Password reset every 30 days (APEX authentication scheme)

Hello,
one of my application uses APEX authentication scheme. I would like to force end users to change their passwords every 30 days.
Account Expiration and Locking is enabled. Is it enough to set "30 days" in End User Account Lifetime (days) option that I've found in Home>Administration>Manage Services>Set Workspace Preferences, or should I do something else?

for developers who login into workspace - yes, it opens 'change password' page
for end users - who knows?

Device security password reset every 5-6 days -- how to change this?

I have a new 8330 Curve set up on Sprint, which I just received last week. I set it up with password enabled in the Security Options on the device, so that it would lock after 20 minutes of inactivity and require a password to unlock it.
After only about 5 or 6 days, when I went to unlock it the device gave me a message that my password had expired and forced me to change it. There is no option in the Security Options on the device to adjust the password timeout period.
I've searched the forums here, and have seen reference to this possibly happening as a result of an IT policy for units that are set up on an enterprise server. My device is not set up on an enterprise server through an employer, however; it is a personal device. (For what it's worth, my old Blackberry that I had from my previous job was set up on an enterprise server, and never once made me change the device password. However, my other previous Blackberry, set up as a personal device through AT&T and not on an enterprise server, did require a password change every 5 days and I never got around to seriously trying to fix it.)
I was on the phone with Sprint tech support last night for half an hour before the last person they transferred me to said he had to call RIM for more information. He never called me back as he said he would, however. Forumites, can anybody offer me a clue as to what needs to be done to fix this issue? It's quite annoying having to change a password every five days, and so far the only solution seems to be to disable password protection, which I don't want to do either.

On your device, look at Options > Security > General Settings.
Scroll toward the bottom of that screen, under or just above **services** do you see any "policy name" or the such?

Authorization Scheme using the APEX Authentication Scheme

How would you build an authentication scheme that is using the APEX Authorization scheme. All users are belonging to a group which could be Oracle, External or Developer and I'd like to hide certain pages from the External users.
I am not sure if I can grab the group name from some V('..') function and make something work?

I'll give it a try again, sorry for not being able to describe the problem better!
I am using the APEX built in authorization and authentication to make my life simple with regards to user mgmt. So all the users are managed using the Home>Administration>Manage Application Express Users. Every user belongs to an APEX group (Home>Administration>Manage Application Express Users>User Groups). For example:
User A belongs to Group External
User B belongs to Group Oracle
User C belongs to Group Admin
Now, there are certaing pages in my application that I want to restrict from the Group External (but the Group Admin and Group Oracle can see them).
So my question is really how would I build such an Authorization Scheme to accomplish this? Not suer about which APEX API functions I should use to get this data and how to build the function.
I hope this makes more sense?

WRT350N - I have to reset every day

Guys, first of all I´m far from an expert on this...
so let me tell you my problem.. probably will be a pretty simple one for you. I have at home a WRT350N, witch I´m used with my desktop computer using a utp cable and a regular wifi N with my notebook.
The issue is this, every day I go to work, left my desktop computer online using utorrent, and when I come back from the office I see that the utorrent is still downloading.. but if I want to use explorer or firefox I can´t... so, I have to reset the router, wait a minute to get connected again (I have a adsl connection with a modem) and then I can surf on the web.
I think this is strange, since I don´t loose the complete connection but only the webtraffic...
do you have any idea what could be happening? thanks in advance !!!!

You can try to Upgrade the Firmware on the Router and reset and re-configure it...
Download the Firmware from here , after downloading the firmwar follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device: -
Launch a web browser on your computer, and enter the Router’s default IP address, 192.168.1.1, in the Address field. Then, press Enter Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...To upgrade the firmware, click on the Administration tab and then click the Upgrade Firmware sub-tab. Click the Browse button and select the .bin firmware file. Finally, click the Upgrade button and follow the on-screen instructions.Once done reset and re-configure the router.Check if this helps...

Apple ID password failing every day

This is getting very frustrating, but the password on my Apple ID is failing every day, sometimes more than once a day. I reset it on every device, and it works for a couple hours, then I have to reset it. Not difficult, but it is a pain. This has been going on for months. Any suggestions?

Different behavior of Apex (authentication schema) in 64 bits instance

First time poster after reading many, and not sure if this is Apex related or that I should create a SR on metalink on monday
We have Apex 3.0 installed in a development 10.2.0.1 instance on Win2003 Server (32 bits), the application uses an authentication schema which queries our ldap server (MS Active directory), which works fine.
Our production environment is Apex 3.0 in 10.2.0.1 (x64) on Win2003 (64 bits) 4GB of memory. The authentication (same as in development) takes a very long time (minutes). On the server we see (task manager) a huge increase of vm size usage when we press the login button. When idle it uses around 900MB of vm size, and increases with 5GB. This results in a non responsive db server for minutes. After authentication is done, vm size decreases to normal size.
In the enterprise manager (Active sessions waiting: Other) we see DBMS_LDAP: LDAP operation in the graph
steps taken
- Installed a fresh 10.2.0.1 instance (x64) on a Win2003 x64 vmware
- Installed the PL/SQL Web Toolkit 10.1.2.0.6
- Installed Apex 3.0
- Created authentication schema in the sample application based on ldap (tried DOMAIN_NAME\%LDAP_USER% and cn=%LDAP_USER%,ou=Users,dc=domain,dc=nl notation for the dn entry)
- log on to application authentication is slow, (ldap test tool shows same behavior)
- tried different domain controllers
- upgrade instance to 10.2.0.3
After the upgrade the behavior is as described above (slow, huge increase vm size, non responsive system).
Any help or ideas on this on.

Exchange password failing every day

every day i get an error message that my exchange email password is incorrect. sometimes a window will come up requesting i input the new one, but when i enter there it doesn't work. i have to go into settings and reenter. is anyone else having this issue?

one of the key figure has type INT4. the figure to be uploaded into this key figure is bigger than the upper limit of the INT4 defenition. hence the overflow error

Mail password required every day or two.

Didn't do this until recently. OS x 10.7.3 Lion.

It may not be a problem on your computer. Sometimes this happens when your ISP's mail server is flaky or offline. Mail can't connect, so it asks you to input your password again.
Mail > Window > Connection Doctor ...
... can help you find out if this is the case

WRT54GS:Needs Resetting every day to work

There is no Version on the unit but when using the browser it says: V.4.70.6 (5/26/2005). It looks like there is another version 4.20.7 with a later date but I cant find it? Does anyone have suggestions on what I should do???? Thanks so much... Skip

Well i wont suggest you to follow it blindly. Just try locating hardware version number one more time carefully.
When you go to www.linksys.com/download and type model number of router. And go to the downloads for your router.
It will show you how to locate version number of your router.
Once you get it, then you can check the latest firmware and update it.

M. Mahfoud EL HOUDAIGUI is right. Sa should be disabled for the servers that work with web application as it exposure over an internet. There is no such document that
states we need to disable that login but if you worked with web application you probably know that hackers try to capture the SA password first.....

I need to reset my time capsule/airport every day - time capsule has green light but I don't see any wifi signal on my mac and other computers.

as many of you do, I use time capsule as airport, too...
It worked fine for 6 months or so after I bought the new time capsule. (I bought it in September 2012.)
Since the beginning of this year, I had to reset, and power off and plug it in almost every week, then now I need to reset and power off and back on again every day...
When I first set up the time capsule, I followed the instruction with the manual.
But, now I am so lost and don't want to reset every day for wifi connection.
Anyone has problem like me or knows how to solve this issue?

I have MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.4 & my roommates have PCs. (just in case if it helps...)

For PC it is important the wireless has names that are compatible.. short.. like 10 characters.. but 2-20 is fine. no spaces.. and pure alphanumeric.
Use WPA2 personal only.. with pure alphanumeric password .. again 10-20 characters should be fine.
The latest firmware is a dud. Go back to 7.6.1
Open the airport utility.. click on the TC and holding the option key click the actual version number..
Go back to 7.6.1 is simple.. just select it and away it will go.. ignore future requests for upgrade.. you can also tell the utility not to check weekly for updates. You will need 5.6 utility for this I think..
So do the firmware downgrade.
Then do a factory reset and follow the name information above.. for TC name as well btw.. wireless name/s and disk share name.. which by default is data and that is fine.
So some instructions in...
The Factory Reset.
Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
1. Download 5.6 for Lion.

Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
Leave the package open on the desktop so you can see the file. AirportUtility56.pkg
2. Download and install unpkg.

Run unpkg on the desktop.. If your Mac refuses to run the software, because it wasn’t downloaded from the Apple store, go to security in preferences and allow other software to work.. this is limitation of trade methinks. You can set back later if you like.
Now drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. in finder, open the new directory, drill down.. applications, utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall version 6 (now 6.3 if you updated) so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. although I have had no problems when doing so.
You can also load airport utility into a pc and get access to all the settings. Untick the box for firmware updates.. it will still bug you occasionally.. regardless of the setting.. just ignore it..
You might still need to do the occasional reboot of the TC as well.

How can i change email address for security questions and password resets

I've noticed that my password reset requests are going to an old email acount. In fact, i am not sure where they are going.
the real issue is that i don't see a way to change it when i am logged in (it took me many tries to actually log back in) to my apple id account.
I've changed alternate email accounts, but again i don't see a way to change my destination email account for security section of the account.
Also i would rather reset these via text (ATT has this option for my cell phone account reset and i love it). I don't see an option like that from Apple at all.
Any suggestions and help will be much appreciated. Don't want to struggle with password resets every time i need to get in.

Gather stats on every table in a schema

Hi,
i have an CRM application running on 10g R2 db. it has 5000 tbls on which less than 10% of tables are dynamic. gather stats job runs every day at 2am successfully.
i was monitoring the statistics(dba_tables, dba_tab_modifications, dba_tab_statistics), noticed that only 28 tables r been update with latest stats every day for CRM schema and most of these tables are same. during query tunning i found that some tables has stale stats, but it does't figure in column stale of dba_tab_statistics, but it shows no of rows inserted, updated in tab_modifications.
my question is there any draw back in gathering stats for all the tables every day irrespective of data is loaded with 10% or not and but not for tables with no rows..

due to application vendor recommendations, for some tables stats were disabled and optimizer parameter were changed which causes dynamic sample not using dynamic stats gather for some queries as they use the tables with no stats. as per documentation it would be calculating the stats on fly when the query the tables which stats has not been updated.
as of now i am not gathering stats manually for this schema, as auto is scheduled. and will verify if indeed on 10% of data is loaded it updates the stats or not then i may manually gather stats for only those tables.

Self password reset functionality (Apex Authentication)

I have created a page for Resetting password of End Users which takes username in a txt box and runs the process with the code on clicking button as
APEX_UTIL.RESET_PW(:P102_USERNAME, 'Some custom message');After going through documentation (and also the message displayed on use), I found that it requires admin privileges to execute, while I want to use it for End users of application.
Is there a work around to this problem? Please help.

Hi Saurabh,
another way to implement the forget password feature without seeing the standard APEX screens for this is call the standard reset form from PL/SQL and automatically SUBMIT it via the URL (so you don't have to show the form but you can use your own layout ).
The only downside I know so far is that the email cannot be formatted ( as far as I know ), but the first step for a customized reset pw feature is there :
