Passing Values to a BW Template through Java - Dynpage
Hello All!
-I have one Java-Dynpage Application. I have created an
Iview from that PAR file.
-This Dynpage accepts some input from user(say his employee number) and displays some data from SQL server.
-Now I want that when the user enters the input and clicks submit button, these values should be passed to a BW template to execute the BW report based on this input.
-In other words, i want to display another Iview which will display a BW report based on the values passed from my Dynpage.
<b>Is it possible to pass the values to a BW template from java?</b>
If yes, how do i do it?
Any suggestions are welcome....
You can have two Iviews:
1.Your existing Java Iview
2. Standard BW Report as an Iview.
when submit button is hit on Iview1. Use EPCF to pass values to Iview2.Then build your new bw url based on the values you get from iview1 thru EPCF.
Search for EPCF on sdn.
So , yes it is possible to pass values to a BW template from Dynpage or JSP using EPCF.

Ritesh MehtaThe only way to receive something from clients page is to submit it somehow: through a form or link, but the info has to make it back to the server obviously. I dont know how your app works, but you can use the the javascript -location.href- function(i think) to submit the var to the server and process it there.

Set filter value for a web template with java
hi experts,
i need to set a variable dynamicaly depending on the Logon Name. Ok first step i did, i made a small script for the Username:

ok if the username i.e B200221 my variable LIFNR gets a valid value in this case 0000200221. but how can i use this variable in the bi commands ?

Passing values to a select option through submit
hi all,
i am using the following code to submit report.
SUBMIT :rko7co88 USING SELECTION-SET 'ZTEST_PS'
WITH SELECTION-TABLE seltab
WITH perio = v_month
WITH gjahr = v_year
WITH vaart = c_1.
the table seltab is being populated as shown below.
LOOP AT i_aufnr INTO i_aufnr_wa.
seltab_wa-selname = 'AUFNR'.
seltab_wa-sign = 'I'.
seltab_wa-kind = 'S'.
seltab_wa-option = 'EQ'.
seltab_wa-low = i_aufnr_wa-aufnr.
APPEND seltab_wa TO seltab.
CLEAR seltab_wa.
ENDLOOP.
but when i run this program it gives a short dump saying program has excceded the maximum time permited.
the problem seems to be with passing table seltab to select option, because when i run the program witout that statemant "WITH SELECTION-TABLE seltab" . it works fine.
in seltab i have selected only open orders which r confirmed, when i run the program without passing seltab it takes all the orders and works fine but according to my requirement i have to run the program for only open orders.
pls suggest the way out.

what u can pass to a function module is the parameter which are in import and tables of RFC .so u have to declare a variable as a type of your internal table which may be type of structure or table. then in your RFC u have to copy that into a variable of function module and go for ur logic ... -

BEx WAD - How to pass filter values to another Web template
Hi,
I have a scenario here...
Web Template 1:
- Filter options, Filter on Characteristics
- Button, this button calls Template 2 sending the parameters selected vía URL to filter the report.
Web Template 2:
- Tables and graphs
Values selected in the Filter of Template 1 and using javascript it should generates a URL, which filters the second template i.e. Web Template 2.
Can anyone please share javascript to achieve this...

I tried this and could not get it to work. so if you find away through Java script then I would be very interested.
There is an option called TRANSFER_STATE which supposedly lets you pass variable names in this scenario but I could not get it to work.
In the end I created one template with all graphs etc. When you click the button to show the other template all tables and graphs in template 2 are shown and everything from web template 1 is hidden. This worked fine.

It is not operation binding problem. while invoking the operation binding you are calling some db function from there you caught.

Issue with passing parameters through Java-JSP in a report with cross tab
Can anyone tell me, if there's a bug in Java SDK in passing the parameters to a report (rpt file) that has a cross tab in it ?
I hava report that works perfectly fine
with ODBC through IDE and also through browser (JSP page)
(ii) with JDBC in CR 2011 IDE
the rpt file has a cross tab and accpts two parameters.
When I run the JDBC report through JSP the parameters are never considered. The same report works fine when I remove the cross tab and make it a simple report.
I have posted this to CR SDK forum and have not received any reply. This have become a blocker and because of this our delivery has been postponed. We are left with two choices,
Re-Write the rpt files not to have cross-tabs - This would take significant effort
OR
(ii) Abandon the crystal solution and try out any other java based solutions available.

As I stated earlier, we have been using the latest service pack (12) when I generated the log file that is uploaded earlier.
To confirm this further, I downloaded the complete eclipse bundle from sdn site and reran the rpt files. No change in the behaviour and the bug is reproducible.
You are right about the parameters, we are using {?@Direction} is: n(1.0)
{?@BDate} is: dt(d(1973-01-01),t(00:00:00.453000000)) as parameters in JSP and we get 146 records when we directly execute the stored procedure. The date and the direction parameter values stored in design time are different. '1965-01-01' and Direction 1.
When we run the JSP page, The parameter that is passed through the JSP page, is displayed correctly on the right top of the report view. But the data that is displayed in cross tab is not corresponding to the date and direction parameter. It corresponds to 1965-01-01 and direction 1 which are saved at design time.
You can test this by modifying the parameter values in the JSP page that I sent earlier. You will see the displayed data will remain same irrespective of the parameter.
Further to note, Before each trial run, I modify the parameters in JSP page, build them and redeploy so that caching does not affect the end result.
This behaviour, we observe on all the reports that have cross-tabs. These reports work perfectly fine when rendered through ODBC-ActiveX viewer and the bug is observable only when ran through Java runtime library. We get this bug on view, export and print functionalities as well.

Eg, if we consider yahoo weather widget, then i have to pass the parameters country through java code. i also have to read the output given by widget through java code (which in this case is the weather for all the days for the current week).

Pass variable value to different Web Templates??
Hi BI gurus,
The scenario is: we have 2 web templates, and at the top of template A, there is Menu Item for the users to switch to template B. Time Variable: Fiscal_Qtr (a custom exit variable which by default set the value as Current Quarter) is being used in both templates. And, there is drop down box of Fiscal_Qtr in the layouts for the users to change when they do the planning.
The requirement is to keep the last value of the Fiscal Quarter when the users switch to different templates.
The difficulty is how to read the fiscal quarter from the buffer and pass the value when launch another template, because it is a totally new session. The new session always set to the default value.
Please share your thoughts if you have any experience about similar case.

EuniceI dont think you an read from the buffer when you use javascript. The value is shown as request_1 in the url or something like that. This is with reference to WAD 3.x... you could customize the context menu and see if you can do an RRI instead...

Did you write the perl program? Can you change it? Or are you trying to interface to something that already exists? This will limit your options, of course.
Anyway the first option is simple. The java program does this:

I am in OBIEE 11g v6.
Let's say, I have two dashbaord pages P1 and P2.
P1 page contains
1. Prompt PR1 - containing a single column EmpName
2. Report R1
P2 page contains
1. Prompt PR2 - containing a single column EmpName (same column as in PR1)
2. Report R2
Requirement :
Let's say a user select a value = David from the EmpName column in prompt PR1. In the Report R1, on one the measure columns 'Sales', I am using an action link - Navigate to URL ( I can't use Navigate to BI Content for some reasons). In the URL, I am giving the URL to page P2. Can I pass the selected value (which is David) to the EmpName column of the Prompt PR2 of Page P2 so that Report R2 is automatically limited by David when I land on that page through the URL?
Few things to consider are, I can't use EmpName column in my report R1 on page P1, I just want to pass the value of a common column from one prompt on Page1 to another prompt on Page2. Is that possible. Can anybody please help?

Add EmpName name and hide it on report R1 on page P1
and set EmpName as Is Prompted on report R2 on page P2 and with my earlier steps should work.

Passing multi value parameter to the Drill through report

I have two reports say Report A and Report B.
Both reports using same parameters.
I am Navigating from Report A to Report B using Jump to Report option.
Now when I pass multiple parameter to the Report B it only displays first parameter results.
In report B I have parameter multi value select to true.
I would like to know if its possible or not to pass multi value parameter in drill through report?
I would appreciate if someone can help me here.
