Passing URL to user variable

Hi there,
I am currently doing a SCORM package which has to be multi language.
The URL running the SCORM package defines www.myurl.com/?lang=EN or ?lang=DE.
Now I need the language value from the URl to jump inside captivate to the correct slides.
I would do this using conditional actions.
But to do so a user variable needs to be set with the language value from the URl.
Does anyone know about an existing widget or any other way to fulfill this task.
Widget has to be AS3 with Flash 9.
(Flash 10 is not supported by the customer).

Moodle is multi-lingual. There are hundreds of thousands of Moodle sites out there in all corners of the world. How do they normally handle this multi-lingual course issue? Do they use Groups, or Roles? I think there MUST be an easier way to accomplish your goal than going down the route that you have chosen.
What you're doing is going to force you to use increasing levels of complexity, with more and more Advanced Actions, Variables, Widgets, or whatever. It's going to become a nightmare to maintain all of that. Plus it will become an increasingly unworkable solution as soon as you get asked to add more languages. You have double the download filesize now, what happens if you add a couple more languages one day?
Can the users not simply select their site language preference in Moodle and use that in some way to filter the courses they have access to? I would recommend you ask a Moodle developer about this as an option before investing too much time in your current solution.
If it turns out Moodle customisation is impossible, then by all means try the Advanced Actions route. But my gut feeling is that you're going to regret this one day.

What you have mentioned is for BSP Pages... for web reports .. add the following to the URL..
&CMD=PROCESS_VARIABLES&SUBCMD=VAR_SUBMIT&VAR_NAME_1=<Your Variable Name>&VAR_VALUE_EXT_1=<Value of the variable>
This is for a normal variable - it is slightly different for hierarchy variables...

Value of user variable passed in sender/receiver queries

Hello experts,
I have to BEx queries, one sender and one receiver, I linked them in RSBBS
The problem is that I have InfoObject 0FISCPER as a user variable in the sender query and I fill it with for example "avril 2010" but in the receiver query 0FISCPER is also a user variable but it always receive "#" as value, other values are passed without problems

Try making the User input variable a Mandatory one and then Check ,it shud work.

How to pass the USER variable to RPD in 11g?

I am trying to figure out how to pass the USER variable to the RPD in 11g.
In 10g, I had define an intializtion block to store the USER variable and pass it to a statement that has to be executed before the query is executed.
We use the Oracle VPD technology that allows to restrict data access. This is the statement that has to be executed before a query can run.
select vpd_adwh.setclnvpdcontext_fnc('VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.cuser)', UPPER(:USER))) from dual
That is the 10g version and it works fine.
In 11g, I tried to use
select vpd_adwh.setclnvpdcontext_fnc('VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.cuser)', UPPER('VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER)')) from dual
but this is not working.
Any help?

Passing URL Variables, Can "Or" statement applies?

in my php data, i have 2 catagorical data
cat1
cat2
most of the time, since most items have single catagory, i
can just pass 1 url variables, for ex: ?cat1=5
but on rare occasions, some of my items will have 2
attributes, making it necessary to filter not only cat1=5, but
maybe cat2=5 as well.
the way you do "and" statement is just with ampersand sign
&, but how would you do "or" statement?
(or am i totally misinterpretting the way that URL variables
work? i also thought that the filtering process might occur at the
webpage, and the & statement merely passes 2 or more variables,
while the webpage decide what to do with them. am i correct in this
statement instead?)

It's the script inside the web page that decides what to do
with the
variables.

Thanks for your reply. However my problem is still not resolved.
I have created a Omniportlet with lists the staff details. When I click on the staff link I am passing to parameters as follows

on the receving page I have a omni portlet which must receive these 2 parameters and pass it on to the query and filter the results.
On the received page I have created 2 page parameters (Param1 and Param2)
I have assigned these 2 paramaters to the portlet paramers through page parameters' section
on the omni portlet in the query I have created 2 bind variables (p1, p2) and the default value of the bind variable is set using ##Param1## and ##Param2## so the received values from page is passed to to bind variable and hence to the query.
However the omni portlet is not received the parameters and I can not figure out whats wrong?
Is there any problem with my URL (guide says I should use relative URL)

Can you submit a User Variable instead of the Captivate Quiz Score variable to an LMS?

I am attempting to create two quizzes in a course that has branching. I know that Captivate only allows for one quiz if you are using Question type slides, but I am using a simulation to check the knowledge of a process. I want to report one of the simulation completions depending on which branch the user goes to (different branches for different products). How or is it even possible to submit user variables in place of the Captivate Quiz Score variable, the time in the course variable, and the Pass or Fail status to an LMS?

Sadly, I am using Captivate 5.5. I was thinking it should be possible to use Javascript to be able to take a specific variable and submit it to the LMS in place of Captivate's Quiz variables. I just don't know Javascript well enough to know how to do that.

Dynamic URL Configuration using variable range - WAD

I am trying to configure a URL dynamically using variable range values. There are two variables which I pass to the URL, Sales Document Number and Posting Date. Sales Document Number has a single value and Posting Date is a range variable. The single value for sales document is passed to the URL but the date range is not passed and hence the web template gets the blank value for the date and shows the variable screen as this is mandatory. (It may very well have all the Debit, Credit
for all the Accid where as the user wants only for

And also as Ranjit pointed out, If you have only
accid, sum(debit), sum(credit) in View, wheres this
enddate ??Of course, column entdate (or enddate?) must be included in view...

Trouble Passing URL Parameters between Applications

I am having trouble Passing URL Parameters between Applications for BW queries as data sources. I know I am getting the data from the sending application correctly, because I an printing to the screen using a Text Component.

So, I would expect it is my receiving code, but I am not sure.

Forms_DDL is a one-way street: You can only pass DDL commands TO the database; you cannot get data back using Forms_DDL.
Exec_SQL is the Forms package that enables dynamic sql within a form. But to retrieve data, you have to make a Exec_SQL call for every column in every row. So it is not a good thing to use, either.
The ref cursor method should work. You could also retrieve the data into a record group using populate_group_with_query -- it also enables dynamic data retrieval.
But if you already know you have three distinct tables and you know their names, I would keep it simple and just write three sql select statements.

I am using Oracle 10g Application Server & Oracle 10g Forms & Report services. But I have to pass all the parameters thru a query String. So the problem is all the endusers can view the Database details by taking the properties.
#) I want to set the Database Logon information some where in any confiruration file and this should read when calling forms. so that i can avoid passing of Database user informations. Is there any way to configure like this?
#) Multiple applications are running on Oracle AS and each applications are using defferent schema. How can I set the different User Informations in the configuration file.
I want to completely avoid passing of Oracle user informations thru http.

As I said, you can edit formsweb.cfg and a user parameter section. For example, lets take yur sample url:
add this section to formsweb.cfg:

userid=lakmal/mabil@ewis
form=change.fmx
note:
it is better to make the edit at EM console itself.
Then when you will run the form use this url:
http://dunhinda.com/forms90/f90servlet?config=change
The url has been shortened and your username and password is hidden.
and if your user would run diffeent forms, you can drop the form=change.fmx and speficify form name in the url like
section in formsweb.cfg
[lakmal]
userid=lakmal/mabil@ewis
then the url will now be:
http://dunhinda.com/forms90/f90servlet?config=change&form=formname.fmx

User Variable in Business Rule or Global Variable

I wanted to call the User Variable value of Planning application under the Globel Variable of Default Value. Example I have created one Globel variable under the Default value the user varible value need to pickup so any thought how I can do this.
I know in the Form if you use &UsrVar this will show the user variable value in the Data form but it is not showing the User Variable value in global variable or inside the Business rule.It is giving an error message there is no substitution variable has been defined. Please explain.

Hi,
User variables are meant to be used in web forms and web forms only. You can certainly pass their values to business rules when you used them in POV or page section of the form during save. All you need to do is to create another business rule (local or global) variable in business rule on the corresponding dimension and use it in your business rule. If you enable running the business rule on save and using the form values for variables options in form properties, business rules would replace the values of business rule variables with the values that are set in user variables.

For ex, this query is used to obtain the forecast details based on month and i need to obatain the month value from the sub query where the user need to select the forecast date as one of the parameter

The query i have tried and is working with Analyser is :

In Query Generator when i try the same query,the Itemcode and Month need to be entered as variable, Iam able to take the item.Even the variable window shows me the Forecast date but the query throws an error 8180.
Any help will be appreciated.

Inserting user variables into MYSQL database using servlet

I have a servlet that recieves user entered parameters from an html form and inserts them into a user table in MYSQL, or at least is supposed to. I can get it to update the table with specific values but not with the user variables. I know the single quote marks are for inserting specific values but without them it doesn't properly work.
The parameters are parsed correctly into the variables, so I just can't figure out how to ge tthe variables into the database. Any help would be wonderful

I also realise that this is a more MYSQL titled problem, but those forums look rubbish <_<

Investigate PreparedStatement.
Currently you're trying to insert a value "Ufirst_name" instead of the value of the variable called Ufirst_name.
It's possible to do this (you could do something like this: "... '" + UfirstName + "' ...") but DEFINITELLY NOT RECOMMENDED. Instead use a prepared statement.
