Query String (URL) Filter Web Part like mentioned below:
    http://server/pages/Default.aspx?Title=Arup&Title=Ratan
    But it always return those items whose "Title" value is "Arup". It is not returned any items whose "Title" is "Ratan".
    I have followed the

    Please suggest me.

    Hi DH, sorry for not being clear.
    It works when I create the connection from that web part that you want to be connected with the Query String Filter Web part. So let's say you created a web part page. Then you could connect a parameterized Excel Workbook to an Excel Web Access Web Part
    (or a Performance Point Dashboard etc.) and you insert it into your page and add
    a Query String Filter Web Part . Then you can connect them by editing the Query String Filter Web Part but also by editing the Excel Web Access Web Part. And only when I created from the latter it worked
    with multiple values for one parameter. If you have any more questions let me know. See you, Ingo

  • Passing an argument in the SQL Query of a View Object

    Hi,
    It is possible that this question has been asked before, however I have searched for a half an hour in the forums and couldn't find a solution.
    I am also new to using JDeveloper and ADF. Here's the situation:
    I am developing an application that doesn't have to do anything else then displaying data from a database. Pretty straightforward actually.
    Now I have made a vew pages with several collapsible panels (af:showDetailHeader) and have setup the datasources (or so I thought).
    All that remains is:
    - drag & drop a view object, from the application module that I created, onto the collabsible panels, so a child element gets created which displays data from the database.
    - hack the layout so it looks like I want it to.
    The problem that I have is the following:
    I am using a 'User'-class that contains values I need when quering the database.
    That User-object is part of a user-session.
    What I want, for example, is to use the 'getPersonId()' function of that User-object and pass the argument to a SQL-query of a certain view-object.
    The query would become something like:
    'SELECT * FROM people WHERE people.personId = :someNumber'.
    Now I've read some stuff about variable binding, which is complemented by something like (backing bean code):
    getDBTransaction().getRootApplicationModule().getACertainViewObject().setWhereClauseParameter(1, user.getPersonId());
    The examples I have found that might match my wishes are not using business components, but EJB's. I am having difficulty with understanding the 'how'-part of variable binding.
    Also, I do not know enough of ADF to be able to create a situation like:
    'User loads page, collapsible panel 1 is fully shown, the others are undisclosed.'
    (meaning, that for panel1 a query has been executed.)
    'User clicks on collapsible panel 2 which triggers a backingbean that somehow retrieves data from a view object'.
    I would appreciate any help that somebody can give.
    If it is not too much of a problem, please provide code snippets in case you have a solution. I am new to ADF :(.
    -edit
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 in case that is of any importance.

    Hello Stijn,
    I didn't think about a referenced bean rule in the faces-config.
    I added it right away and I am now able to set parameters of a View-object, not using a page button and before the page loads. You made my day!
    In case anyone ever reads this post again, the summary of how to generate a table based on a View-object using dynamic parameters.:
    1a: Go to faces-config.xml -> Overview tab'
    1b: Go to the menuitem "Referenced Beans"
    1c: Click on 'new' and select the existing bean you want to access data from and input a name. In this example I use name="user"
    2: Create a View-object using the wizard.
    2a: Specify the query you want in the menuitem 'SQL Statement'.
    Add the 'parameters' you want to. You will have something like:
    "SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE table.columnname LIKE :someArgument".
    - hint: if you want the result to become something like:
    "SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE table.columnname LIKE '%someArgument%'" then you have to add the '%'-characters in your code itself (read: someClass.setParameter("%" + someArgument);).
    2b: In the menuitem 'Bind Variables' you have to add the variables you are referring to in the query. If you look at the query in 2a, then you have to add a variable with name "someArgument".
    2c: Add the View-object to a Application Module (create one if nessecairy).
    3a: Open a .jsp(x) file. Drag the View-object created in step 2 from the 'Data Controls'-pane to the page.
    3b: Click on the '+' of the View-object in the 'Data Controls'-pane and open 'Operations' and drag 'ExecuteWithParams' to your page as a button.
    3c: We do not want to use a button, the action has to be executed immediatly. So In the page source remove the lines that were created after dropping 'ExecuteWithParams'.
    3d: Right-click on the page and select "Go to Page Definition".
    3e: Go to the action id that is called 'ExecuteWithParams#', where # is a number.
    Change the id to something useful.
    3f: Change the NDValue so it corresponds with the value you want.
    Example:
    <action id="getAddressData" IterBinding="AddressesView1Iterator"
    InstanceName="MyHRServiceModuleDataControl.AddressView1"
    DataControl="MyHRServiceModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="95">
    <NamedData NDName="someArgument" NDType="java.lang.String"
    NDValue="#{user.personId}"/>
    </action>
    Note: It is possible to use the value of a Backing Bean in NDValue.
    Note 2: user is the bean I referred to in the faces-config.xml!
    3g: Under the executables item, add an 'invokeAction' to pass the parameter to the View-object before your JSP-file loads:
    <executables>
    <invokeAction Binds="getAddressData"
    id="loadAddressDataOfPersonIdInSession"
    Refresh="prepareModel"/>
    Thank Stijn Haus for this :)

    The correct way to handle this is to use bind variables.
    And use DBMS_XMLGEN instead of DBMS_XMLQUERY :
    create or replace procedure temp (
      p_mtr_id       in varchar2
    , p_from_date    in date
    , p_through_date in date
    is
      l_xml   CLOB;
      l_query VARCHAR2(2000);
      l_ctx   dbms_xmlgen.ctxHandle;
    begin
      l_query:=  'SELECT
        a.s_datetime DATETIME,
        a.downdate Ending_date,
        a.downtime Ending_time,
        TO_CHAR(ROUND(a.downusage,3),''9999999.000'') kWh_Usage,
        TO_CHAR(ROUND(a.downcost,2),''$9,999,999.00'') kWh_cost,
        TO_CHAR(ROUND(B.DOWNUSAGE,3),''9999999.000'') KVARH

          ||'00'',''24:'
          ||'00'', TO_CHAR(s_datetime+.000011574,''hh24:'
          ||'mi'')) downtime,
          s_usage downusage,
          s_cost downcost
        FROM summary_qtrhour
        WHERE s_mtrid = :P_MTR_ID
        AND s_mtrch   = ''1''
        AND s_datetime BETWEEN TO_DATE(:P_FROM_DATE,''DD-MON-YY'')

  • Passing a parameter in the query string

    When a string containing a + is passed as a parameter in the URL in the query string through a POST request, it is interpreted as two strings separated by a + and thus when the string is retrieved through a request.getParameter (),it returns the string with a space in place of the + sign.
    eg:
    String dblink = "/TCE/servlet/LoginService?name="+vSystemAccount.getAccountName()+"&password="+pw;
    Here the parameter pw contains a '+' sign which when retrieved by a request.getParameter() returns the parameter with a space in place of the '+' sign.How can i prevent this??

    Hi,
    In post method , the data is sent as request message body. The data is passed as query string in Get method not in Post method.

  • How to pass wild card '%'  value from the parameter to the query

    Hello everyone,
    I have following 2 problems
    1) I was trying to do some thing like below
    select * from emp
    where ename like 'J%'
    for this i have used the following code
    select * from emp
    where ename like :P_ENAME
    and before running the query in the parameter box i entered J%. But my report returns an error which says INVALID PARAMETERS REQUESTED.
    2) I have a req of passing both comma separated and wild card for the same parameter. If we take the same example as above,
    user should be able to enter
    a) JASON, SMITH, JOHN OR b) J%
    I have used comma separated value option of the parameter for the csv values and its working fine, but i need to add the wild card feature also to the same parameter.
    Can anyone please help me with these things?????
    Thanks in advance!!
    Raghu

    Hi Raghu,
    I guess you are in older version, You have to get into latest version to use %, it should work well
    you should use where ( ename like :P_ENAME ) or ( ename in (:P_ENAME)) for both the condition to satisfy.

  • Passing the values in the query dynamically

    Hi,
    I have a tricky requirement.
    1) Selection criteria will be 0I_FPER (interval for 0FISCPER). This obviously has FROM and TO periods.
    2) I need to read amount for the employees who resigned in TO period and need to find out their corresponding amount in FROM period & TO period.
    E.g.
    Resigned employees in TO period (NOV)       Amount paid in TO period (NOV)    Amount paid in FROM period (OCT)
    Ram                                                          10000                         8000
    Shiv                                                           0                           30000
    TO period column is straight forward. But problem is in the FROM column. How to pick only those employees from "TO" period and pass to "FROM" period.
    What you can suggest?
    Regards,
    Shailesh

    Hi Shailesh
    You will have to create 'New Selection' in either Row/Columns (wherever you wish to display the Key Figures) or you could also create a 'Restricted Key figure'.
    In  the First Selection / RKF.. select the ey Figure for  'No of Employee' and then select the Characteristic for the From/To Period (0I_FPER).
    In the second Selection / RKF..select the Key Figure for the Amount and then select the Char for the From/To Period (0I_FPER).
    If there is any other characteristic which is used for identifying the Employees that have resigned, (say for Eg. Employee Status could be 0 for resigned employee, a hypothetical case), select the char. for Employee status with the value '0' and include it in both the selections / RKFs and you will get the desired results.
    Pl remember, if you select a period variable with a range (i.e. from and to values within the same variable)  , then you will get only one column for 'Amount' and the value in this column will be for value for the period.
    If you want Amount for From and To values to appear in two different columns , the do not select variable with a 'range'. Instead select two variables with single value , one each from From and To.  (However, I am not sure if you requirement wants From and To in two different columns, although, you are saying so !!!). If you select two variable (say for eg. ZPERIOD1 and ZPERIOD2 then in your selections you will not use 0I_FPER instead the new variables).
    Hope you find the answer useful.

  • How to set the table input in Query template?

    Hi all.
    I need to call a Bapi_objcl_change, with import parameter and a table as an input. I have done this, in BLS. I have set the table input in the
    form of xml. In BLS, I get the output(the value gets change in SAP R3, what i have given in BLS).  But if i set the same xml structure  in
    query template, I didn't get the output. Table input parameter does not take that xml source.  How to set the table input in Query template?
    can anyone help me?
    Regards,
    Hemalatha

    Hema,
    You probably need to XML encode the data so that it will pass properly and then xmldecode() it to set the BAPI input value.

  • Can a single quote be used at the beginning of a query string parameter

    Hi all,
    I am a relative newbie and have a newbie question.
    Can a single quote be used at the beginning of a query string parameter passed to a jsp page? Are there any inherant problems with this? Is there a comprehensive list of characters that must be escaped in a query string parameter?
    Example: http://mysite.com/myjsp.jsp?param1='nghdh
    Thanks

    You'll have to escape most non-letter characters before you can pass them as a URL. I don't know if it's necessary for a single quote, but better safe than sorry.
    Either use java.net.URLEncoder(...) or use javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse.encodeURL(String). I wouldn't recommend using unescaped characters in your URLs, that might cause pretty funny behavior that's sometimes hard to trace back. Don't worry about decoding it, your JSP/Servlet container will do it when you call javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest.getParameter(String).

  • How to pass a value from the report to a form ( BIT OF URGENT ).

    Hi,
    I had created a "Form on a Table with Report" on the report I had remove the edit link and set one of the column feilds that functionality. Now I want to know how to pass that value that is clicked ( having hyper link ) on to the form where it runs a SQL query and then displays the reuslts on the form.
    Illustrating with an example.
    I am having these following columns on the report ( these are the results for the join statement )
    JOBNUM JOBNAME DEPTNUMBER SAL EMPNO LNAME FNAME
    In the above JOBNUM is having Hyper link as I removed the edit image.
    Now this is area I am having problem. When the user clicked on the JOBNUM then on form it should display 20 other columns( pulled from 5 other tables ) which are related to that particualr JOBNUM.
    Anybody give me a solution in which area I have to include my SQL statement and how to pass that selected value to that SQL statement.
    Cheers,
    Krishna

    Hi Ron,
    I am doing exaclty what you have suggested me but no luck. I started changing the DEMO_CUSTOMERS application to my requirements.The report is working fine and on the report I have created a page attribute to the Hyper linked column and linked that to the page 2 and assign that attribute with #JOBNUM#.
    I am able to pass that value on to form when I click on the JOBNUM. But the problem is I am not able to pass that value into the SQL query so that my query pulls 20+ columns on to the Form ( which is second page ).
    Small clarification... On the form region it is said FORM NAME and type is HTML is that is the way the APEX was designed or does it need to say region type as FORM.
    Thanks for your help in advance.
    Cheers,
    Krishna.
