Pasting motion

I'm making a simple bouncing ball animation, and to make the
process go quicker I'm trying to copy the motion from one ball and
paste it on another. That way I can move the new ball around to a
different area of the stage.
So I have a movieclip symbol on the stage, and it has a
series of motion tweens on it to make it bounce. I select all the
frames and tweens and select Copy Motion. Then I made a new ball on
the stage, make it a movieclip symbol, enter the symbol edit mode
and paste the motion. When I do that, all of the tweens are dotted,
and the error message next to the tween edit button says "Motion
tweening will not occur on layers with ungrouped shapes or on
layers with more than one group and symbols."
I suspect I'm doing something wrong by trying to directly
animating by double-clicking on the symbol, and then doing my
animations on that timeline. Often I'll try and do something
simple, like make a mc symbol, double click it, make a new keyframe
at the 10th frame, then select from the drop-down menu 'motion',
and I get the same error message. But I don't get that error
message when I right-click on the timeline and select to create a
motion tween.
If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it :)

Motion tween can only be applied on symbols (movie clip,
graphic or button) and groups. It cannot be applied on shape. In
your case, when you double click on the movie clip to enter edit
mode, the object is the edit mode is a shape, not a movie clip.
If your workflow is to apply motion tween on the object
inside the movie clip edit mode, the workaround is to double click
on the movie clip to enter edit mode, select the object on stage
and press F8 to convert it to a graphic symbol or movie clip
symbol.

I'm just learning how to use Flash CS4 (taking college online

  • Copy and Pasting Motion? Please help!

Im quite new to flash. It's really, really annoying me at the minute.
My situation: I've got 7 frames of animated motion that is exactly the way i want it. I want these 7 frames of motion to loop so it gets to around 300 frames. So rather than doing every frame manually (which takes ages) i went to copy and paste motion.
So i highlight my 7 frames and click 'copy motion'. Then I try pasting them and i get the error mesage (in the attached picture) that nothing is selected. But i've clicked on the 8th frame, the place were i want the motion to begin, but still it says this error message.
So then i insert a new frame on the 8th frame space and paste the motion over the top of the 8th frame, but it misses the first 2 frames of animation (therefore messing eveything up) out and the motion is also wrong on top of that!
Im desperate here, all i want to do is something simple and i dont know how.

Yeah i want to animate my keyframes.
I know i can copy and past the keyframes, but thats not what i want because if i do that my character does not progress forward (or to the right of the screen in this instance). I want to copy and paste the motion so he goes forward  (to the right of the screen).
I have the character and i want him to walk from left to right across the screen whilst moving his, arms, legs and head etc (the motion) in a certain way.
Also i had already converted my layers to symbols. I will attach another picture to show you my character.

  • Copy and paste motion only ?

    hiya, hope you can help
I have animated a slideshow effect where one frame moves out teh way and another moves into frame
i am happy with it and now want to repeat it with all teh other images in the slideshow
the problem is, when i copy the keyframes (with a tween) on the first image that I did and try and paste them onto the 2nd image in my series, it actualy charges the image as well ! So that the second image becomes the firts image on the keyframes.
Is there a way just to copy the opacity and motion animation ONLY ? My guess is there must be because to animate each picture by hand with a custom ease in & out curve would take forvever
    hope you can help
    Regards
    Rich

with cs4 you can save your tween as a preset and apply it to any object you like.  here's a lee brimelow tutorial:
    http://www.gotoandlearn.com/play?id=88
(and i'm not sure what you're describing about a button frame.  can you post a link to a screenshot?  (if you try to attach one, check to make sure it doesn't get queued.)

  • Motion Blur doesn't work in Final Cut Pro

I've been working on stuff and int he past Motion Blur worked and now when I use it the motion blur has refused to work as a preview or after I render it. Is there something i'm doing wrong that's making it happen?
I'm using Mac OS X Leopard, the latest final cut pro and i'm using blue and green screen and Chroma Keyer and image control sinc ei'm making a sillouette and it's worked for me before.
If someone can reply and suggest anything that would be awseome.

Does your object to be blurred actually move...if not then use a blur filter
When you check the motion blur box and click the disclosure triangle what is the Blur percentage? did you try increasing it? If so does it make a difference?

  • Copy - paste Keyframed transforms only

    Hi
In Flash CS3 is it possible to copy a Keyframed and tweened animation of say a symbol growing larger and paste the Keyframes of the scaling transform onto a different symbol on a different layer so that this new symbol animates in the same way as the first symbol.
When I try this with "ctrl alt c / v" the new symbol becomes the same as the old symbol and also moves to the same position too. I need to only copy the scale transform info in the Keyframes.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks for any help
    Graz

I finally found out how to do this:
    Select frames to copy
    Right click
    Select Copy motion
    Select object to receive animation
    Right click object
Select paste motion or Paste motion special
The latter gives a choice of which parameters to copy over.

  • Flash motion presets

I've been working with Flash CS3 for a little while, and just
noticed that in the newest release (CS4) they have motion presets
you can use - which I think is great! However, my employer is not
going to upgrade me to CS4 just for that! Does anyone know if
there's a way to use presets in CS3? Is there a site or anything
where you can grab some free preset animations? Has this ever been
    done before CS4?
    Thanks!

I have not seen anything for animation presets prior to CS4.
I know in CS3 they introduced the ability to copy and paste motion,
which is just one step down from having a preset. I believe you can
also save motion out to XML, but that is for use in Flex projects.
As for convincing your employer to upgrade you to CS4, there
are more than a few options that make a CS4 upgrade not only
tantalizing, but necessary (in my opinion), and well worth the
cost. For starters, the ability to work in 2.5D (that means 2D
planes in 3D space). The highly customizable object-based tween
model (key frame-less!!). These are just a couple of the basics,
each one independently worth the upgrade, and when you bundle them
together, it is an upgrade that is quite irresistible.

  • My top 5 items i'd like to see in the next FCX update...

hopefully someone from Apple development reads this!
Allow custom frame sizes for projects. a MUST!  not everyone is creating movies in a standard video format - videos are needed for e-commerce, display panels, and web banners that wont fall into a standard video formats.  (this is easy to do with FC7 and all other pro editing software out there)
Paste attributes, like in FC7 - be able to select which attributes to paste (motion, filters, etc, or all)
Batch processing of projects and compound clips -  must be a way to select multiple projects or clips and batch export or at least send them all to compressor as a batch.  There is no way for our company to use the software if we are forced to select each clip separately -
Export using multiprocessors - this feature was removed with FCX 10.0.4 update - please bring it back!!!  (why would we want to lose good features like this?)
I'd like to see simple color tags brought to FC PRO X.  it is a very easy way to visually see which projects/sequences/events are complete, or need to be exported, or need to be re-shot, etc.  It's a standard for apple applications, not sure why it is missing here.  Favorites don't replace a simple color tag -  (unless you can see some kind of indication that the item is a favorite, without clicking on it and opening it up - that defeats the purpose, for me at least.)
and one last request  (for good luck...)  keyframing is very cumbersome in the new FCX.  There needs to be a much easier way to add keyframes than clicking on that tiny diamond box, or clicking on the transform - for EACH spot you want to keyframe...  also you can no longer hold the shift key to keep the motion on a single axis.  there needs to be a simple way to move the video left or right (or up and down) without effecting the other axis.
I'm sure there are much bigger requests out there, but since my day to day use of Final cut is pretty basic - (we rarely use audio or advanced features)  it seems logical (to me) to get these basic functions back.  Unfortunately, we cant purchase upgrades and start using this software until at least the first three requests are met.  Until then we will continue to edit on FC7 - and when we are forced to upgrade our software, we hope the needed functions are available or we'll be forced to switch to Premiere, that already functions similarly to FC7.

Apple engineering reads feedback not the forums.
    All good feature requests.
You don't need to add keyframes by clicking on the keyframe button at every point. You set the first keyframe value. Go to a different point in time and change the value and a keyframe will automatically be added.

  • Taping a 16:9 FCP Video to a Videocamera

I went to tape my 16:9 video to a videocamera (thinking that it would work the same as taping a 4:3 video), however all it did was freeze on the frame that was showing in the canvas. Is there anyone who knows a way to get it to work, or any other ways to export the 16:9 video while keeping the highest possible quality. I have to supply it to a post production house.
    Thanks
    Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Open FCP
Go Final Cut Pro > Easy Set-Up
    Choose DV-PAL Anamorphic
    Create a new sequence
Edit one of your original clips into this sequence
Click in your time line (with this new sequence) and hit Command-ZERO.
Take note of the sequence settings.
    Close this window.
Try to export to your video camera.
If you original footage was DV (shot on the camcorder in question) this should work.
When you edited you footage into your custom sequence, FCP probably tried to help you by adjusting the footage to fit into the sequence. To find out...
    Open your edit
Double click on a sequnce clip.
    Click in the Motion tab.
Look around for numbers that are not at the defaults, specifically scaling, distortion, and aspect ratio.
For comparison look at the Motion tab of the same clip when you open it from the browser.
If there are differences, and you need to recover the edit this way, correct one clip at the begining of your edited sequence, and then use paste motion attributes liberally, being careful not to negate any effects work you did. As a matter of fact, you may have to re-do some of your effects work.
DV 25 is DV (consumer,) DVCPro, and DVCam. 25 refers to the data rate of 25 mega bits per second – about 3.6 MBytes/sec.
Their is also DV 50 and DV 100. DVCPRO50 (DV 50) is believed by some to rival digital beta in visual quality. DVCPRO HD (DV 100) uses four simultaneous DV streams and clever compression to squeeze a very viable HD signal into a small space.

  • Help with HD footage sizing problem

    Hi all,
I am currently editing a short film that I shot on 16mm, had converted to HD and compressed using Apple ProRes 422 (HQ). I'm not sure where I went wrong, but after a few months of editing, I started having to render clips when I added them to the timeline. I don't remember ever touching the sequence settings.
Now I thought I could just start a brand new sequence with the right settings and copy/paste all the clips from the original timeline into the new one, render it, and everything would go back to normal. Not so. Before rendering, the image is squished. After rendering, it's exactly the same.
Here is a screen capture of my sequence settings.
Here is a screen capture of one of the clip properties.
Here is what it looks like in the canvas.
When I drag any of my original footage from the browser into the timeline, it works fine. How can I get all my settings back on the same page so that I don't have to re-edit all the footage or render every time I bring a clip into the timeline?
Sorry if I've left out some important info, please let me know. I know it's frustrating when people don't explain their situation correctly.
    Thanks in advance!
    Jack
    I'm using FCP 6.0.

You need to distort all of the images back to their proper size using the distort tool in the motion tab. THey got that way because you put them at one point in the wrong sequence settings or something. You can copy and paste motion attributes en masse after you fix one of them.
It's likely a simple change in the aspect ratio slider in the distort parameter settings.

  • Copy and Paste the Motion

I would like to know how to Copy and Paste the Motion Parameters (i.e. scale) settings from one clip to another.

Copy your clip, select the other clip, right-click (or control-click), choose "Paste Attributes", and check "Basic Motion".

  • How the heck to I copy and paste keyframes (scaling, rotation, etc.) in motion 5?

Trying to figure out how to copy keyframes from one object to another obejct in Motion 5, and I'm left screaming pulling my hair out.
It USED to be so easy... where is the paste attributes option here?
Or can I duplicate the object and relink it to another object? Going crazy here. Any help would be great.

There are several ways to copy and paste keyframes:
    1. Select the "source object" and go to the animated parameter in the Inspector (position for example).
    2. Click and drag the parameter name you want to copy to the destination layer in the layer list via drag and drop. The values (including keyframes) will be copied to the appropriate channels.
    OR
    1. Select the source object.
    2. For each channel that is animated (position, rotation, scale) go to the far right side of the parameter in the Inspector and select "Show in keyframe editor."
    3. Select all the keyframes you want (I use a simple click and drag to create a box an select all of the keyframes) and then copy (command-c).
    4. Now select the destination layer, position the playhead where you want the keyframes to start from and paste (command-v).

If you just need to match the animation of another layer (Position, Rotation, Scale) try using the Match Move behavior.

  • PSD-layered - copy and paste properties to layers in Motion?

    Hi,
I imported a layered photoshop file into Motion.
I applied certain properties to one layer (with key frames, such as rotate, scale, shadow...) and I want to know if there is a way to copy those properties and paste them onto the other layers so I can then go in and do certain tweaks, without having to do each layer from scratch...
(This is something that you can do in FinalCut, copy and past attributes, but I can't seem to find that option in Motion.)
    Thanks

you can do this by selecting the layers with the properties you want, then in the inspector, drag and drop the parameters onto the the layer you want them applied to.
