Password e-mail when not requested

I just received the password e-mail without having requested it. Probably just someone trying to get their own and putting in the wrong userid.
I can easily see some infrequent user saying "did I sign up as jhudson, jhudson1, joehudson, or what? I'll put them all in and see which one works".
But since it could possibly be a security breach, with someone trying sql injection to get passwords and ids e-mailed to themselves, etc., I wanted to report it.
No reply required. Just wanted to let you know.

But you typically need an authenticated server to send when you are not connected to that particular network.
It is already setup in the phone (presumably during activation). It can be turned on or off, but the settings can't be changed.
Host Name: gprs.fido.ca
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 25
So if Rogers tech support didn't know this, its probably because they don't support it.
It is not unusual for them to not know the details of a particular phone.
I note some Rogers locations just use yahoo for mail. I think Yahoo does support authenticated SMTP.
Rogers uses Yahoo to handle their mail. They do use password authentication.

  • Mail and notes request an icloud email address

Although I have set up an iCloud account a while ago I have yet not been using it.
After installing OS X 10.8.2 and IOS 6 on my MBA and iDevices I decided to have a look at iCloud.
I logged on iCloud .com and accessed to the main window. All but Mail and Notes were working.
Those two are asking me to provide an iCloud.com valid email address.
I do have a "me.com" email account, but it does not take it as it forces an icloud.com extension.
If I try to create an icloud address it refuses it as it says it's already being used.
I really do not understand the problem I am facing.
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong, and help me have iCloud up and running.
    Thanks In advance

    Thank you for your help.
I start to understand the issue. My iCloud account is [email protected]
I did what you suggested and logged into iCloud with my "me.com" email adress. And Mail and Notes did launch. The issue is that I do not use this account in my everyday work.
Does that mean that iCloud Mail and Notes request an 'me.com' address to work. That seemms strange and confusing since the other services do accept the 'orange.fr' address.
Is there a workaround? I should not be the only one using iCloud with my Internet provider address.
Looking forward to reading your suggestions.
    Thanks

  • Manual request for email still gets email when not requesting sync

I have an iPhone 4s with a mail for exchange account set up on it.  My settings are set for manual so I don't get email pushed to me all the time.  I am using iOS6 at the moment.  Whenever I turn on the phone, it checks and updates my inbox. Even when on 5.1.1, it checked now and then without me asking to sync but now on OS6, it has happened everytime I boot up alongside the occasional not requested sync.  Anyone else have this issue?  Is there a fix?

How will that fix the problem?  I have been using the refresh and load more messages options on the email accounts.  There are extended periods throughout the day that email will not be received.  Samsung did not have a solution and neither did Verizon technical support.  There are several others with the same issues.  We should not have to do manual syncs and it is a sporadic problem.

  • Why can't I send e mails when not on wifi at home?

My phone contract is with Orange and my internet provider is Eclipse. I have spend hours on the phone to both Orange and Eclipse to no avail.  It is causing me huge problems as I rely on my phone for my business to e mail etc.  I have changed from a Blackberry to this I Phone 5 and it is driving me made.  Should I ditch it and go back to Blackberry?

Probably because your smtp setting is configured for your regular isp and they likely, as do many, do not allow sending email using their smtp server when you are not connected to their network. Contact your isp and ask them, or look at their site for the smtp settings for using their smtp server when not on their network. This is a spam prevention measure employed by most ISPs.

  • I have received various emails with a link to reset my password but I have not requested this

I have received emails with link to change password but have not requested to change password
Is this a security issue on my account

This has happened to me twice - I got an email on the 12th June and about 6 hours ago. More than anything it's annoying, and rather than believing the innocent explanation in the email:
Most likely, someone just mistyped their email address while trying to reset their own password.
I believe that someone is trying to hack my account - I mean, two separate people, mistyping their email address which is like mine, on different occasions, a few weeks apart? Something which has never happened since I got my apple ID a few years ago?  Yeah, right. It's not exactly phishing, as these are legitimate Apple emails, just someone trying his/her luck, I guess. It's more annoying to me, and I don't see a reason for changing my password, which would be a kind of knee-jerk response.

  • I am receiving emails from apple to reset my password that I have not requested

Hi wondering if anyone could help. About 3 weeks ago I received an email from apple that my apple ID was used to download an app that was not from the device which is normally used. This was initiated from the United States, I am in n.ireland. As this was not me I followed the instructions & changed my password. However the past 2 days I have received 7 emails from apple on how to reset my apple ID that I did not initiate & am concerned that someone is trying to get access to my apple account. Has this ever happened anyone else? If so how did you deal with the problem as I can't seem to get through to apple to discus the matter. Thanks

That's very scary. They might do it, but I personally have never had Apple contact me re id's except on their site when signing in. I suggest you DO NOT respond until you have a phone conversation with Apple security. They can verify if they sent you the e-mail and why.
While it's very possible it's true, again, I suggest you not respond until you speak to someone at Apple. I've often read here that when people sign in they are not allowed to because "someone else has used the id" type of statement.
Also, you should be able to go to the app store and see what apps you have downloaded.
Though it could have been a free app, have you checked to see if any were bought with your id account?
I've gotten these types of e-mails from places like USPS and FedEx which look amazingly authentic and were from their website. I also received an odd e-mail from my cousin in Ireland last year that clearly was not from him. It was also sent to others in his family in Ireland. I e-mailed him that I only opened it because it had a .ie, but suggested he change... Days later I received mail from 'him' - same name, but at yahoo.com.
Again, I would call Apple. You can also report it at [email protected], but I would not settle for that given your situation. If nothing else, call Apple sales (sales depts. anywhere answer fast) and ask them to transfer you to security. Apple will not want anybody accessing their name, and while it's unlikely, it's not impossible that it is someone phishing.
Hope this helps and can you let the support community know your results by posting on this thread when you're done? Thank you.
    Hope this helps.

  • Outgoing mail when not at home

I am new to smart phones. I set up my email account with the proper incoming & outgoing settings and turned on wi-Fi. The phone is connected to my network at home via the wi-fi and I have sent and received mail at home. When I went out yesterday, I noticed I could receive email but was not able to send it. I must have missed something in the settings and cannot find the info I need in "email set-up". Any help would certainly be appreciated.

Hello lenna! What I recommend for you to do is make sure that WiFi was disabled when you left the vicinity of your home wireless router and reset your device to CDMA. If you've done that but are still not able to get email, please let me know. Thanks!

  • Client option resetting when not requested

This may be a library question, but may be a general client options issue,
    so I
am posting here, GW 8.0.2 with hot patches on Win7 Pro 64 bit--I have one
user for whom one particular integration setting on the document integration
tab (Tools/Options/documents) keeps reverting. The Word and Excel settings
are fine and do not change. But in that list is also "Library folder", not
even sure what that is or does. The integration for Library folder keeps
enabling for him. He turns it off and within a day or two, it is back on.
The result when enabled is that Adobe Reader gives him a warning every time
    he uses it,
and since we are a law firm, that is quite a lot. This does not happen to
any other users. So far, I reset the client options with GWCheck for this
user and uninstalled and re-installed the client on his Win7 machine, but it
    is
still happening. I am obviously missing whatever it is that makes him
    unique. TIA.

  • Why are ical appointments repeated monthly when not requested?

The iCal application on one of my machines has begun posting appointments to the months prior to and following the date for which the appointment has been entered. In addition, if I tab backward from April nothing happens. Tabbing backward again takes me to February, from which I can tab forward to March.

Hi, not sure, but it sounds like maybe one of these files is dinged...
    /Users/YourUserMame/Library/Calendars/[BigLongNumber].calendar/Info.plist
Then again with the tabbing thing, there may be deeper problems.
Have you tried deleting that entry & making a new one?

  • Outbound E-Mail when creating a Service Request

    Hi.
I am trying to set up a scenario where an outbound notification email is sent out when a Service Request is created. I have created the email FORM in WEB UI but was wondering how to trigger the email sending process (I am looking for the best practice).
A possible option could be to create an action that is triggered when the Service Request is saved but does the standard action work with a "email form" created from WEB UI (as far as I know it works with SMARTFORM) or do i have to code the whole logic myself:
    -Get the template.
    -Convert it to html.
    -Populate data.
-Build email body and so on and finally send email and attach it to the Service Request.
I wonder if there is standard functionality for this.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Best regards.

    Hi,
If you are on CRM 7.0 sending e-mail when service request is saved is a standard functionality. Use Rule policy with Intent Driven Interaction context.
    1.  Create New policy and add your Business Role at the header.
    2. Add IC Events 'OrderSaved' at the header.
    3. Create Rule as follows:
Condition  -    If Current Event Equals Order was saved
Action      -    Send Out-Going E-Mail Using Mail Form
                                                         E-Mail Subject 'xxxxx'
                                                         Sender's E-Mail Adress 'email id'
                                                         Mail Form 'ZMailform'
Note:1. Make sure that your mail form has the attribute service request tracking text is inserted. You can see the service request tracking text attribute when you create the mail form in the Attribute Context 'ERMS
            2. Make sure that your service manager profile has the your IDI policy assigned.
            3. Your CRM 7.0 is on SP04 or above.

  • Anyway to password protect Mail?

I would like to Mail to ask me for a password before opening....that way other users of my system won't be able to read my email....is this possible?

You just may have to log into and out of your computer each time you use Mail, if you are not on a network. But the newer Macs have the capapability of being able to have several users that log into and out of their own Desktops.
Although, this may help from Mail Help:
    "About Keychain passwords in Mail
When you set up a user account in Mac OS X using the Accounts preferences pane, a keychain is automatically created with the same password. Your keychain can store all the passwords you use to access different resources, including your passwords for the Mail application and for each email account. When you connect to a network server, open an email account, or access any password-protected item that is keychain-aware, your keychain provides the password so you don't have to type it.
Your keychain is unlocked automatically when you log in to Mac OS X. Use the application Keychain Access to manage keychain passwords.

  • RIM sent my 9000 password to me without me requesting it

    Hi
I am a new member of the forums, so pardon me for any inadvertent faux pas..
I just received an email from [email protected] with my device password. I had not requested this to be sent. It was sent to 2566EA3F <Invalid Address> with a copy to my 9000 Bold.
I am concerned as I did not generate this request, and I do not know who 2566EA3F <Invalid Address> is.
I have changed the password, but do not know what to do next.

your email password is with your ISP so they can help. but if it is saved in the email app you can just change the ports in the preferneces without a password.
